Though we have Platinum membership, we booked a Superior room and stayed on the 6th floor. The lounge was being renovated but there was a reserved area on the ground floor and we were told that we could have breakfast in the restaurant free of charge (we would normally have breakfast in the lounge) so all seemed well. At breakfast we were told that there would be a charge as our room was not on the 8th floor. I explained we were Platinum members and would normally eat in the lounge. Breakfast itself was mediocre. When we came to check out, I wanted to make sure we had not been charged for breakfast but the lone receptionist was involved with another guest for such a long time that we had to abandon that and leave the keys on the desk. Another member of staff who was sitting behind the reception desk looked up at us and went back to whatever she was doing. I still don't know if we were charged - we return after our holiday so I hope things will have returned to normal. Not the usual excellent service we are used to at this hotel, sadly

I booked the Sofitel at Gatwick on Travelocity, purely as a matter of price and convenience. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised by this fabulous hotel! The staff were amazing - I arrived at 09:30 in the morning and was allowed to check in immediately, the room and bathroom clean, comfortable and quiet and the food and wine selection excellent. I would now stay here out of choice during future travel...

This is the third time we have stayed at Sofitel Gatwick and each stay has been relaxing, comfortable rooms, great service and good food, although the Pan Asian restaurant is a little overpriced, the brasserie is good value.

Sofitel, is by far my favourite hotel chain, however, the gatwick one is a let down. Limited room service, the prestige suite was a real let down. It's basically a normal room with a door to a lounge which usually can be shared. In the suite the curtains had snot stained, the bedding smelt of someone else's perfume, which makes me to believe it wasn't actually changed. Then the bathroom is very cramp, the bathroom door handle came off, the door was cracked in various areas, the overall room has a 4/10 from me.

I have now decided to put all my bussiness airport bookings from gatwick with either the Marriott or Hilton. If you can fly out of Heathrow do so and try the Sofitel there it's 11/10. The wifi was beyond acceptable and as I only stayed 1 night it wasn't that much of an issue. I stayed on the highest floor and wasn't impressed at all. I will not be returning, better hotels with value for money in and around gatwick.

The quality of the room just wasn't very good, compared to Sofitel at Heathrow. It was similar to Travel lodge. The interior is tired, the restaurant wasn't great and the room disappointing.

There is nothing to fault with this hotel. 6th overnight visit always a perfect start and or end to our holiday . Slight blip with the meal in the Urban last night, however managed swiftly and efficiently. Book 8th floor brilliant views of the runways - great start to your holiday

Connected to Gatwick Airport's North Terminal, this upscale hotel is 3 miles from the Gatwick Aviation Museum. Rooms include free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and desks, as well as tea and coffeemaking facilities. Upgraded rooms have views of the slopes and access to a lounge where snacks and drinks are offered for free. There are 3 restaurants serving English, Chinese and French dishes. There is also a bar on the balcony. A fitness center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A hot tub, a business center and 14 meeting rooms are also available. Parking is charged.

Very practical because it is immediately attached to Gatwick airport. It looks like a closed citadel. Excellent for business meetings with many meeting rooms to book. It has a good launge bar on the top floor (the Millennium) and has two restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Equipped with a closed square where you can comfortably sit in armchairs waiting to meet. Suitable for work. The rooms are very good ... all equipped with wifi, bathroom in the room, without the bidet ... bath tub with shower. Carpeting in the room with sitting area, double bed, writing desk and TV. Average / high cost to be in England. To go to central London you need the Gatway ecspress or the train or (more expensive) taxi service. Concierge with reception counter with 3 operators present. View from the upper floors on the surrounding structures ... 4 very practical and capacious elevators with windows on the large internal hall.

Poor - hotel room #550 smelt of smoke, tv & internet didn't work. Poor facility to make coffee & tea. No hair conditioner in bathroom. Extremely disappointed with aging facilities & an above average nighty rate. Sofitel has to do better.

