Love this place and have since I was little. Spectacular gumbo and red beans and rice. Can't wait to come here when I head back to nola. Friendly service, usually a crowd because the place is so good and well known!

Incredible creole food beloved by locals and visitors. The food is authentic and the portions are, in New Orleans style, huge. I've come here with my family my whole life, and the [fish of the day] almandine has always been a favorite. We went last week when we had family in town and I had the eggplant creole it was like a giant crabcake with eggplant in it, I was in heaven. I think that's the first time in my life I've gotten full off of crabmeat. Mandina's is the perfect taste of New Orleans food and culture.

Crowded and a little on the loud side, but the food is totally worth it! Large portions, excellent vegetables. I had the eggplant parmesan and it was absolutely delish! Would definitely eat here again.

Great food and service. Wonderful place to meet up with friends. Gets crowded at lunchtime and parking lot will fill up. Prices are only slightly higher than the average restaurant, but it's not your average restaurant.

Came here for the Veal Parmesan and was not disappointed. The sauce was rich and flavorful, although the veal was a little tough. I think next time I might try the Chicken Parmesan as it should be more tender. The Crab Fingers in Wine Sauce was a big hit with everyone (although they work out to be $1 apiece). Fried seafood was light and crispy, with good-sized portions, and my wife raved about the green beans. Free parking is a nice perk, but the restaurant itself is small and very noisy. In the future, I'll be sure to avoid it on game days!

By far one of the better Creole/Italian restaurants in New Orleans. A little pricey, but well worth it! They serve large & small crowds well. Arrive early, for I think they don't take reservations, unless it is a party of 6 or more!

First time trying this restaurant. I will return. Order a seafood platter. One of the best seafood platter I have had. Thier Crab ball is to die for. Everything on the platter was so freaking good. Will be back on Friday

Local restaurant that's been serving great seafood, poboys, gumbo, italian classics, and New Orleans favorites forever. Great service, large portions, good prices. The pink restaurant on Canal St. has what you're looking for when you want to eat like a local and stuff you're belly full. My favorites are the Gulf Fish Meuniere, Gumbo, Chicken or Veal Parmesan, and the Milky Way pie for dessert.

As an out of towner this was a fun "more local" place to visit. Had the shrimp po boy and some of the legendary onion rings. Rings were delicious DO NOT MISS... The po boy was good but not great. Needed another 4 or 5 shrimp for the price. Service was efficient but disinterested. Excellent atmosphere. Maybe just a mis-order?

The absolute best spot in the easy! When you see a fat lawyer in a seersucker suite with suspenders who looks like he just stepped off the movie lot you know you're in a "local" locale! Food stands the test of time!!

I absolutely love the food!!! Everytime I come home to visit it is one of my first stops. The only issue I have is that the staff is a bit rude and condescending. Because I like the food so much I thought it was just a bad day for one staff member however it has happened several times. I also noticed that I was never given my change in my hand. It's always placed on the counter! It is done constantly and I really do feel it's rude.

Good food. Generous portions. Had to wait a while to be seated. A little on the expensive side, but you get your money's worth. Had shrimp and oysters and fish fillets. Daughter ordered jumbalya, but was disappointed with the flavor.

I wouldn't recommend eating here unless you're particularly keen on folksy charm over good food. Perhaps we chose the wrong things, but the vegetables in particular were depressing. Peas, carrots, and beans should be crisp and delightful. Here they were wilted and grey and felt, as another reviewer mentioned, like they might have come from a can, even if they didn't. Both of us felt that our food was too oily (beef stew and seafood platter). The restaurant itself has some charm and a retro vibe but we left thinking it was the worst food we'd had on holiday.

We brought a big party here at the end of June. Server was horrible and as it turned out padded the bill with multiple items (about $50 worth) we never ordered or received. Food was fine but service was not. Manager never called me back to discuss the issue even after multiple attempts on my part.

We stayed at a AirBnB house across the street from restaurant. We were only there for two night but we ate at the restaurant for four of our meal....WE LOVED IT!!! It was great to order ahead and pick up after alone day of being out with the family. The food it fantastic. It is great because we have a very picky eatter, one that only likes hamburger, one that is on a Keto diet (what ever that is). Then there is me and my normal grandson that will try anything. (Our age range is 10-65 and there was 6 of us.)

If you get a chance you must try this place but I have two requests. 1- you try it at the beginning of your trip cause your going to fall in love with their food. 2 - watch out for the claws in the gumbo they just might surprise you....lol

Bon Appetit...

My wife and I have been there several times since I've moved back into town and haven't been disappointed. My folks brought my sister and I here when I was younger and I will continue the tradition. The staff is courteous and attentive. Worth the ride of 35 miles once a month.

Old restaurant that has such a cool classic New Orleans vibe about it. The food was amazing and they give you some pretty big portions so you'll have some for later. It's along Canal Street so the views are pretty nice of the trees and trolley cars that pass by. Staff was really friendly also, I was a bit new to that style of food and they made sure I was happy with what I selected.

First time in New Orleans for early Mardi Gras. Someone recommended this place for food. I ordered the grilled catfish with potatoes & string beans. It was good and I enjoyed my meal. And service people were very kind. Locals overheard we were from out of town and we're so friendly to come over and give us tips on places to go & avoid. Place could use an update on decor but overall was comfy and clean and enjoyable.

You cannot miss this casual New Orleans classic. The seafood gumbo is the signature dish. I love the dressed roast beef poboy. There are fish and Italian dishes as well. Look for the daily specials. The wait staff is naturally n'walins. Relax with something from the enormous wooden bar. I've been going here since before I was born and it's part of the fabric of the city.

There were so many good items on the menu that we had a hard time choosing, AND we were hungry. So we over ordered because they provide huge portions. They will split orders to share and this way you can taste a variety and then roll yourself home with a very full but happy tummy. Can't wait to go back!!
