This pertains to the Wow and King Kong sushi dishes.

In both dishes, the rice was old and half-cooked. It was soggy, and I could feel pellets in my mouth.

Halfway into the Wow dish, I decided I would not finish the rest of the meal. If the rice tasted spoiled, who knows if they were sanitary about the raw fish. The King Kong tasted like spoiled rice and avocado smushed together. I could not taste the spicy mayo, and the shrimp tempura was nonexistent. I also did not finish this meal.

Perhaps the other dishes are okay, but I would not go back again. American cooks can only cook American dishes. Please hire a real sushi chef who knows what he or she is doing.

This is a pretty great sushi restaurant. Nice and diverse Asian menu aside from sushi offerings. The inside is also very cozy and clean. However, I have door dashed from them 3 times, ordering the Alaskan King Crab roll, and there has been shell chunks in it all 3 times. Today, I nearly choked on it. Please make sure the crab is properly shelled or someone could really injure themselves. I probably won't be ordering that roll again, but will try another instead.

The sushi did not taste fresh. They also charged me for something on my take out order and when I got home the food I got charged for was not in there. When I called the manager said he would refund me and I checked my bank statements and never received a refund. Never going back.

We decided to eat here tonight. This will be our first and last dining experience here. We walked in, there were all of 5 tables occupied. We guessed that there was a hostess somewhere since they had a hostess stand however she was nowhere in sight. So, we spoke to the bartender since the bar is located right by the door. He said, "go ahead and sit anywhere" so we did. We waited for a few minutes and finally a short girl with long blonde hair huffed over to us. She set menus down on the table and grunted, "just so you know, there is a hostess here to seat you" and huffed off. Not the best first impression. We decided to stay because we were both hungry. The food was ok but not that great. The atmosphere is cozy and our waitress Jodi was pleasant but there's no use in returning to an establishment with subpar food where hostesses feel that they can speak to customers in whatever fashion they wish.

Eating sushi in Los Angeles for over a decade. Now I'm in Royal Oak and been here quite a few times. Sushi is fantastic. I generally go for the lighter, more traditional stuff which is always great. Staff is welcoming and personable. My go to sushi place on Royal Oak

Sushi was okay, not bad but just okay. The service was very poor though. Our waiter was not attentive at all. He didn't refill drinks, he did not bring napkins back, and whenever we called him over he would ignore us. Several times he made eye contact with our table but refused to come over. It wasn't a very busy time period when we dined either. We were the only table in his section at the time. After we finished, we were probably waiting 20 minutes for our bill to come. After we paid, we ended up leaving to which he comes storming up asking about why we tipped him poorly.

Now, I am a firm believer in tipping 15%-20% but based on his inability to check in with his table, the tip he received was a reflection his poor performance as a server. On top of that, what kind of restaurant allows their staff to chase customers out?

Luckily, the manager was willing to discuss the issue at hand but I seriously hope that never happens to any future customers. Completely unprofessional.

Food was good, but out waitress could have helped us better being that it was my first time there. She didn t seem to know about the dishes and laughed it off rather than asking someone else or getting someone to help. Other than that pretty decent restaurant that has the best fried California egg roll.

The spicy tuna roll is the best. Most sushi places grind the tuna and the spicy mayo is over powering. Little tree has a large piece of tuna and the spicy mayo is perfect. Ive had Sushi from Aspen, Co to Florida and nothing compares. Sure every place has their go to roll but Little Tree is solid across the board. Never had bad service here either and I've been there at least 30 times.

I'm actually surprised this place has over 3 stars. It is an absolute insult to Asian cooking! Tonight I ordered for starters Miso soup. This was not the right soup it tasted like chicken broth. For main was even worse, a curried dish which was a gloopy sauce, extremely salty and didn't taste like curry but more like a meat thick gravy. I couldn't eat it. If you are the owner of this place reading this review you should be ashamed of yourself for subjecting the people of Royal Oak to the poor standard of food. Please tell me where the authenticity of this food comes from!

Been dining at Little Tree for years and have always been happy with food and service. I called in for an order to go a couple weeks ago and it was so easy. I called it in and parked in back and they brought it out . In and out. Highly recommend during the pandemic and when it returns to normal.

Do not get the Chicken Teriyaki dish. They basically put a white grilled chicken breast (plain) on a plate with a mound of white rice and some stir fry vegetables on the side. It was the most bland chicken I have ever had. I sent it back immediately.

To make it long story short: the food here sucks, and the service makes it a little bit better. 2 stars are for the servers ONLY.

