Vending machine faulty: it takes the money, but doesn t give you anything.
Boarding rushes the passengers through, even if the plain is not ready.
The passengers are stuck on the corridor and stairs between the gate and the plain for at least 10 minutes.

Nice airport, clean, well-arranged, friendly staff, modern ... because Berlin can cut off several slices ... but sometime ... maybe, ours is also finished

Convenient airport. It is growing year by year. Changes for the better. Over the past 10 years has changed a lot. In Duty Free there are some products that are almost identical to the prices in the city, which pleases. You can pay for goods in Euro and in frints by presenting a boarding pass.

The international airport of Budapest, but not large, houses around the airport are not built much.

The worst of the worst .... I really want to avoid ..... Avoid if you can avoid it. It looks like a market floor and a lot of delay. This is the biggest airport in Hungary.

Everything is easy to find, the service staff is nice everywhere. At suitcases, security checks, cafes ...
It is important that there are designated smoking areas on 2B. If you do not smoke in the designated smoking area, you may be penalized.

BUD is a lovely airport. The look and feel is quite modern, high ceilings, and tons of light. If you have children, there is a play area on the second floor. There are multiple choices for food, from Burger King to local organic food. If you are the shopping type, you are not going to be disappointed with the choices.

That is the worst airport in the European. I never thought Hungary well treat me like that . Before I travel I look . I did a lot of research about and I finally decided to come Budapest to do my teeth veneers and have look at the city . But what I thought it was totally different. I been arrested in airport waiting to be deported back to UK . Now I have my British travel document .which allowed to travel anywhere except Iran. For European union you don't need visa . I spent a lot off money rent hotel fly is all gon. 2 police officer come outside with me to smoke. They treat me like criminal offence. I'm heartbroken. Sad and tired. Where's humanity . Budapest first day in 2019 thank you

Never ever have seen soooo dirty toilets!!! Its early in the morning...really sad for budapest

Some important information before flight. After you arrived at the airport you should ho to Terminal 2B (T2B) if you are travellimh with any low cost airlines or El Al, Qatar, Air China, Emirates, Finnair. If you flying with a national airline you should go to T2A (Lufthansa group, Airfrance, Klm, Turkish, Aeroflot etc. After you should go thru the Security. You can go on both terminals in. You get on the same place. After the sec zone you should go to 2A for all Shengen flights, and for non shengen flights to 2B. The prices are very high at the airport. But its clean and modern. //ITS THE BEST AIRPORT IN THE REGION FOR 6 TIMES//

After the baggage reclaim you should go out and check the Official partners of BUDAPEST AIRPORT Minibus > MINIBUD or the official Taxi wich you can find outside the Terminal building > F TAXI This 2 company are giving you the best price to reach Budapest.

You should definitely use E200 bus to reach to city center. Taxis are expensive.

Stressy. The check in hall and security were chaotic. Massive disorganised queues snaking in all directions, so worried we were not going to get through security on time for our flight, an hour queuing before they finally decided to open up the other terminal and we had to run to the other end of the airport. Seriously stressful. Ruined the end of our Xmas holiday with my husband's mum.
I hope when the building work finishes we will be ok for our next visit and they sort the massive problems.

Before flying to Budapest, I read the reviews about the airport and, to be honest, I was a bit nervous as the average ratting was only 3 stars. After landing in this airport then leaving a few days later, I can tell you: fear not. The place is modern, convenient and provides a good level of comfort to the most demanding passenger.

Arrival:
After the landing, we disembarked through a jet bridge as we would in any modern airport.

The immigration control area was a bit on the small side I must admit. There were about 6 officers on duty and no automatic control machines. It was unclear which queue was for all passports and which one was for EU/Switzerland.

Immigration officers seemed professional and focused. EU passports take about 10 to 15 seconds and non-EU about a minute with systematic biometric check (you put the hand on the finger print reader).

No racial profiling or any unhealthy attitude. All passengers treated the same.

Took about 15 minute wait to get through the immigration. They don't do better at Heathrow or Gatwick. But still I believe that the immigration area is a little small for the airport.

Departure:
There was a small queue at the security and a board indicating 15 minutes queue. Just to try it, I went to a machine and paid about 5 Euros to get a ticket for the priority queue. It took me 3 minutes from end to end.

The area after the security is vast with plenty of restaurants, coffee, shopping places and even an outdoor coffee place for smokers.

Then when you walk to your terminal, you have to pass through immigration. Queues are short because control points are nearer to the gates. So they have multiple control points.

At the gate, there are again coffees, shops... etc. Even when you are at the gate seated and waiting for the boarding, you still have the option to go for shopping or get a snack.

The airport is well connected to the city with taxis (one single company), shuttles and a bus (100E).

