We stayed here for one night before flying on holiday. The hotel is very nice but to our surprise we were awarded guest of the day and upgraded to the luxury floor and it was amazing! The bed was very comfotable, the club lounge very welcoming. We ate in the urban cafe, retired to bed early and checked out at 7am to catch our flight. Check out was quick and easy. Next time we fly from Gatwick we shall stay here and this time we will book a luxury room ourselves.
An arrival without reservation, a person at the reception speaking French (who must be French I think) of great efficiency coupled with great courtesy. A perfect brasserie dinner. A room with a more than perfect bed and pillows. All this made that I spent in your hotel an evening and a night (short (4 hours) very restful. I am looking forward to spending the night of Sunday evening April 30 in your establishment with my daughter.
It makes me think that I have to book my room
Nice enough for an airport hotel. Coffee at breakfast is terrible, however.
We booked so they we could be on the airport for our early flight and also park the car
Fantastic stay. Very warm welcome received, hotel is ideally located in the terminal and despite being at a busy airport , I slept really well. The rooms are very well sound proofed.
Report quality of reception and excellent price, furniture of our room completely outdated but quality bedding, lots of people but no noise nuisance. Restaurant that could take full advantage of its location to inflate its prices and which remains reasonable, successful gourmet cuisine. I expected much less from this hotel and was pleasantly surprised.
Smooth, efficient, comfortable, extremely convenient right next to the airport, a most perfect way to start your holiday!
Stayed here on the 16th in a day room, it's a nice hotel. Room was decent and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud which was perfect as I was super jetlagged.
We were very pleased with our stay as we were unexpectedly upgraded to a more superior room with access to a privilege lounge, for this we are very grateful. Thank you so much.
Very well organised hotel good at dealing with lots of one nighters.
Reasonable rooms and prices
Easy Check in, great room, great bar and great atmosphere
Really good. The view was amazing, and the food was outstanding.
150705 great location. covered connection fr gatwick airport. But a bit sterile. FO service has ample room for improvement.
On the plus side Staff were curteous. The toilet in our bathroom had not been cleaned though! When ordering room service I ordered a specific wine and another was delivered. This is understandable as wine supplies and availability change. The customer needs to be informed of availability prior to purchase though. Buffet breakfast was excellent and checout was effortless.
Requested a wakeup call and didn't get it. Reported it to staff at reception and didn't get an apology!!!
Firstly the staff were very pleasant and helpful, checking in was easy and the girls on the desk were lovely. The hotel was very clean, my room was very comfortable, it had everything I needed. The bathroom was well equipped and very clean. I would definitely stay here again and would have no hesitation in recommending the Sofitel to family and friends.
Overall a very enjoyable experience. Except we had booked wheel chair assistance on May 9th with your gentleman for my 91 year old friend. But on getting up and arriving at your front deck at 4.30am the next morning we was told that it HAD NOT BEEN BOOKED. We had to wait 20 minutes for the wheel chair assistance to arrive and when we got over to the airport customs it was so busy it took us nearly three quarters of an hour to get through. I must say that he gentleman on your desk early in the morning on May the 10th was very helpful. I would have given you 10 if it had not been for wheel chair assistance let down. Good job we managed to get our plane.
Couldn't fault the place, although car park was pretty full.
Ideal place to go day before travelling at Gatwick north.
Will definitely book it again
Lovely rooms, great food, very convenient if you need a stop over at Gatwick
Lovely hotel to stay in before your flight & is he food was good!
Car was well looked after even though it got moved from the parking space I originally parked it in when I got there it was nicely parked up in another space!
Stayed here again prior to flying out to Antigua as we were travelling from Cheshire and British Airways (the NATIONAL airline) no longer have a shuttle from Manchester to Gatwick. Upgraded to a Premium Room as this includes free drinks, nibbles and breakfast and was well worth it. A stunning hotel inside, great customer service and a fabulous room with amazing sunset views and a very comfortable bed. Would recommend.
The hotel is good, the rooms are nice, the bars are all very smart and the restaurant choice is good. So convenient for the north terminal too. However, the service was not great, our reservation for the Vanda restaurant was lost and we were made to feel rushed and hardly welcome at all. The prices are high, I would expect the service to match.
