I went to the ER for help on a monday at 1pm. They took me right in for blood work and told me it would take an hour for results . I was suffering from stomach pain . ulcer pain is very painfull ,well 7 hours later they still had no news for me or help of any kind for me . i was on my own in that place . they have two waiting rooms . one can be seen from the street the other is in the hospital interior . that one was packed people sleeping in chairs and on the floor . waiting for help that never seems to come . avoid at all cost unless you hate yourself
I had my mother there in 2010. Horrible care. Nobody could understand the doctor as english is his second language. The nurse explained everything after he left. Its sad that they laid off some 200+ employees. I now take her up to the Cleveland Clinic with better care and better doctors.
I've been here since 11:00 pm, it is now 2:30 am and I have not seen a doctor. When I first walked in I was not told what to do, so I just began signing in. The receptionist then said to sit in the waiting area and wait to be called. About 45 minutes later I heard my name called, but there was no one to show me where to go so I assumed through the sliding doors. I had to awkwardly make my way around 3 security officers, and many workers standing around. Then I was in a hall standing, waiting for the tech to show me where to go. Deb, the tech who took my vitals and information was very, very rude. I felt then that I should've just left but I'm having a hard time breathing as well as chest pains so I stayed. She did not look me in the eyes once, and very monotonously asked what my issues were, etc. Then I had an EKG taken, sitting straight up in a chair, and the electrodes were all misplaced. (I do that for a living) Afterwards I was told to go back to the waiting area, that was about 11:30 pm. I was not called to go back until 1 am, where a woman took me to a room and said nothing. Just left. A nurse did not see me until 1:30 am, stayed for about 10 minutes and has not been back since.
This emergency room shows no sense of urgency, there were other angry patients who had been waiting since 9 pm and we're still not seen by 1 am! The staff I have encountered, besides the RN- Emily, have been extremely rude and seem to be annoyed by having people come through. I am preparing to leave because I'm still having issues and no one has been in to see me in over an hour.
I do NOT recommend this hospital if you are having a real emergency!!
Worst hospital I have ever seen. If you need hospital care run !
Go to suma
The patient communication is horrific. The Dr notes are a disaster
To even relate this hospital as the same an the main clinic is deseatful. I would like to know who was polled to say they are number one in Akron area. What a hot mess
n
They took care of my brother so well! Thanks for the great service!
It was a morning of total frustration from trying to find a place to park to attempting to find the correct door to go into, to not knowing which desk to go to, to having a very difficult walk for my husband to return to our car. We arrived 15 minutes early for our appointment, but the hospital actually made us 15 minutes late!
The only reason they are getting one star is because the nurse was nice ....they are extremely disrespectful and unprofessional at that front desk and the wait time is ridiculous and the sad part is it s not always like this
Took my husband here for treatment due to complications of his cancer. We've been to other hospitals, and in comparison CCAG was phenomenal. The staff, (most) all of them were awesome. They stabilized him quickly so he could continue with his treatment. They were upbeat, courteous, positive and offered much encouragement. I'm very thankful for the care they provided him.
I don t like the time you have to wait in Akron general, also the doctors are very cocky and miss treat the patients. I have had to go there many times because of what I go through and the I ve experience lot of discrimination and miss treatment.
Horrible hospital! Was told to go home and deal with the pain. Waited 6 hours and got no relief. Staff was rude and mean. Will never come back.
Did not want to give any stars. Waited in Emergency with my 83 yr. Old Mother who was having chest and head pain for over 8 hrs. UNACCEPTABLE! MAJOR FAIL CLEVELAND CLINIC! People could die in the waiting area there waiting to be seen! Staff was Rude also. Never again!
Waiting in the ER....no one seems to benin a hurry around here! They took us in quickly, but once checked, things went into slow motion. Arrived at 9AM and it's now almost 1 PM and still waiting for a CAT scan to determine what the problem is.
I would give a zero if possible. I understand high values in the ER and I understand being slammed at work has got to suck but to treat actual human beings that are in need of care like they are bothering you is completely unacceptable. Maybe the staff should have re thought what profession they wanted to be in or properly trained on how to handle patients. I will make the drive elsewhere to be treated decent.
Worst experience ever during back surger6. My Surgeon was great. My Nurses tried but one staff Dr. Cassandra shaundra. Was in reprehensible. I have severe dysautonomia with gastroparisis but she would not in anyway know that ! I was only there 3 days, this was a very major double surgery at 67 years old. Pain was aweful , no morphine pump either. She thought I was a drug seeker because they put an IV in my hand for fuilds. I had a temp of 101. Severe diarrhea and I couldn't urinate due to Gabapentin they had put me on without my knowledge saying it was a pain med. It's a seizure med I told them I could take. Any evening of day three she stormed by my room. Yelling at me and tolled me my ass was out of there. Sent me in a wheelchair at 5.00 to a Nursing Home . There isn't any staff after 5.00 at a Nursing Home and I was very sick. They can't get any pain meds or your normal meds for 24 hours or longer either and they didn't know I was coming since she had basically kicked me out.
