Simply beautiful great for dates or just to go also there is a bar out front that lets you bring the drinks in the museum and the tar pits are right there.

Always has a beautiful display of art, especially the temporary exhibits!
Love, love, love the Friday nights jazz on the lawn!! It's relaxing, fun, and super chill. Great if you have kids and dogs as long as they're well behaved. They have a bar set up, you can bring your own chairs, blankets, and picnic out. Even if we can't see the musicians, it's just great ambiance. It gets crowded but you can always find a spot to set up your picnic.
Plan to spend some time here. There are numerous exhibit spaces and the tar pits are right there.
I got in free because 2 of the museums in the complex were already closed for a special event and the others were going to close in two hours. LACMA is one of the top 10 art museums I've been to and I've been to a lot of art museums.
Great day to spend a Saturday! Parking is a flat $10, and the museum is awesome. Always a special exhibit going on that costs a big more.
Way way way too expensive for what the college contains. The Hammer has a great collection and rotates in new exhibits throughout the year and somehow they've figured out how to remain free for all.
Great musuem with some awesome instillations. Compared to the Getty it may be less stunning but the collection of art is even greater. On busy days they do run out of parking so arrive early. Also look at some of the timed exhibits if you get there early enough to book one. If you're in Los Angeles you much go to LACMA.
Cool sculpture. Nice museum, best escape from the hot LA days!
If you enjoy all kinds of art, this is an excellent place to go... classic to contemporary, renaissance to abstract, etc... They have it... Exhibits for adults and art studios for kids too... They have something for all ages...
So cool!!! This place is awesome and has some cool exhibits.
Even if you aren't a big fan of art or you dont understand it. Still come to this museum. It's more than just paintings hanging on a wall. There is not just one form of art there is a broad spectrum and this place has a good majority of it.
I'm not a art enthusiast however i still very much enjoyed this museum. So many cool things to see.. didnt honestly think I would have fun but I did
A little bit of everything dispersed in several buildings. Nice sculptures in the gardens starting from the Calder fountain. Unique and beautiful the room dedicated to Giacometti sculptures and interesting the selection of Klee and Kandinsky.
Most of the exhibits were closed in prep for the move and construction. Gardens are free and worth a visit. Chinese art exhibit at the Broad was really great! Come back when the construction is done.
I love going here! There's so much to see. Their staff is way too serious...if they could just smile :)
I have visited a number of events when I had the possibility to meet amazing artists, writers, actors, film producers. This museum gives fantastic opportunities to the public. Events are very often free of charge.
If you are not interested in seeing the museum, you can stop the ticket and watch the outdoor exhibitions.
Beautiful museum, great exhibits, excellent palette of artists where themes, eras well represented.
went to see the urban lights exhibit. if you want to see the rain room you need to get tickets way in advance. look online for when they go on sale.
This has always been on my bucket list and my 5 1/2 year old son and I went and explored it. Definitely a tourist attraction, but worth it.
Beautiful space. Lovely jazz evening on Fridays in Summer.
Was fun to see the art, but I was sad most of the exhibits were closed. I wish they wouldn't charge as much when most of the exhibits are closed. Doesn't make the price of admission or parking worth going.
I would go back another time when ever is opened.
What a great place. I had never been here in my 30 years in Los Angeles. I love museums. I hope this one stays around for a bit. I have a feeling it will
Its a great museum. But as of Jan 9th (time of my most recent visit) they shut down their main museum due to construction of the new museum (for the next 4 years). They still have 2 buildings open to explore with modern contemporary art, but their classical art and other pieces are currently unavailable.
Some great art, world class. You can spend about 4 to 5 hours between all the buildings.
Excellent museum with an extensive selection of modern art including many Picassos. Neat special exhibits like the current Rain Room and Ganzfeld light room. The Rock, Japanese pavilion and tar pits also worth seeing.
Free jazz on Fridays in the summer is great. Pretty crowded though, get there early for a good grassy spot, and bring a picnic blanket!
Very nice
Has a lot of things to look at.
There parking lot is small and fills fast.
Take a guided tour.
Get the audio tour .
Both are fun .
Don't try two see it all.
See one or two of the buildings and go have lunch.
