We were here in the summer for a mountain bike race. The resort is lively with most of the facilities open. The views here are amazing.

Wide open space and great place to come skiing. Some great backcountry stuff for intermediate/advanced skiers and boarders.
It may seem expensive but it's worth the price of being able to ski a mountain that's not overly populated. A quality mountain at that, we will be back!
Amazing hill. Great in bounds hiking. Can get congested at the base gondola on weekends. Tons of close ski-in ski-out houses for rent.
Went downhill mountain biking and had tons of fun. Staff there were incredibly friendly and we're very interested in making sure you had a good time
Customer service from all staff was Excellent! All the lifties friendly and engaging...
Great on a powder day. Not as much variety as revelstoke or whistler.
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is an incredible ski hill for advanced riders. I would highly recommend it to anyone who can comfortably ski black and double black diamonds. If you can only ski Blue or Green runs I would not recommend coming here, you would simply have a bad time. If you are an advanced rider however this place is incredible!! Almost everything is steep and I mean really steep! Plenty of chutes, cliffs and gullies! Powder for days! Hiking T1 and T2 are totally worth it! There were quite a few runs that had turned into mogul fields so it was a lot of work as a snowboarder. The bottom half of the mountain was groomed but no where near as fun as the top half! This place is amazing definitely come for a visit!!!
Dustin and Cole in the bike rental shop hooked me up! Cost me $220 for the mountainbiking experience of a lifetime. I'd never ridden before and did a half day rental of a sweet bike. Got in about 4 runs up the gondola. Didn't crash and had a blast. The trails and signs didn't seem to match up with what Strava was telling me. That could be improved but everything else was on point.
Oh yeahhhhh.....there are some realllly good bowls here!!
Absolutely beautiful. Take the gondola up. You will not regret it!
Its a bit of a hike to get here but if you like challenging terrain its totally worth it. It luves up to the nick name 'Kicks your Ass'. There is not a lot of beginner terrain so maybe not the best for kids or learners. Not a huge amount of nightlife either but your butt should be tired.
Visited during september. Very cozy area and stayed in a luxurious wooden house with hot tub.
Alittle lost coming here, some signs or info guide for new / rookie snowboarders. Beautiful location.
This is an ski mountain that has unique terrain attributed to its drop-in from the top of the mountain. We went late Feb and the snow was so-so; some rocks still apparent. Groomers were great on the lower side of the mountain. The staff here were friendly and helpful, especially the chair lift staff. We also did some hiking off Palliser Rd, though it was unmarked so we turned back after 2.5k. Overall a good experience here. I would recommend staying on the mountain.
Been going for years and it's still my favorite mountain by far.
Your web truly needs attention; events dont show as to what is happening; there are no hours of opeartion in the summer - similar to the answering machine.
Someone please pay attention.
had a great day service was awesome. popped 2 tires tho BRING YOUR REPAIR KITS
Had the best powder of my life here in Kicking Horse! Nice and long slopes but definitely a resort for more advanced skiers or boardes.
Great hill to challenge even the most advanced skier and boarders.
Best Goldola ride ever. Views in Winter are amazing. This isnt a place for novice skiing
Great ski hill, not recommended for beginners. The lines are a bit ridiculous and the chairs are too slow. Be prepared to wait a bit to get up to the top.
Room for four means 2 sleep on the couch and not even towels.
Came here during the summer because my husband wanted to rent a bike and do some downhill biking. I myself am not a cyclist, but I was sure I'd be able to find some hiking at the resort. Turns out, most of the trails are for cyclists only. I found what I thought would be some good hiking by the Nordic center, but the trails were all completely grown in. There really wasn't much else to do but bike. I drove into Golden, which was quaint but it's a very small town. The brewery was nice, and I did some exploring of Cedar Lake. My husband had a fantastic time biking so if that's what you're going for the summer, then you'll have a great time. Beyond that I'd look somewhere else.
Beautiful Mountain, a lot of chutes and trails but no terrain park
Amazing stay, little expensive but totally worth it. Mountain is right outside your door, skiing/snowboarding is amazing here. 10/10
Great little venue with a local vibe. Beer is really tasty and watch out for the abv... The taste makes you want more and more.
The restaurants need to be bigger. Tough place to get a meal around lunch but the food is exceptional.
A great view at the top of the mountain. Amazing up there.
Fantastic views of the rockies from the gondola and the grizzly bear refuge was great!
The gondola ride was a little pricey however the views were well worth it. We just got drinks since we just ate lunch but the food did tempter us with its smells.
This is one of the greatest skill hills in the BC/AB Rockies. Amazing terrain selection for all levels. When it snows there are few places that compare. Crowds disperse throughout the hill even if the line for the Gondola is long. One of the best views ever from the top of the mountain. Novice to expert, there is something for everyone here.
You like powder? Safe drops? Steep chutes into huge bowls? Natural half pipes?
Then don't come here - go to eg Mount Seymour in nearby Vancouver or so . Please stay away.
AMAZING skiers mountain! Impressive, intimidating at times, and yes , you will be challenged regardless of your level. And the landscape is UNBELIEVABLE.
The bad side, no general store, supermarket or liquor store in the village and the nearest ones are 14 km away(Golden).
Transport to Golden isn t really available so if you are not driving, hitch hiking is a good option.
The environment is super friendly and there are good options for kids and learners.
And yes, the snow is fantastic and I would indeed come back and recommend it to my friends and family!
This resort is awesome, giving you access to nice bowls with none to reasonable effort. 4 stars because the staff isn't as friendly as some other resorts around.
