Rooms were spacious and ok. Hotel is nice but is an older one. Took 3 rooms to finally settle down. First room had roach that fell out of wash cloth, second room the TV didn't work. Got a free breakfast for the roach incident. Not good enough for a supposedly 4 star hotel. Also 2 pineapple and rum at the top bar on the roof came out to $31. Overall disappointed in stay. Most positive thing I can say is that it is at a very convenient location right next to bars and restaurants.

lets start with the positive things... design of hotel, rooms and rooftop nice. The lady (saraya) wrong spelling for her name but that's close enough, she proved excellent service. she check my wife and I in room 459 8/8/19 the room looks good at first, but after looking around we saw water marks and mold from the ceiling. we took picture and my wife sent it to management, then we got the chance to look at 419 the same issue then to room 319 ok, but the toilet didn't work properly and no cell service and their wifi is really weak in there, so we stay in their anyways. the most negative part of our stay was when requested house keeping on 8/10/19 in the morning before we leave for our excursion they came clean the bathroom but didnt change the sheets on the bed so we ask about about 4 times 1 hours in-between by now it's about 10pm at night. front desk claims all rooms are book so can't even change room. Finally a house keeping lady that dont speaking any English came to our room asking why we want the sheets change on the google translator 10 min convo going back and forth bout the sheets like she didnt want to change them because it doesn't look dirty. she really wants an explanation so my wife left out the room instead of going off on her and i decide to watch TV like this really is unbelievable. now another housekeeping guy came and help her to change sheets. Don't let others ruin your vacation!

The first time I stayed at the Mayfair about 3 years ago the service was excellent. However, this past weekend I stayed for a wedding and my stay was simply unacceptable. Everyone that stayed felt the same way.

When you arrive you are greeted by a sarcastic, female concierge - these employees obviously don t understand their job. The hotel charges you for everything and they don t include breakfast, which I m okay with. What irritates me is the staffs lack of professionalism.

Please consider a reputable hotel like the Ritz or Four Seasons for a similar price tag. Mayfair, please spend less money on over seasoned food and more on waitstaff training.

Love the environment. I was well taken care of after a minor mistake was made with rooms. Treated very well, everyone was so nice! We had a large tub inside our room and loved it. The design of the room was gorgeous! Very happy!

Crooks, liars, scam artist General Manager Axel Gasser and Event Coordinator Matilde Campo have stolen $7200 of the deposit to my dream wedding after trying to change my wedding date while battling breast cancer. Staff is awful!

Do not book events at the mayfair, they will cheat you out of your deposit money if you experience unforeseen circumstances before your big day!

The management team is unethical, lied about not being able to give me a new wedding date and said I could no longer have my wedding there because it was too late because they were unable to book another venue or even work with me on a new date. They also said I was no longer allowed to have my original wedding date back which was supposed to be 1/16/2016 and they refused to give me credit, reschedule my event or credit any portion of my deposit. I have proof they booked another venue on my day and stole my money even after booking another wedding on my day. Here is the bride and groom who married in my ball room on what would have been my wedding day.

This management team is the worst of its kind! The hotel is completely run down and they cut corners to gain profits and cheat customers.

I wish i could give this zero stars. This hotel has so much potential, however it is not a good place to stay. We changed from our first room because the outside area was filthy and faced a wall that was falling apart, then the second room smelled musty and had mold growing inside one of the picture frames! We immediately packed up to leave and the gentleman at the front desk, Robert, was very kind and offered a full refund. It s unfortunate he has to work somewhere that doesn t value the health and safety of their guests. We went to the Hampton Inn 5 minutes away and it was night and day! Sparkling clean! Don t risk your health with the Mayfair at Coconut Grove!

The hotel was once extraordinary. Pure luxury in the middle of a privileged area like Coconut Grove.
The rooms are awesome. They are huge suites that are well designed and well cared for. I was surprised at how reasonable the minibar prices were. Not cheap but somewhat reasonable. Especially considering the exorbitant price of the hotel.
In general, the hotel lacks some improvements to align with the times. It has become somewhat outdated.
The most worrying thing was not being able to find stairs between floors 3 upwards. We asked and the answer was that there was not. He did not leave us very calm.

