I would never eat here unless the price of everything on the menu is dropped by at least 20%. Waste of money when you can get a more tasteful meal for cheaper elsewhere in the French Quarter. I did need a to-go box due to the large portion but I would be much more satisfied with better tasting food (even in a smaller portion). I got the catfish almondine ($20) and the catfish meat itself was completely tasteless. The flavor came entirely from sauces they applied to the fried skin around the meat.

Celebrated my mother's 70th Birthday here. It was so good. We had a spot in the back next to a window, intimate it was. Large portion sizes on the seafood platter, my mom and I shared and we still had leftovers!

You always feel so at home in New Orleans here. Fried oysters, shrimp, sofy shell crabs, fish and onions rings as well as their gumbo and turtle soup cant be beat. Service is always attentive. It is the quintissential neighborhood place here.

i ordered the seafood platter for both of us, and it was plenty. We had both already had gumbo and turtle soup, so unfortunately I was stuffed by the time the big pile of fried seafood goodness arrived. However, I still had the ability to eat most of my fish, and really enjoyed the fried oysters. I should have asked what type of fish, but didn't because I had drink too many Long Islands at that point. We really enjoyed the food, I will surely return, to this place, the next time, I am in the big EZSLZY.

Mandinas has won me over, Great food, service, and the Red Beans were to die for. I took my girlfriend and grandmother here and they have been craving it since. Mandinas makes Neyows look like McDonalds

Classic New Orleans neighborhood place

While it was my first visit, family members are frequent guests here. I tried a barbeque shrimp poboy special, which requires a fork and knife because the saucy goodness made it too messy as a sandwich. My turtle soup starter was dark and rich, full of flavor and made perfect with the Sherry topper. Now that I know the nightly specials, I'm planning return trips based on those.

Great food and have enjoyed eating here every time I am in town. I love the turtle soup and had the crawfish cakes which were delicious also.
The spaghetti dishes can be split between two people or you will definitely have enough for the next day.
The service is good and everyone is pleasant and helpful.
I highly recommend on regular basis.

Our server was fabulous. A very matter of fact woman who made her purpose known and did her job RIGHT. I liked her a lot. However the food is SUPER HEAVY and messed up my stomach for DAYS. Now, I say this with trepidation because I do lots of eating in NOLA, but the fried fish almondine just put me off food for a few days. I had to take it easy, which is not what I like to do when I'm surrounded by the best food in the world.
The food was good and it certainly could have been because I had never had the kind of fish they had on the menu at the time, but beware. It's a meal and a half.

I want to say that the food and service is very good. However 2 ice teas , and 2 soft shell crabs w fries $60.00 . That's before tip. I think pricey for a neighborhood new orleans restaurant for lunch. It was very good though.

We went here because we were told we "had to try turtle soup" in New Orleans. I wish we'd been able to find a different place that advertised it. The soup was like canned beef stew with an odd boiled egg on top that was slightly broken down into a weird texture, the catfish came so covered in tomato sauce you couldn't even see it, the shrimp tasted like it had been frozen previously. The table next to us got a salad and it was literally a half head of lettuce (you can't properly wash lettuce when it's served that way), three THICK slices of tomato, and then inexplicably, two steak knives were shoved into it. It was definitely not worth the money. The server was nice, though. And sidenote: The one random tv was an odd contrast to the "semi nice" restaurant atmosphere they were going for. I wouldn't go back even if I lived right next door.

A well known neighborhood place where you stand at the bar while you wait for a table, but stay out of the way of the waiters. Generous portions in the $6.00-12.00 range. On my last visit, I had a really super dinner of crawfish etoufee and a great bowl of gumbo along with some of the best shrimp remoulade I have ever had. The loaf sandwiches are very large, the 1/2 is like most wholes and no mortal can eat a whole. Ed the waiter may seem surly, but he's a good guy, pay attention to his advice! Often crowded. North on Carrollton to Canal St., turn right on Canal, go about three blocks, it will be on the right side of the street.

Started off with the shrimp cocktaiI and turtle soup. They put small shrimp on top of old, watery iceberg lettuce, and poured cocktail sauce on top of it. Really, who does this?!! My wife and I had to pick through that mess just to find shrimp lathered in that mess. Turtle soup was decent but not impressive, and didn't taste fresh. I then ordered the $30+ seafood platter with the buster crab, and It was terrible. The buster crab was nothing more than a fried ball of mush. How can you mess up fried food? I could have gotten cheaper and better elsewhere. This meal was truly unacceptable, and I won't even get into the service.

Our server was awesome. The place is always packed and smells good, but what we ordered for food was not as tasty as it was pricey. Make sure to order the half poboys unless you want 2 feet for $30! Our fried oysters weren't that good either. Theres fruit in the bread pudding too so heads up.

Had Stephan as a server. He wasn't too chatty, but he got the job done quickly and efficiently. I swear our food came out in 5 min of ordering. Fantastic!!! I had the spaghetti and meatball. Will defently ask for Stephan again as well.

Had the Gulf Fish Lafitte which was outstanding! Also whole heartedly recommend the shrimp remoulade with enough shrimp to make this a full meal as well as the turtle soup with sherry. Wow.

Our server (Johnny) was great and answered our questions, ehich prompted our choices. What a nice selection in every area--daily specials, seafood, and reminders of home cooking. Such a nice experience.

Visited Mandina's on a recent trip home. This is one iconic, NOLA neighborhood restaurant. So many have Italian origins, but represent the broad, casual, creole, palate common to the neighborhood joints of New Orleans. Gumbo, fried Louisiana seafood, sandwiches, steaks, roast beef, muffaleta, stuffed artichokes, classic Italian dishes, etouffe, red beans and rice. Do you know what it means...?
