Lots of sushi! But no trees so am I little confused. Brought my new camera in to take some photos of the sushi trees but wasn't able to find any. Unfortunate. Did enjoy a good sush tho.

Once you get past the rude hostess the experience is great. The group I was with almost walked out before the waitress got to our drink orders. The hostess asked us the party number, we replied and she looked at the one person who didn't. We all stood looking back at her and repeated the number. She then took us over to a preset table and removed 2 settings. There were wet spots left on the table so we asked for a napkin to clean them, she said that is from the plates I removed. I guess she assumed her words would turn into Dobby off Harry Potter and the water would magically disappear. I look from her to the spots and said thank you for the information can you please get a napkin so we can clean them. She stomped off, returned with napkins and proceeded to wipe the table. We stopped her, said we don't have a problem cleaning off the table and she had done enough, her vibe was killing ours. We were skeptical of staying because we saw her talking to a waitress and pointing in our direction. Luckily we got someone who was awesome and did a good job. The sushi is always tasty, seaweed salad is really good, Thai fried rice is a winner and they have an actual phone in the back hallway for vintage photos. Maybe the hostess was having an off day or she hates her job
The waitress was phenomenal. She was extremely attentive to my gluten intolerance and even went so far as to ask the chefs to change their gloves before they made my sushi. Great attitude and great service.
The sushi however was subpar at best. Small portions and fairly expensive for the quality. I ordered 4 rolls. Two were salmon, one was yellowtail, and one was mackerel. Served warm for some reason which was a little concerning given the fact that it was raw fish. Salmon tasted reasonably fresh though a little bland. Had a bit of an odd oily taste to it. The yellowtail and the mackerel however were downright inedible. Low quality fish that was clearly on the verge of spoiling. I ate two pieces of salmon and one each of the yellowtail and the mackerel rolls before I decided I couldn't finish. It was truly awful.
I asked the waitress to remove 3 out of 4 rolls from my bill and I'd pay for the the roll I'd eaten. That's fair right? Well a manager comes out and while initially polite but curt, he states he can't remove the food from the bill. "I've served this to over 50 customers today and haven't had a complaint". I told him politely but firmly that I had no problem paying for what I had eaten, but I wouldn't be paying for all of it. He threatened to call the police on me, which I invited him to do. He eventually relented and said "I'll take the uneaten food off your bill, but only if you never come back".
I've honestly never encountered such unprofessional behavior from a manager at a restaurant. I will never return to this place again solely because of that manager.
If you're looking for good sushi look to Noble Fish in Troy, Blufin in Grosse Pointe, or Mango's in Dearborn. Much better sushi, much better pricing, and great friendly staff.
It s ok. Their sushi is good. The other menu items are not even close to traditional and so their taste is weird.
The sushi is really fresh here. The fresco roll is awesome.
The drinks are great and the sushi was average but the prices were definitely higher than a lot of places around the area.
Came in a little late, around 11pm..30 minutes until closing time. Food was fast and good as usual. HOWEVER, after entering the dining room with my wife, sister and disabled son, you can hear the cooks remarks something to the effect of "are you seriously bringing a kid in here??" We didn't see a problem with him being here. Couldn't find a babysitter. Anyway, Food was great. The staff however are very rude and doesn't really treat a customer with respect.
If you re ever in this place try their Two Flavor, Lava rolls. Very tasty
Worst sushi I've ever had. The eel and avacado had bones all through it... Unedible. The quality of fish was very poor and showed in the flavor. I had a Togo order or else I would have sent everything back. Just....wow
The food was really good, and amazing! Service was also very good.
One of our go to restaurants in Royal oak. Plenty of variety and everything tastes amazing. I love the yaki udon.
It was awesome, it is way better than wuri sushi or some other place. Make sure you come here ASAP! And Kyle was our waiter, and he was so nice and awesome! HURRY UP HERE BEFORE YOUR OUT OF LUCK!!
Good/friendly/courteous/respectful service but ... inauthentic Filipino dishes. Lumpia and Chicken/Pork Adobe worst in Michigan. Nu-Way Fried Banana desert is like a nightmare Disney theme-park creation. If you really like Filipino food, don't go near this place.
OMG!!! Best sushi I have had in a long time! Yall are great.
Good food. Nice atmosphere. I love the sushi there. Also nice mix of other food.
Very convenient location, the sushi is really tasty and fresh, the service is past and the portions are large.
Great meal, love their sushi!!! Our waiter was attentive and such. Going there at a busy time, the hostesses seemed frazzled and without much direction.
the last review was pretty accurate with the fish tasting funny and the sushi was over priced. this was my first and last time going there.
Yummmmmy spot. Great portion sizes. Edamame was also yum! I had 1 specialty roll and was full.
I have no reservations about recommending Little Tree. Also, they don't take reservations. But their sushi is some of the best in the area and they have a variety of dishes from Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines, so there are many great options to try.