We had to evacuate the hotel twice in the middle of the night and the fire alarm kept running every 30 minutes.

The "suite" has a wall 1 meter away of the terrace so the terrace is terrible.
It also has a jacuzzi that doesnt work

I booked this hotel for my 1 year wedding anniversary. This hotel appears to be beautiful online and is not at all what you see on their website. When we arrived at the room, it smelled like mildew. There was mold on the rim of the lamp coverings, the sliding doors and the hotub was dirty and not working. We were given a second room that was just as bad. The list can go on and on! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The Mayfair Hotel and Spa has Japanese soaking tub...

The Mayfair Hotel and Spa has Japanese soaking tubs (that are dirty and don't work) that make your private terrace unusable. It also boasts dated rooms and decor. The only amenities seem to be a surplus of lamps, none of which are associated with light switches in any way.
We don't play, so we got a suite for more than $450/night. And it was trash! It had 2 showers, which is great because 1 didn't work and if it hadn't had the backup shower, we would have smelled like the booze it took to make us fall asleep in this raggedy hotel still on us at work the next day.
If you want a really great luxurious Miami experience in the coolish Coconut Grove neighborhood, I'd suggest getting 2 rooms at the Hampton or at a Holiday Inn, because at least those places won't be dirty and you might get a mini fridge in your room.
As for service, I never really noticed any so I can't comment. If you prefer amenities and don't care about decor, the Mutiny seems to be the play. We stayed there last time and it was fine. It had a kitchen and a usable patio!
If you just really like lamps and want to feel like you're living in the Bogart film The Maltese Falcon, The Mayfair just might be your dream come true. (PS so sorry about your dreams.)

Great alternative to bigger chains and in a good location for walking around bayside and coconut grove. Staff very friendly and rooms good size with big bathrooms and hot tub on terrace. Lovely rooftop pool but bar there and in main lobby expensive. Recommend staying here.

Positioned in such a way that it can be a good reference point, near the ocean and Coconut Grove, it lacks cleanliness. It needs to be updated in terms of the quality of the rooms which are not quite up to its 4 stars. Another sore point, the hotel offers absolutely nothing in the overnight, breakfast buffet but at a high price. Ditto for the staff, listless and seems annoyed.

Well located in Coconut Grove, however the hotel is a little old, the rooms deserve to be refreshed, for this price range the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired and no free parking so price / quality ratio really very mediocre. I would not really recommend this property.

Not sure what's happening here, but it's not good. Service on the rooftop was horrible. Cheese on the pizza has changed and so has the ceasar dressing. Both the pizza and the Ceasar Salad have been awesome for years. Not anymore. We will not be going back anytime soon. It's too bad, we used to love it. Please pay attention and fix it, Mayfair.

I stayed at this Hotel for my sisters get away and it was NOTHING less than amazing from the time of check in to checking out. First off I can not thank the hotel staff enough for accommodating the 4 of us check in was at 3 pm we arrived around 10am and with problem at all Medna (special thanks to her) was able to check us in right away and even offered to take care of our belongings if we wanted to step out for breakfast prior to going up to our room , which let me add the room was beautiful. Very clean, spacious we were upgraded to the Ashter suite which had a jacuzzi on the balcony. Very relaxing. If your not so much into the night life I recommend this location. Restaurants and bars with in walking distance. Short Uber ride to Biscayne market place which is were we spent most of our evenings having drinks at Phat Tuesdays. Roof top bar is a must see at night. Book this hotel you won t regret it

Large spacious rooms. Gym facility minimal - 2 cardio machines. Nice area - expensive but safe to walk around with nice bars and restaurants. Hotel appears dirty - due to aging tiles and stonework but had a nice character. Hot tubs in room don't work anymore and have been superceded by spa facilities. But nice big bath and TV in bathroom too.

Saying housekeeping needs to be improved is an understatement! We have had to request our room to be cleaned eery day and it wasn't cleaned at all for 2 days. When they came on the second day, she said they were out of towels!!
The receptionist people have been rude from day one.
Ice has to be ordered from the bar so more tipping!
If you like large rooms, this is nice, but you will have to keep it clean yourself.