I got worse and went down hill at the Nursing home. Turned out I had C'diff from the hospital, a kidney failure from back surgery. That one should not even have a license to practice Medivine. She also falsified my medical records by saying that I was allergic to narcotics. Space
i don't like Akron general they let my mother-in-law die
I am in labor and delivery with my daughter and I use oxgen because I have Cancer I was running low i asked if I could use the oxygen in the room I was told no because it was a drug medication and I needed an order to hookup up to there's in the room and I never had a proplems before at any other hospitals so how do I rate this hospital not even one star I am very disappointed in this hospital
I came in for what seemed to be appendicitis. After 4 hours they sent me home, telling me to see if I had more pain and if so to come back in. I had to go to my family doctor to finally get a CT scan at another hospital and have my medical issue properly diagnosed. The nurses and doctors were kind, but I am going to try to make sure not to return here if at all possible. They also miss-billed me for a procedure, trying to charge me the full amount after my insurance had already kicked in and cut the out-of-pocket down to less than 1/4th of the original cost.
The hosptal may be fine. But if you havt to go get your breast check again here to see if you have breast cancer than you should know there 1 small parking deck . Me and my sister had to pay for Vella to park our car and we had to pay $7.00. So if we parked in parking deck than we get a ticket for 1 hour visit and not pay nothing. The hosptal need parking for women coming in to check to see if they have breast cancer with out worrying where to park your car!
I would give them no stars if it was an option. They killed my Grandfather, they made him wait for more than eight hours and finally looked at him when we got in their faces to get him help. They later realized what the problem was after thinking it was something else, rushed him to surgery and he collapsed and died. My Aunt went there for hip surgery and a nurse went to my Uncle that she died, after a few moments they had to tell him that she was alive, they mixed up their files. I wouldn't come here if I was having a heart attack, I would go to a different hospital, even if it was half an hour away.
Why have a nurse hotline if they can t give you any advice

Let me tell you about this hospital, in particular the Emergency waiting room. I went with having issues of having heart related issues. Trouble breathing, ringing in ears.. just bad. After filling out the symptoms sheet, I waited in the waiting room for about 5 minutes. I was asked back and the nurse asked my symptoms. First she implied my eyes were bloodshot. I said I had a drink with one of my friends earlier. She looked at me and said one? Totally implying I was on some sort of drugs. She then proceeded to put me on an ekg. the pads were hanging half off and clearly put on incorrectly. The wires were pulling the pads off. She then said my heart was racino and slowing. Clearly an abnormal rythym. She checked with the doctor and said the doctor said it was fine. Never took my temp or blood pressure. Put me back in the waiting room to wait for a doctor. I literally felt like I was going to pass out or faint. This went on for 3 hours. I went to use the bathroom one time after an hour and urine was all over the walls and floor. Went back an hour later and the urine was still on the floor. Coming back to the waiting room, I examined the floors, pop and food partials as well and ants. I mean ants everywhere. I went up to the front desk and inquired about my time and they said there was 2 people ahead of me. I notified them of theach bathroom. Some one from housekeeping came down walking in was in there for 5 seconds and walked our. Clearly not enough time to sanitize the bathrooms. She proceeded to look at the waitingym room by glancing in and walked away. I sat there for another 30 minutes until an ant started to crawl on my leg. I informed the hospital of the situation and the girl at the desk basically had a that's not my problem attitude I'll call housekeeping. I informed her I was leaving and I will not be paying for an ekg, that wasn't administered properly as well as the blood test because of possible mishandling or contaminated results. I'm sorry. We all know hospitals can not be that clean and sickness spreads in them, but this one is purely negligent about keeping things cleanot ND taking the proper procedures to keep their patients form getting other illnesses. The lady at the desksaid there priority was people coming in from ambulence. Not the guy with some wacky heart problem in the er. Not the other man in the corner that looked like he was in excruciating pain. Do not bring your loved ones here.

I normally have a great experience vut waited 12 hrs in pain were not thorough with test nor did they do all they could I got admitted and my pain meds were changed more than underwear. The dr is rude and unprofessional stuck up! They want you comfortable but they are double minded and unstable. This used to be a great awesome hospital.
They brought my mother here and everyone is very friendly and helpful. Best place to be sick!