Honestly, it provides an experience in par with Gatwick or Heathrow.

Confusing and strange layout in the front. Staff were okay..

On June 16, I was twice at the airport. My daughter came to handle official matters. I went for it and took it back. In both cases I drove into the fast parking lot. When I arrived I stopped, boarded, had no luggage and we left. When exiting, the automaton indicated that 5 minutes had elapsed. There was a security guard. Definitely said that does not exist, that last 5 minutes, she pressed the button inspector who told you and then released without payment. I didn't understand, I don't think it's been 5 minutes. In the evening, when I took my daughter back, I got out again, hugged me, let go of a car parked in the parking lot, and we went when they were told again that the five minutes had expired. Sure, big crowd, I can't say, but it shows 6 minutes. I went to pay (behind me, of course, according to good Hungarian custom) and then I was surprised, because for my alleged 1 minute overrun, I paid 2000, or two thousand HUF. I was very outraged, but I had to move on. At home I checked certificate issued by the parking machine on which I saw interesting things: enter 18:34 18:39 exit. We were after the debate and went to the machine on foot. And then it was 5 minutes. Then what now? The whole thing is outrageous. I add that I paid 1600 Ft in the holiday car park before because I was waiting there in the morning. clock is then you count full clock. I think the procedure is unfair. I'll complain.

Airport with a large dutyfree zone, cold staff unwelcoming but we are in Hungary and it's quite general, not easy to reach the city center quickly with public transport, bus and metro, better to inquire before arrive to find out which ticket to buy and where to go. Before getting on the plane we are parked in sheds like cattle, original ....

Rude and scruffy staff, blaring "instructions" in Hungarian.
The departure area is clogged by tourists as there are no waiting areas, nor a better a way to keep the traffic flowing. Security was fast but almost got reprimanded for not placing my things in the tray with utmost speed. I got away with an angry look.
The shopping area and the food court are spacious, alas, not enough toilets.
The horror bears the name Gate 12-19, Ryanair and Wizz Air departure, where first you wait crammed in a hangar with no seats, no AC, no toilets - I'm starting to believe it's intentional - no ventilation, can't imagine how cold it is in winter. After this you are made to wait outside to bord in the machine what it feels like the way to the abattoir, in a metal construction covered by a plastic plane. A quick and dirty fix.
The arrival area is tiny as well, passengers from 3-4 planes waiting simultaneously for their luggage, again, no ventilation.
I'll do my best to avoid this airport in the future ...

From the worst Airports.Check in 2 people to serve 5 flights departing in the next 2 hours. aircraft fuel. It needs a lot of improvement in all areas.

Before check-in it is no man's land, afterwards it becomes welcoming.

An airport that I visited on my trip to Budapest. Unfortunately I had to try the baggage loss service because I lost it in Frankfurt. The clerk was very attentive even with language problems. In addition, they took our luggage directly to the hotel that same day as I arrived on another flight.
The indications are very good and not being very large does not give you the option to get lost.

Overcrowded, overpriced, too hot even in October (don t event want to know how hot it gets in August), no train connection to the city. I guess Budapest deserves an airport upgrade.

Really bad experience. There is no space at terminal for check-in and bag drop. Security is a charade and personnel extremely rude. If your gate is a12 to a19 be ready to embark by a shed without waiting area, just a line.

It is accessible from the back of the airport on a good quality dirt road. From here you can see the runway. Very interesting, especially when a larger machine arrives. From road 4, take the roundabout to easily get there.

After living here for 5 years I finally decided to 'review' the airport. The positive is that it is possible to arrive and go through security quickly compared to other airports (may need to purchase a 'fast pass' for 5 ) but generally due to the small size airport there are not crazy lines.

Unfortunately, there are not great food options and long lines at any place that is quick and you want to eat. Upon arrival, it is always a terribly long wait for seemingly any checked bag. The worst way to end your travels is wait 20 mins for any bag to arrive. Helpful staff at the airport is difficult to come by. The taxi monopoly of the FoTaxi is also not great. Would prefer at least a few options.

The small size is a benefit when in a hurry and quick get to your gate, but in general the airport has a lot of room for improvement.

Also, to call the BUD airport lounge "sad" would be generous. The food is absolutely horrible (compared to any other European airport lounge) and I eat anything. Lots of ways to improve.

Quick and efficient. But very few ATM access upon arrival. The taxi kiosk was hard to navigate (given that the error messages are in Hungarian),. It that is just to skip the queue for a taxi. Taxi service from the airport was simple enough, but you will need the exact address for drop off when booking.

Expensive , services terrible . You can buy a sandwich for cca 8 euro . Wasn't able to pay with forints via card in Hungary!! Made us rush to the gate saying "last call" after 45 min delay , only to make us wait an extra 45 mins before boarding.