We really like the valet so that we don't have to be looking for parking. We will recommend this hotel and no regret whatsoever.

I am beyond outraged at the lack of sincerity, mismanagement and service I received from the front desk staff at this hotel. First of all, the pictures on the website looked nothing like the real rooms. The first room we got on the first floor smelled of mildew and had dust particles all over. The tub was not clean and the TV did not work. Moreover, there were charges on my card that I had not authorized. When I went to the front desk to cancel my reservation per the cancellation policy of 24 hours, they said I could no longer cancel because I had checked-in late and had it had been 24hours. This was a lie as I had made my reservation at 3AM on Saturday, March 14 and we went to the front desk to cancel at 1130. The front desk person lied and said we were too late and said that even if we left we would ve lost our money. Now I have pending charges on my card that will not be cleared from here to 5 days impeding on my scheduled vacation plans.

I am writing this on here because I was not able to find a contact number or email to complain. It is unfair that your customers have to go through this. A response would be much appreciated.

We were getting married in coconut grove so ourselves and our guest all stayed at the mayfair. The ENTIRE staff was so very welcoming and went above and beyond to accommodate us and everyone else. They were all extremely welcoming and made us feel so special. The Mayfair was One of the biggest factors of making our weekend unforgettable. The Mayfair it was a breathtaking experience if there's a better word to describe than perfect I would use it. I have nothing bad to say about the entire hotel and the entire stuff. It blew my mind. If I could relive the experience again I would do it 1 million times over.

Hotel is very nice, staff is nice but not very knowledgeable. You have.to ask for everything including ice and wine opener. Because I had to ask for a wonderful opener the associate ruined a wine bottle that I brought. Would stay again though, the soaker tub in the room had a 30 dollars one time fee.

Great place to stay. There isn t parking at the hotel but you can park in a lot nearby. The hotel has a huge indoor open-air courtyard.

Our room was nice. You can tell that it was a really high class place at one point. Though it has lost some luster, it is well maintained, clean, and still nicer than a lot of places.

I always get a kick out of rooms with a tv and telephone in the bathroom.

My love affair with the Mayfair has ended. I have stayed at the Mayfair more times than I can count my parents live in Coconut Grove and for the last 20 years I've lived in Key West and I always stay at the Mayfair. I've noticed a slow but steady decline and our last visit the room was not clean and things were in disrepair. I have attached some pictures of hair, hair that isn't mine, filth on the toilet and black molds on the door jam. The small magnifying mirror in the bathroom wouldn't stay in place and I have difficulties putting in my contacts because the mirror wouldn't stay in place. Our phone didn't work. I asked housekeeping to come and reclean the room and pointed out the different things and still when I return to the room there was hair, dirty toilet and black mold.
I reiterated everything at checkout but much to my chagrin the front desk gal didn't seem to care and didn't offer any type of compensation. I would have been happy with just some type of gesture an upgrade when we return or taking our valet fee off of our bill, small but a nice gesture. that's all...
OH!
An apology would have been nice too.
I'm heading to Miami this weekend and sadly I will not be staying at the Mayfair.

I stayed here a few days ago for one night. I visited Miami for my birthday and chose this hotel based on a past stay and the fact that it had a spa. When we arrived there were construction workers directly outside the building making a lot of noise. I immediately became worried as I had a spa appointment that day. The only available spa appointment times were before the check-in so I was told I could leave my luggage with the hotel while I'm at the spa. When I arrived at 12:15pm, I was checked in immediately. This worked out in my favor as my boyfriend was also with me. He was able to hangout in the room while I got my massage instead of him having to find somewhere to go. Upon entering the spa, I was greeted by the lovely receptionist. My massage was great but the noise from the construction flooded the massage rooms as they are directly next to the construction outside. It was so loud towards the end I couldn't hear the receptionist speak when I was checking out. The rooms are nice and clean. The building is old but has modern touches and has a unique factor to it. It has an open atrium in the middle so there tends to be a lot of mosquitoes and moths getting into the rooms. I was annoyed to find mosquitoes in our room as I welt up when bitten. We decided to have a late lunch at the Spartico restaurant located in the hotel and all I can say is...don't waste your money. The food is nothing special, it's overpriced and the serving sizes are for toddlers. I also questioned a foreign looking item in one of the dishes I received and the cook didn't even come out to our table to explain what it was, like most restaurants. Overall, I am indifferent about staying at this hotel as all of my stays have been short and I spend most of the time away from the hotel.

