Loved this place! What a treasure right on the water! We didn't have any food so I can't speak to that, though the menu looked very good, as did the food ordered by the patrons around us. We were there around 6 on a Friday and were able to get a seat on the upstairs patio - SCORE! We had a couple of drinks and enjoyed the view. By the time we left it was really filling up. It's not cheap but just lovely!

Nice atmosphere, good staff. Had a few starters to share.
- humbodlt squid - chicken kaarage - lamb and ravioli
The squid was okay, not much flavour. Chicken karaage was decent, nothing special. Now the raviolli was good, the lamb was disgusting. Really overcooked and tasteless lamb, I was especially disappointed with this dish. Overall I would not go back to this restaurant. For the price, the quality should be better.
Overall, had a great time here. Great atmosphere, awesome food, nice views. The only turn off was our waiter - Curtis. He may have had a rough day, but he was unnecessarily rude to me and my family. That's the only reason why I give this place 3 stars.
Visited during happy hour, the drink and food menu was good but unfortunately our waitress was not. She came to our table to drop off our drinks but did not come back until we asked for our bills.
Had a great experience at the Lift. Booked a table via Google for a Friday night. Our waitress (Paige) was super friendly. The food was good and the location is awesome.
Great location with some of the best views in the city. Very modern interior, you are welcomed by an fantastic aquarium and a beautiful bar. The top floor has a spacious deck which is a must in the summer. The food though was lacking that evening. You can get much better sushi in Vancouver. My main, the sea bass, was perfectly cooked but came with a side of cold rice. Menus are handed on iPads, which is fun. The service was very friendly, no complaints. Would come back and try again for the view alone.
Top location over the water directly at the harbor. I have never eaten fish and chips so well anywhere! Shrimp Tempura was fantastic. Everything was super fresh!
Friendly, humble staff. The waiter told me a story: one penny alone left on the table after "usual" tip is an old Irish tradition. Its meaning is that the customer was extremely happy with the service of the waiter. I left my coin too.
Great service by the hosts! They invited my dog to hang out with them in the air-conditioned foyer instead of in the car or on the sidewalk. Much appreciated and remembered! The food was good.
Service is terrible, the wine showed up half way through the meal. The portions of food in the main dishes is small considering the price we paid. Very expensive for what you get. Complained to the manager about the service and he seemed to not care.
I'm giving a 3 star rating as the food was good & decently priced. Service was not very good at all. Clearly the restaurant had been slammed with customers shortly before our arrival. The hostess had us wait a few minutes before seating us so the waitress could 'catch up'. Fair enough. Once seated, the waitress did not appear for a number of minutes and when she did it was to inform us she'd be a minute to get back to us and then she corrected that to "more like 5 minutes" because she had other tables to take care of. Huh? What are we? She finally came back, brusquely took our order and we never saw her again until she came by to ask if we needed anything else (we were almost done and ready leave), I asked if we might get the bill in advance as we needed to get to our gate. Lo and behold, she had the bill with her! Thankfully, because it took 10 minutes for her to bring the machine at which point she decided she had time to chit chat. Service needs to improve.
There's a round fat fish in the aquarium that's freakin' adorable.
The Humboldt squid is quite good. A bit spicy but not overly.
Buck a shuck oysters which is pretty unheard of nowadays. Comes with fresh horseradish, cocktail sauce, some hot sauce (Tabasco available), and a mignonette. I'm a traditionalist so I'm good with just a squeeze of lemon and a touch of Tabasco.
Friendly service, good seafood (we shared appys) the tables were well spaced out - it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The complementary parking was appreciated. We will definitely be back
Had a wonderful night !! The drinks and food was amazing. We had a sushi roll, muscles and an entree. Our server, Erenee knew her stuff!! She made our night by surprising up with a desert to help celebrate our anniversary. Great night out !! We will be back.
Good food, airport prices but the waiter was awful.....service was terrible !! We have just spent 3weeks in USA and Canada and this treatment shocked us. He really needs to get a job that doesn't involve customer interaction!! We have tipped generously on our holiday.... he got the miserable $2 he deserved . We will definitely be back to Canada again soon but will not be coming back to Lift bar and grill .
The place to visit in the summertime only. We were on the top level and you cannot see any view in wintertime at this level. It's all closed with cellophane. The Interior itself is ordinary. The menu is pricey as the view is included in the price :) The food is ok, but nothing special. The poke bowl was tasty. Lamp and ravioli were shockingly small for Canada. European size. They have a huge wine cart and a lot of cocktails. Maybe I'll return in the summertime and change my opinion, but for now, I don't recommend this place.