Akron general at 2 diff locations sent my girl friend home saying nothing is wrong with her when she has extremely bad chest pains due to posible heart attack. They want nothing but ur money they don't even care to,help Anyone they just want a pay day. Will find a diff place to go from, now on
They re not worth my time! Very uncompassionate ! I agree.....I wouldn t take my dead dog there! Love Dr. Caruso though!
I delievered my son here. And couldn t have asked for anything more when it came to the doctors and the nurses ! They were wonderful. As a first time mom with a premature baby I was grateful for all that they did for us . especially nurse Sharon she was very helpful ,informative , and insightful. They made sure my son was taken care of 24/7 and made sure that I was okay in my recovery process.
That hospital reallyyy sucks me and my friend David was stuck there for about 4 hrs and they really didn't care about at all , Dr walked in after an hr and just said it's ok and then walked away and then never returned we sat over there for couple of more hrs and asked attended whose behavior was awful
I will never recommend my dearest to go at this hospital
I sat in the ER waiting room for nearly 6 hours. During that time I saw triage, was returned to the waiting room, gave a urine sample and was returned to the waiting room, had bloodwork and was returned to the waiting room, had a CT scan and was returned to the waiting room. After 5 hours and 47 minutes my husband went to see how many people were ahead of me. They told him 4. When I had been there at 4 hours and 11 minutes
Minutes of waiting there were 6 ahead of me. I asked about leaving then and going to Green, the girl told me, "well, you haven't been registered here, so you cound go there but we would urge you to stay." I understand that sometimes more urgent patients come in, but this is rediculous! We decided that it had been too long. We both inquired 2 hours apart if they could read the results in Green and were told yes. When my husband left to get the car he told the guy at the place we signed in that we were going to Green. He, Jacob maybe, said he would have my results sent there. When I left I told the same guy we were headed to Green. We left Akron ER at 7:37 we arrived at Green ER at 8. They told us that I couldn't be seen there because I was in Akrons system. The girl called Akron to tell them to take me out of their systems, 20 minutes later I called to ask them to take me out of the system. Finally they removed me and I was able to get a room at 8:40, an hour, it took Akron an hour to remove me from their system. By 9 I have seen a doctor who has read the test results, ordered iv and iv med, plus take home meds. 20 minutes folks, 20 minutes and guess what, they had other patients too! Pitiful CCF-Akron General!
GO ELSEWHERE IF YOU POSSIBLY CAN
If i could go with zero stars I would. Arrived at ER at 713 pm. With difficulty breathing , cold sweats, tightness in chest. They wanted to rule out heart attack , I KNEW I needed a breathing treatment & possibly steroids since the extreme heat causes asthma flare ups. Vitals were taken immediately, blood draw by a "tech" that hit a nerve in my hand which is STILL numb up to shoulder 10 hrs later, and blew the vein he was drawing from on his 2nd attempt.
EKG was also done at that time. Within an hour my results were sitting in my chart- I have email access to these so saw them by 8:45 pm. At 1:00 am i was told there were 2 ahead of me before i could be seen by 3:15 am only one of those had been taken back but not seen.
@ 4:00am I again asked when I could be seen, the same snotty little receptionist told me i had to wait my turn......NINE HOURS and I still couldn't be seen having respiratory distress. This lil elderly lady with open wound on her elbow also sat for 9 hours, and a young pregnant lady with kidney stones ended up leaving at midnight - all before being seen. Meanwhile, the loud drunken "people" that showed up with sprained fingers and "severe pain in my arm, no i mean my side, oh it's my back " were taken ahead of us and "treated" coming out laughing carrying on. A lil Ms " im so violently sick", taken ahead of 9 others waiting for hours spent 95% of the time after she was taken immediately back coming out to flirt with the security guards and smoke- she was still hanging around when we left despite being discharged within 2 hours of her arrival.
Staff is rude , very poorly managed emergency room .
During delivery the nurse Mixed my daughter's lab with another patient who was a meth user. My daughter has spent almost 3 wks visiting her baby here, because she had to pay out her pocket for hair follicle to prove that she is drug free. This wasn't enough for Sarah Hoover the case worker. She called children services to involve them. Now she can't be left alone with her children. She wasn't approached about her lab until after she sign her discharge papers so when she requested to be tested on the spot she was told can't because you have been discharged. She demanded they test her son, they said it wouldn't serve a purpose now. She was told her lab was over looked. So she's paid out her pocket for hair follicle, her insurance was billed for someone else lab work showing drugs, and she has spend every night here with her newborn son trying to get them to release him. Now that her lab came back clean and baby is one day away from discharge she gets a surprise visit from Sara again who notified children service of complaints these nurses mention. Example .. she let her baby lay on his stomach. Well... yes bc he is colicky, and one of the nurses said as long as he is on the monitor that it was okay, now she is told otherwise and being blamed for a nurses false information and everytime he cries a nurse rushes over to give her a grade for being a bad mom. Her 2 year old daughter has missed her mommy at home during all of this. Will NEVER EVER BE BACK HERE AGAIN !
