We were looking forward to a great experience for ...

We were looking forward to a great experience for our Valentine's Day outing with our friends from Houston but it ended up having marginal food at best. We had a pre-fixed menu at $85 pp, excluding wine!! The meal for just two of us was $240 all toll. The steaks had to be sent back. The other entree's were marginal and not at all what you would expect from a 4/5? Diamond rated restaurant. They returned the steaks with average quality. Our comments were - " Better steaks are at Longhorn for a quarter the price."
In fairness I called the next day to discuss the quality of food and other things that were unacceptable for this supposed "quality of place"- We were happy to report that our server was excellent... The interest was to let them know since they rely so heavily (supposedly) on their high standards.
The manager offered four breakfast meals after much discussion and when I explained this was not helpful bc we were not guests at the hotel and the offer wouldn't be used, he told me he would have to speak to the chef. This response was very confusing. I was promised to get a call back by the manager. This was February 15 (2016). Today is March 27th (2016) and I have yet to hear from anyone by phone or in writing.
We will not return to this restaurant and we often have the opportunity to share our experience with our visiting business clientele and point them another direction. Sad really. Has potential.
Tired of all the marginal food and exorbitant pricing restaurants are getting away with. I am not one to post comments but this experience has pushed me into being kindly vocal especially with the value for dollar being offered now in many SA restaurants.

Great experience..we spent our 30th anniversary here..Customer service was excellent!..the view from our room was spectacular!!..the staff knew it was our anniversary and when we came back from dinner we had a cold bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us with a nice card that the staff had all signed..the only thing I have to say that would be nice is that they provide a safe in the room and FREE wifi...for $325.00 that should have been included.. but over all it was great..Thank you again Omni!!

This centrally located hotel is, in my opinion, the best in the area. We have stayed at others over the years, and Omni soars above the rest in comfort, service and ambience. The staff executes with a subtle sense of flair, and are very professional. We were made to feel welcome, and were well attended to.

Exceptional service starting with Omar in e valet parking and luggage handling area to the front desk on to the room staff and the lovely breakfasts at Las Canarias it couldn t have been any better. Even with construction which we didn t hear at all the place was absolutely perfect and close to most everything we wanted to visit and a quick drive in and out to anyplace else. Will be back more times!

Classic expensive hotel restaurant. About 8 tables on the Riverwalk. The rest are inside. Food only in outside seats. It is trying to be a steakhouse but misses the mark. Yes everything is all carte. Which means it is expensive. Very salty food. Beer is only industrial beer (lonestar is the only local). Service was fine. Location is good. But price of steakhouse without the quality... You're paying for tourism

Excellent service. I have been to Omni before, but this is my first time staying here. It goes without saying that their service was impeccable. From valet, to front desk, and other staff around the place. Good service. Rooms were super clean, although the vintage appearance comes with creeking noise etc. Was expecting a bigger room, but size was satisfactory. Will be staying here again if I go back to San Antonio.

From the front desk staff to our awesome river-balcony room to the incredible meal we experienced in the hotels dining room, this property is top notch! Especially if you enjoy a historic property such as this one!

Room was spacious and clean. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Great location. Only reason giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the dinner buffet. It was delicious and had attentive staff, but it was too expensive for what was offered.

Awesome historic building turned 4 diamond hotel. All of the staff are great, from Arturio and Mark (managers) to Angelica the bartender and everyone you meet throughout the stay. The rooms are phenomenal for the price. We stayed in an Ambassador room, King bed w/ balcony and river view and a fresh pot of good coffee delivered to your room at whatever time you like. Highly recommend this hotel and we will stay here again.

It was a girls weekend & we splurged and I have to say this hotel was worth every penny!!
Ordered room service for breakfast it was the best eggs benedict and huevos rancheros I ever had. Staff was great!!! room was good and cold. Our room face the Riverwalk 4th floor we had a private balcony & we couldn't hear any of the Riverwalk noise when we had the door shut. We truly enjoyed it and will definitely stay here the next time

It's an older building, so the walls are thin. Even on the 7th floor, a live DJ was blaring music on the street that I could still hear clearly. Falling asleep to Katy Perry wasn't as big of a deal as the toilet that wouldn't flush, and the overpriced food comes in a large plate to hide the small serving size. The serving staff member wasn't outwardly warming -- he was stern and straight to the point (not a bad characteristic... when you aren't in food service). There is a Peet's Coffee stand in a hidden nook, so that was nice :) The proximity to the Riverwalk is also a great perk. Not a bad place to stay, but you can do better with what you're paying.

The hotel was very nice. The pool was perfect for children and families. It has a very shallow end (3 feet) which makes it great for smaller children who can t swim very well. The staff were helpful and kind. We have a food allergy and the restaurant went above and beyond to accommodate us. It is centrally located in downtown. The food was delicious. They provide towels at the pool which is a plus. They show a movie on Saturday nights in the summer at the pool...a dive in movie they call it. Perfect hotel for kids and families.

Construction going on that no one informed us of. Had to move our room twice. Front desk tried, but moving from river front to street corner parking garage and hospital view was really disappointing.

Update to my review. Omni management read my concerns and called my cell. They have made some very nice concessions for a future stay. Although it was a disappointing stay, they have made us happy. Looking forward to seeing the place renovated. It really was a great location.

