I have been coming to this location since the 90s. Bought my first real Guitar there! Lol. Meet some very cool staff along the way and continue to do so. Great selection all the time! Ive found countless great deals on Guitars, effects etc over the years. Ive sold gear many times and have always been treated fairly!
I've been dealing with this store for the past 3 years that I have lived in Scarborough. I used to live Downtown and that was my main store before I came here. To all the people complaining about the lack of service and bad attitude here, I'd have to completely disagree with you. I've financed more than 4500 dollars worth of Equipment ($2500 Recording equipment for Drums, $800 mixer, $899 Taylor 214CE, $599 used Gibson LPJ guitar, $499 Yamaha Flamenco Guitar, etc) in the past 3 years and have not had the tiniest issues. Mike (The Finance manager who approves finances) is very nice and knows all his customers by name. You need to understand that they do not do credit check, so they need to know who you are and to be able to finance equipment to you. I come from a bad credit due to stupid mistakes I made with OSAP, but this store never judged me and gave me a clean start. I rented out thousands dollars worth of Music equipment last week without Mike even worrying about it when approving it for me. The first time you may have to answer questions, I mean come on are you telling me there is no one out there who tries to take advantage? After the first time, you never go a single problem again if you keep your record clean with them. Great people, Great Service, and Fun/friendly staff.
If you are reading the reviews don't just judge the people at the store through other people's eyes. Go there and and see for yourself.
This company is an institution for Toronto musicians and music lovers. As a simple music lover and pretend DJ, I was somewhat intimidated by the walls and racks of real musicians' necessary tools - guitars and other instruments, sheet music, cables and so on. The service person I dealt with was able to quickly find the XLR cables I needed and on another occasion suggest a pair of headphones that met my needs perfectly. Prices seems to be reasonable. They have a large equipment rental section that was doing brisk business. Maybe for my next party .....
I have also shopped at their huge Markham location as well as their Ajax store and was always dealt with by knowledgable staff without the condescension one often finds at audiophile stores.
Excellent customer service, especially from Rich, the manager
A music store in Scarborough. It's what you expect. .
All the instruments, gear, and knowledge I could want. Under one roof
HORRIBLE SERVICE. I come to purchase a brand new Pioneer DDJ-SX2. He tried selling me a used one saying its brand new. After he gave up, he offered me $30 off on it. I said I wanted a brand new one so he went and got another one.He asked me how I wanted to pay, I said cash. He said, "clearly you are doing something illegal if you're paying by cash".None of their customers pay in cash? Never going here again.
I love the staff here. Everyone is so friendly and offering help constantly. There is a woman I've seen that works here who just helped me buy my first guitar and was super helpful with the decision. I did my research and knew what I wanted and she helped me through it. Appreciated her!
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. I want sure about buying an expensive guitar for our son to learn and they suggested their rental service, which is not very expensive.
Visited this location multiple times, it is my first option for musical instrument and accessories (Bloor store is also awesome). A large variety of choices, helpful staff, nice and organized environment. I enjoy doing business with them.
Will usually find the most music stuff your looking for
The guy who helped me (I think his name was Michael) was super helpful. Helped me get everything I needed for my new bass. He offered me some accessories that might be useful but it never felt like he was pressuring me to buy more. Thanks for the help!
Awesome, huge selection of different instrument, for selling or renting, % recommended
Large instrument collection within reasonable prices!
They have just about anything music related
Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable
Lots of instruments, classes and rentals. Talk to the staff who are always helpful.
The staff including Sean were really cool and informative, also friendly considering other music stores can be pretentious. Highly recommended.
For instruments, service, or if you just need some info these people are great
My Les Paul special had some feet buzz, I brought brought it to Long & McQuade and it was fixed in record time. They also have a variety of instruments on sale. It's a pleasant environment and the staff was helpful when asked for assistance. I would definitely return to use their services.
Fantastic customer service! I was shopping for a stand with my dad for my new piano, bought one, returned it, got another sturdier (albeit more pricey) one.
Throughout that process I was assisted by two associates. Both of them were absolutely fantastic and it was a genuine pleasure shopping there.
You guys are killing it! Will definitely be shopping here for any music related purchases.
Thank you!
Heaven for those who love music and musical instruments. Some good deals too!
I dropped by this location to purchase a ukulele and it was fantastic!! 100% forgot the guy's name who helped me, but I had a great time making my purchase. He got me a good case for my Kala baby, tuned it and rocked out luau style behind the register. He didn't look at me sideways when I smelled the uke...bonus haha. Thanks my dude! Hope you got to eat eventually haha. Mahalo!!
Walking into one of these places is like going into a toys shop. I am like a kid who wants everything. Love spending time in the Long and mcquade.
They were laughing and making fun of 16 year old/high school applicants. Stating that they don t know anything about music/instruments and they can t be trusted while my partner and I were looking at a guitar (that was not working properly and damaged). An employee even stated that he Current has the same about knowledge about music and instruments as he did when he was 15 . Made us walk out. Not an appropriate conversation to have on the sales floor while customers, including youth are shopping.