I cannot believe the lack of communication in this practice or the lack of concern for a patient. I saw Dr. Wilkie, Then I called and left a message about anti inflammatory medication and never received a return call, then I called again and still never got a call back. I had an MRI, and when I went back, the doctor told me "well your MRI confirms your concerns, you do have something going on in there. You are going to need surgery but I don't do it so I am referring you to another doctor" SERIOUSLY? That couldn't have just been a phone call then have me schedule an appointment with the other doctor? I had taken the day off work so I could go to this appointment and my husband did too. I asked if I could see the other doctor the same day and they said no, my insurance would not cover it. Well I talked to my insurance and they assured me that it would've been covered. So now they basically are getting 2 copays from me and 2 office visit charges to my insurance for something that could have been taken care of with one phone call and one appointment! They seriously want me to let these people do surgery on me??? No thanks!
The ER wait time was terrible. I got there at 3am, there were 6 people ahead of me, including someone who had been waiting since 10:30 that night. I sat in agony for 2 hours before going somewhere else. They had only taken taken 1 person back by the time I left.
This place sucks don't ever go there.. they take forever to tell you nothing.. They need to shut that worthless place down.. It should have no stars..
On October 10 I went to the ER with severe pain. I was met with extreme indifference. Of the 30 or so "professionals" i encountered while there only one lady who was not a nurse was even polite. The entire 8 and half hour wait endure could have been avoided with even a sign stating how busy they were and that only the most extreme causes actually get a doctor. The one and only thing they did "quickly" was getting me into the C.T. Scan. This however took 2 hours. The remaining 6 and half hours was being told to sit down and wait. The entire nursing staff on both the shifts i witnessed were far more concerned with telling jokes and the current gossip to even pretend to be concerned for any of the patients well beings. I was naturally completely disheartened by the extreme lack of care. My story is not the worse one as two other patients had been waiting even longer than I had been. The one lady had been there from seven am and was still there after i left at midnight. I was never seen by a doctor, nor was I even so much as granted a passing glance. After all this I approached the counter and asked if there was any point in waiting any longer. The nurse asked what i was waiting for. I told the result of my C.T. Scan which been sitting in my file for more than 6 hours waiting on a doctor. She said there isn't anything she could do at all. She implied that I should not have come in at all. When I asked if there was anything she could do to help she got flustered and walked away. The younger nurse was then left with me, as she processed the walk ins, and I asked your in my despair and hopelessness if there was even any reason to stay she said that she not allowed to say to yes that question but that their medical records department would be open in the morning. I then left. This hospital has a very serious need for very stern lesson in patient care and sensitivity. I do not expect saints, but If they have enough time for thirty minute gossip and laugh sessions in front of patient maybe they could muster just a little bit more patience. No one not brought there by ambulance should ever go to Akron General Hospital's emergency room, ever. They are callous, rude, and most importantly don't care about helping anyone.
Will not refill stomach meds. Don't answer calls . See every six months gives meds for 3 months. Given 4 months to get ppwrk to attorney did not do it. Don't bother below average care
Untrained and inexperienced staff man the emergency department on the weekends. Had to seek medical attention from medical experts in the Cleveland Area. Was treated and released from Akron General Emergency Department with high Blood Pressure, Esophagitis, LPR. Abdominal and throat pain with thrush infection, including a crushing headache, dehydration and symptoms of asthma and bacterial infection. Rash developed within twenty four hours.
Did however receive a chest xray, and culture for strep. Blood Pressure was checked, given an IV, something for the headache, and released.
Blood Pressure was back up to 190/108 within two hours, along with a skin rash.
Sodium Levels were low. Blood pressure remained dangerously high, Throat was infected and swollen. No treatment was administered. Was released without a diagnoses or treatment, until a physician at another facility could be notified.
Endoscopy by University Hosp. indicated inflammation of the stomach with peptic ulcers, and hyperemic condition in all parts of the stomach. Was given a drip wide open to replenish fluids for dehydration. Reflux was causing LPR and Prevacid was given double strength with pain killers until further notice, Additionally the reflux was causing the asthma and esophagitis which was complicated by candidias. Was given oral nystatin for the inflammation and a z pack for the bacterial infection. Prescribed additional Blood Pressure Medications to subdue the high blood pressure and head aches.
Needless to say, Akron General is the last place on earth I would ever seek emergency treatment again. The Doctors on duty were clueless. The final insult to the injury was finding that the insurance company was billed for three thousand dollars along with a 250.00 co pay. Shame on you!
