I work here as a porter. I am not blowing my own trumpet but I know we give a good service under sometimes difficult circumstances. The place is clean and there is always someone around to help if needed.

Although the staff do their job. The waiting time till you see a doctor is rediculous. For someone who s in pain, I waited 6 hours to finally see a doctor. I ve seen better services in a third world country hospital.

Currently here with my son, having travelled from Sunderland for specialist care for his liver. The care we have had has been great, only criticism I would levy would be the directions around the hospital internally. Often hard to find places

A joke of a place. I understand the long waits in a&e, everywhere is the same, however the service received is unacceptable. Apparently my mother did not look like there was something wrong with her or that she s ill enough to even be there. How can you judge it by just looking at someone. She s in constant stomach pain and vomit everything she eats and has black stools which can indicate internal bleeding. Well apparently to them she s wasting their time being there since she s not throwing up enough to have something wrong with her. I m pretty sure if someone is in constant pain for over a week and no medication is working, there is something wrong with them. The only reason she s only throwing up once a day cause that s all she eats! She looks like a skeleton already, how much longer is she gonna have to go on like this for them to make an effort to look into it properly!

I had a larger than normal Wisdom Tooth extraction operation done last week via General Anaesthetic and was admitted onto Ward L28 - Level D. All the staff from arriving to discharging was excellent. They constantly checked to see how I was even before I went to theatre and the aftercare was beyond compare. Even the food which admittedly was only a sandwich was tasty and not like a piece of cardboard which I what I have experienced in other establishments. Although I technically had a relatively small operation, the staff made you feel 'special' and looked after your needs without having to wait or repeat your request.
Well done, you made what was a traumatic experience into a more 'enjoyable' experience if having a tooth out can be enjoyable that is!

Delivered my baby there. Midwife was amazing and everything was amazing! Anyone who finds a problem with waiting times- blame the people on benefits that make your prestige self have to wait! Get real you puddings, if you dont like waiting go private!

Not even 1 star. Waiting time too long, over 9 hours. Unbelievable when you see that in the waiting area there are just 3 more people.
Some staff lovely but jot qualified, ask for a bandage after 8 hours and staff unable to make it properly.
A total disgrace

This 1 star rating isn't for the staff or the cleanliness of the hospital as these are both as good as you get.

However correct me if I am wrong but I thought this would as 2018? How can a hospital think it's a good idea to have a car park that is pay and display?

If hospitals were well oiled machines where there were never delays or hold ups, then pay and display would still be a terrible idea. But when you have no idea how long an appointment or visit to A&E may take, let alone how long you may be waiting, then how the heck are you meant to know how long you need to pre-pay for your parking?

Let's pretend you play it cautious and pay for 4 hours for your appointment. Plenty of time for your little boy to have his MRI scan right? The department is busy and your appointment is delayed. Then your little boy won't let them put a cannula in so it is even longer.

Finally they get your little boy asleep and tell you to come back in 45 mins. Still got an hour on parking, so all is fine.

No wait it took longer than expected. Do you risk getting a parking fine or not being there when your boy wakes up?

It's 2018 and I have lived in Leeds all my life. Would it be so hard to put a barrier on the car park and have it charge you for the time you stayed.

Or even just pay by phone, so you can top it up without risking missing your appointment?

Not to mention the cafe that is a 10 minute walk (if you're fit and healthy) from the reception. Yet the cafe doesn't take card payments, so you have no choice but a 20 minute round trip to get money to pay 85p for 1 rashers of bacon.

Come on Leeds, I know running a hospital is expensive and difficult. But these things don't need to cost a lot. I don't even mind if your charge more for your parking, but sort it out

All the emergency department staff it's a joke, they left my mum screaming and crying for 7 hours keep forgetting to give her a stronger painkiller. I'm shocked. Disgusting!hope I neve need help from them. Still don't know what's happen to my mum, they need to study more and be more sensible with old people. Shame.

The only place to go if you need medical care!
Had a major accident? then this is a must.

Good A and E
Great general medical.
Fantastic place for heart surgery.
Basicly its a hospital right in the city centre of Leeds. Which means its very difficult to find anywhere near the hospital to park a car, which might be a problem if you are a bit poorly or your legs dont work as they should. visiting a poorly hospitalised relative or friend is a nightmarish exspensive exsperiance in a busy city like Leeds.

A part of Leeds teaching hospital trust. St james hospital leeds is where the trust HQ is.

When I fractured a bone in my foot last October I could barely walk for the pain, but I had to wait hours to get it looked at - this is the nature of a hospital and not the staff's fault. However when finally walking to the assessment and x-ray etc I was not offered any assistance. Finally got diagnosed and I was given the very last walking boot in the hospital, so I feel sorry for any other poor sods who broke their feet that day!

