I had the dressed crab with chips and it was OK, and my partner had the poached smoked haddock and he didn't find it exhilarating. Tarte tatin was poor as it was missing its caramel glaze. Overall an average chain restaurant with an average quality of food.

Disappointing from the start but improved as time went on. Upon arrival I signed in with the NHS COVID app. The lady at the door then insisted my wife do the same, she didn't have the app installed. I said it was not a requirement for both of us to sign in. She said the law was changed 3 weeks ago and now it is required. Begrudgingly we continued, I was ready to walk out for the first 10-15 minutes.

The law has not changed and tier 2 or high alert does not mandate each person in the group sign in, it only insists each person from the party must share the same household. A prerequisite to eat out. Excerpt taken from government website last updated 12 October for tier 2 or high alert areas.

This includes in:

pubs and restaurants

leisure and entertainment venues

places of worship

Clearly states at least one person doesn't saying anything about each person as I was fictitiously told.

As someone who was shielding I'm very conscious of the rules and continuously monitor them.

Once I'd cooled off the food was pretty good, my wife found a bone in her fishcakes unfortunately. But all the rest of the food was of good quality, our waitress was attentive and helpful.

I suggest you review your check in policy so it fits in with what is mandated, it's already a barrier to entry and puts some customers off and insisting every visitor do it is only going to make people less likely to come.

Thanks for responding the policy on Loch Fyne website says; So I would suggest the wording is tidied up to state every guest in the party.

Disappointed as service previously excellent and why I came back. But short staffed and erratic service now. Food good and good value offer but not as expected. Was served fish without a fish knife even though some wall displays showed some nice examples. Thought they were fish experts !

A star for service and a star for surroundings. I had the fish soup and the seafood platter. The soup was devoid of any fish and whilst palatable was bland and was very disappointed given this us a restaurant specialising in seafood. The More

Very nice food, scollops, prawns, linguine, cod, mushy peas, chips (not "twice cooked" fresh potatoes as expected, but cooked from frozen chips, disappointing).
Otherwise a good experience, covid safe guidelines in place.

Very Disappointing Lost - Loyal Customer Lost

Very Disappointing Lost - Loyal Customer Lost
We ve been going to this restaurant for a few years now and whenever we are in York it s always our first choice. So we booked a table for sat night, and made it early 6.00pm to insure we had good seats, beat the rush and enjoy a nice seafood meal.
Well this is what happened: We arrived at 6pm and there were probably 5/6 tables with people on them. We said we had a reservation and were taken through the restaurant past the kitchen down two flights of stairs past the toilets to a room in the basement with no windows, staff or anyone in there. I looked at the waitress and said I don t think so what on earth is this.
We went back to the reception and they decided to walk us through the restaurant, up some stairs to a separate part of the restaurant were there was a 40th birthday party, we had a table in the corner at the end of the birthday table. What could we do it was raining hard outside and all the best restaurants were fully booked.

The mussels I had, most off them were closed and the others were tiny and runny, no garnish no wedge of lemon, wife s calamari was soggy.
Main course, I had a bland seafood stew, and the Seaford did not taste fresh, and the garlic bread was soggy, once again no seasoning, garnish or lemon wedge. (I have never been to a Seaford restaurant with no Lemon or garnish) My wife had sea food pasta, bland, bland no lemon or seasoning.
By now we had just had enough and wanted to get out. O and by the way the restaurant was still half empty when we left so why they couldn t of gave us a table in the main restaurant I don t know. What a shame we loved this restaurant and always recommend it. To conclude it s over priced very poor sea ford, and a restaurant that s lost its mojo and probably a lot of customers too, it was like the chef had gone sick and the dishwashers were taking service. The restaurant has my phone number from the reservation if they wish to contact me.
The only reason it gets 1 Star is for the waitress, i felt sorry for her

We returned to this restaurant after a year to see if it could redeem itself on Sunday 26th November 2017. The answer was NO, service had got worse and the food was a very moderate average. When our main coarse came out was wrong so we sent it back, 5 minutes later, wrong again so the waitress checked our order and we were right it was still wrong, third time hooray it was right, terrible service there was only 5 covers and all of them were complaining, so we paid the bill and left and had desert somewhere else.

Shame that s the last time we will go back and it used to be our favourite restaurant in York

We dined here and both had the seafood mixed grill. This was an excellent plate of food. We both really enjoyed it. We were here on a Monday night using the buy one main get one free & at that price we felt it was excellent value. But if we had paid full price we would of felt it was poor value for money. If you have offers or discounts we really recommend loch fyne but not at standard menu prices. Service was excellent. We could not fault the staff in anyway.

Delicious starters with calamari and prawns. The dover sole was nice and the butternut squash was really good. I added King prawns and half lobster. My lobster was overcooked. All else was quite good. Dessert I choose ice cream. The scoops were really small. Nice location and good service. I have been here before and would suggest it for a good meal.

It's a chain, but it's a good one. We're very glad it's open again at last after it was hit by the floods. Food is good, and very reasonably priced, and service whenever we've been there is very good. Only minor gripe is the piped music, but it's not too loud and no doubt some people like it. I'd recommend it.

I don't like fish and expected to hate the experience of being in this restaurant, however there was no constant fishy smell as I expected, the drinks were reasonable, non fish and fish meals were good and I wasn't shocked when paying the bill. Despite not eating fish, I'd definitely visit again.

OK food, good staff though. Poached haddock was plentiful but not entirely edible. Wilted spinach was unwilted, mash had a crust, sauce was good, fish would have been better served without skin as this wasn't edible.

Had a fantastic time here, the staff were very helpful and pleasant. Atmosphere was great, ordered the lobster trying to be posh then panicked when they brought weird utensils out an started to Google how to eat lobster but the service was that quick I only had time to learn how to eat the claws. Fortunately the lobster came cut in half which was amazing and my new found half knowledge on how to dismember lobster claws will have to be used another day.