Truly a great experience here every time I went. If you like moguls and diamond runs then this is the place for you. There is also a lot of green and blue runs but seems like kicking horse has more black diamond runs than other ski resorts.
One of the best ski resorts in the Canadian rockies. Finding parking is near impossible on busy days though.
It is a beautiful resort in a gorgeous setting with amazing amenities on the hill. Access to the Nordic skiing area (Dawn Mountain) is a real bonus. I've been to the mountain in the past and am returning this year b/c I've booked things already but...likely won't be back. Here's why - it's a small but important detail. The webpage for the resort lists lots of things to do both on the mountain and in Golden...but here is the challenge...there is no shuttle servicing the mountain. If you get to Golden without wheels you are really stuck. When I emailed the mountain I was advised to 'check at my accommodation and try and get a lift up to the mountain with someone'. Really!
While Powderhounds gave Kicking Horse a top rating I notice that Kicking Horse didn't make it into the Best Overall category (which includes things like services) but Red Mountain in Rossland did make it into that category - and yes, Red Mountain has a free shuttle.
Out of most of the hills available in the Canadian Rockies, kicking horse definitely holds a special place.
Definitely one of the most thought out and strategically engineered sculpted hills, with well placed catwalks and chairs.
Ski conditions always seem to be favourable and the powder is always a treat. Great on site dinning options.
The gondola makes this hill far more enjoyable to ride up.
Did I mention kicking horse coffee? Make sure to get your day started right. Safe riding out there!
Awesome place to get a workout if you walking or running and has beautiful Siri some of the nicest homes I've seen in a long time
Great resort. Super people making the experience memorable and amazing powder.
One of my favorite resorts in Canada to ride downhill bikes!
The Mountain is amazing, very large and very open. The snow conditions are incredible.
Don't expect compensation for any inconvenience. even if dead mouse
found in hot tub, or broken tap with left water everywhere. Also be aware if with third party booking as it become there word against yours. added start only because had to to post.
Great experience with gondola ride and at the bear refuge.
Room was very nice. Water in the shower was not very hot though. The resort has great sightseeing opportunities such as the Grizzly bear refuge and the Eagles Eye restaurant. Definitely worth the money to check those out. When I booked it said there was laundry and hot tubs in the room but neither of these are true.
Great hill! I spent the winter skiing Fernie Alpine Resort (also 5 stars), and I really enjoyed the change. Kicking horse has great vertical. The gondala is fantastic as a place to warm up between runs.
A great place! Lots of snow and many activities to do! I would definitely go a second time.
Great mountain, lots of area so it doesn t get very busy.
If you are good at skiing, biking or snowboarding, the area is a dream. Half of the runs are double black. So Ar ..... bake pinch and have fun!
If for some reason you don't get to see Boo, they will give you a voucher for another visit. We went for an 11am tour, should have gone for 10am as it was hot out and 10am was the first tour so Boo was active and hungry. By 11 it was warm out and he was hard to find, we were given the voucher and came back for the 3pm tour on the same day and well.... We weren't disappointed! The chair lift up to Boo was great. We also went on the Gondola, and ate lunch at the Eagle Eye Restaurant before going back to the 3pm tour. The view from the mountain top was absolutely stunning! Really humbles a person who hasn't grown up next to them!
Excellent friendly staff who are happy to help. Gondola pass $48 for sightseeing at the peak and bear refuge. Although we did not see Boo the grizzly, we appreciate that the refuge staff explained all about grizzlies, Boo and his story. We had missed out on seeing him by 5 minutes. We would suggest trying to get the first chair of the day as he is apparently out and about early doors. The views at the summit were unbelievable. I will definitely be visiting for some steep skiing in the winter.
Best ski in a long long time - for experts only - absolutely loved the skiing
2 bedroom apartment was excellent (clean, comfortable, well equipped) although shared areas need refurbishing (carpets etc.)
Staff was the least friendly in our entire trip through the Canadian Rockies ski trip
Ski Rental shop was a low point: overpriced, tired equipment and some staff members border-line rude.
Black Diamond cafe is a must go place.
Great mountain for skiing. The gondola makes it so special (and makes cold days bearable). Everyone here provides good service, from lifties to hotel staff and servers.
Awesome ski hill during the winter. Equally awesome hiking in summer. I haven't downhill biked. Nor have I tried the via ferrata.
Good ski resort. People at Selkirk rental store are great! Ratings of trails were a little harder than I've seen at other resorts. Lift lines are non existent, even on the weekends!
The skiing was great. A little busy. Good skiing but it'd be nice to have a couple more chair lifts so that you don't always have to go back to the gondola.
I love skiing here in the winter. They have some amazing steep chute runs. Not the best place for beginners but they do have some areas for newer folks to the slopes. I would recommend going up the gondola if you are a green type skier. Blue skier should be fine but might find it a bit intimidating. Lots of great difficult runs to push your ability if that's what you are looking for. Really long longs top to bottom as well.
Cool venue for a wedding. You can get some spectacular photos. Picturesque even. And the skiing is pretty good too.
Fantastic mountain with great variety of slopes for all levels. Very scenic and beautiful resort. The main gondola takes you right to the very top so even no skiers can enjoy the views or meal, drink at the Eagle Eye restaurant.
Great resort. Not over crowded like the lower mainland resorts (Whistler, Cypress, etc), and we were there on family day weekend. Costco has a decent RCR discount for a 2 day pass. Hiking the in bounds back country was definitely worth it. I think that's what makes Kicking Horse a bit more unique than other resorts.
Long steep runs. This is what I like. Great hill for advanced skiers.
