They charge $15 a day for internet service (1st day is "complimentary") and $26 a day for using the pool & pool towels. Really? I've stayed at hotels that charge $60 a night and the internet access is FREE and the pool is FREE. Isn't this supposed to be a 5-star resort? I've stayed in 5-star hotels and have never experienced this kind of poor treatment. The resort is beautiful. However, the guy at the front desk did not smile, acted like we were an inconvenience and didn't respond pleasantly - ok, he was rude. We asked him if there was a bellman to take our bags. "Oh, if you want a bellman you can walk around to their station and ask if they can take your bags to your room. Otherwise, you can drive around yourself and take them up to your own room." My friend had stayed there previously and commented that she had never been treated so rudely. They put us in different buildings even though our reservation clearly said that we wanted 2 rooms very close to each other. When we asked about this, we were told that "we are full". We asked a guy at the valet station if he could help direct us in where to park our car, since the guy at the front desk said that we should self-park. He drove us over to a dimly lit parking lot. Keep in mind that we're in a rental car in the dark so we are already having problems figuring out the car. If you can't see where you're going, you'll have to hike up a small dirt hill in the dark with your luggage. So, after carrying my luggage up the stairs, I found the room. The spa was great, but don't eat the food there. We ordered shrimp and crab and every bite had shells in it. Oh, and don't expect chocolates on your pillow every night like other 5-star resorts. It happened the first night (they were already there when I entered the room), but every night thereafter I did not receive any chocolates. I have a friend who lives in San Diego and she said that all of the locals say not to bother going to La Costa - there are 2 other super nice hotels in the San Diego area that don't charge extra for internet or for the pool, and their spa is superb (just as good as La Costa) for a lot less money. So, save your money and go somewhere where they can actually want to treat you like a 5-star resort should. I was super disappointed for my first time visiting, and my friend, who has visited at least 3 other times, was extremely disappointed and said she would never go back again. How's that for the truth?

Beautiful rooms, beautiful location, and excellent service. The property is expertly maintained, and I was particularly impressed that housekeeping even folded clothes I'd left on a bench. The resort also catered several meals, all good. This place checks all the boxes for a high-end resort.

5 star amazing!! The staff was incredible! So friendly and helpful. We did not want to leave!! They have a daycare option and almost everything you need to enjoy your stay. Rooms are large and beautiful. The girls loved the water slides and especially our rides in the golf cart back and forth from our room to the pool. We will be back!!

I was there for a conference. Very glad I chose to stay elsewhere. Just not the style of place I prefer.

As for the conference, it was quite frustrating finding our meeting area. The walk from the parking lot was quite a trot as well.

Spent 1 week on corporate week with meetings and Entertainment last year.
The resort was amazing! The food was OK and the drinks were of high quality.
This is the perfect resort for large groups. There were 600 of us. There were famillies as well. Golf course is great too and there is a choice of pools.
Very relaxing and beautiful with lemon trees along the paths.

It s an huge expansive resort! Has all amenities and a great spa.. we went at the busy time of the year, service is immaculate. Very attentive staff, good rooms, kids activities and a small water park. Great marketplace shop open 24 hours with Pete s coffee. It was a great experience. Recommend for family vacations.

The pool was great and my kids had a blast on the waterslide and in the splash pad. Pool wait staff was friendly and came by often to check if we needed a refill on our drinks, or if we wanted to order some food.

Well I love how they have 3+ pools! Great for the large family. One with a slide! The bartender service is on point, and I absolutely love that they have Dippin Dots at marketplace. Overall this place is a great getaway.

WARNING! Mosquitoes infested!!
We are departing from Omni La Costa after a s****y experience with infested Mosquitoes. H at front desk actually informed us the that the guest rooms near the the ballroom were hit the hardest. And we are simply appalled by the fact that with mosquitos swarming around our rooms T their manager has only excuses and no viable options. I will be writing a letter to their management who has the balls to handle it. But they're out of control. I will write part 2 about our experience in detail since we are going home middle of the night after a ruined experience at Omni. Oh boy, they are dealing with a wrong person tonight! Be warned the compound is infested w Mosquitoes that you would not want to take your children or yourself.

Part2: 10/27am 8/19/2018

We got back home safe! I am so glad we checked out at 11pm bc this morning we see so many mosquito bites on us. Could not have afforded more hours there so we left fearing West Nile or Zika virus.
After returning home I find myself this morning to tell what is going on Omni La Costa. There's a massive Mosquito invasion at the resort but it is so out of control that the management is keeping it low key not to alarm the guests nor preparing guests w repellents. So against any playbook to ensure a comfortable stay for any guests staying at a resort.