The greeting here is always efficient and friendly, the rooms are comfortable and the food offering in both the restaurant and the Podium are well cooked and presented and in a "captive" environment such as Gatwick airport are well priced.

Excellent hotel, perfect for getting to the north terminal. Really made for a relaxing morning before getting out flight. Only slight issue was the lengthy wait for a table in the restaurant, but doesn't detract from the overall experience.

An overnighter to assist with a (very) early morning flight. The hotel has some renovations going on so not all of the usual restaurant facilities were available. Our check in service was very warm with particular praise to the concierge who went out of his way to be helpful. We decided to have an early dinner in the bar. The food and wine were nice but the service was a little less attentive than preferred. There were plenty of staff but they seemed more involved in what went on behind the bar than looking after the people in front of it. The rooms are nicely appointed and quiet.

My preferred hotel in Gatwick. The place is conveniently located and it is also close to my place of work. Rooms are relatively big and well maintained. Breakfast is decent and available very early. They have good choice of restaurant. Fitness facilitate are good and I love it. Overall a great place to stay at Gatwick.

Had to switch rooms at 1230am when my partner tried to shower but was unable due to a faulty faucet, then had to repack our belongings and move to a nearby room.

Then woke up at 4am with diarrhea and explosive vomiting from the room service meal. Although the manager was quite kind when this was discussed I did not appreciated the subtle comments claiming I could have got the food poisoning elsewhere. When completely undigested food comes up 4hrs after consumption when not eating anything for 8hrs prior it is quite easy to pinpoint the source.

The hotel is a great place to stay. Always found it really comfortable and the staff very polite and helpful. The only downside has been I found the restaurants to be slightly expensive but if you want you can get to the south terminal via the shuttle as there are some places to eat there.

I was very satisfied with the attitude of the staff who were very helpful in all respects. I had injured my back and was very surprised when the concierge organised a helper to assist me in getting from the hotel to the check
in desk at the South Terminal. I am very thankful for the assistance and the courtesy of the staff.

Location not easy to get to london but close to train services inside gatwick. My room's complimentary internet never worked, it did not allow me to log in using my own information. No microwave but has a small mini fridge and overall nice ambiance

Edit: the wifi not working was due to a clerical error, not technical issues. Not sure if that makes it better or worse though.

Good check in and helpful staff. Disappointed that the restaurants were undergoing a refurbishment. Temporary carvery was in a function room on a lower floor that lacked atmosphere and was expensive for a two course salad and carvery! Rooms seem ready for a refurbishment too. However, very comfy bed & pillows, well located power points, sound proofed, good black out curtains, pleasant complimentary toiletries, easy check out and great location. Therefore overall satisfied!

I have made several overnight stays in Sofitel. It is still the best option in Gatwick. However, this time we were disappointed by the brasserie, which offers only a buffet option for dinner due to undergoing works in its usual location. The buffet was not bad, but bellow the usual standard, which is one of the hotel's attractions.

My wife and I stayed here the night before flying out for our honeymoon. We had a luxury room with lounge access and it was fantastic. The room was fantastic and the service from all the staff was second to none. I have already recommended this hotel to my family and will definitely stay again in the future

We had an excellent experience at check in with Manuel. As soon as he realised it was the start of our honeymoon he took excellent care of us, upgrading our room and some free drinks made us feel really special. This is actually the second time we have stayed and our visit this time really improved my opinion.

Great location, fantastic suite on the 7th floor. Thoroughly enjoying our stay before flying out to Vietnam. A smart modern luxury hotel where the staff cannot do enough for you. Would definitely recommend.

Very helpful staff and nice surroundings, the bedroom was quiet with a lovely bed. And you couldn't get closer to the North Terminal, the hotel is basically attached to it.

Left my car with the hotel for 10 days which was very easy and convenient and a pretty good price, too.

We were supposedly upgraded to a nice room but the bathroom to this nicer room was tiny.

The hotel has a brilliant location because of the short walk to the North Terminal. That is the hotel's principal asset. But the hotel has definitely seen better days - it feels a bit patched up. The Club Lounge was very disappointing - it More
