I give two stars only because the part of the airport before the gates from 12 to 19 and on par with any other European airport. Instead from 12 to 19 you are in a shed similar to those of the chicken farm, without bathrooms or seats.
I have traveled a lot and have never seen an airport for the departures area (boarding and check in) of this type.
I boarded at terminal 2, at the entrance you have to elbow to enter, the area is small and there is no living space.
Unclear information at check-in, kilometric queues at boarding, I arrived at 10 for a 12.30 flight, fortunately my flight left an hour late otherwise I would have missed it.

The transportation from airport to urban area is quite convenient. People can take the Bus. By the way, the exchange rate in the airport is not very good

I will be traveling in a few months and I am already thinking about the solution so that the waste workers of the Budapest International Airport with glued hands will not steal anything from me. Very functional airport with car rentals literally two steps away
Waiting over 30 minutes in a barrack is a rather average experience. I prefer not to know how it is when temperatures reach 30 degrees.

The airport is very small and we couldn't see much as projects were being done. The departure was very bad. To get to the gate for boarding the plane we walked in the cold and the lounge was a dock with minimal seats to sit on so we were upright. The boarding was unacceptable. We were literally waiting outside the airport, in the cold and it was snowing, to get off the other passengers and then to get in. Great hassle.

You can catch a flight here. Birds flying in the departure lounge, never seen it before but it is a good touch. Good smoking area for the nicotine gang.

Bags started to arrive 35 minutes after landing when we were the only plane in sight. Probably to have enough time to steal...
No drinking fountains after security. Staff at restaurants and cafees laugh at you if you ask for water for your flask as well. The establishment "Camden food co." even filled flasks with hot water while laughing. Terrible!

Hated the experience . They kept us in a very overcrowded bus for more than 10 minutes. There was no air conditioning, we were under the boiling sun and the doors were sealed shut. It was so horrible, everyone had sweat down their faces and arms and people were banging on the doors. We were in front of the plane so there was no reason for keeping 60 people in that situation.

The airport is very small and busy. I wanted to go to Starbucks, but when I get inside the gate, I do not have Starbucks.

I have been using this airport for many many years (10+) and i feel like it's getting worse. They cut down the normal security lanes now to make it a lot more crammed so people would pay for the priority lane. Definitely trying to rip people off when they can.
Staff are very unfriendly and rude most of the times.
The budget airline gates are outside in a chicken coop like area. It's basically a metal shed where in the summers you boil, in the winters you freeze. Also there are no seats in these areas. Horrible horrible horrible. You normally have to spend between 20-40 mins in this area and it's definitely not a good experience.
The 100E airport "transfer" bus is a joke, overfilled with no real spaces for luggages and for people.
Catastrophic. The passage of security is a real mess, ridiculously small and in my opinion ineffective. Terminal signaling 2 is zero. Only the duty free zone is of quality. Terrorists can come here. No passport control.
Great airport does get busy but you get through the queue quite quickly. Be careful of all the ignorant sods pushing in front of you. I find a quick kick to the back of the knee works a treat or an elbow to the nose. Happy flying.
When returning from my great trip to Budapest, the Airport was easily accessible and very spacious. Airport security was exremaly fast and a very good standard. There were many shops after security, and it was a pleasure to fly from.
It depends - the early mornings, cramped with lots of low-cost departures can be a nightmare, but otherwise quick & peaceful.
Large airport well stocked with shops and Food Court. The gate announces it only an hour before the solo and therefore it is a bit inconvenient. Fast checks and check-in procedures. Few places to sit.
SHAME. Because of the inexperienced staff I had to pay a fee of 900 huf for luggage, I was not curious to put my label on luggage. The plane ticket was departing from terminal 2B .. and the plane was at terminal 2A. There is no staff to guide you to the place of departure ... I reached the terminal 2A and no trace of the plane, the boarding was done from a building near the terminal. In 40 minutes while I had the transfer, I risked losing the flight.

I d give this a minus star if I could. Avoid at all costs. A friend of mine had to buy a new ticket because there s just a single counter which accepts payments on behalf of the airlines. We made it to the airport on time, two hours in advance. However, with a single payment terminal and an unmarked queue which wouldn t budge for half an hour there was no feasible way we could get to our flight. The heated crowd in the picture nearly started a fight with the people behind the counter. The only people who work in the main hall are the outsourced representatives of some local service company. There s no information desk (only a broken telephone stand) and not a single living person representing the airport. The service company people refuse to call for a supervisor or an airport representative. Moreover, a lot of gates are located in hangars in the middle of the airfield. Atrocious.
Modern main terminal but the low cost "container" building made this a nightmare. Nowhere to sit and standing for literally 1.5h until we were finally able to board.
Easy and uncomplicated. Relatively short walk to the concourse, fast but thorough security check. Gastronomic offer very good. Get your luggage relatively quickly on arrival. The outdoor parking, the waiting there and the way there are not that great. The corrugated iron hall to the outside parking position acts like the forecourt to hell. Fits the otherwise chic airport so not at all.