WORST HOTEL MANAGEMENT EVER!! Great location, that...

WORST HOTEL MANAGEMENT EVER!! Great location, that's it! THIS HOTEL SUCKS! I've been in the travel business for over 30 years and know hospitality. The staff and management of the Mayfair are the WORST I've EVER seen! This is a very tired property in need of renovation and not close to being a 4 star hotel. Of particular note was the $26 per day valet parking, plus tips. When the valet went for my car one evening he left the garage severely over revving the engine and burning the clutch on my BMW and delivered the car to me with a strong burning smell. This was witnessed by the staff as well as the MOD and documented accordingly. I subsequently asked in a letter how the hotel would like me to proceed as I need to get the car checked out. I've been ignored completely. I'm not an opportunist looking for something for free, just need some accountability for the possible damage done to my car by their employee. The arrogant attitude of this hotel management is appalling. They don't care about you or any other guest. There are plenty of nice hotels in the Grove that would appreciate your business. This isn't one of them.

Hotel staff was nice and accommodating. That's probably the only positive thing I have to say. They did take over 20 min total for me and the person in front of me to be checked in.

The rooms were not great, at all. First off the smell of must was overpowering. The room didn't not feel or look clean, hottubs inop. (Wasn't told this), the lock on the back door was broken, tub not fully clean, dusty and dirty most places, bed was average comfort at best, soaps were hardly even usable, really low end. See photos of the room attached.

The rooftop pool was nice. Asked for a margarita from the bar and they couldn't make it because their margarita mix was "frozen". I asked for a frozen margarita, don't understand why it wouldn't have worked lol. Anyway 15 min later I get a "margarita". Whatever, it wasn't great but it got me buzzed.

The space for wedding venue was decent and I'm sure priced accordingly. However it wasn't amazing. Wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you've very low standards.

I have never been more disappointed or disgusted after a hotel stay. Had I not been attending a wedding at the hotel within a couple hours of me checking in, I would have found somewhere else to stay. As I was getting ready, I found a roach crawling around. My feet were so black from walking on the floor for an hour, I had to wash them and wear shoes the rest of my stay. There were blond hairs all over the place. It wasn t mine because my hair is dark brown and purple, so I have no idea when the last time it was cleaned. The toilet didn t flush properly. One of the closet lights didn t turn off properly, which made it difficult for me to get to sleep. The headboard was loose, so every time I would turn my head in my sleep, the headboard would bang against the wall and wake me up. One of the times I woke during the night, I found another bug crawling on me. And when I got out of bed in the morning, my leg was covered in bug bites that weren t there when I fell asleep. To top it all off, when I went to check out, there was no manager on staff that I could express my concerns to. I was told they wouldn t be in for a few hours, but that I could write down my issues and expect a call back regarding them. It s been two days, and no one has contacted me. The wedding and ballroom were beautiful, so at least there s that. But the bride did find a roach in her room, as well.

I booked a single night stay at this Hotel through Expedia
Suddenly I saw a large amount of money was taken out of my Credit Card account.
I called to get an answer only to find that "mysteriously" a few extra days were added to my reservation.
They promised me to correct the booking and refund me immediately. I asked to receive an email that would verify this in writing. I never received this email and my account was not credited immediately.
The next day I called again only to find out that they plan on keeping my money for 5 business days.
I believe this to be a scam. You are on your own but be warned!