You can only get flight information by calling a premium rate number. The information on this site has not been updated, so if you just don't want to poke around, you can chew your nails and wait for the miracle that you might be leaving ... Outrageous

Chaotic. Few spaces for waiting. More comfortable free zone. Gate 12 to 29 chaotic little protected passage. Hopefully, it won't rain, it's not too hot or cold.

Nice little airport, can cover it end to end on foot in 10 minutes or less. You'll find the restaurant at the first floor as soon as you finished with the security check.

Small and old airport. Counter s service is not good. If the can t answer the question, will give the the irrelevant answer. English is not good too. Every sentence I need to repeat twice, it s very tiring. Shops are small and nothing special to spend time at it. Biz lounge is small too and good is cold bread, some chips, cold fried chicken ball...definitely need to improve a lot.

I had a very good experience here. Some nice options to eat, reasonably good (and free) wifi. I took the 100E shuttle, which cost 900Ft (<U$5). The shuttle is punctual and goes from the city centre straight to BUD. The first shuttle leaves the city centre at 4 AM, which is early enough for the first flights of the day. I highly recommend checking in online beforehand. I went through security in less than 10 minutes, but the check-in area was crowded at 4:40AM. It could be a problem if you re catching the very first flight in the morning (6:30).

While the victory announcements report an increasing number of passengers every month, it is as if they have forgotten that this needs to be developed and expanded proportionately. However, there is no news of this, the new passenger pier, which was handed over in the summer of 2018, does not aim for this purpose, but only to serve overseas flights. But what a shame?

0. Airport escape is obviously not the fault of the airport, nor is the domination of the Budapest taxisafia. The BKK 100 bus is a fair solution, although there are problems with capacity, staff manners and language skills.

2. Security lines usually go down correctly and quickly, even if they look big, but that the lines hanging in the check-in lines is untenable, chaotic and opaque. This issue could be solved by extending the cordon part in about a week (this is the amount of time the required amount of cordon can be obtained) if there was a will to do so.

3. Where I ve been to the airport so far, nowhere have I had to wait that long for my luggage. 10-15 minutes is still okay, but my time has been robbed several times longer by the fact that the package management is insufficient from both the personal and device side. Invest, pay higher and provide better working conditions! And then let s not even mention thefts, which are known to fall into the category of organized crime, and it s common sense that how airport management can tolerate this.

4. The "green corridor". 10-13 million people go through it every year. For many, this also contributes to their first experience of the country. Is this really the only room where screens praising the already unused screening equipment and the Hungarian furniture production of the 1980s have to be stored ?! These gems have been around for approx. they ve been there since I first flew in 2011, but if I m wrong, I ve been around for years. Can't the other wall surfaces in this hallway be sold for advertising, too?

5. In addition to all this, SkyCourt was on the right track, although as a visible development it has diverted development money and will from investments in truly burning capacity. In return, the airport can boast a part with the right services (with the right, not cheap, but where is it ...?) Of appropriate aesthetic quality.

Overall, I can give a benevolent triad to this, but only because not all of the problems indicated above are of a general nature, constantly occurring.

Hungarian Airport Delay is a heavy and slow international airport that is slow to deal with work. Do not go to Hungary on an airplane. I stayed over the airport for an hour and then went back to my starting point. I do not get the rewards and hotel rewards. The returning plane also got delayed for an hour, so the transfer route went crazy.

A nice small airport for quicker transactions, while entering the terminal the pass port control is easily located and accessible but... when you are leaving the pass control is just closer to boarding gates and if you have not provided sufficient time for it you can be under pressure . i checked at security and they informed that there is no pass port control for departures. I would say the pass port control is very efficient and fast in clearing long Q s. So no worries but be aware of the need to stamp your passport for departures .

The lowcost companies are isolated from the main building probably for economic reasons but also by a big lack of infrastructure.

First stored in a hangar, then moved gradually towards the plane in sheet metal shelters surrounded by grids to melt in the crushing heat.

The airport is very well signposted. For those arriving: when exiting to the left there is a bus stop to go to the city center. The line is 100E and costs 900 florins (3 euros more or less). For those who are leaving, the best thing is to enter and pass the controls to enjoy the waiting room where the services are, the souvenir shops and different restaurants such as Burger King, Costa, kfc ... There is even a park for children

Had to wait on plane for ground crew to bring steps to plane, further long waits for baggage and customs avoid this place!

Clean airport. Not too busy during the pandemic. The signs are a little confusing. I speak both Hungarian and English and I was still confused to find my way from the check in to the passport control. It was a side way that took me to the other side of the building. Maybe it was early morning and I didn t pay attention.

Make sure you have the required covid test results with you or otherwise you will be turned away from the airport and can not get on to your flight.
Most people spoke English at the airport.

