OK but not great. Price increase in 2016 basically halved the savings account limits to keep the increase low, but this caused the benefits just to not provide adequate cover. To upgrade inflates the premiums so much it become unaffordable to the average member out there. Paid for my daughter's birth up to the cent in 2015 so I cannot complain. Claims takes long to process though, be willing to wait a month for refunds. Moved over to another very popular medical aid and for a R1000 more per month I have tripled my savings benefits.

Have been trying for almost 4 months to register my mother as a Cancer patient. They NEVER get the registration right, which results in us having to cough up for all her Xrays and most of her medication . Totally disgusted in my experience with medihelp. Spent Hours on the phone, they never bother calling back and their email system takes about 7 days to reply.

Absolutely atrocious service from this medical aid. They took 3 months to approve my hospital admission with calling them almost everyday and then too only when I referred them to the ombudsman. Most frustrating service provider I have ever dealt with. My advice rather pay a little extra and get a better service.

I had to be admitted to hospital in November 2019. Today on the 24 of Jan 2020 I got a letter to say they have rejected my admission.. WOW... Three months for a medical aid to decide to authorize admission or not.... I did not know that medical aids are doctors and can decided if you are "dead" enough to be admitted or not... pathetic.. they will be receiving my cancellation letter today!!!! They are not worthy of a star!

A claim of mine was denied because I did not provide 'proof of payment' to the provider. The provider did, however, clearly state on their invoice 'amount received from patient'. How much more proof is needed? Medihelp only, as is apparent in other reviews as well, ads to the suffering of some of their members by this unacceptable attitude. I will discourage anybody, including my own children, who are currently still on my medical aid, to support Medihelp. (I would prefer to award no star at all!)

Thank you for the response. I have escalated the matter via online complaint form but keep on receiving 'canned' messages clearly indicating that they work on templates and do not even look at my explanation.

They took care of my pregnancy well, my delivery was paid for in full (c section). when my baby was admitted for a week in hospital when he was about 3 month they paid in full. highly recommend if you can afford, I love the scheme but the annual increases are getting too much for me.

I am so impressed with Medihelp. The staff are just amazing to deal with, they explain every little detail to me and are so friendly when dealing with me on the phone. I have never had any issue with them refusing to pay any claim that is covered by my scheme. I would recommend this to every single person who is looking for an affordable and good quality medical aid.

Medihelp is the most awful medical aid I ve ever come across. The way they treat paying members is disgusting, they take their money every month, ask to disclose pre existing conditions and then when an emergency occurs they don t give preauthorisation until they have completed an investigation Regardless of the urgency. They choose to protect their own back pockets by double checking on their members even though the members life is at risk! Why ask for disclosure of pre existing conditions if you re going to double check anyway in a moment of crisis? Why not give authorisation and upon their 2 week investigation period should they find a pre existing condition was not disclosed then decline the claim? Their order of priorities and processes are ridiculous and put peoples lives on the line! People pay for medical aid because they cannot afford private healthcare in a crisis so why would they be able to afford a R45 000 deposit upon emergency admission while Medihelp take their sweet time doing non life threatening investigations!? What is more urgent, an investigation or a persons life? Medihelp clearly think the investigation is more important than their members lives and put them at risk every time this happens! The treatment from them is disgusting, call centre abrupt and supervisors literally refuse to take calls! Absolutely appalling!

By far the worst medical aid available in South Africa. They will do anything to get out of paying for basic medical treatment. The make everything impossible and their "generic medicine policy" is only good as long as it fits their pocket. Absolutely horrible service, they make everything difficult for clients and providers alike. Please don't waste your time and money. Rather pay a little bit more and get 10 times better service from literally anyone else.

would not recommend , i am paying cash for sessions and the claim payment dates are the 10th, 20th and last day of the month. which never happens on those days and they do not respond to emails. There call centre is useless

Switched from Discovery to Medihelp. Exactly 11 days with Medihelp my boy had to be rushed to hospital on the other side of the country and believe it or not EVERYTHING was taken care of. "RELIEVED PARENT"

Worse Medical aid by far. I have never been treated like this my whole life time. . They just debit your monthly fees even when they terminate your medical aid. Been fighting for more than 3 months to settle an Mri Scan since lockdown... We had no waiting periods. But when it comes to settle accounts, they looking for excuses not settle this account. I have to phone them several times, send several emails.. Waiting 3 months to be advised that they terminate your medical aid immediately. Medihelp do not give options for you to go back to your previous medical aid, they wait for your 90 days and then backdate you to your enrolment day so that they can terminated your medical aid. Then according to other medical aid when you apply then it looks like you did not have medical aid for 3 months.. Their service is help them for there own benefits. Please let the public be aware of your services. They want your all pedigree when they ask for 12 months information , they mean your whole life time. Will not recommend them at all!

