It appears the rooms have been somewhat updated lately. The beds are firm and very comfortable. Sheets and towels were new-ish. Staff was attentive and friendly. Free Wi-Fi. Parking is expensive and a pain but location is great

Stayed here for a company get together. Great service, complimentary breakfast is outstanding, large, spacious and clean rooms. Only downside was the water having a very odd smell, bit it wasn't too much of a distraction and the hotel gave out free water bottles.

Beautiful room and view. Can t beat it. Close to convention center but have to walk past an interesting area. Take a scooter or lyft if not brave. I walked without issue but come from a big city so homeless people don t scare me

Room was great but unfortunately front desk staff has lots of work to do. Be careful of how much they charge your credit card as 'incidentals' Also the basic stuff like getting change was such a chore. There are things that as a consumer we should not have to ask for.

Really great hotel to stay in. Customer service is outstanding. They have the best hotel workout facilities I've ever been to. Great location. Only problem is that the city water smells like wet cat!

Really nice Residence Inn downtown Austin steps away from all restaurants and bars with live music. The place is really on the high end breakfast is really good too more than your typical Residence Inn. Overall I had an amazing experience

I can t say enough about how great this hotel was. The staff constantly were welcoming and friendly, offered snacks and water and anything possible to make the stay great. This was a little piece of Disney customer service in the middle of Austin.

This hotel is still being renovated but they are doing a great job. The location is convenient to areas downtown and places to eat. The gym is huge with lots of machines and free weights. The breakfast they offer is very nice compared to other Residence properties. Staff is friendly and helpful. A great place to stay near the capital region of Austin.

When I checked in, my room was not ready. I got there early so I expected that. They told me it would be ready before 4pm. I checked in again and still nothing. I had an event at 6 that I needed to prepare for and had to change for the event in the bathroom in the lobby because my room was still unavailable at 5:30pm. They told me they would call when it was available. Never received a call and when I finally made it back to the hotel at around 10pm, they gave me the key to the room. I walked up to the room and found that the door had been left propped open with the safety lock. I walked back to reception to ask about it, thinking maybe they gave me the wrong room. Security had to go check and informed me that housekeeping does this for the supervisor to go check. They had just left it open. I was nervous since I was traveling alone so I made sure everything was fine before locking myself in. My husband and I have been making an effort to book marroitts only since we became members, but this experience has soured me. Maybe it's a nice hotel when they aren't busy, but I was extremely inconvenienced and have not really enjoyed my stay.

There was a tremendous amount of construction noise the entire time we were there. It wasn't possible to take a nap during the day or relax at all with all the jack-hammering right above our heads. When we talked to the front desk they just said there was construction and there wasn't much that could be done about it. It was pretty bad.

Also, there was a miscommunication that led to one of the housekeepers telling us that we needed to checkout and leave right then because our reservation was up. I had to run back from the convention to sort out what ended up being a silly mix-up. Still, really really annoying to have to deal with when you expect it to be a friction-less experience.

In the end, the staff was very inviting and wonderful. The experience was just ruined by a series of potentially preventable mix-ups and really loud construction. Oh ya, Good breakfast though.

Room was clean and spacious. Complimentary breakfast buffet was awesome. Parking is extremely crowded but we did get a spot. Request a high floor if you want a shot at a view, anything above 6 should be enough. All rooms are close to elevator so might as well. The free wireless internet had good signal in the room and 2-3Mbps, and the wired Internet didn't work. Bathrooms are meh, nothing fancy, but the kitchenette was nice. Clean linens. Definitely enjoyed our stay and location.

What a good time past at the Residence Inn. I felt just like if I was at home. Nice pool and gym. The jacuzzi was just a bit too hot and no way to adjust the temperature. The service in overall was great.

My wife and I stayed there for our third anniversary Sunday night. When we got back home today I noticed the charge on my credit card was more than I expected. I called and talked to Matt and he fixed the problem and was very nice and understanding. We will be returning in the future.

clean, nice rooms, great staff, decent WiFi, great location - only negative is that even though the TVs have multiple inputs (e.g. HDMI), as of 11/18 they did not allow switching - so forget about using your FireTV stick, etc.

