The pizza was very good. We had the margherita pizza. The sauce had a nice San Marzano tomato flavor. The crust was perfectly cooked, had great flavor and a nice chew to it. It wasn't the best pizza I've had but it was a very good, solid pizza. I spent 10 days in Italy last year and I'd say it was as good as if not better than any pizza I had there.

The pizza is good, they have a style very similar to the pizza of the city of Naples, but there are better options in NYC. More than anything I went because it was one of the oldest pizzerias in the United States and I did not love it.

In the spirit of honesty, I can say we didn't actually eat here. We looked at the prices on the menu and went to another local place. We weren't about to pay $25 for a pizza with one topping. Save your money take a picture.

First, know it's cash only (it's posted clearly on the outside, which definitely helps). Me and my fiancee walk in and it's pretty crowded. We're given a buzzer and told it'll be 15-20 minutes. We sit down by the bar on a little bench, no problem. We wait about 3 minutes and our buzzer goes off. Strange but pleasant surprise! So we're led to the back area that's a pretty small "hallway" and take our seats. Above us was an autograph from Jack Nicholson which was pretty awesome. Also, know their pizzas are margherita style - a more traditional pizza with small circular cuts of mozzarella cheese placed around the pizza, leaving quite a few bites with only sauce. I highly recommend this type of pizza to many people who haven't tried it!

So we wait a handful of minutes before we can place our order - and yes, it was a noticeably long wait for our waiter to show up. We get two drinks ($3 each, NO REFILLS) and a small plain 6-slice pizza ($22, a large was $25). Alcoholic beverages were mostly $9, some beers were $6 if I recall correctly. Drinks took awhile to arrive and the pizza might've been another 15-20 minutes. About standard for a busy restaurant.

The soda was a good (some places get the syrup messed up, so figured I'd mention it). The pizza was good. It had a strong basil smell from the small seasoning/garnish leaves (which I loved). The sauce was good and the amount of cheese on the pizza was perfect for a margherita pizza. The pizza was quite thin, the crust was very crispy, and the actual slice was slightly flimsy (to give you an idea of how they'll probably come). While the pizza was pretty good, I do have to admit I still prefer the margherita pizza at my local mall pizzeria. It was slightly disappointing to not have this blow out the very short list of margherita pizzas I've had. Anyways, we finished it quickly and cleared off the pizza holder. It was immediately picked up by a friendly staff member.

This, however, leads into the most frustrating part of the experience, after the meal was finished. Despite immediately seeing the empty tray/holder and taking it, we waited for easily 15+ minutes to get the check. While we waited, another customer walked up to a staff member and had to ask for her check (I could hear a slight frustration in her voice). I'm not kidding, about 10 minutes goes by and she walks back up and had to hand the money/check to them because they still weren't coming to her table. He asked her if she needed change and she said "No." As she turned around and passed our table, she let out a slightly exaggerated annoyed sigh. I don't blame her. Eventually we got the check and paid. For us two, with two drinks and a small pizza, it came to $36 total ($30 + $6 tip).

3/5 for me. Pizza was good but didn't blow me away. Stunning that they were so slow to clear tables when it was obviously busy. If you want a cool experience in the city eating at a historic location (said to be the first pizzeria in America I believe), it's worth a shot. If you're in the city and want to grab a quick slice, you'll probably be able to find some slices that give this pizza a run for the money for cheaper - and you'll probably be more full too. Cash only wasn't a problem for us but could be for others. Overall a decent experience. But waiting for staff to notice you after you're done eating is quite annoying to me. Especially after being fairly spoiled by Ziosks where you can swipe your card and leave immediately after your last bite if you want.

I'm always sceptical of places like this. Can it live up to its reputation? Well it was great. I left very pleased. Only problem was we got sat under the vent and it got pretty cold. On the way out we bumped into James Franco which was neat.

