Loch Fyne Restaurants Review

Quiet late lunch, food good, wine huge selection and staff helpful and friendly even let me borrow his umbrella for which I was so grateful for the rest of the day. Duly returned with thanks

I am sick to death of owners replying to comments by trying to defend their Chefs serving poor food when they weren't even present to witness it! Serving a pot of mussels in some sort of insipid liquid, half of which were not even open, is not acceptable and I repeat, I shall not be returning to this establishment. Amen.

Lovely building and the manager was an amazing friendly gentleman. The server was also amazing couldn't of asked for a better lunch.

Absolutely lovely food and staff. One of the top places to eat in York. Great bloody Mary's. Will be back soon. Thanks for a great night.

Fantastic!! Top quality food at a reasonable price, very clean and staff were friendly and professional. When in York again, I will certainly make a point on returning, If only for the creme brulee!! Sorry again that my friend left some of hers!!

Lovely old building; used to be a family hardware store and some of the fittings are still there. Broad menu including none fishy options so good for a group even if someone isn't a fish eater. Good service and definitely not too cramped. Food was delicious

Great food, Great staff nothing was 2 much trouble, We all had the "Mussel Madness" I managed to try and finish all the 8 dishes but my mum and brother did not. But just to be clear they was not sick of eating mussels they was just full coz they eat the bread and fries ;)

A great thank you to Manager Ryan and his great team, from Anna who gave us a very warm welcomed to Adam who was our server who went above and beyond to look after our every need sometimes with we didn't even need to ask and it was done (now that's good!!). Also Owen who looked very smart in his kitchen uniform (pictured)

We will definitely be back again and again this was our second visit and I highly recommended it.

Speaking on behalf of the food, it's delicious! But what really elevated my experience at loch fyne York, was the customer service, which is undoubtly some of the best! My visit was brief, I was taking my food out for the train journey back to London. The guys at loch fyne, to name names, Dominic amongst others, were just so accommodating and friendly, I walked out thinking, the world is alright.

I had food at loch dyne restaurant - York center - today with my friend and it was really great food and experience. We been served by Ellen who makes our experience much better.

Loved the unlimited mussels. The platters were very dissapointing and thus very over priced.

Brilliant food atmosphere and wine! What more could you ask for?! The staff were really friendly and welcoming, special mention to Ben, our waiter, great guy and perfect level of interaction with customers!

Excellent range of food, great quality and variety. Set in a lovely building by the river Foss just on the edge of the heart of the city.

Had a lovely meal here and the 50% January 'sale' on mains made it especially nice. Very good service too!

Service was faultless but the food was underwhelming to say the least. Disappointed.

Food was excellent. Staff were really nice and attentive without being invasive. Great partitioning of tables but and this is a personal but. I did not feel safe. I personally don't think that waiting staff should be wearing visors. They are standing at least two feet above customers and again I personally feel that visors are too open at the bottom. Please wear masks when attending tables.

Love this place! Quite pricey but it is worth to pay. Food was great, service was good.

It's hard to find a restaurant in York that isn't touristy, so we searched a bit outside the gates of the Old part of York and found Loch Fyne. The building, atmosphere, and view of the river seemed to make Loch Fyne an excellent choice. However, the food and service were both suffering. I ordered cod and vegetables without butter, and both were just swimming in butter. For the price of food at this establishment, one would expect the quality of food and service to match, but this was not the case. I would seek out other restaurants in York, avoid Loch Fyne.

Willing staff but unfortunately they were let down by their chef's that didn't understand that when you cook lobster that it has hot and not ice cold from the chiller,

If you like to eat fish, this place serves more than the usual restaurant.

A place that does seafood well! Have the sharing seafood platter with lobster, a bottle of champagne and you have an epic date night!

Beautiful food in a lovely setting served by happy helpful staff. A few of us dined here and everyone said how fantastic it was.. hoping to get booked in for Christmas

First time at this chain of restaurants. We arrived mid afternoon on a Saturday without a booking. Fantastic service from all staff, we all enjoyed the food & found the setting clean & nicely decorated.

Had a lovely meal here when we visited York. The food was amazing, the lobster was so fresh, dessert was good too! Staff were friendly and service was also very good. They also do a set dinner menu that is very good value too. Would come again if we are next in York!

The staff were friendly and helpful. We had oysters, calamari and the sole. The sole was beautiful and very much worth getting. The oysters were a tad expensive, but where aren't they, and they had been prepared very well.

Had smoked haddock. Cooked to perfection with delicious mustard mash and a poached egg in an amazing creamy sauce. Beautifully presented. Service and speed were excellent even while very busy. Highly recommended if you're a seafood lover.

We always eat here when in York. Friendly staff, good food and reasonable prices.

Came today with my boyfriend for a late lunch to celebrate our anniversary. The staff couldn't have been lovelier! The GM, Darren, congratulated us and even treated us to prosecco and oysters on the house. We were blown away! The food was delicious, highly recommend the seabass with the new potatoes and sun-dried tomato butter - amazing! Thanks so much to everyone working today, our meal/experience at Loch Fyne was the cherry on top of a fabulous day!

High quality food with great service and atmosphere. You can expect the bill to reflect that though.

Very nice restaurant, selling seafood, not only fish and chips. Good menu, special lunch deal and good selection of drinks.

Went for dinner with a voucher I had been given as a Christmas present. It was a three course evening meal including a very generous glass if wine.
Tucked away on a side street away from the crowds of York but easy accessible from city centre.
The food and service were both excellent.
Liked the ambience and choice of menu.
Would visit again next time we are in York.

Fast service, 50% of mains January 2020. Amazing food nice and quick! Lovely drinks menu. Would definitely recommend! I went for the lobster and my boyfriend went for the steak.

It is closed but nothing on the website tells you this I went there especially!!

You can enjoy fresh seafood reasonably. I asked about my meal with my family, but I enjoyed it with the polite response of the shop. I think that reservation is necessary.

Fantastic meal with my girlfriend for our 4 year anniversary. The food was fantastic, the service excellent and they look after is very well. Well done! And thanks to Darren for the bottle of prosecco and muscles!

Lunchtime special menu is great value for money, had grilled sardines to start then king prawn spaghetti in garlic and chilli it was beaut, very friendly staff and great atmosphere.

Food was of consistently good standard. If you're on a budget there is food to meet that budget, and although you sacrifice choice you don't miss out on quality. They appeared to have listened to customer comments and had fresh bread available on demand. Music in the background was irritating: of the cheeky cheery pop variety at a volume which made conversation a little uncomfortable. Will go again though. Friendly casual service.

Twice we've eaten here and twice we've been blown away by the great service, the lovely staff and the incredible food.

Well worth a try

One of York's top restaurants with an excellent fish centric menu of high quality dishes. Booked a couple of days before and were still able to get a table at eight on Saturday night. Arrived about 20 minutes to eight and had a drink at the bar, the place was full so the booking had been a must. A warm welcome from the manager (I think) and we were shown to our table. We both went for the Scottish king scallops to start followed by one seafood grill and one king prawn Malabar curry, with a chrisp Chablis. All were delicious and delivered to the table without delay. An excellent evening out, highly recommended.

Great choice of seafood including shellfish. Plenty of other options for those who don't like fish. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

I have a special place in my heart for this place. Don't know why. Its just different from the norm restaurants.