Second time there, in January, I had a three night stay in hospital because of a hand infection that needed operating on. I was on antibiotics and antivirals, the staff were amazing and friendly, as were the people in my ward (oddly I was with people with broken legs so I felt rather bad that I was so easily having a shower etc when they couldn't). When the op finally came around the infection had been annihilated and they put me on some really great stuff because I was practically on the verge of a panic attack. Spent the next hour or so thinking about how beautiful one of the nurses was and laughing with the operating doctor who kept dropping and catching my numbed arm and challenging me to punch him in the face hahaha

Worst hospital I have been to in terms of Staff. Staff are rude and offer little comfort or help. Tried to change an ENT appointment that was set up whilst I was at A&E, only to have the A&E receptionist rudely dismiss me saying it was the ENTs responsibility to change it untill I was finally told there was nothing they could do about it. Yet the note given to me at A&E said I could. Now I'm stuck with the wrong appointment date, an appointment I critically need. Absolutely horrible.

According to the media, they force patients to lie on the floor when A&E is overcrowded!
Of course they apologized, but the administrator, chief executive and other managers should be SACKED because hospital floors are dirty and staff can trip over patients!

I had to have a CT scan after a chest infection . The speed and efficiency that this carried out was fantastic . I was scanned within a week of my chest X-ray on Friday morning and the results were with my GP on the Monday . I received a call from the hospital for my results to be explained and to explain I need another scan in 3months . You wouldn't get this level of service in the private sector ! Thanks again to everyone concerned .

I was in hospital for operation. Was only expected to be in overnight. My neck swelled a little so was kept in for further investigations. Which most have been put down to my stroke. I had back in january of 2017. I was so happy when i was told i was going to leeds for op. The nurses at Leeds are fantastic I was on ward L24 those staff was under pressure but not from patients but goverme t pressure bit still they had a smile day, afternoon & nightshift not one member moaned they smiled and looked after us. I jokingly said boy Leeds need to go Bradford to show them how its done.

Leeds staff deserve more than a rise they deserve much more. They need to be appreciated for thier work. The consultants also spoke to us as patient and not spoke through us like wasnt there. It made me feel like i want to come to this hospital if ill or treatments.

Well i am, i am returning there for my sleep problems & also my orthapedic problems. All thanks to the Condultants understanding us.

Superb service in the face of government neglect. Staff friendly, efficient, skilled. Needs our support and should not be privatised. When things go wrong in local private hospitals, and they do all too often, the LGI and St James' are called on to clear up the mess.

Been here twice with my son who's only 8 months old, each time for something rather serious and last time we waited 11 hours on a chair to then be admitted and this time it's been 8 so far and nothing has been done as there is one doctor who's dealing with an emergency, if someone was to need immediate help, there is no one and I mean no one qualified on the children's unit to do anything. You would think sick children would be staffed correctly? Joke!

Cannot thank enough the staff at the LGI for taking such care of husband when he was rushed to hospital on Friday , he received immediate care , and as for the 2 paramedics that treated him at home and in the ambulance , can t thank them enough , my husband unfortunately gave them some very difficult situations , which he doesn t even remember , but they coped extremely well with the situation , and even after my husband had been addmited , they came to me to see if I was ok , and this made me feel so much better , I can t thank everyone enough , it really has opened my eyes to all concerned in the N H S in this country they need medals all of them .

Visited A&E on a monday evening with my son who fell of his BMX at the skate park. The staff were wonderful. So friendly and attentive. We were seen relatively quickly, x ray staff were fantastic, we just had to wait a while to be seen by the consultant which was the reason for my 4*. That and it's a nightmare to park.

i do not like that hospital because I been there because my grandma was in hospital and I wanted my grandma alive but they didn't give any treatment to her and she passed away and after that I don't like the name of lgi or the hospital

I have been in and out of here for nearly 20 years and the staff and treatment are second to none. I have had very positive experiences each time I have been in. In the past year I have found the staff answering the phone and dealing with admissions on the telephone have been rude and not as helpful as in previous years. On three separate occasions I have had to call and change the date of an appointment and each time, despite changing the date there has been no communication to the Consultant and I have had a mark against my name as a no show. I value the NHS resources too much not to show up.

It's a great hospital! My son was on the pediatric ward and then transferred to the surgical ward which both wards have such polite and well mannered nurses/doctors. They are very understanding and sympathetic about situations and explain any precedures thoroughly. So much better than our local hospital! Thanks.

It's a good place the hospital and area looks good.but there is one thing they can improve on which is. Updating their maps as I couldn't find where my Physiotherapy appointment was as the lady on the CT reception didn't know where it was and told me to go to the maim reception and ask,so I did they told me but didn't quite understand as they told me where to go and said just to follow the plan they have draw .On the paper which then resulted in me missing my appointment and getting lost.I think the reception staff need to know their way around if they gone work there.

Gay couple sent to the LGI Emergency department by NHS 111 treated with discrimination by staff.
Husband on the say so of the nurse forced into being interrogated about his very ill elderly husbands private and confidential conversations they stole.

The provocation and retaliation failed as it was all false and malicious hearsay. nothing but defamation.

The very ill husbands treatment was terrible fascicle and open to a malpractice claim. So much for 'duty of care' it did not exist here.

Save yourself and any ill family friends and go elsewhere they are not fit for purpose.

