Poor treatment of patients. Proper procedures not followed. Graham Johnson in A and E was extremely rude inconsiderate and patronising. He didnt let me speak and explain my situation properly. He talked over me and made me feel inferior, absolutely disgusting excuse for a human being. He is definitely in the wrong profession as he doesn't know how to talk to people let alone provide care for them. I have reported him to the PALS ombudsman. I am not impressed at all as I pay for NHS I pay taxes and I work unlike 90 % of the others attending.

My dad recently stayed on ward L15. Surgeons were fabulous. Ward was unclean...meant to have a deep cleaning every Monday but in the 5 weeks dad was in we never saw this happen. They can't get hold of the equipment they need...dad waited 4 days for a vac pump after his operation and it transpired the delay was due to inexperienced staff not knowing where to get one from! Many inexperienced and agency staff who don't seem to know what they are doing/don't seem to care. Can't get to complain as left message for matron Fiona White to call me twice but she ignored the messages and didn't call me back. Communication dreadful as didn't know half of the time what the treatment plan was for my dad...felt helpless. They were so busy they even had to start putting two patients in each side room which is only meant for one patient!. To top that all off there's a ghost on the ward that kept coming into dad's room on a night and when he mentioned it to staff they all knew and had seen it...how about getting someone in to get rid of it then? In my opinion that ward needs a strong matron to get a grip of the running of the ward, she needs to be accessible and make her presence felt more/be visible on the ward. In my opinion that ward is a disaster waiting to happen. It is such a shame as the Surgeons do a sterling job but the aftercare is then appalling.
I have been seeing Dr Tayebjee, cardiologist, at the LGI for over 6 years and he has performed 3 ablations on my heart over this time after previous complex tricuspid valve surgery, also carried out at the LGI. I just had the 3rd ablation after having 2 months of sleeping downstairs and hardly able to make it to the kitchen (3 steps) before having to stop and rest. It changed my life and I was planning for the worst. After Dr Tayebjee and the brilliant ablation team did their stuff in a few hours on the 3rd ablation, I rested for a few hours in the LGI day ward and was well looked after. I was then asked to try walking a little around the ward by the excellent team of nursing staff. I was apprehensive but found I was much better and didn t need to stop and rest after 3 steps. I then sneaked out of the LGI ward temporarily (not recommended), took the lift down 3 floors and walked quickly up 6 flights of stairs just puffing and panting at the end. It was magic - I m unfit and overweight at 66 years old. Incredible. I thanked Dr Tayebjee on his rounds later that day by shaking his hand non-stop while the other patients in the rest room were smiling. I can t lift heavy stuff for a couple of days but have lots to look forward to getting back to normal. Dr Tayebjee said he can t say how long it will last - the previous one lasted 4 yeas, but said it would have to be a different part of the same chamber of the heart that caused the problem in my grossly enlarged right Atrium and he would do it again. My close family were so happy for me and the next day although sore, I kept getting up and walking around the room in disbelief as to how good I felt. Incredible. A new lease of life in one day. Thank you to all of the staff at the LGI - in one day you ve transformed my life for the better.
I had a triple heart bypass in April 2017. It was a big op,but afterwards all the doctors and nurses were superb. Couldn't have asked for anything better.
Leeds General Infirmary Boots Chemist on this LGI Site is appalling.
I collected a private prescription from the Hospital Gum clinic a Post protection PEP drug at their assigned Boots Chemist onsite to prevent HIV that I may or may not been in accidental contact with that was highly sensitive and private information one might think and went to collect it at this Boots Chemist at the LGI Hospital.
On heading for the Door at this Chemist the Chemist Mrs Wong turned to the lady who stocked the shelves and in front of what may of been other customers with a look of distaste on her face. Who said "What's it for" ? ... The Chemist loud enough for me to hear said "Its For HIV!"....
This is a Complete Breach of my Confidentiality, a Breach of Patient confidentiality, The Sale of Goods act, and my Right to Privacy under the Human Rights act. Indeed any professional business standards. Etc !
After contact with Boots chemist head office and indifferently contacted by the area manager for this Hospital chemist Nothing has been done to reassure me and any other of Our Protection and Respect and dignity for patient privacy.
Indeed Nothing came of it, certainly No further contact...absolute disregard for my privacy and self respect. The PALS dept for this site have Ignored the complaint as have the Gum Clinic who sent me to this Chemist with their prescription.
So if Your a Patient or potential future patient of the Gum Clinic at LGI and asked to go to this Boots Chemist on site be aware Your Privacy is NOT safeguarded, Your Private medical records for Prescriptions may be a part of Gossip and Belittlement in the public domain etc etc etc !
I just want to stay a massive thank you from A & E at LGI to going onto Ward 24. All the the staff have been amazing after a traumatic experience. They found that the tumour I had was active it had to be removed asap which had been causing the excruciating pain. My treatment will be ongoing, as I will need radiotherapy or chemotherapy to blast the rest of the tumour out. The care and support of the staff, I could not have asked for better. 5 star treatment all the way and the Consultants are like your best friend and so supportive. Thank you so much and you don't get enough recognition for all the hard work you do for all your patients. Love you all on Ward 24, your brilliant and compassionate. X
We went into A& E over the bank holiday weekend as my son complained of tummy ache. Some people are complaining about having to wait. Yes we had to wait too, but bearing in mind that all staff had to stick to covid safety measures, and that they were busy with patients who needed urgent care it wasn't actually that long. All staff in the pediatric A&E department, the staff in the wards L30, L42 & surgical team have been brilliant! When a nurse asked who my son's favourite super hero was he simply replied "The NHS, you're super heroes!", I think that shows what a great job everyone is doing. A big thank you to everyone. Keep up the good work x
At LGI 17/5 for endoscopic mucosal resection under Dr Bjorn Rembacken. Outstanding care from him and his team. We are very lucky to have these facilities in Leeds.
The worst place in the world! They keep people waiting while they are playing on their phones! I saw them with my own eyes! More than 8 hours waiting with no feedback. With two kids - one 5, sleeping on the floor, the other 2 weeks old new born, Breastfeeding. I have been there three times in my life and always same, unpleasant place, ignorant staff!
I had to wait 8 hours for them to tell me that my son is fine, he only went for a blood test. They told him to go for an x-ray for no apparent reason and the doctor we got made us wait 2 hours for him to talk to us. He told us he was busy but I could see that he was eating rather than attending us. When they told us we could go they made us wait another hour just to get rid of a pipe in my son's hand that would taked seconds to remove. Although this was only the jubilee wing the others I would give 5 stars but due to this I'm giving then 1. Would be zero if it allowed me.
The main difference I notice about LGI to other hospitals is the staff create a relaxed atmosphere. where in others you can feel the tension and stress the staff are under..
My son was born at 26 weeks at clarendon wing. He spent 3 months in NICU and then SCBU. When he was 6 he had to have a op. My son is 25 now. I will always be grateful to all the staff who saved his life back in 1990.
Rang in the morning to discuss a problem with my plaster cast. Was told to come in to a and e, got there, waited etc to be told there was no one working at the weekend who can do casts. What? At an a and e in a city of this size no one can put on a cast? Ridiculous, especially after I'd already rung up and been told they could.

I have received treatment in the cardiac investigation unit. The service was great. All the staff was polite, helpful and answered all my question. The staff I met outside the unit were friendly and happy. Mr Malkin and Dr Simms are excellent.
