A ride on the Maid of the Mist in Niagara Falls, NY is a spectacular adventure. You feel the power of the Falls. Riders put on a long plastic raincoat to prevent getting drenched. It s so exciting to be at the base of the river and feel the tremendous power of the mighty Niagara. We were there Labor Day weekend with long, long lines to get tickets. It was surprising talking to the guides while waiting in line that only a few ever rode the Maid of the Mist. Employer needs to make sure each guide experiences a ride so they can pass on the excitement to tourists. Guides need to mingle more with tourists and not with each other. They need to encourage tourists to return with family and friends.

We knew going in that this was a must do on our list. It was our first visit to Niagara Falls and was on top of our list. Our family went at 9 30 am on a Thursday (5th of July). It was not crowded at all. I had high expectations from the Maid of the Mist and it delivered. You can't capture the beauty in pictures but take it all in while you're on the ride getting really close to the Falls on both the US side and the Canadian side.

You cannot come to Niagara without a trip on the Maid of the Mist. There is a moment when you are in front of the Horseshoe Falls where all you hear are the falls, all you feel is the mist, and all you can see is the mist and the top of the HS falls - you really feel totally cutoff from the world and a part of it all. You simply must do this.

I recommend it is a unique experience, for the Covid-19 the capacity per trip is less than 50% and the price is $ 22.25 you have to stand in line with their respective distance.
They give you a poncho which is very good.
But the wait is nothing compared to how magnificent it is to be so close to the falls of the falls, that you enjoy it !!

To thoroughly experience Niagara Falls, I would recommend forgoing the poncho. Nothing like the refreshing mist of the falls to wake you up in the morning! Everyone was nice from the ticket lady to the boat crew. Highly recommended!

Wow you have to take this ride. Up close almost too close to both the American falls and the Canadian horseshoe falls. So close you can not see or hear anything except the road of the falls.

Nice

Really amazing! You will get wet even with a poncho, but it's so worth it. Hard to believe the power and beauty of the falls when you are up that close! We didn't do the Hornblower tour on the Canadian side even though we went to that side as well. I don't like how huge the Hornblower boats are and I wouldn't want to be stuck behind all those people trying to get a picture.

We went about 30 minutes before closing and there was no line at all. We just hopped on the boat! It was an amazing experience, but be prepared to get DRENCHED. We were cold and looked like wet dogs afterwards, but experiencing horseshoe falls up close was worth it! Also they give you a free postcard with your ticket!

This boat tour under the Niagara Falls allows you to admire the powerful jet of water on the American side and the gigantic concave shower of Horseshoe on the Canadian side. The half-hour tour, always popular, allows you to have the best point of view on the waterfalls. A disposable raincoat is provided. Be careful to protect your camera from splashing water.
The tour starts from the US side. Previously, in 2006, the Maid of the Mist was carried out from the Canadian side ... now replaced by another initiative.

Excellent experience, something unforgettable! If they go and the tour is available, they have to. 100% recommended, the view is something beautiful! The force of the water, the drizzle. It is perfect!

Best of what you can experience at Niagara falls. It's hard to see the falls though due to the mist it creates as the name suggests. Long wait times on popular times. They have 3 elevators in use.they also give you to cover the body from the water spray when near the falls.

The tour itself is great, but the company that runs it is a disgrace. We waited 2hrs to get on the boat, and then another 2hrs to get out. This is because the entrance is connected to the boat by elevators only. So when 2/4 elevators were broken, 500 people had to wait in the sun for 2hrs in order for the remaining elevators to take them to the exit. Two people fainted because of the heat, but still the company couldn't be bothered to bring us some water while we were waiting. Moreover, they were still letting more people in, even though 500 of us were already trapped between the boat and the exit.

To add insult to injury, there are stairs that go only halfway up to the exit. They could easily extend the stairs all the way up, thus providing an alternate/emergency exit. But they prefer to keep visitors reliant on the elevators, despite the health hazard.

We spent a total of three hours during the Maid of the Mist tour. On a Saturday be prepared to wait in the extremely long lines to exchange vouchers for tickets, enter the elevator, get on the boat, and walk up American falls, and wait to exit. Overall it s a unique way to experience an iconic waterfall.
Atmosphere could be improved by better/ more informative signage for line direction (this would reduce cutting in line and customer confusion). Recommend separating lines for obtaining tickets for individuals who pre-purchased tickets and those who do know.
I would also suggest playing some kind of music/speakers during the line/wait.

Love it. Great view of Niagara Falls and Rainbow Bridge over the Niagara River Gorge. If you can then don't go on a long weekend. It gets really crowded and its really hard to find parking spot.

You can buy tickets online or at the entrance for maid of the mist. Or you can buy the discovery pass.

I have uploaded few pictures that I have taken from the maid of the mist tour.

Our very first encounter with this boat tour's customer service was when were called several times a couple days before our tour to ask if we could present our tickets on our phones as we were camping and unable to print them. We called during business hours every time and our call was never answered. Not once.

The next experience was with a young staff member at the front of the ticket line. We simply asked him where we should go if we already purchased tickets online. And we only asked because the line to get tickets was very long and we were on a tight schedule. He was pretty short and somewhat rude with us as he told us we still had to wait in the ticket line.

It was a really pretty boat ride... However, there is absolutely no point in pre-purchasing tickets online. In fact, it held us up quite a bit and made us quite late. There was another family in front of us who bought there tickets online as well. There was no apology, or really any sort of customer service offered as the staff struggled to figure out what they would do with our digital tickets. Also, I understand that it was busy, and the staff members do this all day, but they were kind of rudely shouting at us to "fill in the holes" of the line, like cattle.

My suggestion would be to get with the times, make pre-purchasing tickets online worth it, or at least figure out a system to scan them efficiently so families don't get held up.

You shoes will get soaked so wear flip flop/sandal if you can, then change when done with the tour, unless you enjoy wearing soggy shoe/sock for the remain of your day. The Cave of the winds , however, will provide you with disposable sandals and bag to change/store your shoe prior to the tour. The falls at night are illuminated with changing colors, fire works at 10 PM

This was such an awesome experience! There was barely any wait time at all, even though the park was very crowded today. The boats depart every 15 minutes and the tour lasts about 30 minutes. The boats hold a LOT of people. If you are worried about it being very time consuming, it's not! The staff members were very good at getting everyone on board quickly. Be prepared to get wet though!!