My father was recently admitted due to having blood clots in his lungs. He is 75. He spent 7 hours in the ER and the atmosphere was chaotic. It took several hours for a specialist to come down to the ER and make a decision what to do with him. In the mean time, he just laid there getting more and more stressed by the screaming and yelling (emergency patients) and from the lack of real care. When he was finally admitted and was transported to a room, he was sent to a single approximately 9x12 room that had been recently turned into a double room with a curtain down the middle. So his space was about 6x9. I mentioned this to the nurse and she states that management had done this to increase the number of beds. Nothing world class about this experience for sure. Felt like I was in a hospital in Eastern Europe.
The emergency is a joke!! Sent down from my dr cause she was worried that my blood clot moved to my lungs and and now im going on over an hour waiting!!
Love this Hospiral
My husband had a single lung transplant and before that he was in Akron General for 4 weeks before heading up to Cleveland Clinic.
Akron General met all his needs from medicines to emotional support and they took care of me too. I LOVE THIS HOSPITAL thank you for your hard work
Patient dumped me I was brought in by ambulance with sirens in the middle of the night with a heart rate of 124 and a blood pressure of 148/87 and they discharged me with no coat/no shoes at 1 am in cold temp with a bus pass that isn't able to be used until 6am stating that I was diagnosed with atypical chest pain which is not a diagnosis I further told the hospital staff that I wanted to speak to patient liason before I left per my patient rights which, I did not receive, and she left me. I was told patient Liason wasn't here to try back tomorrow. And I let her know that per hospital policy they have one on staff each shift, unless otherwise they are infringing on patient rights.
Apparently no one here knows what it means the be polite, my mother is in severe pain as we get to the ER, the officer at the metal detector asks if she has anything in her pockets, as my mom is bent over in pain trying to catch her breath the officer says "WELL I TAKE THAT AS A NO" how about you wait and give her time to reply? Then at check in the lady asked what is wrong so my mom starts to explain and she says "WELL, I need a 2 word description" are you serious? Then don't ask to explain, then asks my mom while looking at me "did you bring anyone with you?" NOPE. I'm a figment of imagination Everyone here needs a wake up call. We are the ones who provide your paychecks how about a smile and some friendliness.... apparently that's too much to ask...
Services is great. Help desk employees are very pleasant ppl. Are also helpful will to no only point u in the right direction, but willing to have someone to show u to your destination
Cleveland Clinic should never have put the name on this hospital without first bringing it up to the world class standards that have made Cleveland Clinic one of the best in the world.
This facility and care provided by it are truly sub-standard when compared to any Cleveland Clinic facility I have experienced.
I would give them zero stars google would let me! I have to much to share everything so I ll just say that after almost 3 weeks in ICU then a little over a week in TCU my father was supposed to be transferred to in patient rehab. When the insurance denied the first facility the Dr sent him home instead of trying a different facility. Home for about 15 hours then in an ambulance back to a different hospital and back to ICU! Good call Akron!
Been here since 10pm. Got a chest x-ray but have yet to even get a room. I'm beyond tired and there is like 5 other people in the room. This is bullshit just to get a doctor's note.
Absolutely do not have your baby here! They overcharged me and kept telling me it was correct only to admit it was wrong. Not only did they make me jump through hoops while I'm trying to work and take care of a newborn, they LIED to me.
And, because I was anxious about giving birth they called case workers on me. And they separated someone elses baby from them bc mom had a fever. What a scam.
If you are not keen on your baby being TAKEN AWAY from you or being overcharged GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I will never step foot in this hospital again, for any reason. I am DISGUSTED.
This Hospital did not impress me in the least. The doctors seemed very incapable of thinking outside of the box. They would prescribe medicines that caused severe side effects and they were in denial about them. They didn't seem capable of thinking of different alternatives to their pharmaceutical medicines. Additionally, at least in the eleven days that my family stayed with a family member in the hospital, we didn't meet a single American born and raised doctor. I finally concluded that the human resources department of this hospital must be in India. I will say that we did have several very helpful nurses. There was just one we had to ask to be removed from our case. Overall, though, this is a place that I plan to avoid.
I went for immense pain in my abdomen a week ago. Knee-buckling pain that left me sobbing. I was left there for three hours with no help, three different people said I was not in enough pain to be in the ER and I was discharged with "acute backaches" and no information that will help me. All that they did was check my urine and blood samples.
As it turns out, I have shingles. SHINGLES. And they said I was not in enough pain to have anything else. Now that the blisters formed, it's too late for real treatment and I'm in the worst pain of my life. I will NEVER recommend or go here again.
