I just spent the last 6 days in Kaweah Delta Hospital and was denied access to my ADA registered service dog. Under the ADA guide lines they can only ask me if my dog is a registered service animal and if they preform a task for me. I was told I could not have my dog in my room unless I carried all her shot records and registration paperwork on me and was asked to remove her from the hospital. As to not impede my care, or anybody else s care, by causing a disruption, I had my family take my service dog back home. I figured I could make them aware once I was discharged via social media as it seams to make a much bigger impact nowadays.

Edited review: I started researching this hospital after a visit to the ER Wednesday night into morning. We will never return to this ER, even if they had no wait time. The staff is haphazard, uncaring and rude. Not to mention the ER is absolutely disgusting and in total disarray.

After being made to wait from 930pm until 4am we were finally put in a room and told that he needed to be admitted for surgery.

I spoke to Ed Largoza, director of patient experience, and expressed the concerns we had during our visit. I told him that the issues we had with the ER were so upsetting that we considered him being discharged and having surgery at another hospital. Because of the urgency, we decided to have the surgery at Kaweah.

The surgical team was good and the nurse staff upstairs was everything you'd hope you will get if you were to be admitted for surgery.

If you have a child or baby and have the option to go to another ER, I would suggest that you try anywhere but here first. You're going to wait even if there aren't a ton of people because they are a mess back there

I recently moved to town, and I'm trying to get set up with the doctors I need after having four back surgeries. I started with a primary care doctor. Things seemed well until I got a bill for $875 for a urine test! Not only this, but I was allowed to suffer from Venlafaxine withdrawal for a week before they would refill my prescription.

My next step was trying to get set up with a neurologist. Things seemed well until I got a bill for an MRI I never received. My insurance company has just taken to denying everything from Kaweah Delta until I can prove its legitimate. I'm going to have to try a different provider.

Omfg. I just left there. And after hearing how rude people are to their patients. As you leave. God forbid you greet Anyone with a proper shred of decency. They all look at you as if your the scum scrapped from the bottom barrel. This talking about the staff because I seen ebry person wearing a badge.

Lied to me on intake to Urgent Care. I didn't have insurance and they told me that if I paid $90 cash and there were no labs run or anything beyond talking to the doctor, I would not owe anything else. I talked to the doctor about what was going on, nothing else. A few weeks later, they sent me a bill for an additional $115.

I am at the end of day two with my husband who will die here as did my mother and my sister in law. My husband has been hospitalized here two previous times in addition to some ER visits. He is 64 years old and has had brain cancer and other health and cognitive impairments as a result. Other than the surgery doctor who spent a great deal of time with us and some good ICU nurses I can sum up the problem here. Nurses, and residents, spend way more time talking, laughing, being loud and inconsiderate, and on their phones than they do caring for their patients. They literally sit in a row staring at their computers while they visit. I m assuming the cost for this visit will be thousands and thousands and for what? What exactly are we paying for? For nurses to chat? When my husband was brought to the 4th floor from ICU the nurse said I ll be his nurse. I ll check on him but if YOU see anything different let me know. They did not prepare us or explain that WE would be responsible for his care Because after all the nurses are busy chatting. The first time the nurse came in after several minutes of the machine beeping she shut the door behind her So she didn t have to hear it beep again? Or was that our job to tell her too? When i went to the bathroom I got turned around and couldn t remember the room number. I asked three staff who were - yes, guess what- sitting and talking if they could tell me where my husband s room was and they said the room number. They couldn t even point in that direction. Customer service here really really lacks. Families deserve to be treated better when they have a sick loved one or in our case a dying one. A problem with our healthcare system is that we pay nurses to visit and be on their phones rather than actually provide health care services!

Let me start by saying this is my very first medical experience in California. I can say that disappointment runs rampant through this hospital. Unfortunately when you articulately talk, even to the Hospital Administrator , it s a deer in the headlights effect. I recommend meeting this man. Ask him hard questions about his so called policy . He will preach policy until he is blue in the face. He will stick to it until ... you talk about his lack of empathy for others. No answer when asked why we are treated with policy instead of empathetic discussion and understanding when not every situation should be treated the same. He did change his tune and said that my stepson and I could stay until visiting hours were over. Twenty minutes later there s a security guard ready to escort us from the building at 8:35. Visiting hours until 9 fyi. All of this because his mother went in seeking medical help for what ended up being very serious issues we had no idea of. Needing to stay overnight and will need surgery. Her son has never experienced that. This hospitals policy let him up to the floor in the beginning, no issues. After an hour, all of the sudden he s to exposed to germs? But we ve been up here. Now here s the administrator, who follows a conversation he can t handle, with security? Her son doesn t remember a good hospital experience with his mother at five years old. This hospital made him lose sleep, ask questions he should never have to ask, worry when they could have eased his young mind, plainly set a better human example for our youth.

Also by the way Mr. administrator, you weren t the only one in the room with a four year administration degree lol. Nothing surprised me though.

Before all of this, we sat and waited for a room on a floor in that hospital. We heard the news being broken to a new mother that she lost her baby. I quote the Doctor these things happen he walked away after saying that?! I thought California cared about human beings. Her face shows me that People are people wherever you go.