My husband went to Gelson's just next door to Omni to buy some repellent but it was sold out bc so many Omni guests bought them. And so he swung over to Target to get some.
Next the resort is understaffed. Their check in time is 4pm and guest line to check in is so long and Omni had only 2 staff at front desk during high traffic registration.
After dinner we headed over to the front desk about Mosquitoes swarming around guests rooms, pools and the resort all around. It seemed as though the guest rooms near the Lobby was less invasive with Mosquitoes so we had asked for a room change. The front desk guy H informed us that the area our rooms were most infested which is by the ballroom. But because they were fully committed for the evening they couldn't move us to another room. So we asked for his Manager to step up but J was busy on a phone call and will get to us later. And H at front desk said his manager said we can cancel our reservation and refund us. But this is at 9 pm ish. So we said to have his manager contact us.
About an hour later, a manager called us but it wasn't J but T. She was the same but when I told her about Gelsons visit how all the repellent was sold out to Omni guests she then said there may be a room for us to transfer. But an hour ago they said they were fully committed. But by the time we packed and with our kids crying fearing more Mosquito bites, we called back to T said we would check out for a full refund. T then said it was close 11pm and Housekeeping just left so she can only refund us half. So ridiculous with the BS excuses so we left and said we will deal with their inconsistent messages that we needed to leave bc rather than trying to give us a comfortable stay it was ruined with their BS. I hope the city of Carlsbad inspects how bad it is with Mosquitos at the resort and their process for managing it. They must have swamps by the golf courses that these Mosquitoes are invading the resort and all humans in the area including guests and employees.
And here are some photos with multi Mosquito bites!! It s all over bodies and even face. We have slather anti itch cream bc it is so dang itchy esp middle of the night. We are so upset to have to go through this!!
Update: The City of Carlsbad got back to me and has acknowledged about the Mosquito issue at Omni La Costa. They are fully investigating so will let you know what they say!

Everything looked great at arrival, however I didn't expect not to have hot water 2 mornings in a row. Communication with guests in regards to fixing reported issues were non existent. The second night, fire alarm went on 2-3 times and yet again no communication was provided. The guests that were waiting outside the rooms just figured it was ok to go back as the alarm stopped. The next day front desk had no clue there was a fire alarm nor did the security. The excuse was that day and night security personnel are different therefore they are not aware of what goes on the other shift. Third morning 6am I woke up to the lawn mower noise right outside my window. Definitely not what I expected.

I only visited for a Christmas party. We were in the veranda room. Entertainment was great. Food was ok, small portions, not much variety (although that was probably what my company picked), but tasty.

I haven't visited since Omni started to manage the property, but we have been guests here on 4 seperate occasions, for business and pleasure. It is, by far my favorite place to stay near San Diego. My husband and I have come 3 times (not consecutive) for our anniversary and somehow many of the staff seem to remember us by name!! The resort is always well maintained. The rooms are clean and relaxing. The spa is a definite must see. The last time we visited our room was not to our standards. They quickly and kindly upgraded our room to a suite which was AMAZING. We are trying to make plans to revisit the area this year an of course plan to stay at La Costa. It is a wonderful place for families with children but romantic enough for couples as well. Always a pleasure.

We stayed here several years ago and came back in September 2020 sad to see the steep decline in quality of service & maintenance of facilities.

The beautiful resort has not been maintained and it s visible. Moldy jacuzzis, chipped paint, dusty rooms and spotted carpet. We found dirty socks in our room upon check in after a CDC compliant deep clean , the icebox had filthy black residue (threw out into tub), lightbulbs missing, curtain rods broken, etc etc

Literally became comedic to the point that we were locked into the bathroom for an hour when the door/lock broke and the bathroom door had to be kicked in SWAT-style by staff.

No apologies from the staff, no acknowledgment, nothing.

Times are tough. Take your money elsewhere and spend at a smaller hotel that values your business. This place needs to get bought and placed under new mgmt.

Extremely friendly staff that assisted in getting us checked in and to our room so we didn't miss any of the wedding festivities we were there to celebrate. Beautiful, large room with a gorgeous bathroom and balcony. Wish we had extended our stay to really take advantage! Beautiful venue for a wedding!

Spent 4 nights at the Omni La Costa and could have stayed longer. Customer service was top notch. Food and amenities were all that you could ask for and more. Great place to take the entire family on vacation! Our 3-year old still talks about the beach at the pool.

Had our company Christmas party here. The valet service was great. As for the wait staff, were they even there? At first they were great. They cleared the table in a timely manner and then they disappeared- we had to keep tracking them down for help. Now, the food. The saving grace were the vegetables- awesome!

Staff is the best. However the rooms could be little bit cleaner. Toilet paper soap and shampoo could be upgraded. When you are paying $500/night you want little bit nicer to that dollar store products. That being said, I would come back to stay here in a heart beat. Great place n great staff. Very accommodating n friendly.

We have been members at the Club at La Costa for about a year now. The facilities are excellent and they are constantly upgrading them. If you have children, it is perfect to entertain the kids at the pool or drop them off to be watched at Kidtopia while you get a drink or something to eat. If you are meeting with clients, it is impressive and a perfectly quiet and relaxed atmosphere with great food and service.

I was excited to stay here first time. The room had silverfish and a yucky wet spot on the carpet near the bed. They took us to another room and it had spiders! We wished we stayed down the road at Aviara Park Hyatt!