Sushi wasn't good. Rolls were too big, didn't taste very fresh.
It all had a really weird taste to it, like corner store counter sushi.
The second star is only because the people were very nice and attentive.
Total Asian menu.. from Thai to Japanese sushi.. even some Philipino..
Excellent asparagus sushi. Great teriyaki. Been going here for years
Every year we get one of the huge sushi trays for New Year's eve and every year it's great! This year we opted to try a dish from their Thai menu and it too was pretty good. So good in fact that yesterday we decided to go there and pick up the exact same dish made with eggplant. I was so disappointed! What in the world happened? The first time, the take out was packaged in plastics containers and there was a savory sauce of deliciousness throughout the dish. Yesterday however, it was given to us in Styrofoam containers, it was dry with no sauce and there was CONSIDERABLY less in the container. I felt robbed. My husband said it tasted vastly different and also complained about the amout we received or should I say didn't receive. He also commented that the styro foam containers weren't what you you would expect from this particular establishment. As a matter of fact, we received a container for rice and a separate container for the entree itself on New Year's eve. This time it was just put into one styro foam container with about half of the amount we received the last time, but still for the same amount of money. While I won't go as far as to say we won't go back, the next time we want Thai food we probably won't go there.
I would normally give this place a four or four and a half but the fish didn't taste as fresh as it usually does. My guests had the pad thai and loved it!
I have been going here for well over a decade. It is a wonderful place to go eat. Stop by sometime.
Clean, and Lovely Atmosphere! Great Fresh sushi! Also very Pad Thai Rice! Service was Great!
Food was bland and overpriced, avoid. I truly do not understand how this restaurant can remain open when everything that they serve is practically tasteless. Their location is great and their service was fine but despite this the food was awful. This was my second chance I don't believe there will be a third
We sat for almost 20 minutes and and no one even came to take our drink order let alone our meal order. We walked up to the front and told the two hostesses and they just stared straight ahead with no response. I said thanks for caring....hello??? Nope, just stared straight ahead. My wife and I were giving this place a second chance, and no they weren't that busy.
Amazing tofu best tofu around Detroit area go to place for me now
This restaurant is my favorite... I ve been going there for about 3 years now and nothing like their Thai fried rice ...
Shep, the owner, is an insensitive and racist douche!! Decor looks like he copied McDonalds lol. His next door business keeps failing, clear sign he doesn't have a clue about what he's doing...just a matter of time before this place bites the dust too. Probably karma catching up to ya
The absolute worst food I've ever had in my life. My boyfriend called it "I try food" instead of Thai. They should be shut down immediately and the gay guy at the bar is a complete idiot. I ordered shrimp fried rice and they gave me a bed of white rice, some old shrimps and a huge fried egg on top of it. The food was disgusting and we'll never, ever come here again.
The sushi tasted old I ate one piece and passed. The avocado is brown. Some of the yellowtail looks dark it's very fishy smelling which of course it's sushi but this doesn't smell fresh. The sinigang is so off it was tofu and broth with onions. The noodles were just slop and mush my husband had to put them back in the wok to try to save them. This is sad food, whoever is cooking lost their love for it a long time ago. Two stars because the fried rice was ok.
Fantastic sushi. Excellent drink options. Love sitting at the sushi bar the sushi chefs are very friendly and overall great experience.
Always fresh, always great service, this has been one of our favorite sushi places in the Detroit area for the last 8 years. Always a pleasure to spend time there.
Used to be my all time favorite sushi place but many others have now either surpassed them or they've slacked off. At this point the place needs a refreshing and a revised menu.
Service was a bit slow, and menu wasn't very impressive. Sushi rolls were good though not amazing. The prices are fair..some of the rolls can get pretty pricy.
Best Japanese/Thai/sushi restaurant around love this place and all the cool dishes they make plus all the cool people that work here. Little tree is on the top of my list for sure !
The manager at this establishment is rude and unprofessional! There was a misunderstanding with my order, I called to resolve my issue, the manager was rude and had no intentions in resolving the matter. So I returned to the restaurant and requested a refund because my order was completely wrong. I never raised my voice, or used any profanity, I simply wanted my money back. The manager told me if I didn t leave, he was going to call the police and have them through me out. Wow!
The police arrived, mediated the situation. Needless to say the police did not through me out, because I was not in this establishment acting like an ignorant person, so in the end the manager told one of the officers, I was not allowed back into the restaurant.
The sushi is good value, especially in a city like Royal Oak. Tasty and varied drink options as well. Tables are spaced nicely so you feel like you have a lot of privacy as well.