For 12 years been a client. Try to down grade on my plan due to financial difficulties. Apply for down grade to suit my finances . No down grade due to some board members decide what you can and can not afford. On the end I had to cancel. But then you need to pay for the month you canceled and a extra month. They tell you it's back dated. But when you join, you pay in the beginning of the month for the month but if you longer then 2 years they change to back dated so somewhere I paid for 2 months that I wasn't covered..

We changed from Discovery to Medihelp three years ago - how we wish we had changed sooner! We speak to actual people on the phone, our claims are generally all approved and we are not passed from one person to another when phoning in.

Well done Medihelp - you actually care about your members.

I think it is utterly disgusting that specialists on the Preferred Network are not paid in full for consultations. Also specialists on the Network charge for in hospital procedures that are also not fully paid by Medihelp. What does it help that we are on one of the top options and still have to pay out of pocket

Eknis al meer as 4 jaar by medihelp.

Approving a procedure and then paying only half the bill is not 100% as you claim, it is criminal. Primary school kids have more brains than that. Jack up your service and pay your dues the way we do, or get your lawyers in line, you have a fight coming. As for anyone looking to join MediHelp, do you really want to be let down, and frustrated by having to fight for your own money to be paid out as per prior approval? You'll never get your money's worth with this lot.

The service is not acceptable and up to standard. My husband was admitted with an accident on Saturday afternoon and since then nobody bothers to contact me - the client - to sort out the fact that we still do not have authorisation for him in icu.
I received 2 emails, and according to me the doctor treating him must sort this out, but even the hospital can help. But do not phone Montana Hospital, they are rude, unhelpful and do not care to put the phone down in your ears.
Now how must I resolve this??? It seems I must pay cash, just because of useless service and people

The time I had to spent on the phone just trying to get a authoritarian number is ridiculous. Do they only have 3 consultants? I spent more than a R100 on airtime trying to get the authorisation number. So disappointed.

What ever you do, DO NOT, join this medical scheme. They will do anything in their power to escape rendering the service of cover once you need it. Also don't expect replies on emails when you make inquaries. This medical scheem has def gone down the gutter from what it used to be.

Except that in this case you are actually not following the law. And your policies is written by you to benefit you.

VERY BAD SERVICE ALL ROUND...I have been a member of this scheme for over a year now and they still cant get my chronic meds right. The people that they have dispensing the chronic meds are completely incompetent and talk a load of drivel without checking the notes already on the system. These Mobile meds people are enough to give you a heart attack. This morning once again we went from me having 2 profiles on the system to there being no meds dispensed for me (after I received an sms to say they have been dispensed, keeping in mind they once again just did their own thing and sent meds they felt like sending which were incorrect and then expected me to take the incorrect meds back to a doctor in Bellville when I live in Kraaifontein, to them telling me I must go and collect the correct container of pills in Bellville, which had already been arranged last week that due to them sending the incorrect meds they would deliver the correct ones to my home., to this woman telling me they will not be delivering the meds to me but to the doctor, she didn't once check the notes, but as zi say this has been going on for over a year and one would think that after a year things should be plain sailing. Not to mention that when you are lying in hospital because of one of your chronic conditions and they refuse authorisation for a procedure that you have to have done to save your life.

I would never recommend Medihelp to anyone. Had the worst experince with them that I ever thought possible. When applying for membership with them, be sure to somehow, even if not clear or asked, document EVERYTHING in your life since almost birth even if you have ever bought Panados over the counter, you need to inform them when applying. If you don't your membership may be cancelled and although you think you have medical aid and medical cover you will be extremely surprised at the fact that they decide you dont have and cancel your memebership. I was very shocked with the whole experience with Medihelp.

Absolutely horrible no concern for their clients ...

Absolutely horrible no concern for their clients or the client's safety! They refuse to cover the only medication that can prevent certain people (me) from committing self harm! I have been admitted in December 2017,have had a really hard time after been on sooo many medications which only made it worse, now, finally something works but yet, they say no! Insisting that the medication that they DO cover, should work for everyone because everybody knows that all of us will have the same outcome with medication, noBODY is unique and more, or less sensitive to certain drug interactions.

So, why are there always warnings about not being allowed to share medication with any other person
