very high quality, it is worth the trip if you can...

very high quality, it is worth the trip if you can find a slice of time when not overly crowded
This was an experience for sure. My first time tasting New York pizza and it was a moving experience..
Remember - being cash ! They don't take cards. The crust is absolute perfection - crispy and chewy with great char that has a subtle undertone. The sauce was tangy and the perfect proportion. Cheese a plenty and the pepperoni had a nice bite. I'd eat before every day if I could !
Try the clam pie, amazing. Bruchetta was to die for aswell, too, also.
Excellent pizzas and drinks. They only accept payment in cash.
Great pizza. The coal fired oven does something for the flavor that can't be described. The oven is an amazing sight as well.
Went here for my very first NY pizza and I dont think anything can beat it. Their white pizza is so delicious I would love to come back again! Great service as well.
Piazza was very good, fun crust. Very old worldly vibe.
Bruschetta unfortunately left the feeling of more to be desired was a bit bland but the pizza was fantastic and tasted fresh and delicious. Must get a large medium pie is tiny even the large was underwhelming.
Very expensive store. The worst pizza I have ever eaten, besides gabs only paper plates! Strangely, only cash is possible there..very strange, I also have a guess: o) but there is an ATM in the store. I can not recommend this restaurant. We were there in October 2018.
Very good food and peculiar atmosphere. USA's first pizzeria
Third time here; first time this trip. Love the variety in the menu. A very innovative pizza menu. A great old fashioned 'Alu Tikki' burger. Loved the 'The Hawaiian Kulta' pizza.
Not worth it. The pizza is ok. Had the pizza topped with meatball and roasted peppers and had an original margarita. The meatballs were very tasty and of good quality. And the margarita was decent, but I've had much better. With so many options in NYC, I would not go back to Lombardi's. ($5 for each high quality topping, that's a little steep)
Yes... There is a big line here... for a reason.
This is the BEST Pizza you can get in New York. No wonder is so much praised everywhere.
The best Bruschetta, the pecorino cheese.
Awesome and also the place I come back all the time while I am in NYC.
The only drawback is that they do not accept Credit Cards (but they do have an ATM Machine right inside in case you did not notice that until it comes time to pay the bill).
Worth the visit...
Wait may not be worth it. It is really good pizza.
Very good . The first in NYC. It has a crisp bottom due to the coal oven
An authentic dim sum experience. A friend of mine from China sent me here. Take the escalator to the top floor of a Chinese mall. Everything is in Chinese and so is everyone. Few people speak any English. Even then, maybe only a few words. Carts of amazing looking and smelling food pass by fast and furiously. Make sure to ask what the food is. Dumplings, soup, beef, vegetables...delicacies that only a Chinese person would know. They're all great. I give it 3/5 because it was very hard to get seated and the service can be a bit abrasive due to the language and culture barrier. However, I highly recommend this spot. The experience and food are second to none.
This historic NYC pizzeria is well-known, so it's no surprise there was a 45 minute wait to get a table inside when we arrived. It was a chilly day, but we were so looking forward to eating that we didn't mind waiting outside in the cold. When we finally got inside, our server was super friendly, and when our pizza came out, it was so tasty! Definitely worth the wait outside. The sauce was nice, the smaller pepperonis were a different change of pace from the usual pizzeria fare. The only negatives really was that there was quite a line for the restroom when I was there due to it being so crowded, and the prices were a little high, but I guess it's to be expected for a highly visiting spot for tourists. Overall it was a great experience and we'e happy to have gone!
Oldest pizzeria in the USA. Any questions?
Simply, what you crave and imagine should
be the round, red, white, and green (basil) bit of coal fired perfection with a crunch that resonates like an Italian opera on your palette.
Bravissimo Lombardi Ristorante.
Mille Grazie!
There's lots of debate over which pizza place was the first one in NYC and which has the best pizza. This place is potentially both! The pizza tastes very fresh and delicious.
Not as good as some places in Bklyn or Staten Island
The food was delicious. We had the Margarita Pizza, Meatballs and a Calzone.
Best Margarita pizza I've had thus far. Delicious sauce and crispy, chewy thin crust.
Just because it's the first doesn't mean it's the best
Nice location and good ambience. I think the place is overrated to be honest, pizza is ok but nothing spectacular. We did not order anything else but I was expecting much better from Lombardi's. Mh...
Yes, its a landmark in its own right. And the pizza is good. But the service is ok; the decor could really use some updating.
Pizza is pretty good, but this place is overpriced since their history is included in prices. If you are looking great pizza with low price, this is absolutely not the place, but if you want to say that you had been in the oldest pizzeria in the US, then go and pay for it.
Great pizza place in New York. No frills and great service. Love it!
