This building (or part of it) was a boys school and college 150 years ago, so it has a history, and it is elegant and has "character" that is not found in newer buildings, and I love that. I loved the balconies with chairs and good views. The location on the canal that is called the "RiverWalk" can't be beat, and you can eat outside at tables right next to the water and watch the tourist boats go by. Th staff at this hotel can't be beat! The air conditioning was great on hot, humid days, and the room was so comfortable I would have loved to stay for a month!

My wife and I stayed here three nights for our 27th wedding anniversary. It was a great location and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only slight negative was that the pillows were too soft. The mattress was great though. Staff were always friendly and made us feel welcome.

Our stay was great!!!!
We were looking for a quick one night stay along the River Walk. While dining and taking in the moment of the Riverboats passing. We found the LA Mansion right in front of us.
The staff were friendly, and helpful. Clean rooms fresh towels, very comfortable bed. Valet parking only for Hotel, or self parking nearby.
We enjoyed our stay!!!!

so glad we decided to stay here for a riverwalk vacation! the hotel is huge and historic, so it's been fun walking around the halls to check out the style. rooms are clean, beds are comfy, everything you'd want in a hotel. location is perfect for the riverwalk. you can literally step out of the hotel and into the action. friendly staff, been just swell here.

This was my best hotel experience in my life. Just stop out from the hotel right into River Walk. Elegant hotel, highly recommended. Car parking is across on the street in a city parking garage for $10/day.

Had a great weekend break from work in Houston on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Superb atmospheric historical hotel with all the Omni comforts. Location could not be better right on the Riverwalk. Valet parking is provided. Great recognition also of the Omni frequent sleeper here. Cannot recommend more.

The hotel has a lot of history and it's located right next to the Room walk. The hotel is very close to the Majestic theater the Alamo and restaurants. The staffers always willing to help you and you're very close to the airport when you're heading back home. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Great hotel in a great location. Every staff member that we interacted with left me with a smile on my face. Located right on the river walk, but easily accessible because it is not on one of the main roads where everyone else is trying to drive. Great history in this location, with a great bar to relax and have a drink if you need a break from the Texas heat.

I stayed in this hotel the week of spring break March 12 - 15th 2013. For the price I paid, I don't think so! The valet was nice, but lost my card number and my car. The front desk lady was snotty. When I got to my room I couldn't tell from the complimentary water and $6.00 bottle water. So I didn't touch the water. The balcony had a giant palm tree in front. The only view I had was traffic and if you stick your head out far enough you could see the stretch of very small part of the river. The beds are like equal to La Quinta and old pillow tops yellow mattresses. Talk about Courtyard Marriott down the street with balonies, are much much better. Oh need I remind you of the lose wire in the pool? Kids swimming around it? The restaurant downstairs, the only nice thing, staff and all (of the restaurant). For the money worth, old beds, small rooms, cable with channels with nothing but commercials. No HBO, no Movie Channels, unless you pay extra. Only nice about this hotel is the location.

This hotel is pretty from the outside, but you re pretty much just staying here for location because it was the least nice Omni hotel I ve been to. Constant problems with our keys working, TV service was hit or miss, and the second night we had a yippy dog next door that barked whenever anyone moved about the room or coughed. You can t log into Netflix Bc they don t even have smart tvs, so your only choice for movies is to pay $20 for their on demand. It s layout is choppy and narrow and the halls are dark and dreary. It s expensive for a tiny tiny room with no fridge for drinks or medicines (only a minibar), no microwave and the only shopette they have was closed by 5 on a Saturday, Everything from valet to a snickers bar was outrageously expensive. I ve been to much nicer hotels & resorts with much better amenities that cost equal or less. I was really disappointed because I had always wanted to stay there, but needless to say we will not be back.

I recently stay for a week with my company. In our business we travel a lot and Delta has sent my bag off. The entire staff from the front desk to Jenny the conceriege took such exceptional care of my needs it was remarkable. They took the time when my luggage finally arrived to personally deliver it. Above and beyond. We had a few other needs during our stay and when requested were handled right away. Exceptional service and great experience. Thank Jenny and the entire staff!

I booked the valet and breakfast package at the hotel. I made sure to call ahead of time to make sure what type of breakfast it was. I called hotel and a young lady said they have a buffet which was included in the package. I asked what time did it start. She stated make sure you book it by 11. I said ok then she said let me transfer your to make sure it is included. A gentleman then answered and I asked what time did the buffet start since I got the package. He said that is called brunch and make sure to make a reservation. I said thanks and hung up. We are not from the area and I was making an itinerary for our trip then when I went to check out, I was told that the buffet was not included in the package. I did not understand how they had more than one employee tell me the wrong information. Then when I asked to speak to manager, he was not very nice. He did not apologize. He treated me like it was my fault. He said his employees know better than that. I guess I LIED. ..horrible manager. More things happened but It is just too much to type.