Love the jazz concerts. Superfun and always a wonderful crowd.
You can spend the entire morning to late evening here. So much to do! Worth every penny!
Excellent Museum, including its beautiful gardens with sculptures of great artists such as Calder and Rodin
Very disappointed. They are "modernizing" the appearance of the museum. While undergoing renovation, the exhibit of Renaissance paintings is in storage.
Huge collection with some real gems: The Picasso and Warhol pieces were my favorite.
Nice place. And nice photo opportunity for my guest.
I think this is a nice place and would recommend it.
One of the more fun museums around! People have really taken to social media with some of the interactive outdoor pieces - they're fun, and I wish they'd add more!
I love this Museum it is conveniently located and always has great exhibits. Do not miss the Guillermo del Toro exhibit it is so much fun and so exquisite. I love love loved it. Be sure to check out the rain room which requires a reservation and well worth the wait. This is a great place for tourists and locals as well. The events that are held on the weekends are educational fun and for the whole family
Love this part of L.A. multiple places to visit and site see in a small area. Spend the day!
They have a large displaying of abstract art, my favorite! Including Picasso. My girlfriend and I went on a free day. The place was packed, but surprisingly we got in quickly and really enjoyed ourselves.
Not crowded even on a Sunday afternoon. Parking gets full, but there are other public parking garages nearby
Great museum and they have days you can go free. Defintly worth checking out if your an Art lover.
The LACMA is an amazing dose of inspiration and culture. It is a great location to experience varying exhibitions, as well as screenings, events, performances and more. I would highly recommend getting a membership if you are planning on making multiple trips within a year.
Doesn t have lots of inside. Not attractive exhibitions. Not worth the time and money to go in.
Kids love coming here just to walk around & walk under the big rock. The kids are into art & were happy to check out the different displays etc. Was going to check out the tar pits but the prices were whoa. Skipped that unfortunately but they had rolling down hill as usual lol
LACMA is the largest art museum in the western United States. It attracts nearly a million visitors annually. It holds more than 150,000 works spanning the history of art from ancient times to the present. In addition to art exhibits, the museum features film and concert series.
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art was established as a museum in 1961. Prior to this, LACMA was part of the Los Angeles Museum of History, Science and Art, founded in 1910 in Exposition Park near the University of Southern California. Howard F. Ahmanson, Sr., Anna Bing Arnold and Bart Lytton were the first principal patrons of the museum. Ahmanson made the lead donation of $2 million, convincing the museum board that sufficient funds could be raised to establish the new museum. In 1965 the museum moved to a new Wilshire Boulevard complex as an independent, art-focused institution, the largest new museum to be built in the United States after the National Gallery of Art.
It is extraordinary that in this wealthy metropolis, the main art collection is so insignificant. I m not talking about the current remodel, which was not needed. The building has been remodeled not that long ago. Incidentally, the contracted painters could not even cut the paint properly at the edges. The paint colors were more in keeping with a provincial museum in the Southern Trough. There are almost no masterpieces from any period. It is poorly presented, organized, and curated. Now, they are going to build an expensive monstrosity, instead of spending the money on acquisitions.
It's always a fun trip to LACMA. They have something for everybody. From classic to modern. Eastern to western. It's a must if you live in the area.
Amazing place to visit. I love American museums that have the space for the plethora of rare artworks and at the same time not feel so cramped.
One of my favourite museums! We went for the Guillermo Del Toro "At Home with Monsters" Exhibit on a member preview night. Other great exhibits include Matisse paintings, Degas sculptures, and of course, the levitating mass that happens to be outside.
Very cool museum to come to if you have a day in LA.
There is a huge and very diverse collection within these walls. It was so large my friend and I decided to visit twice while on vacation in LA. Anyone who enjoys seeing art from ancient civilizations all the way up to currently active artists can find something here that will pique their interest.
Free music concerts on Friday nights are a blast. Great atmosphere
Didn't understand the art, but there is a couple of interesting exhibits available to see.
LACMA is a growing expanding place. They offer music, movies, lectures, art classes, all in addition to many fascinating art exhibits. The new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will be opening late 2020 and will add another dimension to the Southern California community.