All of the staff were very friendly and helpful! Clean, neat and safe! Card access to use the elevator, complimentary wifi and breakfast and held my bag with a smile for no charge. Big bonus of Starbucks at the lobby! Room was great! Will definitely stay here again!

Bad service, stayed one night for company workshop, attendant says it costs 42.00 a night for parking turns out it is 45 and some change and then they charge 20.00 for hold on room plus another 50.00 for no explanation as to why they are charging extra., so I ask why did you charge 120.00 when i was to be charged 45 and some change for parking, really This is the worst dealing ,Call your bank they say. Well i am looking at the transactions on my card and its charged 3 times...

Staying here was one of the worst experiences that I ve had so far and probably won t try Marriott again unless there is no other options. If it wasn t for their good breakfast and welcoming check-in for my late arrival I would ranked them one star.
The first night the heater wasn t working and it was freezing and cold air coming out of the vent while I set the temp at 82. I got cold that night. Next day I stopped by reception and told them to fix it but one of the staff (a guy with dark hair and beard ) told me to just turn on a key in the closet. I did that but it just shut down the heater. I came back again in the afternoon and asked them to fix it and finally they sent somebody they fixed it.
On the second day, I needed dry cleaning service and put my clothes in their bags and hung it outside on my room door handle at 8:30 AM. On the paper attached to the dry cleaning bag it says put your clothes before 9 AM and same day delivery . I stopped by the reception in evening around 7 PM and ask them if my clothes are ready. They checked the back room and told me unfortunately they are not ready yet but we will bring them to tomorrow morning at 8am. They didn't bring them until tomorrow evening and I had to Iron one of my dirty shirt for my morning meeting in the conference. I spent 50 bucks on dry cleaning for nothing.
On the third day, I had a very bad headache during the conference at Hilton and came back to my room to take a quick nap. Just seconds after I closed my eyes a crazy guy just literally jumped on my room windows and woke me up with even worse headach. That guy hanging on a rope was cleaning the glasses from outside.
The last day when I was checking out the same guy with beard didn't ask my how was my stay or do I need the receipt. Very impolite and unprofessional. My 3-night stay cost me $1500 which didn't worth even a penny.

There service was bad... When we got there they couldn't find our reservation waited almost a 1hr to get a room.... They did alot of mistakes with the transactions at the end also so we were there for another good while trying to resolve the problems...The valet took for ever to bring us our car when we were leaving we waited almost 25 min for them to bring us the car... Wouldn't go back to this hotel honestly they have really bad service...

Such a disappointment this go round. Stayed here a year ago and thought it was godsend after having stayed in ESA for 2 months. Came back this year after having spent 6 weeks in the Domain Residence Inn. The amenities are by far much fewer, the customer service is definitely lacking. Although a friendly staff they are not very accommodating I suspect due to the limitations of ownership. I seem to keep getting a front desk clerk who apparently has been trained to state "I really don't know this is my first week" as an acceptable answer to any question you might have without even suggesting she might inquire of more tenured personnel of the reply you are soliciting. Please do not count on the same amenities as other Residence Inns, even down to the toiletries or trash disposal.

Great location. Clean, fresh rooms well appointed, good pricing for a downtown hotel. Decent breakfast included. Secure elevators. Indoor parking a bit overpriced but certainly not outrageous. Very pleasant and knowledgeable staff.