May be the first pizza restaurant in the U.S. which is cool but waaay too expensive. Pizza was ok, not bad but not too special either. They don't have proper knifes to cut the pizza (may effect some)
But if you are a pizza fan boy, go for it
Went with a group of friends and overall the food was great! The table ordered 2 margarita pies, bread sticks and a meatball appetizer. All were great! The pizza is thin crust and the sauce is really good. This place only takes cash so heads up!
NY Pizza. Surprisingly, this place lives up to the hype. The pizza is delicious. I like the crust in particular. You pay a premium for the name, but the prices are reasonable. There tends to be a long wait though.
Price: $10-$15
Overall: A-

This is a tourist trap trading on a nice corner location and an historic reputation as one of the oldest pizza places in NY. Times have moved on, but unfortunately this restaurant has not, with the exception of their prices which are from another world! The pizza is just okay, but $25 for a small margherita with pepperoni on one half, is just ridiculous. The water is delivered luke warm in plastic water fountain cups and you get to eat from paper plates! At least the cutlery is not plastic!
This is historic place worth to be visited, the pizza was really good and service great. Be mind that they only receive cash. However, there is an ATM inside the restaurant.
Pizza is amazing here.
Claims to be the first pizzeria in America.
Pizza is overpriced for its quality.
The pizza only comes in pies, not slices.
Must pay with cash but there's an ATM inside.
The pizza at this establishment was so amazing we had a sausage and pepperoni pizza was crunchy the best part it didn't take too long to get the pizza to the people that I was with
We got their Lombardi's Special Clams and it was absolutely delicious!!!
Great drinks...great food... amazing staff... what's more to say??? You want a cozy little place to take your loved ones then come to lombardis_pizza where they treat you like family...
It is a very nice place and the staff very friendly.
They only accept cash but they have an ATM inside the restaurant. They really have 4 pizzas and if you want you add toppings that are charged separately.
You can choose two sizes, small and large. The prices are from $ 21 to $ 40 without toppings, the pizzas are made in a wood oven and the truth is that they are excellent.
I recommend it despite the price. It is also famous for being supposedly the first pizzeria in the US.
Excellent. Get a taste of old New York in this quaint lunch or dinner spot. Limited menu, great food and drinks!
Very cool place for lunch! Was my first time as well as my wife. Had an awesome pizza with a warm atmosphere as well. Bring cash only! Also got a photo OP at the kitchen's coal oven!
I've heard a lot about the famous Lombardi's and so decided to try it out with some friends because we were in the area. It's fairly large inside and you can tell the place is old. Ordered up a pie and was not overwhelmed and didn't quite live up to the hype, but i should say that it was good pizza overall. There is better pizza to be found in NYC however. The service and staff were fine and attentive so no complaints there. I probably wouldn't venture out there again but I would say give it a shot if you're in the area.
Lombardi's is one of those tourist hotspots that cannot rightly be called a trap.
Yes, it does take itself a bit too seriously as the oldest pizzeria in New York with over a century of experience and history.
Yes, it is overpriced for $20+ for a pizza with a couple of toppings and no preset discounted varieties.
Yes, despite a huge amount of dining space spread out across multiple rooms at anything resembling a mealtime the wait will be out the door (as there's very little room to hang out inside.)
Yes, it is cash only despite revenues and reputation that make refusal to accept credit absurd.
Yes, the menu is quite limited outside of pizza.
But... yes, Lombardi's has honed its pizza to an art with a coal-fired medium thickness smoky crust, excellent toppings (wild mushrooms!) and a balance that doesn't require on an overabundance of oil and grease for taste.
Is it the best pizza in the Tri-State Area? ... Maybe. It would be mistake not to visit at least once to draw one's own conclusion.
The best pizza in New York City for me. It s was really great to be there and the cesear salade is very good, too.
Very good pizza, delicious Italian cream sodas, great atmosphere, very expensive.
Second visit to Lombardi's over the past 10 years. We raved about this restaurant and highly recommended it to our friends. It was good but cannot rate it as our best pizza anymore. We had the sausage, pepper and onion (way too much sauage) & the size of the pizza has shrunk considerably. The prices were outrageous for the size of the pizza. Probably will try another venue next visit.
We had a very bad experience as pazza was tasteless
Amazing pizza! Simply AMAZING. THE BEST pizza I've ever tasted in my life! No wait time, good customer service.
Disappointed... Crowded and loud, very expensive pizza dinner.
Not bad-not as powerful as bloggers say, but it's also quite delicious
A little expensive
But the small pizza should be enough for two people!
Too expensive, cheese pie is a margarita by standard. Let customers know what you're serving at your restaurant, like its common sense.
The first pizza shop in the US A small and picturesque place, serving only pizza and various salads, no coffee and no desserts, delicious pizzas as I have never tasted in my life, a bit expensive for my taste but worth a piece of history.
Best pizza I've ever had. Get the white pizza with tomato slices!
Top ingredients. But wasn't too happy with the water or the cheap paper plates and things. Wanted to try the soda but way too expensive. Overall the food was AMAZING! we got the classic white pizza and a pepperoni calzone.
