Favourite ski hill! There is terrain for everyone no matter if I am skiing with family or friends. Rarely a line up at the lift so you get your money worth in runs.

Marmot Basin is one of my favourite mountains of all time! As a Calgarian, I can't come out here often, but when I do, it's quite a treat. They have three high speed Detachable chairlifts (Canadian Rockies Xpres, Eagle Xpres, and Paradise), 1 Quad (Eagle), 1 Triple (Schoolhouse) and 1 double (Knob). While the hill doesn't have that much vertical, it does have the highest base elevation in Canada, and that's quite something! Marmot Basin has a good variety of runs, and since it is so high up, lots of powder. The hill does get quite cold often, so dress warm, and be prepared. Definitely come here, it's an amazing place!
Great skiing for the area and reasonably priced based on other resort
I reserved a snowboard online for rental, and when I showed up to collect it from the shop in the morning, there was no line, the staff were expecting me, had my board waiting, and the whole process was very efficient and fast. The staff were friendly and attentive. The board itself was pretty banged up, and had obviously not been tuned or serviced for a long time, but it worked fine, and the poor condition of the base didn t seem to affect the performance. All in all a great experience and great day in the hill.
My very first time in Marmot and it was awesome! If only we could've stayed longer, we would! I'd say perfect weather would be around the -10c to -15c and no wind, we'll be shredding the whole day.
We only went on the Schoolhouse side because we are still beginners but mountain parks are waaay more fun than the ones in the city.
I loved Marmot and will try to return again for another run this year!
A wonderful ski resort! The family has been coming here for decades and will continue to come here for ski trips.
Parking is an issue, go early... but once there the staff is great, amenities (covid considering) are abundant and done well. Great runs and an excellent experience
You just can't beat marmot. Plain and simple. Yes, it's nice to visit other resorts. No, marmot doesn't get the snow like other resorts... But marmot is special. Best family hill because the kids can always get a green run and meet you at the chair. You can ride right to your car so you can pack a lunch.... Even a barbeque.
My favorite place to go to for snowboarding. Little to no lines compared to the other big ski resorts. Hike to the peak is well worth it. Tres hombres and Holy Guacamole is awesome for some fresh pow.
Excellent day on the hill. Had the kids in lessons and the instructors were top notch. The youngest child was in the nursery and they were very well organized and had a blast under their care. Been to the hill many times and it has always been a great experience!
My wife had left behind her $300.00 ski goggles, we called them about an hour after losing them. Within an hour they called back, finding the goggles and shipped them out to us. Very honest team, whomever helped us, thank you!
Pretty much any ski slope in the Rockies is going to be amazing
Absolutely beautiful mountain. Conditions great, chairs are quick, nd lots of different runs for all skill levels. But I didn't see a single marmot so what's the point? 1/5 stars for an absolute let down.
Decent resort, but better places to ski in Canada. Parking is WAY too far from the chalet, especially for those renting equipment. Process for receiving rental equipment and lift tickets is unclear. Wait in one line. Nope wrong line. Go to another place. Where does the line start? Lockers won't work. Nobody to offer change. Trails down the hill are poorly marked, so you are never quite sure where you are, or what you are getting yourself into. Lots of potential. Lacks organisation and leadership.
Good all-round mountain. I come here at least once every year.
Grew up skiing here, has a special place in my heart
Awesome hill. It's our go to for a weekend on the hill.
Eski station.proximo to jasper, good structure. Good tracks
Lake Louise or Sunshine is 10 times better and same distance. All cafeteria service is poor and not open as well lines are unpredictable for wind. Safer bet is definitely Banff area.
Skiing here is amazing, for every level. Make your own lunch, the cafeteria is expensive and the menu is just your standard diner food.
Lifts are nothing special. They closed two lifts for 30m during the day. Terrain is fun. If you are a first timer, the package with lessons and lower ski pass is worth it. Super Fast equipment rental service.
