We were at Mader s with the Murder Mystery group of 60 people August 11, 2018. All 60 of us prepaid for the dinner and the staff was not attentive, it took us a while to get a glass of wine. Some folks food was cold and it felt as if the restaurant was short staffed and yet when we went down to the bar only a few tables were occupied. The salad, chicken breast and dessert were good, but the service really lacked. The MOD should have briefed the bar staff that a group of 60 people was incoming so that they would attend to us at the bar quicker.

Great beer! The German sampler plate was disappointing though as the schnitzel lacked flavor, the sauerbraten was ok and spatzel doughy. My wife is German and her cooking is great and maybe, just maybe this colored my judgement.

This is Milwaukee history. The last of the great german restaurants. Standards are high, food is consistently good. Decor is full of german antiques. Go there and experience a slice of Milwaukee's past.

Just kinda fell into this place but had a good time!. I ordered the boot thinking the big one "Das Boot" was gonna come. Server didnt either really try to sell it or wasn't sure on the upselling. Ethier way I had the small boot then got the 2L. Boot! It was fun drinking it! Had a blast will go back with Brother to have our own Beerfest!

Omg, I just had the best shrimp cocktail ever! 5 huge shrimp in an amazing gin-touched cocktail sauce resting on top of micro greens. Huge cup. Huge flavor. Potato pancakes- hands down, the best I have had in years. Salmon salad very good!! Nice Italian white wi e. Nice traditional supper club feel. Special thanks to Kyle and Will for great bar service. Will makes a mean old fashioned press!.

It's a nice restaurant, but I found it way over priced for the quality of the food. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but I don't think the prices are warranted. Highly recommend their pretzel bread though. Can't get enough of it.

Our 85$ explore Germany platter arrived barely warm. Meats were very dry. Seemed like poorly warmed leftovers. Was looking forward to a family dinner at this iconic Milwaukee restaurant but left extremely disappointed.

Have had the privilege to enjoy many top end restaurants and this ranks right up there. For the price, it is a great value. Had the five course chef special with wine pairings for our 25th anniversary. The layers of flavor was exquisite. For a special occasion, you can't go wrong. Definitely going again.

Excellent German food in a historic setting. The food here is excellent and well prepared. They also have an extensive wine and drinks list to accompany your meal. Be sure to take a look at the desert tray!

The food was amazing, the service was even better. My mothers schnitzel was a bit cold so Seth brought out a completely fresh dish and it was amazing. The Reuben appetizer was mouth watering and the Mac and cheese was next level.

Violet and I went to Mader's Restaurant in Milwaukee. We will definitely return to this establishment. We absolutely loved the decor, the traditional outfits the staff wore, the service, and the food. It was such a fun experience and well worth the money.

Food is pretty good but for me the service is always questionable. Servers tend to get overwhelmed easy even if there's only 3 tables in the bar that are sat. As a former server that is frustrating

The place has Bavarian decor that's old and dusty. The menu brags about past celebrities that dined there. While famous guests make fare for pre-meal discussion, the Three Stooges Oliver Hardy are not exactly current stars on people's minds. It looks like much of the decor has remained intact (untouched, undusted) since the Stooges visited Maders.
They have a fine beer list and the food was decent but not spectacular. German fare was $30 for sampler plate, and more for specialty dishes.
Overall the food was overpriced and the staff was haughty.

Everything about this restaurant exceeded my expectations. Amazing service, the food was beyond delicious, the decor classy, and the history showcased was so fascinating. I went with a large group of coworkers, everyone was extremely pleased. I am vegetarian and they had multiple options for me to choose from. Food was very authentic and absolutely perfect! This restaurant is by far the best I've ever been to.

Service and food was very good.

Service and food was very good.
Only negative is menu never mentioned almonds in one of the sauces(allergic to them) luckily I heard a waiter at another table when he was presenting the food to his table describing what he was putting before them (I had a wonderful waitress), please put this in menu under description.

Mader's presents a germanic atmosphere. The food, has some touches that are not authentic, and distracting from the actual tastes you want, For instance, the goulash had a very pervasive rye flavor, which drowned out the paprika. The sauerbraten was not at all sour. The rouladen and duck were ok, though not up to what this restaurant used to serve.

Such a special, unique place with amtosphere and excellent food you can hardly find anywhere. I didn't eat this well in Germany. Our server Allison was unobtrusive but did everything possible to make our experience memorable and pleasant. Thank you!

Excellent service, atmosphere, and food from our parking valet, hostess, server, and chef. Loved the oxtail soup, goulash, and pork shank. Great time for our anniversary celebration and lunch.

They have a really good Sunday brunch. Some of it is typical brunch fare like eggs Benedict, but with a German twist. Of course they specialize in German cuisine, so they have German options as well. Service is good and the staff is friendly.