Always a comfortable stay. 20 minutes from leaving the room to having cleared security. This hotel has to be the most comfortable and convenient hotel for the North terminal. Some room's from 5th floor up have splendid views of the runway and aprons.
Even tho we only stayed for the night before we flew they could not do enough for us. Excellent.
A good stay. Very comfortable bed and good pillows. Disappointed with the room, I requested a runway view but this was very limited due to the floor we were situated on.
A little disappointed with the restaurants, the a La Carte was very limited with a set menu and oriental isn't our fist choice of dining. Had of we been offered the menu in the bar we would have take it, however this was not offered to us, we were told that dining was only in the two restaurants.
Great Experience...excellent positioned hotel with all necessary facilities for travellers
Good quality room, very clean, good bathroom. Good value (Inc parking). Can't believe the short walk internally across a bridge straight into check-in in the airport, all airports/hotels should be this good
professional staff, clean hotel, great location, good breakfast. Would stay again. Only challenge was the WiFi speed was mediocre
Very good all as always. Especially the two
most professional people Robert and Katerina!!!
Always a pleasure arriving at the Sofitel before a holiday, relaxing, comfortable and clean. As with all airport hotels the drinks are expensive but we count it in so it's all good. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and the staff are friendly. We always park and stay and the process is really simple, it's just depressing being the to pick the car up when we return! Will be back there again soon hopefully!
Excellent staff, restaurants and rooms. Clean and well maintained, and reasonably priced for the location and quality of accommodation.
the journey time from the north to the south terminals is only a few minutes so its not that bad but before it was brilliant. the hotel is still exactly what you expect from Sofitel. comfortable beds and standard facilities in the rooms. didn't have breakfast or dinner so cannot comment. staff were pleasant. internet good
A fine airport hotel with everything you need and the airport is right on your doorstep.
I booked the Brasserie at the time of booking, because though i knew it was expensive i also knew that it was good. On arrival and check in i was informed that the restaurant was under refurbishment and we could eat downstairs.
When we went to eat we were informed that it was to be a buffet though we could order a starter course; dessert was also a buffet.
While the actual buffet meal was alright, it was way overpriced and the service was minimal.
To then be charged a 12.5 percent service charge was ridiculous.
I mentioned this at checkout the next morning to be told that i could have refused to pay the service charge when the bill was presented but that puts both me, the customar, and the waiter in a very difficult position. In doing this you are not backing up your staff as you should.
You could have contacted me beforehand to advise me the Brasserie was closed which would have given me the opportunity to make alternative arrangements.
We were vastly overcharged for a dinner which though it was alright was NOT worth that sum.
We decided to book our stay to begin our holiday in style and we couldn t have ask for a better stay. Thank you.
Arrived tired. Great reception. Room brilliant. Food expensive but good. Always stay here.
A comfortable hotel within walking distance of the North Terminal at Gatwick Airport.
It was pleasant, as always. Very nice reception staff both on arrival and departure. Unfortunately our room key did not gain us promised access to the club room for breakfast.
Since discovering the Sofitel at Gatwick ahead of flying off the next day, its now become routine for a pre-flight night and a nice evening meal in the brasserie with the car being conveniently looked after for the duration. The convenient location and professionalism of all the staff is unsurpassed and just what you want to start your holiday. I'm sure its the same if you're on a business trip. Looking forward to the next time.
Hotel location and facilities excellent.
However we were woken by hotel phone in middle of night for no apparent reason not the best when you have an early flight.
Staff very appologetic said they would look into it and get back to me nothing as yet.
Slightly experience but couldn't fault the service the room was great and at four in the morning just a 5 minute walk to the north terminal departure lounge fantastic. Also parked the car there wonderful.
Left are a pain but it's very convenient, also even if you paid for parking its first come to get a space
Very good location though crossing to the airport terminal which is very near is taking your life in your hands as there is no obvious crossing point. Bathroom was a little small considering this is primarily an airport hotel and in holiday season with an early flight like we had, two of you trying to get ready at the same time was not easy. Room was fine, restaurant was fine though pricey for what it was but at least it was open until late. Reception was a bit chaotic and noisy but that was mainly caused by cancelled flights and there was nowhere else for people to go. The reception is a large atrium open space with bars and resturants off it, so it will never be quiet as such. Staff at reception were good, bar restaurant staff were a bit "flat" and not particularly attentive.
