Epic hill for mountain biking. Challenging, though, anticipate a Green run to ride more like a Blue on other hills. Trail crew was out and does great work, really love riding here. Hope to be back before the season ends!

We were having a great day until the gondola shut down for half the day on January 7th. For those who haven't been yet, the gondola is the main access up to the top. So once it was shut down, people just left because the only other access is a 15 minute chair lift that gives you about 5 minutes of riding. We asked for a potential refund such as even a half day or something as we did technically lose half our day due to the gondola, which they responded "why should you get a refund over the last 30 people that had asked already". This was just a ridiculous response, kicking horse should have given half days or something, as if you think of it how many of those people would have returned the next day then and just paid for the other half of the day. Maybe not everyone would have, but you probably could have gotten some of them, and created somewhat loyal customers. Or they could have compensated us some how. I am from Calgary and spent almost $200 for that weekend, to ski half a day. I will not be coming back to this mountain.

Day Lodge is too small for the crowds. Need more lifts. $105 for 1 gondola and 2 slow speed quads is silly. 18 years since they have added any lifts. 18 years of price increases. Terrain is good when the snow is fresh though.

Visited when the summer activities were closed and winter hadn't started.
Very nice ski resort, very new and not overwhelmingly big.

Nothing was open when I was there, but the place has potential.

Via Ferrata was closed... we went to Banff instead.

Breathtaking. Hard to describe. Unforgettable. Exhilarating. There's a freaking grizzly bear there. I mean, what can I even say. Out your phone down and go already, you won't be young forever.

Love the ski resort, and a small community feel. However, we found over the holidays that the cafeteria gets crazy busy with absolutely no place to sit down during lunch, and not enough turn around. Also, wish there were more divided sections on the hill, as transitions between runs are not as clear. Fog didn't help either. But we still enjoyed our day!

When theres snow, this place is unbelievable. Technical steep terrain, paired with the lightest powdery snow, leaves you with a feeling that can only be described as bliss. Come here late December and January for the beat experience. :)

Great skiing area, lacks infrastructure
One gondola and 3 outdated chair lifts, one of these not working.
There seems to be only groomer active at the moment, the rest is not working lots of people commented on the lack of groomed runs. You still pay the same price for a lift ticket, no discount for lack of equipment available.

Didn't expect much but was super surprised. Visiting boo in the grissly enclosure was a massive bonus, the park ranger Nicole I could listen to for hours. Well worth the price of a measly gondola lift up to the enclosure. Would love to of spent longer there. The double black cafe had amazing pizza to finish off the tour.

This is a great resort. Skiing in the winter is very good and in the summer there is lift access mountain biking with numerous downhill trail options ranging from green to expert. There is a couple pubs at the bottom of the hill and a coffee shops so you can have a beer or coffee between laps! Say hi to Boo the grizzly bear in the summer months too!!!

Stayed at the Palliser Lodge for a week which provided for a very comfortable stay. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to get us what we needed. Our one bedroom suite was very spacious and clean with a great view. It had a well equipped kitchen stocked with everything we needed. Loved that there was washer/dryer and a dishwasher in the suite. Room clean up is done every four days and the housekeeping staff do a fantastic job at that. We didn't need to go to town that often as the property has some really nice restaurants and a general store that even sells wine and beer.

I'm comfortable on expert / black runs but not a huge fan of this mountain. Too many cat tracks and the whole lower half is either groomed or moguled. The funnest thing to do is spam stairway to heaven chair, do the really long and treacherous cat track then drop down to a short run through the trees back to the lift. You're stuck on 1 edge the whole time so your legs get sore fast.

I love this hill. It is a paradise for advanced skiers. Terrible for beginners, this is a good hill to push your ability. One warning - it's steep. Stairway to heaven is a must-try for intermediate and better skiers. The view is incredible. The gondola is fast, but if it breaks down then the lower lifts are too slow to be worthwhile for intermediate and better skiers. Lots of traverses that aren't a problem for skiers, but can be a struggle for snowboarders. On-hill accommodations are great.

An absolutely fantastic place to ski and snowboard. Accommodations right on the slopes, outstanding terrain on the mountains and incredibly beautiful surroundings. Perhaps Canada's best ski resort.

Awesome resort! I've boarded at most of the inland resorts in BC, and for in bounds boarding, Kicking Horse is the gnarliest by far. Really nice in the summer too, and crazy downhilling too. Easy access with the gondola, and just a beautiful place to be.

Steep skiing. Lots of expert terrain. Blue runs here would be considered to be blacks elsewhere. You need to take a 14KM access road up to the resort from the town of golden. Due to a one way bridge present at the beginning: it might take 20-25 minutes to get up.

Major complaint is around the lifts. At the base there's a single chairlift and a gondola. The chairlift gets you just under halfway up so most people go for the gondola. I was there on a weekday and it was pretty dead: yet there were still 3-5 minute waits to get on the gondola. Can only imagine the line ups on a busy weekend. The "It's a Ten" green run from the top is a pretty good beginners run with plenty of smaller blue/black "shortcuts" along the way. However if you have problems with turning and speed control this isn't the place for you.

Only other complaint was that the ice rink was pretty dinky.

This is one of those mountains where they say "If you can ski Kicking Horse, you can ski anywhere". Definitely true!

There's some insane terrain for intermediate to advanced skiers. I'm not the best skier so a lot of terrain is too advanced for me but there's a good selection to be enjoyed and there's a lot of options for challenging myself.

I lived at a friends house for a winter in Golden a few years ago and skied the Horse almost everyday. Absolutely amazing skiing! Steep and deep! Pow days are insane! Or, you can venture off and always find fresh pow on any day! Oh ya, groomers are good too! Awesome people with great attitudes which make you push harder. The spectacular views never get old. I just wish house prices were cheaper in Golden so I could move there. I still make it a point to go every year for a week or two.