I hope that Cleveland clinic makes General hospital better. I cannot even describe all the things that I have to complain. My first would be they Trident to force me to put a feeding tubing in my daughter, one she did NOT need. The doctor went as far as to threaten me, with calling children's services. Claiming I was putting her in danger. I kept saying people do not know how to feed her. I ended up fighting back and proved I was right.
Good doctors and care but they even make patients pay for parking now. If you believe you can get similar care at Summa, go there.
My husband was swimming and we ordered a pizza unbeknownst to him a Speedo doesn't protect against very hot things. He dropped a piece and, well we ended up there. Everyone was very friendly and respectful. A great place when you need it!
Would give zero if possible. I am.due to get a full mouth extraction in June, my dentist said to go to the er if the pain got worse before she returned. I did just that and got humiliated. They don't care if you're dying or in pain. We're all a statistic. They were simply looking for trouble. Do not come here for dental or back pain, they think it's funny
Triple threat of rude, unprofessional, and medically inept
Horrible experience worst hospital I have ever been to that's supposed to be run by Cleveland clinic what a joke the staff is terrible
Need to quit letting delivery nurses attempt to talk woman into getting a epidural especially when they dont need it like my fiance. Need to update the rooms better after baby delivery, have the same chairs that destroy the fathers backs for over 7 years, There is no proper remote for the tvs. Water temperature is only luke warm if best, get out the shower its like walking into a ice box almost as if the central air is on in the bathroom. Smells like paint in the hall ways because they are updating. The best part about it was the nite shift nurse she was such a sweet woman and very professional and the rest of the staff was very great aswell other then the nurses trying to make descions for us. Now we are completely discharged and took photos but now we cant leave because there printer is magically down. This hospital will keep you in here as long as possible and it all comes down to money sad. Blonde hair nurse hates her job clearly like you dont get paid good money to be here. I asked whats going on for her to have a attitude with me like i didnt just sleep on a chair for 3 days straight and had a new born i had to call the director pf the floor for her to tell me the info i just asked from the nurse she is saying they are hand writting them and she will speak to the nurse to get back to me. This could of been said when i walked to the nurse in the first place. I will never ever come here ever again i will never suggest this hospital to anyone at all. This HOSPITAL IS FALLING APART LIKE CHAPPEL HILL MALL.
Horrible nurses at this hospital. Consider yourself fortunate if you get one of the few rare ones who isn't. The "nurse" Michelle(short brown hair) on the labor and delivery floor was awful to my wife when she was in labor, she was impatient and acted irritated when she put the call light on, treated everything abruptly, and just acted like she was annoyed helping her in general. She should be fired because no nurse should lack empathy like that when someone is completely relying on you and bringing a baby into this world! And all the other stays and visits at this hospital over time have been the same in the way the majority of the nurses seem like awful people to be in the place of taking care of someone. They dont know how to time manage or deal with the stresses that come with the job properly or this hospital in understaffed and theyre just stressed out constantly from it. Weve only met a few truely good nurses here over time. Were going to stick to city hospital or the actual Cleveland Clinic. This hospital having Cleveland Clinic in it's name now is a joke.
We ended up at AGH because they had the medical staff Mom needed. She s 83 yrs old and had fallen. She had a compression fracture at T11. She also had a Bladder infection which compounded her medical treatment. As a family we decided against surgery in her back. The nursing staff of 5200B took great care of my mom. I camped out in her room for 8 days. Anytime I had any questions or concerns they were very helpful in getting answers. They seemed excited as mom started to recover even the little baby steps was an encouragement. The medical staff came In And checked on her frequently. They always asked if there was something that I needed. The whole nursing staff was terrific I had more contact with a couple that Mom really responded well to. Angela, Kyle, Ryan and one of the newer nurses Maci. Mom was getting a little feisty as she started to get better. Which is a good sign. From here we are Heading to nursing home for therapy to help Mom stand and walk again. I would like to give a sincere THANK YOU for the great care that my mom had.
This place is horrible. sitting in the ER with my wife right now. Been here 2 hours havent been seen yet. She is on the floor doubled over in pain. Brand new ER and they asked her for a urine sample and gave her a barf bag for the sample because they're out of sample cups. Took it to the girl at the ER desk and she laughed and said they done pay me enough to touch that let me get a nurse. Terrible service.
The new emergency care center is a joke. They make you sit I'm the waiting room the entire time you are there. I came in for chest pains. They took me back ran an ekg and took blood then put me back in the waiting room while I was in pain. I do not appreciate having a whole waiting room of people watching me while I'm in pain. 6 hours later and I have still yet to see a dr. I will never go here again
Every Dr or service I have received here is wonderful. Recent knee surgery went well. Very kind nurses. Love my Otho Dr & all around continually pleased. Will only come here for my medical care. It s easy to get on these posts & complain but I honestly have nothing but positive things to say
Stay away! Absolutely terrible!. This is twice within two weeks I've had a miserable experience with AGMC. Never again. You were the only place I'd go. Not anymore.. 4 hours and still wasn't seen by a DOC. Nothing. Rolled in a hallway and left to wait.