The quality of food here has gone down since the very first time I visited in high school (back in 2011). And now that I think about it, I don't even know if it was good THEN! The food is bland and has no seasoning. How is it Asian cuisine and there's absolutely no flavor? I don't get it. I've ordered things from the udon special to the curry dishes they offer -- LACK OF SEASOSINING will be their downfall. I mean do you have salt in the kitchen? Damn !

I typically order the Philippine fried rice and nothing on the dish is remotely impressive anymore. It's something that I can make at home if I was as bad as the chef who works here. The main difference? It'd actually taste like something! Putting teriyaki sauce on the chicken in hopes that it will revive the dish is a joke. Not even gonna give an A for effort since their menu, recipes, and chefs need a revamp.

During this particular visit, we ordered sushi. All I can really say about it is that it's the worse sushi I've ever had. The yellowtail, which is a classic and one of my favorites, was ruined since it wasn't fresh. If I was to try this place for sushi for my first time I'd be truly disappointed.

Not impressed. Doubt I'll be back unless things change. If my friends or family happen to wanna drag me here, I'll order something they can't mess up -- water.

This place is exceptionally average, with close to the same prices as great sushi places. When I order off of a "specialty roll" menu, I expect more than just 6 pieces of run-of-the-mill sushi. This is the Pizza Hut of sushi, try to find something better.

My friend and I dined in at this location on a Friday night. The place was packed and there was a wait of 25-30 minutes. It was worth the wait though. The service was flawless and the food was great.

I honestly question anyone who gives this place good reviews. One of the worst sushi restaurants I ve ever been to. Miso soup was the only good thing out of the 6 things we ordered. Very disappointed I spent $50.

The food was really delicious. Really authentic. The service was really fast. They bought the food out quickly. It was very fresh I could tell. The favor was great. I definitely would eat there again. The staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu options. They made great suggestions on what to try.

Nice, friendly place. Looks less "diner" than most of RO.

The menu is large, with three sections for Japanese, Thai, and Philippine dishes, and the traditional sushi roll check sheet. I usually get the yaki udon, but there's a bunch of good vegetarian items on the menu. They have no trouble with lunch groups from work.

And the default is chopsticks, you don't have to beg for them like at most of the other Asian places.

I have dined here more than a hand full of times through the years. Not the best sushi I ever had but really good, no doubt. I enjoy it or I wouldn't keep coming back obviously. There's just no magic in it for me.

Food is great and service has always been pretty good, but it's in downtown Royal Oak, which means table turnover is garbage because all the trendy snobs would rather take pictures of their sushi than eat it.

I give it two stars for the service only. The waiter was nice but that is by it. Thank you Mr. waiter you where the only good thing. We went in there on a Friday night at random while walking around Royal Oak. First of all it was freezing right when walked in there and my intuition told me to leave but I didn't listen I thought Id warm up with some hot sake.Let me tell how bland it was. Past that we order appetizers the seafood puffs they had no flavor what so ever and they came with this nasty sauce I think Lemon peel, really?? we also ordered the chicken staka which was two chicken skewers with yet another nasty sauce. Sauces where clashing with the appetizers and the appetizers had no flavor just like the sushi. The sushi was so bland and oily it had no flavor and no Asian zing at all. I couldn't even finish it. I am a sushi lover and I have to have it all the time so my palette is well developed when it comes to sushi and Asian cuisine as a whole. This was way overpriced for some bland oily sushi. I felt sooo bad for the person paying for this experience. I am so bummed its nothing like it looks on the outside don't be deceived. Take your money to an authentic spot and enjoy actual sushi prepared by people that actually know sushi like my usual spot JOA SUSHI!

Ok if you think you will come here and get great sushi, you wont. The sushi is average, borderline very bland also not sure about how fresh it is. We went there as a group and when I reordered the California roll, the crab in them was still cold, feels like someone took it out of the fridge. The prices are good though for what you get!

Never going back. The service was horrible. Even the manager was beyond rude. Food was not edible. I left this place hungry and still had to pay for my food. It was a waste of my Saturday night dinner experience :(

We've been here a few times and have always had a good experience. The nigiri and sashimi pieces are well cut and reasonably priced. The rolls are good too although some of them can be a little pricey. What is really good and different are the different Thai, Phillipino, and Japanese apps and entrees. I've had the Phillipino fried rice and it was delicious, as close as I've gotten to a true Phillipino breakfast in a while. My wife had the Gang Gai which is a Thai curry with eggplant and she loved it as well. The desserts are hit or miss we weren't crazy about the banana spring rolls but we loved the tempura cheesecake.
