Do not go to NYC without going here. It's historical, its superb eating and the experience is unforgettable. Try the reuban, the pastrami, the hot dogs, Dr. Browns soda, and tip first for more meat

The pastrami sandwich was really good. However they are high priced, there method of ordering and paying is really stupid and confusing like being on a scavenger hunt, and the employees are very rude and all seem like they hate there jobs and life. I wouldn't go back

Excellent deli, with a history. Sandwiches are delicious. Probably the most I've ever paid in a deli for a Reuben ($18+) but it was truely the best tasting pastrami I've ever had... Ever! I'd probably stick to the regular sandwiches (pastrami, corned beef, etc) b/c while they do melt the cheese on their Reuben they do not grill the bread, which makes for a bit of a mess with sauerkraut.

I've never eaten pastrami before but after seeing this place on TV countless times I had to try it while I was in New York and see what the hype was about. Well.. it totally lived up to the hype, the pastrami was incredible. My only regret was not trying the corned beef while I was there, but I will be back for sure and I'll get both next time!

this place is amazing..looks just as advertised and you need to be sure to bring your appetite. I was kind of hungry and barely finished 1/2 they give you probably give a solid pound of the best pastrami you're going to get. The service was quick and also you can sit down at a table and get a server if you don't want to order the sandwich yourself but I recommend ordering yourself to get the whole experience.

So glad I had a chance to come here on my last visit to NY. The Pastrami is quite possibly the best I have had to date!

It funny... I thought I'd be able to tackle the sandwich, no problem. It doesn't look too menacing or overly gigantic, but MAN was I FULL! I did end up taking a small piece home because I simply couldn't let ANY of it go to waste!

The BEST Pastrami I've ever had, along with decades of memories of pictures on all the walls inside if this awesome place. The owners always walk around the Deli and greet customers at there table, it's a NYC Landmark there's no place like Katz Deli for a awesome Pastrami sandwich. Love It!!!!

Very hit or miss. AWFUL grade school french fries, very NOISY & not worth the prices for the sloppy cuts of meats. Another overhyped tourist trap, a clever one but not really family friendly or classy at all. I was once impressed but over the years, it's been a slog just to get crappy faux rye and fatty chunks of pastrami. Still better than SOME traditionals, still a HUGE drag!

Love this place, must for any trip to New York. It can be very stressful and you might have to wait for ages in the queue but it s still worth it in my opinion. The decor is very old fashioned and you can tell it s been around for decades.

Tip: keep the ticket you get when entering. DO NOT LOSE IT. Otherwise you might not have an enjoyable time at all..

The sandwiches are huuuuge (by British standards at least). Personally I think the best is the pastrami, but I ve tried the other meats too, and you can try all the cuts at the counter when you order. Can t go wrong with any since they re all so tasty.

Just be prepared for a real food coma when leaving!

Even though I am not a huge fan of sandwiches, I really like Katz's Deli.

I ordered a roastbeef sandwich (typical) and it was very juicy and fresh.

The only thing that I did not like about the establishment was how crowded it was, but hey, it is popular for a reason. I will definitely return when I am in the area :D

Not a bad pastrami sandwich. However, for 24 dollars, the wait times and poor service aren't worth it to me. I'd rather go to another deli and pay less than half the price for a sandwich twice as big.

The best pastrami you will ever have melt in your mouth, but be patient and either look at the online menu or grab a paper menu when you walk in so that you know what you want when you get to the counter!

It's a great place and the personal working there is so polite.
Now, the original pastrami sandwich it's a little pricey. 24$.... For me it's a one time tasting (also first time trying pastrami).
But they have a reputation for a reason...
The flavor it's really good. They don't go little with anything and you can see how your order is been prepared.

Legendary sandwiches. I can only speak for the pastrami, which destroys my stomach, but I've had it more than once if that says anything.

A few caveats:
1. Expensive (~$19 for the pastrami).
2. You re given a meal ticket for your food which you return when you leave to pay for your meal. If you lose the ticket, it s a $50 fee.
3. Hope you like people. It gets crowded...