Nice airport inside but when it comes to going to the gate from 12 to 19 very bad located under the canopies, excessive heat in summer, from a city like Budapest I didn't expect it.
I took the bus 100e from city center. But a ticket at a blue ticket machine. The accept contactless payment. There s also an app you can use to pay with your smartphone starting in June 2019 but I wasn t able to yet that.
The bus was pretty hot maybe due to everyone opening the windows instead of letting the air conditioners work. Anyways, the trip was about thirty minutes with minimal stops and it let us off right between terminals 2a and 2b. My flight was in 2b and thankfully I didn t have to check any bags because man was there some long lines for bag drop.
Once I got through security with no trouble I was happy to find they had a lounge upstairs that would work with my prioritypass membership. Yippee!
The staff was distant but you help yourself to everything anyways so it was nice to use the wireless and get some drinks and snacks while waiting for the flight. A short walk to gate c14 brought me to passport control where there were no lines and lots of happy agents waiting to process us through the border.
I will miss Budapest and hope to be back someday. Until next time!!!
Poor airport. They do not even have a speaker. Disorganization at most, scrawny is rather annoyed about their work. Not to mention the smell and unsanitary conditions !!!!

During a night flight change you cannot pass a control zone. Staff is on duty, electric gates work but staff returns me back under the reason my flight is on the next calendar day.
There is no waiting area, not enough seats in front of check-in counters, no clock-round lounges, no workable cafe after midnight.
A lot of people just sleeping on the floor. Observation terrace is open but there s only seats under open air.
On the arrival you way is passing thru reconstruction area and pools which you should jump over. WC entrance is so narrow that you cannot go out if someone is entering simultaneously...is it suitable from fire-safety point of view at least?
I would not recommend to anybody else to make a connection via Budapest airport.
Good average size areport. Clean, easy to navigate, good meal options. Sometimes the check in area gets really crowded, I think they should think of expanding the area and you should definitely arrive earlier if you don t have priority option on your ticket.

Airport fairly up to date, the only flaw is that some gates are in a separate wing and you have to go through the open sides to reach them.

The airport is OK. The staff there are so friendly NOT!! We asked a female staff where to go as the sign was not very clear and she looked at us and totally ignored us. The waiting area has hardly any seats there. People all q by the gate and very hard to get through and go to the gate u want to.

A comfortable airport. Light and airy with adequate shopping and dining options. Improvements being made all the time. Ample parking and quite easy to access from the city by car.

Pleasant airport. big gastro offer! Airport prices when eating (a menu at KFC, BK or MC about 8-9 ) .. Transportation to the city is also very fair. The waiting times are fully in order.
Not very clear airport. Be careful what you turn. There was no inspection at the entrance, we stood in a queue, the longest and the closest to the exit, that it was already personal inspection that they had passed. Well, that employees had one of us to pass the luggage. Otherwise, everything is tolerable. It is a pity that not all employees speak English.
At 8am nothing ist Open beside the super expensive Stores behind the security control. There are almost No toilettes for men. This airport really sucks
A very small airport is crowded for the capital. There are cheap flights, free wi-fi and shuttle service to the city center, if you have an early flight.

Security check can take some time. If you take the taxi to the city of Budapest as it's the fastest (around 30 minutes without traffic jam), choose for FoTaxi, the official company. Tickets available just outside from the airport. Should cost around 7000 HUF to the city center.
Disorganised, rude staff, and if you have a better quality bag make sure you wrap it otherwise they will open it to steal

Whenever you can, try to avoid arrivals at this airport! Arrived on Friday morning and had to wait more than one hour for immigration (EU resident!). About 4 aircraft arrived at the same time and only 2 immigration counters were open. Highlight was the closure of one counter for approx. 20 minutes, maybe for some coffee? No e-passport gates, no recognizable queue, only chaos...
Landed at midnight, but even with the minimal staff there, the place was still surprisingly clean!
Everything is kept organised and civil.
Only reason it's not 5 stars is due to the scummy people hanging around. I've had shady people approach me and ask me if I want to buy "genuine perfumes" in cash only ....