Floor five oncology has many issues. My mom was fecal vomiting and her vitals weren't taken for six hours due to a patient with substance abuse issues ripping out his IV and trying to run. Woefully understaffed. Three hours behind in giving pain meds for a bowel obstruction. Colonoscopy aren't performed on weekends either. I called maintence to let them know both ice machines were broken . We bought diapers and toilet paper since we didn't know when the staff would be able to give my mom any more. My sis helped a patient get out of bed and go to the bathroom because she was calling for help and no one came. A fifteen day stay had 18 doctors. Lots of miscommunication. I can't believe this hospital is in Akron Ohio.
PSA: quit smoking, sleep well, exercise, lose weight, stay away from drugs and alcohol. Go to a appropriate doctor, ex: Don't go to a general practitioner if you have diverticulitis. Be your own advocate.
When I went to see them for my pain in my head they wanted to do a spinal tab on me and I didnt have to have that done ever plus there against disable people but I'm not that server plus they wanted to keep me againt my will until my step dad comes home from his truck driver and my mom have rights to power of attorney and help me if i need help im not that stupid or retarded and there was big flies in my room and little tiny black bugs and it went in my mouth and food its gross plus there was water linking when ever i flush water links. Also I'm very sensitive to be touch be strangers this one nurse touch my hair and hug me she was on top of me makes me uncomfortable.plus the manger didnt have any right to trying to keep me away from my mom I'm 22 years old and I'm independent im not stupid or a retard.she wanted to keep me until my step dad to come home from work she trying to kidnapped me I wont be coming back there ever there all mean and rude also they have no right to treat my mom like crap we didnt do anything wrong you all are against people with little disability.plus you guys can not keep me from going to any other hospital if im very sick you guys gonna let me die if im very sick i wont come back anymore.and I do not need any babysitter I ask if i need help thats why my mom wants to be power of attorney to help me and im 22 years old so stop treating people like crap!!
Came in with a migraine that always leads to a seizure and they let me sit for 2 hours before even giving me 2 Tylenol. It's by far the worst experience I've ever had with a hospital and it takes a lot to beat Akron city hospital.
The cafeteria has good food and the prices aren't bad. I recommend the Turkey cutlet.
Just had a colonoscopy here this week. Every person that I had help me that day from registration to the nurses in the preop to the anesthesiologist and all of the nurses and Dr Sofi in the op room were extremely friendly, helpful and did whatever they could to make my experience the best the could. Brenda, Cheryl. Jean. Paula and Stefanie thank you for doing above and beyond your job!!
Love this hospital & staff. On 1/23 I was transferred here from twinsburg emergency. I had surgery the next day and had to return 2/5 for another surgery. Nursing staff is extremely attentive and caring.
Rudest hospital staff ever The Doctors are great that s THE only reason we come here
They have taken great care on me on the Cardiac floor 4100. I am sure patients at times forget to say thanks because they are under the weather. Thanks to all the dts. Nurses cafeteria best fish ever) panko crusted cod.
ch appreciated
I went to ER with chest pains and stomach pains around 8 am. I was very aprehensive as we just lost our insurance and they took me in with no issues at all. Everyone treated my wife & I with much respect and kindness. After being admitted to observation overnight I was pleasently surprised at the level & care I received the entire time. The only complaint is waiting for discharge for many hours after being told of good results. It was worth the wait.
So far I have been here in ER for 18 hours. They tell there are no beds available. I'm 6'4" with a Ton of medical issues and they've had me in this 5' long bed. Everything seems dirty and on disrepair.
Waited 5 hours with my Mom in the ER waiting room for chest pains. We ended up leaving to go to another hospital. I work in a hospital so I understand a hospital gets busy but I came a few weeks ago and it was the same issue.
If you care about your family DO NOT bring them here. There are a few decent nurses but the bad FAR outweighs the good. They would rather their patients die in their care then do any real medical work.
Over the course of two days, I developed severe numbness and tingling all over my body, total lack of coordination, and could no longer even walk unassisted. Went to Akron General emergency, and they refused to do anything for me. They told me to follow up with my pcp, and he will send me for any tests that he thinks I need. I am deteriorating quickly, and am told to just wait to see my Dr. I will die before I go here again. Terrible.