I am unsure about most of the reviews on here, they are very mixed. I moved from Florida where sushi is plentiful and everyone claims to have the freshest. But this is a little hidden place where you can have an amazing meal with simple delicious cocktails. No frills which I appreciate cause they don't use gaudy boats or martini glasses that are hard to eat out of. We want plates. I have never had a rubbery piece of octopus or fishy tasting piece of fish here even after 6 months of discovering this place. And if you think sushi shouldn't taste AT ALL like fish, don't ruin it for everyone else. I love the relaxing atmosphere and the servers are great. Poor servers shouldn't put a damper the complete reputation of a restaurant, let alone this little place. Their gyoza appetizer is delicious! And so is the eggplant curry on their phillipino menu side, so sushi isn't all there is! Give it a try, don't let Karen's and Kyle's ruin this great spot for a good dinner that is quick and tasty.
The customer service is always prompt, great vibes, helpful employees. Will visit again when I am here.
This place is absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is great, and there's almost always a full crowd of people here. My favorite dish is the Nabeyaki Udon, I would highly recommend it.
The food was descent, however customer service is very poor. I asked for another portion of ahi tuna on my ahi tuna salad and it turned into a huge issue. I would think as a sushi place, their would be a system in place for charging additional protein portions, but that wasn t the case.
Initially, I was incorrectly advised that I would have to order indicidual pieces of ahi tuna (off the sushi menu (that came with aeoli and capers - not what is on the salad) that were almost $4 a piece to add to my $15 salad. I said said that doesn t make sense, I would be charged $16 dollars for 4 piesces of fish, I should just order another salad since it comes with 4 pieces of tuna plus salad for $15!
Then the waitress agreed and decided to talk to the sushi chefs and her manager? I hear the whole conversation as I was sitting right in front of the sushi bar. I was being made fun of for wanting more tuna and not wanting to pay, which was not the case, I just wanted to be reasonably charged in way it made sense. Even after the ordeal was done, they were still talking about it which is completely unprofessional! Mind you, I wasn t upset and even said multiple times I was fine without it and you don t have to ask.
The end result was they agree to charge me for another salad but only give me the tuna to put on one salad.. it made absolutely no sense to me..
What a bad impression, will not go back!
The sushi is delicious, especially the sweet ones, the prices are okay and the service is fast and prompt.
Great place , food is great for the price , nice and knowledgeable staff , we will be back . Thanks Aaron for being proactive and making our Royal Oak enjoyable
I had the seafood tempora. It was pretty bad. Thw seafood was undercooked, and the vegetables were cut too large, making them clumsy to eat. My significant other had a chicken dish, and stated that it was nothing special. Didn't have any sushi though. I was puzzled as to why this place was so crowded, it must be for their sushi, because their main courses aren't anything special.
Love the two flavor roll and lobster crunch. Fast service .
Decent pan Asian menu and take out service, but our order was not packed well and sauce from one of the entrees spilled all over inside the bag.
Favorite sushi place downtown. But I got one of the specials and it was prepared earlier and was warm.
Always a good time. Sake is on point.sushi is delicious. Service is friendly and fast.
Great selection of entrees & the Sushi is by far the best I've had...Chili Tuna Roll
Sushi not a good as it once was. Rolls seemed small.
Worst customer service I've ever received from the waitress (Elizabeth) & the manager. I asked for no wasabi on my sushi and no surprise they still brought it out with wasabi. When I told the waitress she refused to take it back because my friend and I both ate a piece. When we asked for the manager he approached us with "what do you guys need". I left with a stomach ache and the sushi was disgusting. The only reason Little Tree still has bussiness is because it's in Royal oak. Disgusting food & horrible customer service.
Great sushi mediocre customer service. They'll get you what you need but don't expect a conversation or even a how are you. You'll get good food at a good price and if you want to eat in peace this is the place for you
I love sushi, and Little Tree is a cornerstone of Royal Oak restaurant community, so delicious food like most all Royal Oak restaurants.
Best pork ramen outside Tokyo.
Also, as the sushi chef for a surprise off-the-menu special.
I do not eat sushi so I can't rate the food but I can rate the service which was slow.
It's more than a sushi bar, they have three separate menus. Always have a good experience here!
It was a nice, authentic, Asian sushi bar but the service and waiter was bad. He had no idea whatsoever what he was doing and just said "hey how can I take your order". He didn't even know one roll. Other than that, it is a good Asian food restaurant.
Great Food. Friendly Staff, The best happy. Reasonably priced.
The decorations is above average, the service is average, the price is close to other Japanese restaurants and the taste is average.
Good service. Tofu cooked really well in our noodle dish and sushi was well prepared.
The manager is very rude and smartass. Will never come back again.
Restaurant connection delivers food is awesome ,prepared by excellent sushi chefs
Good sushi, took them forever to bring the food, place was half empty.
A lovely spot you can actually find a table at on a Friday night. Great place to take your friend who doesn't eat sushi when you can't go without it.
Best lemonade I ve literally ever had. The sushi is great too
Great food..... it's a mixture of Japanese, Thai and Philippino food.
Delicious. Kong and Dragon Rolls are fantastic. Hot sake was good but a bit pricey. Ask for the hidden menu.