OMG - if you go to NYC and you're a foodie, go here. It's working man fancy - meaning, it's not - but their pastrami and corned beef are to die for. Warning - the sandwiches are so high/big, they're probably built for two. The latke's are amazing, as well. Bring money - cash only, ATM on site. THIS IS A MUST VISIT LOCATION, AN EXAMPLE OF THE RAPIDLY DYING JEWISH DELI.

If you are looking for an authentic NY deli, this is the place to go! The atmosphere is enough of a reason to stop by, but the food is also great. They are known for their pastrami, but personally I love their Turkey sandwich. The meat is always moist and tender and perfect! Get the half sandwich and so combo. Their chicken noodle or matzoh ball soups are a great way to start things off, and a half sandwich is stuffed high enough that you won't leave hungry! And make sure you order a Dr. Brown's Cream Soda to wash it down!
And yes. This is the infamous deli featured in When Harry Met Sally - they even have a sign posted over the table where Meg Ryan gave one of her greatest performances!

This is the best deli food in NYC, and that is saying a lot!! The matzo in the matzo ball soup is light and airy. And of course, the pastrami is unparalleled! But... It is crazy expensive. Once in a while, it is worth the splurge!

You already know-how good the food is! A must visit to experience a fun Jewish Deli with everything you can think of. Very busy place so plan ahead and be prepared to stand in line. It's worth it.

If you like nice people, incredible food, and crowds so thick you can't move, then this is the place for you. Katz's has something for everyone, amazing pastrami, great hot dogs, and people who should be wearing shoes. At Katz's, you can find all your favorites - brisket, pickles, and rye. But don't take my word for it, go to Katz's, fight through the mob, and have one of the best NYC experiences of your life.

Overcrowded with poor service. The host is friendly but the servers are not. I get that they are fighting with customers trying to sit in their section but there's gotta be a better way to separate the sections. You only need a server if you definetly want a table. Otherwise you are in the back and seating is luck of the draw.

Nothing special, overrated, overpriced. Not worth the money.
We ordered Pastrami and Brisket, and fried.
All were below expectation. Brisket is much better at Rudy's in Texas. Pastrami compared to smoked meat in Quebec Canada is nothing. Fried: McDonald's has better fries.
Trust me, save your money and spend on something else.

I m from out of town and I must say this place is awesome! I was a little thrown off by the self service so I hurried and ordered the chocolate French toast to get out the way and it was amazing! I will definitely return before my trip is over!

Go off hours ... 3pm, 8:30 11pm short or no lines... once inside grab a ticket and find a butcher.
Cash only Bit pricey however worth it
13 bucks for a kelbosi and hot dog we got the sauerkraut on the side and they gave a small container FULL wife was super happy.
Great dogs ... got some to take home too

It is a little expensive (20+ per sandwich) but it is very good and worth the experience, also the sandwiches are quite big. The roast beef is very different, it is raw! And the pastrami is amazing, it has brisket-like consistency. The restaurant can get a bit crowded but it should be ok for late night dinner.

Best sandwiches in New York City

Best sandwiches in New York City
I heard them from someone s sharing. They stick in here almost 130 years in New York City, which is so crazy long time history and must give it a try if one day I leave this city I ll regret. So we came here, and yes, crowded people in line for sure, but the good way is get your ticket and have several lines you can choose to get in, which is very efficient!
The sandwiches taste so good and just right and also a big one, but just too delicious so very easy to finish by your own !

It's a great place for pastrami sandwiches, but not much else. I don't think most of the food items they offer are all that great. If you can, sit at the table where Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal filmed "When Harry Met Sally."

I appreciate the sandwiches here, very good quality. However I'm not sure if it's worth the wait or hype that surrounds this place. But I guess it has historical ties for the community. Just a bit hectic for some sandwiches which I believe you could get at some other authentic places in the area.

I was excited to visit, and was not disappointed. The side of fries was overpriced and forgettable, but he sandwiches and pickles were great and met my exceptions. If in NYC, I will go back.

A tad expensive but definitely a great experience and a great meal when eaten warm. Skip the queue, go straight to the counters to order and wait around for a table instead of waiting for table service.

How can you go wrong with Katz? This is a must on any visit to the city. Perhaps a little hectic and not a place you want to linger, but on a rainy day there is nothing like a Katz sandwich to make everything look a bit brighter! If you are downtown, definitely stop by.