Perfect for the north terminal at Gatwick with free shuttle train to South terminal
We have stayed at this wonderful hotel a few times now and it is nothing but pure excellence. The rooms are great sizes. The beds are the most comfortable beds ever! The atmosphere in the bars and Vanda restaurant serves such lovely food. Just recently my parents stayed on the back of my recommendation for their 60th birthday prior to flying off to Jamaica. I sent an email, explained the situation and the amazing Katerina made my parents stay an unforgettable one with glasses of Prosecco on arrival, rose petals in the shape of a heart on the bed, along with chocolates. The Vanda restaurant also put on a performance with a unique desert, topped off with a happy birthday being sung to them. I can not recommend The Sofitel, LGW enough and to say Katerina is an absolute asset to the hotel is an understatement!
nice hotel and staff unfortunately the club lounge has gone downhill a lot since they made changes. more seats thats good but food and drinks poorer
Fantastic friendly staff
Could not do enough for you
Definitely recommend
Beds very comfortable and Roos a good size
Great access to terminal
Could not ask more
I always had the impression that Sofitel properties were modern luxury but after my one night stay here I ll have to reconsider the opinion. With an early flight one morning I wanted to stay as close to the North terminal as possible and with a short tunnel to the check-in area this hotel sounded ideal. Unfortunately though the tunnel was closed, instead having me to walk through the car park and across the road in very bad weather. There was a smart member of staff at the door but they didn t offer any assistance with luggage and I made my own way through the revolving door and up the escalator to the lobby area.
The vast lobby area is certainly impressive and makes for a really good first impression. Fortunately there were no queues at the reception desk and the check-in process was completed quickly. I was advised that the two main restaurants would need a reservation which was a shame considering my fairly late arrival but the open bar area was available and was busy.
My room was on the third floor, served by two lifts which took a little wait each time you needed to use them. Unfortunately the room was no where near as modern as I had imagined and although comfortable felt rather dated. The TV had a clunky and slow interface with limited UK channels and the air-conditioning was rather noisy. There was a small desk which the TV was on but the desk lamp didn t work. The floor to ceiling window was large overlooking the road and adjacent hotel and there was an armchair accompanying the large bed. The bed itself was comfortable with really nice pillows but frustratingly there were no electric sockets on either bedside table. The fact that there was only one socket on the desk compounded the poor device charging situation.
There were a couple of bottles of water in the mini fridge which was nice and the hot drink facilities were pretty standard, again relying on the single desk electric socket though. The lighting was ok, but the lack of any ceiling bulbs meant it could be a bit dim for some. What was further disappointing was the poor sound insulation, both from the corridor and adjacent rooms. Fortunately I didn t have any truly rowdy neighbours but I could clearly hear room service being delivered and knocking on doors.
The bathroom continued the dated feel but there was plenty of storage area around the sink, as well as two glasses being provided. The toiletries were small but nice with a really good scent. The shower was over the bath, complete with two useful storage shelves. However, despite running the water on maximum heat for fifteen minutes in the morning there was no hot water, rendering all the facilities useless. This really tainted my morning in the hotel and the towels weren t as soft as I d expect for a luxury hotel either.
Check out was quick given my early departure but it was a shame I wasn t greeted with any how was your stay? remarks from the staff, else I d have informed about the hot water situation. All the escalators were out of order as I made my way to the airport, so in the essence of time I carried my bag down the stairs instead, not wanting to wait once again for the slow lifts.
Overall I was left disappointed with my stay here and it certainly didn t justify the price point. On any future stays at Gatwick North I ll be choosing the more reasonable and satisfying hotel opposite.
Ok, food in urbane cafe and vanda was amazing, best we've had in a long time, room service was meh, got the order wrong, didn't offer to get it right.
No the 808 room
Because you need to open the hot water in the bathroom
In order to get the eating....
Good clean room. Perfect for when flying from Gatwick North terminal.
