Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Reviews

KHMR is a must do on my list for Golden. As a group of 8 that had never been to the Canadian Rockies, we were tempted to drive all the way to Banff for the Banff Gondola and views. Luckily, we chose the KHMR Gondola and I am SO glad we did. The views are outstanding, lunch at Eagle's Eye restaurant was a blast, and we were even able to fit in a hike while at the top. The Gondola and available packages are not well advertised on the KHMR website, but I highly recommend for those visiting Golden.

Difficult to find, no air conditioning, t.v didn't work. Very basic room with a luxury price tag. Very disappointed.

Nice stop. Had breakfast. Coffee was dynamite. A little pricy but worth it.

Always a great experience to come here, even if you don t ski! I love to do long walks and I wasn t disappointed in the trails around Cedar Lake.

Great restaurant at the top of the chair lift, the chairlift and site seeing at the top were great for our non skiing family members. Plenty of steep runs for the skiers.

The restaurant at the top of the gondola serves an interesting array of dishes, including truffle oil-infused French fries, which I ordered on a snowy late winter day in March. I like the food service at Kicking Horse, from the restaurant up above to the cafe down below. The riding is pretty good, although riders should check the grooming report. There s no terrain park, but in good conditions the mountain s a freerider s dream. Lots of steeps and bowls.

Great mountain for intermediate to expert level snowboarder or skier. I highly recommend staying at the resort, there is plenty of cabins or condo style housing accommodations at the base of the hill.

Visited KHMR on New Year's Eve. They had a great program of events including fire spinners and a parade of fire which was a train of skiers with torches making their way down the ski run to the gondola. It was cold outside but the crowd was big and it was a great time!

The runs are long and the powder great. Ski on ski off was super convenient

For my first big mountain ski location it was pretty awesome. If only mother nature had given us better snow

A more chilled and relaxed resort you couldn't find. All the staff are fantastically friendly as are the locals on the lifts and in the gondola. And the skiing is out of this world. Cannot wait to come back

Great ski hill, except on Powder days when the Gondola line is 45 min long. Awesome for mountain biking in the summer.

Hiking biking and trailblazing in the summer, premier skiing in the winter. Many support facilities with great service and people.

Steep mountain for steep skiing, great food at the Eagle Eye. Needs one more chair so you don't have to go all the way to the bottom on every run if you're not skiing the Crystal bowl.

Always a beautiful time in Kicking Horse. Stayed in the Aspen condos and LOVE having our own hottub and BBQ. Was very well stocked with utensils and what not to cook. Also visited the pubs there and had a great time at those! The one on the hill has huge portions of food and was super tasty.

World class, doesnt get much better than this. Skip the crowds of lake louise, and get some of the best resort terrain on the continent.
Bike park is rivaled only by Whistler, and constantly improving.

Great skiing, but some on mountain development of lifts would be nice to reduce the dependence on the gondola and suffering through the lower mountain on warm days. General store was lacking in men's t shirt sizes and styles

Opening day Dec 7, 2018 great powder, great terrain and could go from top to bottom which is awesome for this early in the season. Rocky in places but it is still early days as it needs a thicker base.

I can only say good things about this place. One of my favourite places to snowboard. Lots of vertical, some big open spaces. Located about 10-15 minutes from Golden BC.
Few spots to eat on the hill. Great facilities and amazing views from the top, when it s not clouded.
Not marked very well, but that didn t really cause any issues.

We loved our stay at the Kicking Horse River Lodge! The room was delightful and the location was great.

Yaaasssss! This place ! T1 & T2 are the place to be if you want the views and the adrenaline rush! Yes, it s a hike to get to them but believe me it s worth it! The Crystal Bowl is powder paradise! As a family this is our go to for playing around, falling, getting back up, smiling, and keeping going! This resort is definitely more of an intermediate to expert resort but they do have a few family trails that the whole crew can play around on and enjoy!

Great chalet at the Aspen with secluded lodges great for weekend getaways for both summer and winter seasons!

Owned by RCR. Excellent terrain for challenging any intermediate skier. Fantastic pow pow. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. Unfortunate then, that the skiing experience is severely let-down by RCR's lack of investment. On a Thursday the lengthy lines to board the gondola ate into precious skiing time - the Aussie loading team were well organised and efficient - but the lack of infrastructure created the bottle neck. Considering the cost of a full priced lift ticket here, RCR are grossly overcharging for the facilities that they are providing at this resort. Despite being busier, Sunshine village, Lake Louise and Nakiska are all better set-up to give you lots more time on your skis and far less time standing in line.

Would I ski here again? Not until RCR invest some lift ticket money in infrastructure to get people up the hill.

