LACMA is a sprawling museum comprised of several different buildings and outdoor exhibits and spaces. The exhibits are fantastic, with buildings dedicated to specific styles and ears. Awesome. Looking for a drink and food? LACMA has you covered. Looking to have your kids enjoy art? Check out their kids program they have. There are multiple ticket locations, and the staff here are great! You can visit LACMA many times before feeling like you seen most of it!

Pro tip - you MUST experience the LACMA elevator. Don't know what it is? Then you need to check it out!

They have art from several cultures, I got to see the Asian cultures, but the Islamic was closed, in addition to other art sections. There is a park, a car museum nearby. I'd recommend going to all these 3 places.

Great permanent collection and brilliant at choosing visiting exhibits. Only drawback is that they often charge extra for their special exhibits and these add on tickets can run out fast. Planning ahead is a must if there's a particular show you want to see.

It looks decent from the outside but the inside is a different story. It's like a time warp to the 70's, the elevators are death traps, half the buildings are closed to the public, none of them are air conditioned and the minimum amount of artwork is displayed to be considered a museum. Do yourself a favor and head to the Getty Center. You'll save $20 bucks and experience a world-class museum.

Very interesting place to visit. What people do not know about this place is that if you pay really closed attention to the all the light post, they are different and this is because each and everyone of them represent the different light poles that have been installed through the Los Angeles area.

LACMA is more than a museum, it is a campus. The food onsite is incredible, the buildings in and of themselves are thrilling to experience and the art curation is vast and on point. The space is easily digestible so a quick trip is possible but allow for at least an hour and if you have 5 hours to kill, LACMA has you for that too. Beautiful outdoor seating areas and clean facilities. Impressed!

I like the apartment drawing from Do Ho Suh at Resnick Pavilion. Ten years ago, I saw some still life with food by Luis Melendez at Ahmanson Building, now closed for construction, make room for the new David Geffen galleries.

This place is incredible. Lots to look at. There's a room of Picasso paintings, original Warhol's, lots of interesting stuff. There were a few areas closed when we were there but still lots to see.

I went to the Bauhaus exhibit. I was a little disappointed with the size of the exhibit although it was very well done. My only problem was getting transportation (Uber and taxi) from the entrance I was at.

LACMA is the largest art museum in the western United States. It attracts nearly a million visitors annually. It holds more than 150,000 works spanning the history of art from ancient times to the present. In addition to art exhibits, the museum features film and concert series.

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art was established as a museum in 1961. Prior to this, LACMA was part of the Los Angeles Museum of History, Science and Art, founded in 1910 in Exposition Park near the University of Southern California. Howard F. Ahmanson, Sr., Anna Bing Arnold and Bart Lytton were the first principal patrons of the museum. Ahmanson made the lead donation of $2 million, convincing the museum board that sufficient funds could be raised to establish the new museum. In 1965 the museum moved to a new Wilshire Boulevard complex as an independent, art-focused institution, the largest new museum to be built in the United States after the National Gallery of Art.

Went just for the lights in front. A bit disappointing compared to the famous pics I found online. We drove 30 min around for a free parking spot and had to walk 20 min. A good park next to it, with a free admission temporal installation that was better than the actual lights.

Wonderful museum. Of course the touristy lamps always get attention. I recommend you also go up to the viewing deck, which gives some awesome views of the city. Also the salsa events in the summer are a nice cultural experience

I never got to the museum. I just stayed in the Urban Lights sculpture area. Very popular place for tourists and great for photos.
To take the pictures on the posts, there is no need to pay. Created in 2008, it consists of a series of poles and street lamps restored from the 1920s and 1930s. During the night, they all light up!

Their children's program is outstanding. Check it out first (the kid's museum is free to enter, but the whole museum is not) so that you can sign your little one up for their youth program. They get free admission and the admission for one adult until they are 17 years old!

It was a bit disappointing to pay full admission while so much of the museum was closed. However, the art that was open was truly stunning. I particularly enjoyed Metropolis II by Chris Burden and Richard Serra's Band at the BCAM.

Fantastic place to view work of arts..you will need the entire day or two to see everything they gave to offer. Admission price is fair but can be had for free if you have kids through their NextGen program ( which allow free admission for children and an accompanying adult). MOCA facility is attached to a park and active tar pits with great outdoor places for kids to run around and let out energy if they are bored of the sculptures and paintings.

The main cafe provide many healthy options with lunch special at reasonable prices.

LACMA is an excellent place to visit for just about anyone and everyone.

I have been a member of LACMA since I was in the 8th grade and one of their biggest perks is offering free membership to children until they turn 17. So for parents, this is a great option to really expose your children to such a wide variety of art.

Parking is $12 everyday until 7pm, where parking is free. If you don't plan on staying for more than 2 hours there is metered parking in the back but it is relatively difficult to find any available spaces during peak hours.

Urban lights is the most popular piece here so if you're coming to take pictures make sure to plan ahead as it gets very packed and will be harder to take pictures without people in the background.

About LACMA

LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) is a world-renowned art museum located in Los Angeles, California. It is the largest art museum in the western United States and attracts visitors from all over the world. The museum's mission is to inspire creativity and dialogue by connecting people with cultures from ancient times to the present.

The history of LACMA dates back to 1910 when a group of civic leaders formed the Los Angeles Museum Association. The association was dedicated to establishing a museum that would showcase art and culture from around the world. Over time, this vision became a reality as LACMA grew into one of the most important cultural institutions in Southern California.

Today, LACMA's collection includes more than 150,000 works of art spanning thousands of years. Visitors can explore everything from ancient Egyptian artifacts to contemporary paintings and sculptures. Some of the most popular exhibits include works by Pablo Picasso, Diego Rivera, and Frida Kahlo.

In addition to its permanent collection, LACMA also hosts numerous temporary exhibitions throughout the year. These exhibitions feature works by both established artists and up-and-coming talents from around the world.

One thing that sets LACMA apart from other museums is its commitment to engaging with visitors on a deeper level. The museum offers a wide range of educational programs for people of all ages, including lectures, workshops, and tours led by knowledgeable guides.

Another unique aspect of LACMA is its location in Los Angeles' Miracle Mile neighborhood. This vibrant area is home to numerous other cultural institutions such as The Petersen Automotive Museum and The La Brea Tar Pits & Museum.

Overall, if you're looking for an inspiring cultural experience in Southern California then look no further than LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum Of Art). With its vast collection spanning thousands of years combined with innovative programming designed for visitors young and old alike - it truly has something for everyone!