We stayed here a few months ago and found it perfect for our early morning flight. That time we dined away from the Sofitel at the nearby South Lodge Hotel. This time we tried the newly refurbished French restaurant on the ground floor and it was great. The food was excellent and really set off our evening as the first of our holiday rather than something to be endured for an early flight. The staff throughout the hotel are professional, efficient and courteous without fault. Our room was a good size, spotlessly clean and very quiet. I would have given a 10/10 rating but for the hiccup collecting our car from the hotel car park. A rude woman from some car hire company sharing the space had blocked us in and we had to wait in the pouring rain with our bags while the doorman sorted it out. Despite this, and I can't believe I'm saying this about an airport hotel, I'm actually looking forward to our next stay! PS This time we also checked-in with Easyjet using their Twilight Check-in service from 8pm the evening before the flight - seriously convenient as we just wheeled our bags across to the terminal via the connecting tunnel.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sofitel. We had the parking, meal and overnight stay package. We encountered high standards of professionalism. I would not consider staying anywhere else, when flying from Gatwick.
Room was perfect, location excellent and staff were fantastic.
Checking in could have been a little quicker but that is my only issue
Rooms are very dated, not up to regular Sofitel standards. No outlets by the bed, old mattress, small shower, stains on carpet, old bathroom. It's okay for 1 night, as the location is excellent/convenient. There are also good dining options if you can't make it into the city. Next time I need an overnight near Gatwick, I'll look at other options before booking the Sofitel.
Very posh hotel, and made a flight out the next day a much easier deal than it usually is. Room service was a bonus since we didn't feel like being terribly social.
They were even accommodating of us when we turned up a Month later than we had actually booked for . . . Doh! The front desk found us a room, confirmed parking for a week, and ensured we didn't suffer too much on the room deal due to the situation. Very embarrassed, but also very relieved. Would recommend based on service alone.
Check in was really slow. Tired after a flight and wanted nothing more than to get into my room. After freshening up came to the lounge all the restaurants were full with an average of one hour waiting time so had to make do with a chair in the corner of the lounge and eating was uncomfortable off a coffee table. Constantly had to attract waiters attention then realized there were only two, however I was only staying for one night with an early flight next day so not a big deal. Bed was clean; so was the bathroom, shame about no hair conditioner, shampoo yes but no conditioner. This is my third stay and usually for one night only. i would recommend the hotel as it is not a bad place to stay
Excellent as normal. Nice start to a break away.
From the moment you enter the hotel till the time you leave you feel important.
Here as a result of a delayed emirates flight ao not really a standard experience. The rooms were okay, clean comfortable but relatively basic in equipment / layout. The brasserie looked good, and the internal atrium layout gives the communal areas where the brasserie and reception are a nice open feel.
Luxury hotel perfect when catching an early flight.
I would like to thank Zuleka for her fantastic welcome and service in my recent stay. She was very professional, polite and assisted me greatly with my queries and explained exactly what I needed to do and how she would help myself and my partner.
The room was fantastic, brilliant view of the run way and my partner sat at the window sill watching the planes. Extremely clean and luxurious feel in every part of the hotel. Breakfast was amazing as well. I couldn't fault anything.
Thank you again to Zuleka for making our stay that extra bit special (I'm sorry if i've spelled the name wrong!)
Looks good just dropped my daughter off prior to flying out to the Dominican Republic the next day.
This is a large and busy luxury hotel. If you're prepared to pay the price you get a good experience , along with the convenience of being connected to Gatwick Airport by a walkway.
Obviously a good location but also a pleasant hotel
Check in was a nightmare, we were met by what I can only describe as an imbecile. Once checked in everything was amazing, beautiful room, super comfy bed, just what we needed pre-flight
First impressions good check in was smooth and friendly.
Room was of good standard and well equipped .
Booked a table at the hotel restaurant verdana at reception confirmed booking.
Went to the restaurant at the appropriate time the female member of staff refused,, to believe I had a table booked even though my name and room number were lain to see on the booking list.
I showed showed room key an identification .
She then tutted and led us to the worse table in the room the only reason I can think of for this behaviour was due to our race we are both black and were the only black people in the restaurant .
Stayed there to wait for our connection flight. Pretty nice hotel for an airport hotel. Spacious and comfy beds and good restaurants to dine in. Loved the express check out and that the hotel is close to the northern terminal at Gatwick Airport.
Sumptuous. Great service. Couldn't be any closer to the airport.