Don t go by the name. This Omni does not meet the standards of omni hotels elsewhere. The room we got was not river view and not sure if other rooms were any better but this one needed some serious renovation. Carpet was filthy. I was traveling with my infant and after few mins of crawling on the carpet, his legs and feet had black soot like dirt. Old torn out couches, leaky taps. The service is good and some servers were really nice. Oh another thing, no AC in elevators so be ready to sweat specially if its a busy and packed weekend like 4th of July and they don t replace the free water bottles every day. You will get just two for the entire length of your stay.

Was on a job recruiting trip. Made a great impression of San Antonio. Riverwalk was great. Hotel and restaurant were awesome. Cell reception in rooms was awful due to the old construction. Charge for wifi. Overall great experience, seriously considering moving

Overall the visit was rather well. Great customer service. Valet employees really shined in that dept. The pool was clean as well as the area around it. Our room was nice. Very expensive snacks and they were ordinary not gourmet for the price. 5 dollars if you eat the little nutella snack pack with pretzel sticks. That was not enjoyable to see. We relocated the snack tray out of our view so we wouldn't try to eat any, if we became hungry over night. My family members, on the other hand, stayed in rooms adjacent to ours and they had not so good service. The rooms were not as ordered. 5 to a room should have better accommodations than 2 small full/queen sized beds and one room had blood stains found on the corner of the top sheet that was tucked under the bed. That was gross to hear about. The hotel did comp the Valet and probably other stuff because my family seemed "cooled off" by the time we checked out. I still give an overall 4 stars, and not less, because it really was a pleasant stay, minus the bumps and minor bruises, that were eventually corrected.

I stayed 2 nights for a friend's wedding. Staff was friendly the room was great. The wedding was amazing!! They took very good care of the bride and groom. One thing I would have liked would have been some shampoo, conditioner, and toothpaste. I was able to walk to Walgreens for needed items. Statbucks is around the corner. There is parking across the street for 10 a day if you don't want to pay 40 per night Valet at hotel.

Probably the most beautiful hotel I ve ever stayed in and the staff is absolutely amazing. Everyone, from valet to front door to desk to housekeeping to the restaurant greets you warmly and makes you feel as if they truly are glad you re there. I ve had a couple of bad experiences in the past with other luxury hotel chains when booking a particular room type and then getting switched out of it into something very disappointing when I finally arrive but La Mansion was true to their word. Book directly with the hotel if you can. It was SO easy. And the online check in and then check out experience is wonderful!! It saves so much time

One of our very favorite amenities was the fire pit in the pool area and they sell s mores kits in the lobby. It was SO fun! Definitely DO that!

We had a low room overlooking the Riverwalk and it was beautiful. We don t often return to a place once we ve experienced it but are already talking about going back. I loved it

The location is outstanding and the hotel is a cool historical place to stay. They overbooked and we got bumped on our first night, but the staff was very accommodating and helpful in making up for their mistake.

Everything was perfect for our stay here! While the hotel is a little dated, the amazing staff and amenities more than make up for it :) Our beautiful room was actually an updated one (I think they are in the process of some renovations) and was gorgeous! Beautiful bathroom and plush linens...so comfy! Marina checked us in and that was just the beginning of our interaction with the professional, friendly and knowledgeable staff. It reminds of why I like San Antonio so much, the amazing people. Lots of great amenities, beautiful pool, delicious room service and perfect location. Definitely will be back!

Staff was top notch, the court yards were fantastic and the proximity to the River walk is unbeatable. I have to take away one star for the quality of the rooms. They're very basic and poorly kept, which is not to be expected when staying at an Omni.

If you want a true riverwalk view, this is the place to be. Either here or the Omni right across from this one called "Mokara". La Mansion was everything I wanted it to be. Very fast service with the bellman and check-in. I was surprised to see complimentary horchata on saturday afternoon in the lobby.

Very clean and big room. Courteous staff. Nice location near riverwalk. The pool area was really nice. Restaurant has a really nice breakfast. Layout is a little confusing but plenty of signs to help. Bathroom are good size. TVs are decent sized and good channel selection. Courtyard area is very nice. Business center requires you to pay for internet and printing. Vet parking is overpriced so we parked in garage across the street for much cheaper. Overall I would stay there again.

The hotel is beautiful, historical old building which I enjoy. we reserved the deluxe double suite with double private balcony, a vanity, big bathroom, etc the air conditioner was not working properly so the first night was rather uncomfortable. Called front desk and the round us a different room. Room was very small and had a pool view which was actually a wall view with a view to the pool beside it. The front desk didn t want to accommodate this inconvenience saying this room was same price because of the pool view!! Which was a wall view:( This took about an hour or so out of our time to move our luggage to new room and talk to front desk. Our youngest son picked this hotel out of many for his 21st birthday celebration. He spent a ton for him and his wife with a king suite with a private balcony with river view. Anyway after an hr + of getting different room and talking to front desk they called me and said they would refund 75 per night which is exactly the price difference from our deluxe to the double. ( also the hotel hold $50 a day for any chargers you accrue like the mini bar or snacks in room ) so in total the hotel was holding over $300 on our debit card !!! Was not told this till check in. Then when we checked out we were charged $438 plus the $775 hold when checking in. Of course when we told them of the double charge with the $300 hold we were furious because they told us it could take up to 3 business days for our bank to release the funds and we were on the phone with our bank and it was the hotel the has a hold on money and wouldn t release it. Our bank forced a release from the hotel and put the funds in our account and told us it the hotel tried to force another hold to call and they would file a grievance. Although we had a wonderful time with our family it was a nightmare with this hotel.