You can rent any musical instrument with low rent! If you are doing party or program this is best place for your needs. You can buy or rent music system, speaker, microphone or anything related.
We kind, knowledgeable staff. Many location in Toronto. You can Google it make phone and ask them.
I have visited Ellesmere and Markham road branch.
Every time amazing experience.
Great store for all musical instruments. They have a variety of instrument for Beginners, intermediate & professional players. They even have rentals. Monthly payment option is also available. Staffs are really nice. If you can't find a specific brand or a specific model number, they will order it for you. I would recommend this store (Scarborough branch) for beginners and intermediate players.
Exceptional customer service, Very knowledgeable, kind and always helpful staff to select instruments.
Highly recommended store to buy musical instruments.
Very helpful staff, good guitar selection, but the real prize is their used equipment. I've found some great used pedals at marked-down prices. The staff are quite knowledgeable and patient. I've purchased three axes here, and have spent hours browsing with no pressure to buy.
I was very happy
If l have any plan to buy instruments definitely l will be there
Been here to rent and buy instruments multiple times. Staff here are great! Knowledgable, friendly and honest. Would definitely recommend this location!
As we all know that this place is super cheap to rent any musical equipment. I wont be talking about that today. But what i will talk about is the service and how quick they got me out of there.
I was in there for about 10 mins. I went in not knowing what i wanted. I told the guy what i needed for a bbq party, he came back with the speakers and wires within minutes. He also helped me put the speakers in my car. So basically what i was really impressed about was the service they provided to me. Staff is super friendly.
Good place to rent equipment for events. The staff is very friendly.
Wowed by Service by Dave (Guitar Tech), amazing prompt and generous service. been a client of Long & McQuade for long time, Highly recommend the store.
Not the largest L&Q but it's well organized with a helpful staff.
Staff is great and they provide some great insight. If there was one thing, I did feel a bit oversold on some of the equipment I rented. I relied on the expert to know more about the equipment I needed after I provide context and pictures of the venue.
Overall though, friendly staff and good service.
Very good service will attend you so fast and great instruments too.
Very friendly staff and knowledgeable. I love going to this store.
I've been a loyal customer since grade school. Trombones, guitars, harps it's all there. It's really a magic shop. But don't play stairway to heaven on the Strat or you will be asked to leave.
Great place for renting and buying musical instruments
Staff has always been helpful. Thanks Chris. Rentals are reasonably priced. Pick up and returns can be busy. Give yourself some time.
I order a equipment and did not ear from you people can someone please tell me what s going on with it
Quick service and very knowledgeable staff, they were very patient with my father-in-law's 100 questions
Second time renting. Great price. Friendly and helpful folks.
The best music store in the city! Great prices and great selection.
Above average customer service, great selection of books, sheet music, equipment, instruments and accessories. Reasonable to average prices.
Ive rented equipment here and bought equipment here. I can't talk for the prices because I have nothing to compare it too, but the staff is really friendly. 5 just for that alone.
This musicians haven is all that you will need to get your music vision in your sights..its a must see.!!!
Loved the sales guy in the amp and mics section.helped and advised me was very knowledgeable and calm. They have wide range of musical instruments .. a one stop solution for all your musical needs
Excellent service and staff. Long time loyal customer.
Staff really atencious and very helpful trying to delivery me the best deal!
Great store very knowledgeable staff great selection
These guys are good I'll recommend anybody to this so tell this location . Sales rep Ryan is good & FINANCE Mike is awesome.
The store has basic necessities for musicians. Very limited for 7-8 string guitarists, or those that own multi string basses/instruments. A lot of guitar/bass parts must be ordered in, which can take weeks. For drummers: small little drum section with a variety of cymbal selection. For guitars and bass: the selection of instruments is very mainstream, you will find your typical Fender guitars and basses, along with Gibson guitars. There is a small stock of ibanez guitars, however if you seek other brands this is not the store to go to. The recording and software department consists of cocky employees that spend more time "testing" music and playing around with lights instead of actually helping customers. Some employees lack the knowledge and attitude in serving customers, specifically in the guitar department. Guitar repairs are also over priced and not worth sending your guitar there especially if it's a floating bridge.
Knowledgeable staff, clean location and great selection of musical equipment. There's even tutoring available!
I've been a regular visitor for years and still drop in from time to time to see what's new.
Any L&M is worth a visit. This is one of their mid-size stores. Other stores may have a bigger range, but they can get most items in very quickly. L&M stores always have more used stock when you visit than is shown on their website. SO, always worth dropping in to hunt around.
We visited this place three times. For a daughter's school project to get an instrument so she can practice at home. And, found an old guitar to fix so daughter can learn how to play it. Last time was picking up the guitar. Service representatives were very friendly every time we visited and very knowledgeable. I recommend anyone to go there if interested in or thinking about getting a music instrument. You will get very good suggestions or opinions without feeling embarrassed.
Always a pleasure. Bernie in rentals was a pleasure to deal with. Never let's me down. Cudos to him.
Small, but staff is friendly and they keep enough relevant instruments in stock
Good team, always helpful, never had a bad experience