Follow-up: After waiting all weekend (and getting progressively worse) to get in to my pcp, he finally gave me a direct admit to a different hospital because I demanded that he send me there for testing. Turns out I had a ruptured disc that was compressing my spinal cord. It's been 3 months since my emergency spinal surgery, and things still haven't returned 100%. Major improvements, but I can't help but wonder if I wouldn't have this permenant damage if I would have been treated properly here in the first place.
My sister is currently waiting in the ER with an infection in her heart she has endocarditis. She's been asking the nurses for help. Shes currently short of breath and NO ONE WILL HELP HER? She explained her medical history being life flighted to Cleveland clinic etc.
I've been sitting on the phone with her and when shes talks to these people, no one cares??? They even make smart alec remarks to a patient about life choices!! HOW DARE YOU.. You're running a hospital right? She unfortunately went to this ER before (no other option) and they let her go with an infection in her heart and she was then life flighted to Cleveland clinic.
This place is supposed to help people all they have caused this family is pain and suffering... is she supposed to call 911 in the ER? What in the HECK is going on?????? These places need a weekly review.
Had a heart cath and it went very smooth, staff very professional, hospital very clean, was a good place to go.
Not a good hospital for nobody they will let u set in the lobby for like 9hours
i accompanied my loved one to the hospital after being shot and robbed..the R.N. who discharged him was totally oblivious to anything going on around her, it was as if it was literally her first day..she went to discharge him with blood soaked bandages..no home going instructions..(ABSOLUTELY NONE)..she was so unprofessional it was sickening. He had an exit wound that we were unaware of, when I asked her if he even had an exit wound the registered nurse said " oh I'm not sure" I was like WOW are you serious?? our E.R. visit was terrible. Whoever that nurse was that discharged us needs lots and lots of diversity training. I pray it wasn't a race issue, but we were treated very poorly.
It's a amazing hospital but the emergency room it terrible I'm terrible u waiting Over 5 and 7 hours before u get seen and all u.can do is pray and hope nothing happen just crazy.its 156 am and still haven't been see he is having sharp pain on his left side and he is having chest pain we been sitting in the er for like 5 hours still not called they did and x-ray but what about his head
I've always received great care here for myself and my family!
Has the worst management at their stow location. Management treats their staff Like they are doormats. Management makes mistakes but it s the staff who have to suffer the consequences and it gets put in their files instead of the managers. I am not a big fan of Diane Weaver she is the worst manager I ve ever come across. I just want to forewarn people to be safe and cautious
this hospital sucks they make you wait for ever you could die here
8 1/2 hours in the emergency room and still not seen! Unbelievable!
You would think since this hospital carries the Cleveland Clinic name, it would have a certain level of care and service built in. Not so. If I could leave zero stars I would. CC in name plate ONLY. Not even a shadow of what main campus is like. My mother has been here in the ER twice now with serious health issues. Cancer combined with renal failure and high blood pressure with escalated heart rate (has had quintuple bypass before). Both times we have been completely dismayed at the level of urgency and attentiveness to care of this place. No information for hours on end. No sense of urgency even with high BP and heart rate. Very long periods of time between people checking on you, then if you have the misfortune of being admitted, you are ignored, don t get to speak to an actual doctor and are only told the doctor looks at your labs and... . Severely understaffed. I will never allow my mother to be admitted to this hospital again.
Friendly, helpful employees and volunteers. Cafe and cafeteria. Cafe makes a wonderful mocha espresso. Reasonable parking at $2. Great patient service.
From Trauma to Osteo, these folks are AWESOME .... saved my husband's leg after an 18 foot fall. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all staff and docs. We're lucky to have you. I know emergency rooms can be slow (for to all the whiners) but they have to take every Tom, Dick and Harry that walks through... this is a hospital in a city. I know folks suffer, believe me, but they do the best they can. I do not envy them the ingratitude shown by posters who are apparently, still alive. And I wish the complainers would learn to spell and grease the caps lock so they don't e-shout. Hurts their credibility. Thanks again AK Gen.
Okay so let me start by saying I ve been here for four hours . This hospital is nothing but rude and has no sense of urgency nor care. I ve never been treated so awful . I can in for a urine test which they took while I was in the waiting room. Then I remained in the waiting room for four hours and am still here . I asked the front desk about my situation and they said I couldn t leave and get my results the next day . They said I had to see the doctor and in most cases I don t even see one I see a nurse . However I ve seen many patients come and go after me as I sit and sit . Thank god I m not dying or I d be dead already ..
Workers are not friendly, especially ER x-ray tech they are too nosy. It seems like they aren t coming to work but to talk about others back bite. They are too desperate to know about others personal life at work. Work is work u just work......
Sitting in the waiting room with my mom for chest pains for 9 hours and counting. Still no dr. Still in the waiting room.
Horrible place, very uncompassionate staff. Don t go there if you are having an emergency. They just don t give a damn at all.