Views and patio are great, Service is ok, portions are not big enough though so after three plates for sharing for two people you might still be hungry...
Great place for a good meal and great views. Definitely trendy and somewhat upscale given its location. The menu is a bit challenging if you are vegan unfortunately, and it is surprising given that animal food/plant based food choices are one of the biggest trends of 2017.
Nice place to take a date. Food is good. Chef is very good. Intimate atmosphere. This is not a cheap restaurant. This is a quality high end restaurant. I would highly recommend making a reservation. Popular restaurant.
LIFT has a great atmosphere. It's best on a sunny day when the view of the harbour is transparent. I was pleased with the taste and presentation of my order. The service was punctual and articulated any questions.
The outdoor terrace with its fires makes for such a romantic setting and that's even without the stunning view! It is a tad expensive here but the food is delicious and the staff were really friendly. Ignore the reviewers that claim the food is anything other than great.
In the summer, there are few places in Vancouver that can beat Lift's patio. Located on stilts lifting it out of the water, it has the perfect view of Stanley Park, Coal Harbour, and the North Shore. Both the food and drinks are delicious, although it can be a little pricey to eat there (hence the 4 stars) so I usually just go there for drinks. Overall, it's my favourite place to eat or drink in Coal Harbour and always a welcomed destination on a sunny day.
BEST.STEAK.EVER! I love the food there and can't wait to come back. I ordered some flowers for my friends, too, as a thank you to them, and it worked without any problems. I love it! Great service! Everytime I talk about vacation time in Vancouver, I have to talk about this place :)
Excellent food, service, and views. Ceviche was light and bright and full of flavor. Prawns were cooked perfectly and had a bit of spice. The sea bass was cooked perfectly. Highly recommended.
Great drinks, great food, great service, amazing view! FYI, Happy Hour is only down in the bar area, not the dining area, which was my only disappointment.
I've been to this restaurant 3 times in the last 4 months.
The food is about 3.5 / 5 stars. It's good, freshly made, nothing extraordinary. The view is incredible. It has the best view in all of Vancouver.
Unfortunately the service sucks. One of the worst service I've gotten at any restaurant in Vancouver. And this horrible service is consistent on all visits.
On my 2nd visit, I was there to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday. They sat us in the most central spot where there was a ton of foot traffic, we didn't enjoy the seat. We must have had 8 different people serving us that night. There was no relationship with our waitress. In fact, I don't even know if we had a waitress. We waited for over an hour and 15 minutes for our entrees to arrive. It was terrible. At some point we were going to get up, settle the bill for drinks and starters and just leave. Then some new guy in training came and accidentally spilled water all over my mother's dress. They did knock 20% of our bill. But I didn't feel it was enough. It was her birthday, and she was very upset.
On my last visit (yesterday), I came on a date. We walked in at around 9 pm without a reservation. Again, horrible service continued. I asked if patio was available, the hostess informed that there was around 40 minutes wait for the patio, but we could sit at the bar in the meantime. We gladly sat at the bar and asked to be notified as soon as patio becomes available. We ordered drinks and some starters. After about 45 minutes I checked on the hostess about the patio, and was told that there should be something available and she'll come and let us know. I sat at the bar for another 40 minutes, waiting for the host. She never came to get us for patio.
On my way out, I went upstairs to check out the view and noticed empty tables on the patio. As I was leaving the restaurant, I mentioned to the hostess that there WERE in fact empty seats on the patio and she failed to inform us. She was in denial about it, and gave me some bullshit excuse. Unbelievable!
I will never go back that place. Yes, the view is incredible. But the service is just so bad, that it takes away from everything positive this restaurant has to offer.
Upfront: This is about Lift Bar Grill at YVR Vancouver Airport. Food and service were good untill the bill came. We first finished our Canadian cash (about 2/3 off the total bill) and then paid the rest of the bill by credit card. We tipped a fair amount but the waitress apparently thought it wasn't enough. She asked for more stating that we also needed to tip over the cash amount and that tipping in Canada is mandatory. When my wife pointed out that she is Canadian (we were speaking Dutch at first in a bigger group) the waitress was startled, packed her stuff and took off. Traveling often to Canada I'd never expected this and my wife as a Canadian, was especially shocked. I'm leaving this review not because of quality of food, drinks or table service but don't let yourself as a tourist be lied to about mandatory tipping You yourself decide what the service is worth. PS I don't think that there are alternatives for this restaurant in this terminal