Loved Lombardi's in the past but recent pizza was dry and lukewarm.
Service was ok, food was AWESOME! Come and get the Famous Clam Pie! Worth the time, and expense!
When someone says New York City Pizza, you think Lombardis! The best pizza in the city, heck, the world! Then you go, wait for an hour and make sure you have cash, get seated and order. And after allllll the hype? A tasteless, boring pie. Dough? Meh. Sauce? Not impressive. Cheese? Literally wet rags with no flavor. Toppings? Sparse and underwhelming. Oh and extremely expensive. There were 3 basil leaves on the pizza. 3. BUT the alcohol was ON POINT. Best Amaretto Sour I've had in NYC in months.
Very good pizza, thin dough !!! The service exceeeeeelente, there is not much variety to choose from but the options that have excellent !!!
I loved! Good quality price, very close treatment. The best pizza !!!
TOURIST TRAP! The pizzas were actually very good but we were taken in an awful backroom for tourists and had paper plates and plastic glasses... our pizza experience in Chelsea market was way better.
Personally, I found the pizza to be not bad and tasted similar to other pizza joints in NY. Tables are small. Pizza was served with paper plates and drinks in basic plastic cups. Pretty pathetic for an establishment that s been around this long. Go here if you want to have the bragging rights that you have been there otherwise overrated in my opinion. US $90 for one small and one large pizza including 3 soft drinks + 18% tip
This establishment has the best pizza that I've had in the city so far. The restaurant gets busy at night so be prepared to wait for 30+ minutes for a table. We felt that the wait was worth it, as we very much enjoyed the pizzas and the Caesars salad that we had.
Went to Lombardi's on a vacation with my girlfriend and had an amazing pizza experience. The only reason this place gets 4 stars instead of 5 for me is the service. Now, I know what you're thinking.."This is NYC and your at a tourist spot, what do you expect?!" and that's fair..but we we're getting shoved out the door and there were plenty of tables all around us. It definitely was worth the walk down to Little Italy for a slice though.
A great place for a Neapolitan pie. Don't expect the pizza to resemble what you order at places like Pizza Hut or Domino's - this is the real deal!
Everything is very expensive, but being in New York for the first time, we HAD to try it!! It really was the best pizza I've ever had. Money was worth it!! I'll deffinately try it again, if I end up in New York!!
Best PIZZA in my life. !!!!
Just go there !!!
Assuming that I'm not an Italian bacchettone, and I write the review in Italian because it seems correct to do so: I perfect Spain and the ah but I reckon it better Input this star. A star because the pizza is absolutely unacceptable. In 2018 it is shameful to eat such a pizza and spend almost $ 90 for a "big" pizza, a regular one, a tea and a glass of wine. Pizza eatable just because you're hungry. In England you eat top-quality Italian cuisine and piazza, while in America there is still a long way to go. The only thing that is saved is the service: polite and kind. But the clientele goes to a restaurant to eat well first of all, the judgment on the service is after the good dinner. That said, I recommend a nice accelerated course of how to make pizza and I hope you take note of this review for the future.
Everytime I've gone to NYC, Lombardis was a must, and I would recommend it to everyone, but this last time I went the pizza wasn't as delicious as it always is... It tasted like many other Italian restaurant pizzas I've had... not sure if they've changed ingredients or recipe but it definitely is not the same... trying to contact them is a mission, and in Google the information isn't up to date...
It's simple and to the point. It's pizza. Crispy, chew crust with a hint of salt San Marzano sauce, mozzarella and fresh basil.
Love the food here! I come here for lunch a few times a week and they never disappoint. The people here are awesome!
honestly has to be a tourist go to, the food was okay. Their specialty wine was good. & there pizza was good. Ive had better in LA though. Pretty excited but excitement died when trying the food
Without a doubt, the richest pizza I've had in a long time, exquisite taste, bread, its smell is the most delicious, if you go to NY you definitely have to try the pizza at the first pizzeria in America, it's going to Enchant, I highly recommend that of pesto,
Excellent pizza in a nice setting. We recommend 100%. By the way, the rating is a bit high for a lunch.
This pizza is the very good. It is traditional nyc pizza for sure. I recommend ordering on busy days however. I have noticed on slow nights, like a monday or tuesday; the pizza is not as good.
I d give the pizza 3 stars and the history 5 stars. Had better in New York the day before. Nothing about it wowed me except the fact this was the first pizza place makes it special. The pizza is a bit overpriced for the taste but worth stopping by once.
They say that it is the oldest pizzeria in New York, what it should have is very famous since there were enough people waiting to eat, although then it does not take long to locate you. As for the food we tasted a pizza and the truth is that it was great, we ordered the large one and for two left over and you get it for about $ 33 without drink. The site, especially the top floor, is very charming.
Classic, there's better pizza around, but Lombardi's is a Nolita staple.
