We ate burnch in the Lemon room on Mother's Day. It's a semi-private room, with one table, set between the hallway and the main dining are for the non-buffet. We were seated right away and Gail, our server, greeted us and asked about drinks. We ordered coffee and let her know we were waiting on the rest of our party- 5/8 had arrived. She was very attentive and congenial. Due to time constraints and not knowing that the last two people wouldn't be coming we we're asked if we we're ready to order. Gail let is know if it weren't for reservations, two seating times and crowds waiting for openings she wouldn't have asked just then. There was a special fixed menu and the two soup/salad and entree courses were prompt but spaced well enough where you could enjoy the meal without feeling rushed. Our items included clam chowder, garden Las and wedge salad followed by baked salmon with a dijon crust, roasted lamb, lobster casserole and prime rib. There was Indian rice pudding and chocolate creme pie for dessert. All of the food was delicious, especially the best damn pie ever made, but the real reason to go is for the setting. Experiencing the Wayside Inn is getting a historic tour of the Inn and Longfellow's restaurant, seeing the outer buildings and walking the grounds.