The worst pizza and waiter ever. Half hour wait, taken to the back area past the kitchen, dull and boring, breadsticks were nasty, no flavor, no butter or garlic, served with pizza sauce. Pizza was overdone and expensive as ever-$60 for a large pizza with pepperoni and onion, breadsticks and 2 ice teas. Biggest rip off ever. Waiter was rude, very rude.

Giving this place two stars because the service was really good. But if you want quality pizza don't go to this place. A small pizza which is only 6 slices was over $20 and it looked and tasted like a pizza you get as an appetizer at a dive bar. Then when you bite into it, its like biting into saw dust with cheese on it.They don't even give you free unlimited refills on soda! They should be paying its customers to eat there.

We went on the recommendation of the tour guide. Promoted as the best and oldest pizza in New York. But I was not surprised by his pizza. The place is relatively picturesque but nothing to surprise.

The first pizza place in america. Coal oven which, means steam engine hot so the pizza comes out fast, slighly charred on the tips of the dough bubbles which means crunchy and tasty thin crust. The cheese is not the star but a balance of the dough, sauce and chunks of cheese that dont cover the entire pie (look at the pictures). A must for tourists.

Lombardi's is one of the most places that you need to go, visit and experience at least once. Please note that there is usually a wait especially during lunch and dinner hours. Pizza was great, but the service was just OK. Please note that they only accept cash.

It pretty good not great but pretty good. One thing I absolutely cannot stand is that they are cash only. Whether it s for tax evasion or they are just plain lazy I hate this. As usual I spend less money when such a restriction is placed. We came late in the day therefore there was no wait. I m glad I tried it but like much of New York s food it s quite overrated.

Great pizza but service was poor. Waitress never once checked on us and we waited over 30 mins just to receive our bill, and we had to be somewhere afterwards. Still 4 star because I understand that service depends on a lot of different scenarios.

Lombardi's is a popular nice pizzeria in the NYC East village. This place is claimed and famously known to be the first pizzeria in America and has often been featured to be the among the best pizzerias in NYC. They serve good pizzas of 3-4 basic types with a huge array of toppings choice. The place is vegetarian friendly too. It has good ambience and good rustic old school Italian sit down dine-in restaurant charm. Best time to visit the place is late afternoon to skip the long waits and the place is cash only.

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! After a long day of walking around, I decided I wanted "NYC's #1 pizza" as we had previously heard. We were a few blocks away so decided to order a pizza to go so we could go back and watch our team's opening football night game. The online order said roughly 15 minutes. We walked as fast as we could and got there right on time, waited for the host and told him we were there to pick up a to go order. He never acknowledged us, whispered into his ear piece and completely dismissed us. After waiting 10 more minutes, I asked the host if we were in the correct place to pick up an online order, assuming that maybe he misunderstood us or there was some confusion. It had been 25 minutes since we ordered. He looked utterly annoyed by me and said yes, then whispered into his ear piece again and turned his back towards us. We waited yet another 15 minutes....this time I asked how much longer our online order would be, that it said 15 minutes online and it had now been close to 40 minutes. We were given another rude look and told probably about another 5 minutes and again, turned his back towards us. Never once did he even ask our name for the online order. At this point, I was about to ask for a manager, but a kind member of the waitstaff approached me and asked me why I wasn't watching the game (as I had on a shirt for our home team). I informed him that we ordered online 40 minutes ago and were still waiting. He immediately asked my name and went into the back. Just a couple moment later, he had our order (which was only a small pizza). Yes, after 40+ minutes, we finally got a lukewarm pizza that clearly had been sitting in the back for a while. I've never been treated with such disregard. I was completely offended. I can only assume this was because we were clearly tourists, but in no way deserved the sheet disrespect we were given by the host. I cannot even recommend or suggest that this place! This was definitely the low part of our trip. Feeling sad and rejected, I decided to just take the pizza and leave because no good would come from talking to anyone at that moment given my level of angry and hunger.

They are able to prepare the very best of an original Italian pizza. The pick up service could work better. I was a bit lost trying to find a spot to wait for my pizza. But definitely I want to come back.