As a long time Omni fan, I've been dying to stay at La Mansion for ages and got the chance this weekend for our wedding anniversary. The building itself is a historic gem on the Riverwalk and the Omni has a done a great job of providing modern amenities while letting the building's history shine through.
The ambassador suites are spacious, comfortable, homely and modern - our's had a private balcony and additionally an enormous 50-foot shared balcony. The bathroom included a shower and jacuzzi and the beds are the extremely comfortable sleep-inducing mattresses you find at every Omni.
The facilities are very good: there's a small but pleasant pool on the ground floor, a first class restaurant in Las Canarias and a bar tucked away at the back of the hotel. The fitness facilities are provided by Mokara across the road and it's probably fair to say it's the nicest hotel gym in the city.
The service is the stand-out reason to stay at any Omni and La Mansion does not disappoint. Everyone here is extraordinarily helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The staff went out of their way to make our wedding anniversary as memorable as possible and for that we're truly thankful. Overall it was a fantastic experience and I can't wait to stay here again.
P.S. Don't forget to join the free Select Guest program for a whole range of extra benefits (free Internet, morning drinks, shirt pressing, etc.)

I only gave a second star for the location. Otherwise the room was pretty bad. Beds are set up on plywood, rooms smell like mold and mildew and there are knats flying all of the place incuding the room.

Some notes, the room showed some age and a lot of dust by the far beams and when the curtain was opened around the doors to the balcony. Which was a little gross. Overall it was fine, and the room served its purpose. Until the last night. My room was very close to a ballroom on the 5th floor. The staff could have reserved those rooms for members of the wedding, rather than place someone not involved and was staying several nights prior. I was unable to sleep until after 11pm do to the very loud noises. I spoke to the night manager who was apologetic and discounted my last night. However, compensation was not the point in my complaint. It should not have occurred in the first place and could have been avoided. I could have made reservations at several other hotels and not had an issue. My in-laws who were on the trip stayed at the Best Western and seemed to have less complaints and no issues sleeping. I chose the La Mansion due to its proximity to the river walk and that it was the Omni brand. My experience was unfortunate and just bad luck I guess but, again it could have been avoided.

Everything about this hotel is amazing! So far this has been the best customer service. So much generosity from staff it made my moody day from driving to an awesome experience. You have access to so many restaurants and the boat rides right behind. Definitely will be returning for our next vacation.

Not really what I expected from an Omni property. The room smelled of "oldness" and dampness. The carpets in the room and hallway were in desperate need of cleaning or replacement. Stayed here for work event but otherwise I wouldn't have.

Its hot hot hot. In the hall way and in the elevators. Did I mention its hot. The rooms are hot. Its muggy and hot in San Antonio. No air in the hallways or elevators. Do not bring people with heart issues or seniors. They will die of heat stroke in this hotel. Bring fans. Bring lots of money it is a expensive hotel. Bring sneakers you are 15 minutes from anything. If I could give half a star I would. Drink water cause your gonna be hot. It is a beautiful hotel but it is old. Its big. Getting to your room you need a map. I felt like a mouse in a maze some days and I was sober. Very confusing trying to find the room and take the correct elevator. Bring bread crumbs to find your room. Its also very expensive. So I can see I would rather spend my money on something a little more updated, with air condition, not dying trying to find my room and a restaurant that gives better portions. Don't get the shrimp salad. Four shrimp. Must be a shrimp shortage. If you need internet or want to facebook don't do it. WIFI stinks. Thank gosh I love yoga. Had to do standing tree pose to send out a text. If you want to work or play on your phone you need to do it in the lobby. Best Wifi in the lobby. Despite the above the staff are lovely and nice. Valet is a must and worth the price.

Historic older hotel on San Antonio's famed river walk downtown has been home to Las Canarias Restaurant and is a great locale for dinner before and after theatre. Attentive table service, a robust wine list with by the glass or bottle available. The Stags Leap Chard 'Karia' we had was a crisp medium bodied accompaniment with our meals. We enjoyed excellent crisp salads for starters, gnocchi, fish, and succulent pork shoulder for entrees and finished with a blackberry confection, velvety ice creams and coffee. Complementary valet parking is offered to diners at the hotel's entrance on college street.

The room I got viewing the river walk was very nice. There were a few negative experiences though. The first was that the Wifi signal was very slow and unstable, making it impossible to work from the hotel room. The second was me trying to exchange the wine bottle I received. I don t drink so I called and asked if I could trade it for orange juice and sparkling water. After the call was made, a lady showed up with water, ice and a welcome card. I gave her the wine because I didn t want it to go to waste. Then a guy showed up with sparkling water and oranges (not orange juice), and was upset with me that I gave the previous lady the wine and not him. I was just trying to do the right thing and didn t appreciate him giving me grief about it.

The location is great, the staff is great and the atmosphere is great. The only thing that bothered me was my room did not have much lighting. Being in a room right next to the pool area, I was unable to open my blinds for natural lighting; as people by the pool area would be able to see inside my room. Please be mindful that you will need to pay for parking at a day rate of $30-$40. The food is tastey.