Great trails and wonderful service just a bit pricey
Not too far from Edmonton and not usually super busy
What an awesome place to come to with students and family. Prices at consession are a little high but not outrageous. Only real issue is the lack of wifi in the resort. Definitely something that should have been addressed a while ago.
Had the funniest time in my life!!! the only problem was the lifts sprayed oil on us!
This was my third time skiing, and I feel like this was what made me like skiing!
Because of the extreme cold weather, everyone had to keep themselves warm in the lounge. There were many people, but the staff are doing such a great job to ensure all covid protocols were followed.
There are many great runs. Our ski levels are completely different, but we all enjoyed skiing all day long.
Simply the best. Awesome staff, amazing runs, excellent experience all-around for all levels.
Good hill. especially Monday to Friday it is very quiet
Great resort with less commercialized feel than Sunshine or Lake Louise. Slopes are well groomed, with a good variety of runs. We loved it! What a great experience fo skiers and snow boarders at all skill levels.
Favorite destination for snowboarding. Good long runs with plenty of variety
Great mountain. I recommend better ski run signage and labeling ( marking) the different runs. It was confusing where the different level end and merge.
Beautiful place to learn. Derek did a great job teaching me for my first time on a snowboard.
It was very nice, but the snow was packed down hard.
Fun hill kids really enjoy it here and the mountain is in good shape!
Very beautiful area of the world. Great beginner terrain and chalet. Lots of children at times. Great coffee.
Great snow, friendly staff. Fun mountain awesome views!
They just need some easyer hills since its very hard even if they are greens(the lowest level)
Wide open runs, decent runs for all ski/ snowboard skill levels
Well maintained slopes for beginners and intermediates. Beautiful views.
I've been skiing here since I was a kid. It's fun hill with an amazing view!
The hike at the top of the know chair is totally worth it!
One of my favorite ski resorts, especially for beginner - intermediates. There are slopes for everyone. It has a small chalet so finding somewhere to sit can be challenging. Tons of parking though that you can ski too. They have rentals available on site but i recommend renting in town if you want cheaper rates.
The distribution of run skill levels at this resort seems to best suit both beginners and experts, but not intermediates, paradoxically enough. I'd like to see more blue runs and single black diamonds. They seem to groom their less than Lake Louise, which I prefer and am thankful for. Shorter lines than Lake Louise, but also much shorter runs.
I gotta be honest, I hate the green that everything drains into. It's boring at you're dodging beginners constantly.
Excellent mountain for skiing or snowboarding. Lots of runs to choose from.
No crowds, and surprisingly a lot of terrain for such a "small" resort!
Fantastic, somewhat smaller ski resort with very nice long slopes for speed or just meandering. Lovely zigzagging or off piste among the trees. Everything is possible. Good hospitality (for Canadian level) and top snow. 7 lifts with only open ski seats. Parking free and easily accessible in 15 minutes from Jasper. Topper!
First time here, loved the experience and loved the ski hill, lots of variety of runs, many runs were wide, tons of space, tree runs with different levels of difficulty, lots of options for food, and most importantly the parking lot design is amazing, ski out from the parking lot and ski back directly to the parking lot! Loved it!
We have 2 little girls and while the skiing is great, I want to comment on the ski school for little kids. Both my 7 year and 5 year old had a great time at ski school. The instructors were amazing and it allowed us (the parents) to spend the day on the mountain without having to worry about chasing after little ones. At the end of the day, they both said that they loved it! So, if you have little kids and either want to spend the day skiing or if you want your kids to have a great time which also includes ski lessons and lunch, then this is the way to go.
I had a great time. Weather was perfect. Drinks were wet. Snow bunnies were hopping.
Dont be scared to go to the tipity top. Theres a green circle up there. Also. Great place for a pic.
