No doubt this place has free admission, but this doesn't mean that the guards over there feel to be so proud and rude. I don't know why they are so rude! They must change their behavior if they want to attract more and more people to this museum! I felt very good inside and this place has some great arts through out the world, but the guard experience made my day a bad one!

Really nice museum. I liked the Korean and German exhibitions as these countries are not generally displayed much in other museums. A lot of Picasso s and other famous artists. Too bad the Japanese pavilion was closed for renovations. Also, the parking is expensive !

This place was huge and showcased so much incredible art from so many different legendary artists. Some of the employees were incredible and very friendly, while some were really uptight. I especially appreciated the Picasso room and just how many pieces were in it.

If your first visit was like mine, it was a little hard to make sense of all the different buildings on the site and the different functions they served, but everyone we spoke to was super friendly and helpful. Make sure you give yourself enough time to explore the area with all the different museums they have and the variety of stuff you can see for free just walking around the grounds.

I loved this museum! Before my visit, I had only heard of it because of the cool street lamps installation, but the whole museum deserves a few-hour visit! Among the things I truly loved was an area dedicated to modern poster design (as a designer myself it couldn't have been more fitting, even though I'm pretty sure most people would find it very interesting since posters are a very direct form of art). Also, I was delighted by the 3D effects pavilion, where you could actually try different methods of 3D lenses developed through the years. I never found anything like that in any other museum and I personally believe even kids would have a lot of fun! Also, I loved the huge collection of modern art, with lots of significant pieces from Lichtenstein, Picasso, and Braque!

A great place to visit on any occasion. Their collections are vast and have everything from Modern art to ancient Latin American art. LA county residents get in free after 3 which is nice. It also works if you go to a school in LA county but don't live there.

Great museum and an outstanding permanent collection from around the world and through different historical periods, a significant Japanese pavilion, right next to the Tar pits, the Page museum, three places to eat, free jazz concerts Fridays and Latin on Saturdays, new buildings offer contemporary art exhibits: Altogether a wonderful place to be this summer.

FREE Jazz performance!!!

This is the 23rd year they are organizing Jazz Nights. Tables & chairs are setup in the courtyard, next to Coffee & Milk shop.

People will come in the early afternoon, setup their picnic table and enjoy the food & wine.

The show starts at 6pm sharp for 2 hours. No better way to enjoy a beautiful evening with live Jazz music!!

Parking: $12 (since no admission fee for the show, come with your family or friends in one car, totally worth it!!)

I don't want to rate it badly because I actually liked the contemporary exhibition and especially the Chinese art by Qiu Ying was exceptional but charging the exact same amount when only half of the museum is open? Come on, I haven't seen that anywhere else!

Long-overdue review of this fantastic museum. We've been here countless times and it truly never disappointing. Love seeing everything they have to display. LACMA is a must while in LA

Yes the art shown here is some of the world's premiere modern and contemporary art in the US and the world. Sometimes so broadly appealing that one might call the appeal of the exhibitions as a collection of clap-along classics sure to please most visitors. What I want to review is the overall experience of being a visitor to this place. On my visit, the museum guards have been the most aggressive, rude and unfriendly, I dont know why they are so mean....

The museum is excellent. We had only two hours to explore. The Picasso paintings are wonderful. The Japanese building was closed. The European arts are excellent. The South America collections are good. The staff were friendly and helpful.

For some reason I developed an itch to visit museums and since I've wanted to visit the lamp posts at LACMA and the Berlin Wall Project, I figured I might as well check out as much of LACMA as I could.

Parking was such a challenge, not familiar with the area, not a resident, and not willing to pay for parking, my options were limited. Driving around several blocks, I found a spot about a block and a half away from the museum that allowed two hours' worth of parking. Since I was visiting the museum on the second Tuesday of the month, admission was free, so I was ok with the limited time. If I need to come back, it's no big deal, except for the parking. I checked in at the ticket booth, was given a map, and a sticker that granted me access to several exhibits.

My first stop was the Samurai exhibit. The hall which houses the Samurai displays is large and occupies several floors. Arms and armor, swords, spears, and even matchlock guns, were spread out on the walls, in cases, and on floor.

From there I stopped off at the cafe. It's a small cafeteria style space with tables and chairs where you grab a tray and walk through an assembly line of hot and cold food options, including beverages, and pay at the register.

Strolling over to the Ahmanson Building, I couldn't help to notice kids playing in what looked like spaghetti hanging from the sky. How cool is that, for the kids. Anyway, the Ahmanson Permanent exhibits offers displays of Art of the Pacific, European Art, German Expressionism, Assyrian Egyptian, Greek, and Roman Art, Islamic Art, Modern Art, South and Southeast Asian Art. Temporary exhibits include; Written Image, Art Deco textiles, Hassan Jajjaj: My Rock Experimental, vol 1, 2012, Morton Barlett, Close up and Personal: 18 Century Gold Boxes.

So much to see, especially for those who are into the type of art LACMA offers. I'm not this type of museum buff, however, I did find some of their exhibits interesting and glad I visited and my itch was temporarily satisfied.

The Japanese pavilion is beautiful and the street lights display is a great photo op. The giant stone display is another interesting one. For some reason, it almost makes me think of a zen garden.

There is parking, I was charged $ 16 for 3 hours. There is water and bathrooms in each building. I did not ask for an audio guide, I do not know if they charge them (there are places that give them free) I went in May 2019 and there were many exhibition areas that were closed by remodeling or inventory. Admission is $ 25 or $ 20 if you are a resident. There are works by Picasso, Diego Rivera (Mexico), Rufino Tamayo (Oaxaca, Mexico)