Having attended Austin for several events over the years and always staying at the Hilton (Downtown), I was assigned this time to the Courtyard Marriott and have to say it was a great hotel stay and definitely my hotel of choice for any future trips to Austin. [paragraph break]

The room is equipped with a fridge and microwave (the fridge was super helpful to me). The bathroom actually had Paul Mitchell lotion and shampoo/conditioner! (That's high end stuff for those who don't know better). The beds are comfortable and the hotel staff was quite professional. [paragraph break]

One strange thing to me was actually the layout of the room. You walked in, walked past the bathroom, and then saw the bed against the wall of the bathroom instead of in the center of the room which is what most would expect. There was a couch on the far end of the room, and I was initially taken aback by the obvious reversal of furniture. I'd expect the couch to be against the wall and the bed to be where the couch went. Minor detail, but it seemed very different to me. In fact, another strange thing was that there are no safes in the room. If you have valuables, you leave it downstairs at the desk. I didn't take advantage of that so I don't know where they'd put one's valuables. [paragraph break]

I didn't have any noise issues, but I always bring a pair of earplugs. In fact, I had a pair placed on my bed on the first full day I was out and about. Smart move, since I see some reviews on here (including from people I know!) that had noise complaints. No pun intended, but I guess the Marriott team is listening. [paragraph break]

I hate going to hotels that have crappy shades and light that creeps into your room at the crack of dawn. The curtains in the room were excellent and did an amazing job blocking out light. [paragraph break]

I was there during the DST time change, and they did us the courtesy of slipping a note under our door on Saturday night to tell us to spring forward. [paragraph break]

I liked that there were extra comfy blankets (in a protective case) in the closet if you wanted extra warmth. [paragraph break]

I also love the convenience of having a Starbucks downstairs. [paragraph break]

I felt good that security was out and about after midnight making sure that only key holders were allowed into the building. [paragraph break]

Finally and perhaps most important, I completely LOVE the business center in the hotel lobby; it was wonderful to be able to print out documents during the duration of my stay. [paragraph break]

Beyond my raves of the place, at the end of my stay, I left the room for checkout so it could be immediately turned over to the next guest due to being at the hotel during the busiest season of the year. And turned over it was. I left a spare phone battery charger plugged into my hotel room (while my actual baggage was in the Courtyard's storage area, so I hadn't officially left the vicinity) and they couldn't locate it a mere five hours after I checked out. They asked housekeeping who denied having seen it, and the new guest was already in the room by then--she hadn't seen it either. Obviously, someone is lying, and at this point, I am sure the hotel staff is responsible for the theft. Unfortunately, the hotel investigation was not in my favor, and I was out of a costly device.[paragraph break]

I had a good time and loved the hotel, but I hope karma gets that staffer who lied to their colleagues upon the search of my missing charger, and I'm deeply disappointed that the hotel's insurance company is protecting them and not allowing me to be reimbursed for a theft that the hotel staff was responsible for facilitating.[paragraph break]

Updated 5/22/14: Previously, this was a 5 star review, but it's now a 4 star review due to the outcome of the investigation and the hotel's support of thieves.

Old hotel. I have checked in since 5/29. Everything in the room is either broken or not working correctly. First thing I notice on checkin is the cabinet glass and wardrobe glass is loose. Had to call front desk for repair.
The microwave does not work well. The plate just does not rotate. The refrigerator leaks water. Few days later dish washer stops working.

EDIT: More Issues i faced later but did not update here.
1. Charging to incorrect credit card.
When I checked in I had given my India Amex as guarantee. Once my US Amex was active, I asked them to charge me to US Amex. Still they charged me to incorrect Amex and I have to bear all the conversion charges.
2. Incorrect Billing
To resolve my Credit card issue, they checked me out and checked me in again. Because of this I started getting charged city tax which should not happen after 30 days.
Due to all the issues I checked out and moved to a different hotel.
3. City tax issue
I also strongly believe they have charged me city tax incorrectly. The law says if a person stays or books hotel room for continuous 30 days or more he/she is exempt from city tax. I extended my stay to more than 30days on arrival still I was charged city tax and I have not been refunded.

Excellent property, in a very good downtown location!

it's a Marriott, so you already know it's going to be good, and this one doesn't disappoint. Everything is top-notch.

This place is easy walking distance (even on hot days!) to plenty of good restaurants and activities. It's even close enough to walk down to the Congress Street bridge to see the bats (at sunset, of course). Also, there's a train station right next to it and, of course, easy ride-share pickups.