Worst Emergency Department in history. Nothing out of the normal considering the mountain of 1 star reviews. I came here at 8:13pm due to my 5 month old daughters cough. It took the staff over an hour to get into a room and another hour for the doctor to come. It is now 12:39am and I am still waiting to be called back to hear any results of what they found. I am a prior Navy Corpsman who has over 5k experience hours working in an Emergency Department and I can honestly say. The staff and their slow not giving two you know whats is the worst I have ever seen. I know how an E.R. should run and I will tell you right now...thats not it. I think it's time we give JACHO a call and put in some reports.

I took my cousin from out of town here for severe back pain radiating down her legs. She actually collapse in the parking lot. She had vital signs taken and sent back to the waiting room for a couple hours. Then she was taken into see the to see a "triage doctor" and sent to the waiting room again to wait for a treatment room. After a couple more hours a nurse came into the waiting room and took vital signs again. She told us we are 9th in line for a room or a recliner in the hall.
6 hours and counting and still no room or doctor care.
I was born in this hospital but I will not bring anyone else here for emergency care.
Update: After 8 hours (5:10am) she finally got into a recliner in the hallway (her ER room) and was twice offered a pain that was offered but not given at about 11:00pm. Finally got the pain med at 5:35am.
Over 8 hours of excruciating pain, in a crowded waiting room, watching others arrive after us and going in ahead of us.
I may have been born in this hospital but I doubt I'll return to it in the future.

The only reason I am giving this hospital a star, is because the staff was some what nice. With me being a RN it is very hard for me to keep my mouth shut. I understand that hospitals are very busy, and can get really crazy really fast. If you have patients waiting hours to get into to be seen then I would say that something needs to be changed or more people needs to be hired. I was there on Wednesday the 26th at 9:30pm, because of a boil that was causing me not to be able to walk sit down ect. I got checked in just fine and fast. I waited in the waiting room for 3 hours before I went back and was seen by one of the doctors. Then wait another 1 and half to been seen by the doctor himself. He said that i needed to be seen by the ER doctor cause they could not look at me with out a room. I said ok thank you. It took them 2 hours to tell me that I need to go back out in the waiting room to wait for a bed. Another 2 hours passed and I was called to a room in the back. The nurse was in the room and very nice with me and asked me how I was doing and how my pain was and what was wrong.. A hour passes, then another then another then another and no one has came to the room or even came and seen how I was doing. I was laying in the bed in pain for 4 hours before someone came and seen me. Then doctor finally came in and asked what was wrong. Said that I need to be put in a gown and then he would be back to see me... A hour passed and I was not in a my gown then 30 mints latter a young man came in that I have never seen the whole time I was there asked me to put the gown on..?? It took the doctor another 45mints to come back in and see me. Another nurse came in that was not even my nurse and was helping the doctor. They said what they were going to do and I asked them your going to cut me open without me looking at it. The lady said no one has seen what you are talking about and I said no I have been here for 9 hours without being looked at by anyone.!!!!! Other then that almost 10 hours of not feeling like I mattered to anyone everything else was great the doctor was nice both my nurses where nice. They even helped me to the car. So at the end of the night things went good. But that was after something was said.

I don't know if I will ever come back to this hospital I have been there twice and was un-happy both those time. I don't even know how this hospital is still running. I was going to call management but every time I did the auto service hung up on me. So I gave up. I hope the patients that stay here get treated a lot better then the ones that go to the ER...!!!!

Dad went into ER on Friday & because he began hyperventilating, they had to cut off his pants. They put his pants, shirt, keys & wallet in a bag like they are suppose to BUT due to their negligence, the bag with all items are missing. We did a police report at the hospital & Risk Management stepped in to do their own investigation. However, after interviewing all staff & security involved that day, they concluded that somehow in moving him to his room, it got thrown away. I was told hospital regulations will ONLY allow $500 for compensation to patients. My dad was sedated for 2 days so he has no idea what's going on. Plus, we don't want to excite him anymore than he has been already. It's a little over a week & he's still there in ICU with no knowledge of his items missing. When my mom told him she was going to the bank to pull out money so she could get something to eat, he told her he had money in his wallet, so she played dumb & asked how much....almost $500! His Ford F250 & my mom's Escalade car will have to be replaced by Ford with a diff key (more than $500 no doubt). New DMV license will cost $30, will have to hire a locksmith to change house & security doors. Let's not forget to mention she had to cancel credit cards & close bank accounts. God forbid he becomes a victim of identity theft!!! We will be contacting our attorney regarding this measly $500 hospital compensation rule that's for sure. Moral of this story, WATCH for your personal items because Kaweah staff cannot be trusted......

Been waiting in ER for 5 hours. Have yet to see a doctor. Took vitals twice and drew my blood. Having issues with my feeding tube. And staff does not smile!

Update:
After waiting 6 hours I went up to the desk to ask them to cut off my wrist band. She said they were discharging a patient and then I get a room. I asked how long she said 1 hour or more. I said I'm leaving. And left.