Great family friendly ski hill, friendly professional staff that want to help you. The ski runs are set up so the runs dont get to congested even on really busy days. Only downside is there arent many powder runs
I'm pretty bad at skiing but I really enjoy this place. It's beautiful, with enough green runs that I can practice and not get bored! Did I mention it's beautiful?!
Staff is awesome. Keeping the peace in a fun and respectable manner.
Great hill and awesome fun. Lines for lifts are not long at all. Great place for kids to learn.
Excellent place to learn to ski, a 2 hour course for 120CAD.
Great experience getting Tres Hombres off the bucket list! Thank you, Quinn!
Beautiful couple of days on the mountain
Gorgeous hill, lots of open space, no lift lineups, and room to play.
For more complex terrain head to Eagles East or hike to Cornice & try Tres Hombres.
There are constantly events going on at the hill so watch their website for the next exciting thing going on!
The chairlifts are fast, the runs are well groomed, and the staff is friendly!
I'm here to edit my review. Skiing has grown on me due to this place. My family loves it here and I would come again. The staff is great and the facility is beautiful. I guess I will admit that I had fun.
Great ski resort. If you are ever near Jasper in winter, it is worth spending a day on the slopes. Often we find it less crowded than some of the other resorts. Also very worth coming during the Jasper in January festival when there are all kinds of activities going on.
Love marmot. Family weekend trips from Edmonton or solo day trips are possible. Hill and amenities ae fantastic!
great snow resort for all levels of skier and
boarders.
Posting as of March 2020. Lifts are alot more busy these days but Marmot always holds it down. The staff are always high energy here and it's always a good time.
Pretty views and great for beginners who want to improve their skills.
Marmot is a good place for beginners as well as those looking for more advanced runs. Jasper in January makes it cheaper to go as well.
Gem of a ski resort. One of the few mountain resorts where beginners skiers/riders can enjoy green (easiest) runs from high on the mountain to the bottom. Very family-friendly. Marmot also has gnarly terrain for expert skiers. Another great feature is the ski-in, ski-out parking. It is great resort to enjoy a lunchtime parking lot picnic in the spring sunshine. There are also good on-hill eating/bar options.
The resort has excellent groomers, glades, etc., and awesome hiking-accessible runs (double blacks) for adrenalin junkies. Its lift system is outstanding - lineups are rare.
I was definitely happy to have found this treasure! Overall great experience with great staff!
Facilities could definitely use an upgrade. Chairlifts are often not working.
My first time there this season, an avalanche supposedly wiped out their first power source. They were then using backup generators and they also ended up failing...
This weekend, the Knob chair, which accesses the higher alpine terrain was closed for maintenance. They had just received 15cm of snow. I wanted to ride pow. Oh well... Had to hike up for my turns, still had a great time.
The mountain offers actually really great terrain, very diverse mix of runs. High base altitude means colder weather, so the snow stays nice and fluffy. The food at the lodge is decent although overpriced, just like at any other major resorts...
It would get a better rating if they were to upgrade some of their facilities, their age is showing.
Changing the opening date last min you should of been more sure now i have a hotel room this weekend and no hill thanks for nothing
attach 1 or 2 plastic boards on feet Go down fluffly ice water. Fall down and break everything. Good fun. Go now.
4 stars out of 5 ..only because of the high prices in cafeteria for the type of food you get - coffee and pop extremely overpriced !
All the staff are very friendly and helpful and the mountain is great to ski ! Love it !
Great place for the kids to learn how to ski. We put them in snowschool for a few hours and they did great after. Our instructor Niklas was great with the kids and very friendly. I'm excited to go back.
a family favorite, especially the mid-mountain lodge. The only major complaint I ever have with Marmot, and I'm sure the designers would have tried everything to reduce this effect, but the valley-bottom channel above the mid mountain lodge that collects almost all of the upper mountain skiers is just a perpetual hazard of human soup. There are just too many people in that narrow channel, so there are constantly collisions and near misses.
Great time at Marmot this weekend. Can't wait to get back!