I phoned 8 times to get through to a High Dependancy Ward - put on hold for up to 13 minutes only to be cut off with no word. Disgusting conduct especially when your loved one is in HDU and unexpectedly and you need to find out quickly what has happened.

Pain. Pain pain and more pain is my overriding memory of this place. I would give 1* but the surgeon did do an excellent job of putting me back together and there were a few staff who tried to make things better. It was so bad at one point though that I rang A&E from my hospital bed to get pain relief as I had been calling out and ringing the nurse button, in agony, for 45 minutes before anyone came. They wouldn't even allow you 24 hour supply of paracetamol and ibuprofen in personal possession so what inevitably happened is they give you the last dose at 10:30pm and the morning dose at 8:30am - that's 10 hours between doses, which, when you have had 17 titanium screws and a titanium plate in your leg, is unacceptable. In addition my consultant surgeon said I needed more pain relief, an anesthesiologist noted no physiological response after 30mg of IV oxycodone and said I needed more pain relief as I was showing a tollerance for the medication i was on, then a "pain nurse" cut the dose I was on!!! Additionally I asked to be
switched from oxycodone to morphine which is half as strong and explained when they did this they would need to double the dose to make sure I had the same (still inadequate) pain relief) and was told it would be. When it came they actually halved the quantity rather than doubling it - equivalent to cutting my dose by 75%! Eventually I got them to double my dose but that still represented a 50% drop in dose. In France when I had titanium plates put in my arm I was given diacetylmorphine in my drip which actually worked. I asked for that here but they wouldn't give even immediately post-operatively to kill pain. Nothing has done more to encourage me to get private health insurance than this stay in this hospital. Shameful.

I attended the Orthopeadic Trauma clinic yesterday 22 July in Clarendon Wing and I just want to say how impressed I was with the organisation of the clinic. Everyone was very friendly and patient and all procedures were performed quickly. The attention to safeguarding against Covid was superb, I was in and out within 30 minutes and did not once feel unsafe in the environment.
Well done to the team.

Poor follow up. Tried to contact on several occasions the neurology department at LGI. On the rare occasion someone answered , no one could give any feedback from the consultation i had when i was admitted to A & E . The rest of the attempts to call went unanswered I am still in immense pain and cannot get any outcome due to lack of responses from department or communication. Very poor

I was doing MRI head scan for possible brain cancer and they been told that i gonna have to wait for 2 weeks to ger my results. Now its been 3 weeks and there are no news. Everyone ignores me no calls no nothing. Gp doesn't know anything..when i been there they clearly didn't liked me probably because i i not brittish white and have few tattoos (its not the first time in this country when they treat me similary) looks like they ignore me on purpose..don't recommend using this hospital unless you are brittish or have a lot of money.

As a person who has been in the premises on a visit in the past and all I can say is that I have been blown away by the experience,
Staff were very excellent and helpful.
My procedure treatment was top notch, all i can say is that I am happy to sing the praise of the premises.

I believe that the premises has the nickname of Jimmy's.

Great hospital! Great Staff! Both my mum and dad were admitted straight away with no wait, when they had heart attacks respectively.
It pains and annoys me to see people rate the a&e so lowly.
This isn't first come first serve, they treat based on severity of the illness. To those who have complaints about waits of over 6 hour's, all I'll say is if you're still alive after 6 hours of not being treated, well it obviously wasn't an emergency! Either go see you're GP or put up and shut up!
Finally a word to all the nurses and doctors out their, times are tough and you deserve better from the government and from the public. Keep doing what you're doing and thanks for saving my mum's and dad's life. I don't know what I'd do without them!

Being someone with an Autistic condition i am useto prejudice. I required genral health care, but during the 6 month time frame this took place within leeds Teaching hospitals i was bullied and treated as if inferior to other people and had little if anything exsplained through out the 6 months. No one cared about this bullying. Shamfull behaviour from many people who should know better.

chief of LGI Leeds Hospital,Julian Hartley should be sacked! or the incompetent manager from the Radiology department. Had my ear drum
damaged permanently during an MRI scan of my TMJ. They set up some things around that department Rose Mary Kennedy, wore earplugs after the scan I had sever tinnitus, eye problems and dizzines, after consulting with a audiologist I was diagnosed with permanent hearing damage.
Extremely unprofesional, they probably kill people at this hospital at others requests as well! During a A&E visit for DVT the nurse tried to drug me with large does of morphine after I told her I was allergic!

Disgusting service of care. I have been here three times and each times gets worse. Dislocated my knee and it was not put into the proper place. Waiting for over 3 hours to be seen only to receive sarcastic comments off of the orthopaedic departments front desk after self dismissing myself. Arriving at the hospital when first dislocating my knee at 9pm and not leaving till 5am, no splints so had to taxi one over as well as a rude member of staff named Rose in the A and E department.

Extremely poor care with mental health patients. Absolutely appalling, never seen a hospital so dysfunctional and rude to their mental health patients who actually need reassurance, kindness and care. Dreading going back next week for a check up.