Nice view at the top of the mountain - you can see mountain scapes that go on into the distance. Great hike up the mountain to go with it.

Nice, hidden resort. Came during early May and the resort was very accommodating.

The resort is nice and close to the mountain very nice place to stay and the mountain is amazing

Great powder and cool runs unlike many other skiing hills

Absolutely amazing and worth it to be checked out. We went up with the gondola. Amazing view and you can go hiking or mountain biking as well. There is a beautiful Restaurant up there with excellent food and service. We also saw Boo the grizzly bear . I would recommend this place to everyone.

Lots of steep runs. Wasn't too busy in comparison to the larger hills I've been too. If you're on the experienced side of skiing/boarding this hill is definitely for you and pushing your skills a bit farther. Would definately come back to explore some more. Spent most of my time at T1 T2 and T3.

Event at the day lodge with a pig roast, only 6 picnic tables available, no garbage outside to throw away garbage... They have Kokanee advertising all over, yet don't sell Kokanee, only Bud and Bud light! Who runs such an end of year party? Lame.

Skiing for the day. Nice conditions, nice weather, big crowd

Fantastic mountain with good accommodations. I only gave 4/5 stars because their prices are very high but if you can get a deal its a great mountain.

Plenty of terrain. Another lift above the gondola to service that area would be a bonus.

Not for beginners, but if you like steep and deep, you're in heaven

Beautiful resort and lodge just a short drive north of the town of Golden. The gondola ride up to over 7400ft to reach Eagle's Eye mountain range is breathtaking. The trails over a great workout with amazing views. This is a must visit if you pass through or decide to stay for a night or two.

Nice Gondola ride to the top. Lovely walk down. Great mountain bike trails in the summer.

Nice place to practice snowboard or ski, I recommend it if you are interested in these sports.

One biiiiig gondola right up the middle. From there, go left or right and it's some fairly challenging terrain. Not a place for newbies or little ones, but I had fun. Like Terminator the best & since you gotta hike up a short distance to it, it's slow to get tracked out. Cool place with an authentic feel.

Well with the money. No expenses spared when they built these chalets. We stayed at the twelve peeks and I couldn't recommend it anymore if I tried. Super clean, comfortably furnished with plenty of space to sleep and host multiple families. We had 8 people (4 adults, 4 kids) and we all had our own space and then some. Close to all BC and Calgary have to offer. Spend the extra and stay right in the Rocky mountains.

Incredible experience more the enough runs for any level. One down side, no hill lighting so sundown will deside when the hill closes.

Friendly enough staff but man are they unorganized. Just needed to rent a helmet, walking through a maze to get where I need. No obvious signs for returns. At one point the rental employee decided to flirt with the resort employee that walked in behind me, right in front of me, kind of strange.

Nice skii resort, hills for all levels, and the food is decent, especially the chicken ranch wrap.

I loved the hill it was a little chalanging for my 10year old tho. Not a great hill for beginners. I will definitly be back tho

Fabulous place. Amazing ski hill. Mountain top restaurant. Top notch experience.

Via ferrata is the best of the best. Mountain biking is gnar and the nearby moonraker trails are great. Views from the top are stellar. Good food available around the resort.

Nice ski area, spectacular off-piste opportunities.

Best resort east of whistler, don't come for the greens!

Went skiing at the resort - the terrain is incredible and the snow was great. Lifties were all very friendly.

We got our a** kicked there!! Amazing resort, wish we had more snow during our visit. This resort is still young and needs a little more soul... it will come because the potential is there. I would have like a upper half mountain chair to the top on terminator side. You walk up 45 min, then ski down and you have to go all the way down back to gondola passing through moguls and stuff.

Very long lift line, though this was on a powder Saturday. I wish the mountain had more than one way to access the majority of the terrain.

We loved our stay at the palisser Lodge. It was very clean, roomy, TV in both living room and bedroom, the only things that were less stellar was no AC (but did not turn to be a problem) and really uncomfortable bed. Seriously go up the mountain to go see the Grizzly and the top of the mountain.

Opening day unreal experience,almost biblicle.People camping in line for first chair.No snow at the bottom yet nearing the top slowly but shurely,enjoying the gondola ride up it beautifully turns to a winter wonderland.Unreal teraine,yet be aware it is what it is referred to as,teraine all different sorts.Leave all real world worries behind and just ride and glide through knee deep white stuff.For the first runs of the season,WOW!POW

Staying right on the hill for the second time. Love it here. Snow is always great. Rooms are big for families and have full kitchens. Nice place to spend a weekend.

Nice enough place. I wouldn't recommend it for snowboarders or young kids. Maybe I went on a bad day.