This hotel was the Absoulute worst! First we book through Priceline and they claim they did not receive our confirmation even though money was already taken out of our bank account. Mayfair claimed we can just pay for the night AGAIN Then suggested Priceline would refund for us and they did not on top of the front desk assiociate by the name of Alan was very unknowlegdable as to how to help with the refund and ended up charging us FOR A THIRD TIME . This was outrageous the bathrooms were rusty and 2 out of three elevators were not in service. Understood the hotel is historic but things do need to be updated to accommodate guest. After explaining the situation to three different "managers" one finally decided she could extend our stay a few hours n confirmed refund will be in 3 business days when our flight leaves to night. Great. :-)

I had one of the worst experiences in all my stays at a hotel. My wife and I were in town for a wedding. From the moment we signed up to the moment we left we felt the communication was terrible between the staff. Rates were not changed to our wedding rate and had to track down those rates to be able to have them. During our stay I was part of the groomsman in the wedding that was being hosted. All of the groomsmen were given gifts on day 1 with personal letters from the groom. These gifts and personal letters were taken at some point when the room was not occupied. When brought up management did nothing offered no help. On top of this the rate on my room was still incorrect and I had to point this out for a second time. i hope this place can get their act together as it is a beautiful location with much potential.

We booked a room at the Mayfair Hotel for a week t...

We booked a room at the Mayfair Hotel for a week through a travel agent. It should be a luxury hotel.
Unfortunately, all inquiries in advance of the booking (baby cot, etc.) were not answered by the hotel. That shouldn't be the case with a luxury hotel.
In the Mayfair Hotel, however, there is no trace of luxury. The room we got the first night was dark and damp, it smelled of mold. Furthermore, the room was totally shabby, broken furniture, tiles falling from the walls in the bathroom, etc.
It was also not possible to ventilate this room, and no drafts were possible.
That evening the reception asked via SMS whether everything was ok, we described the above. Circumstances. We also informed the front desk that the room is not worth the price in the least. We were then promised a room change for the following morning.
This room change also took place and we got a room in which we felt better, but which is also far from luxury. The air was better, the room lighter too. But this room also had some shortcomings:

- Room was not cleaned one day, despite demand
- On the balcony there was still a bag of chips from the previous guest, which was ignored every day and not cleared away
- Exhaust air in the bathroom did not work, therefore humid air in the whole room
- The minibar is in the wardrobe and is connected to the same circuit as the light in the wardrobe. If you close the door, the electricity goes out and the minibar no longer cools (we had to throw away all of the baby food on the 2nd day because it was inedible due to the non-working minibar)
- Furniture is old and worn
- 3 light switches in the room, one of them without function
- Balcony doors in both rooms were difficult to open, the moldings are totally dirty and rusty
- the jacuzzi on the balcony is a joke, it's more like a barrel with peeling paint. Unfortunately, the bin doesn't make a neat impression either, so you don't dare to sit in it (in fear of fungi, bacteria, etc.)
- the terrace light cannot be controlled / switched on separately, if you want to switch the light on outside, all lights go on. You then have to unscrew the lightbulbs so that there is no light in the room
- But if you turn off the terrace light, almost all sockets are without power. This means that electrical devices cannot be charged

We then found the following defects in general:

- Pool area partly neglected, defective sockets
- Reception understaffed, after 5 minutes the calls were not answered. Nobody can be reached in an emergency
- no kettle available, if you are traveling with a baby like us you need warm / hot water. This must be ordered each time and is not available at short notice
- Ice cubes are only available for a tip

But there were also 2 positive things. The staff is friendly, the breakfast surprisingly good for a continental breakfast.

SO DISAPPOINTED!!! To start with we did not get the room type we had booked. Room was nice to look at but had a terrible musty smell. We spoke to management about it but nothing was done. The room had hairballs on the floor, dust on the lamps and baseboards. The worst was the soap scum around the bathtub. We thought we might use the hot tub but when we opened the balcony doors we found that the deck was covered in sand and gravel. We then opened the hot tub and were disgusted by the moldy smell coming from it. Once again we spoke up and they did come and clean the tub, however, at this point we had no desire to use it (check for extra charge for using hot tub). Very noisy, found it hard to sleep. If this hotel was in a different area other then Coconut Grove they would never be able to charge the prices they do. Even is someone can get a deal at this hotel it is still not worth it. Did I mention that a cup of coffee at the in house restaurant is $5.00. Don't waste your money!!!