If you are arriving to Hungary you can schedule a Covid test ahead of the time online and be tested right at the airport.

I traveled in February 2021 and not many options were for coffee and for food. This is very unusual for Hungary. Be prepared!

They have a few funky chairs. They are so comfortable before/ and between flights!

Lots of tourists and the airport is very small. Long ques. The toilettes are not clean and shattered - the taps are not working, the toilettes are broken there is only 1 handdryer/ toilette... shops are ok... theres only 2 bars at the whole airport plus the tiny ones.

Very well organized throughout the airport. Although it is quite small, everything goes very fast!

At first a bit confusing. There are 2 terminals 2A and 2B. Sometimes you have to make sure that the flight does not change the terminal. But otherwise good. In the morning the security was very fast. There was no rush. As for the check-in with luggage, I do not know. But I saw snakes in front of the counters. After the security area comes a relatively spacious area with shops and cafes. Everything is neat. I have experienced much worse airports.

The best atmosphere is none of the airports give it like I think! So far this is my favorite!

Thieves 24 euro for 2 coffee and two croissants and the worst part is that the prices are displayed and have nothing to do with what they cash you. Run away from this snack. The staff is useless, the passage to security is endless, the worst airport of my life!

Nice airport in Europe, good mood. However, the transport between the airport and Budapest is not very good, and the airport prices are quite Western European too.

New terminal, but no rail connections. Lots of chokepoints for crowds, resulting in long waiting times. Unclear signage.

Terrible airports. Hot and stuffy, air conditioning isn't powerful enough. Not enough check in counter causing a crazy long queue. Basically the entire departure hall is the queue. Not enough chairs. People have to sit on the floor like a refugee. No food stores around the departure area as well. Toilet is badly maintained. The wifi is only free for 2 hours, how unbelievable! The service is so slow that they have a paid fast track lane for people who arrive late at the airport. Ridiculous!

As long as we get to fill the bus that takes me to the cheetah, the chauffeur shuffles the motorcycle up and all the bumps are thrown on the passenger. They also became ill.

When you arrive by bus to the airport, it stops at the inscription "arrivals", boldly go there, on the right there will be a staircase, departures on the second floor. If you do not need to check in or check in your luggage (to the left), go right again and scan the boarding pass in the automatic gate yourself. Also there may be an additional employee to help automatics. After this, personal inspection will immediately begin. It goes quite quickly and clearly, we passed about 10 minutes. And now, after the inspection, it remains to wait until your gate is announced.
Many questions always arise about hand luggage. We flew away to WizzAir, they didn t find fault with their backpacks, they went through everything. We had a standard, 20 liters. A few passengers with bags slightly larger than the rest and carrying cases on wheels were offered to check the hand luggage in the frame. One had to pay 25 euros for oversizing.
People didn t pickle people on the buses, they didn t fill them much, they flew out to the minute, exactly at that time. In general, there was a feeling of well-coordinated and precise work of all employees.

Well, it wouldn't hurt if the subway came this far.

This is unhealthy place, trust me. The capital airport which is not suitable for the number of daily passengers operating it. Too crowded, always busy, always messy. No one even tries to solve this mess. You have to stay in a line, then you will be sent to another line. This is reality. One of the worst airport experiences in my memory.

You dont have 1 coffee machine on hole airport after everything close so funny

Check-in takes a bit of time for rush hour flights but everything is very well organized. On arrivals, several options to get to city center, can be chosen based on budget

You can go about this airport in one of 2 ways: Have fun or not.
The fun option: Get there at least 4 hours ahead of your departure time and watch the incompetence unfold, knowing you'll (probably) make it in time.
The not fun option: Get there only 2 hours ahead of time, hope that the check-in and security is not overcrowded and have lots of stress.
Also, DONT book your parking ticket online. We did that and the scanner at the parking entrance didn't work - we pressed the "help" button but the guy on the other hand didn't speak any English and after we pressed "help" again didn't even pick up again. Just go there and get the ticket at the entrance, it costs like 5 euros more but if you travel from Budapest you have to be fully aware that you are 100% on your own and there is noone even bothering to help you. The airport inside and duty free area is nice though, even though the check-in area is WAY too small for the people travelling from there, resulting in queues where you'll wait for hours.

I asked him whether any meat in it. He said NO. But there was Ham. Also very rude customer service....

Nice to be here, modern, nice clean place, but a little disorganized. The check-in of the package is not clear where it should go. Some are sent to the long queue, others are not. The staff is very comfortable, they are not very there for the passengers, they are moving like some 80 year old back injuries. The manager is probably on leave.
At KFC we got a second-day straw potato :( And the burger was cold: (, but the coffee is great.
There is also a packaging machine here and it is not expensive, very practical!
