Went on Saturday morning and as expected, no wait. The ticket system does work well. The pastrami reuben is out of this world and the prices are pretty reasonable for the amount of food you get.

Always great food, a classic staple of any NYC visit. Recommendation, talk to the locals at your table, you'll learn a lot and contrary to what you've heard New Yorkers are friendly and like to brag about their great city.

A New York institution for some of the best pastrami and deli cuts. I have visited multiple times over the past 8 years. Highly recommend, bring a big appetite though. The portion sizes are big and match the price well. Cannot miss this one.

Delicious, and reasonably priced if you're not ordering a sandwich. The knish was delicious, and the vibe and decor were great! The hot dog was also good, the only disappointment was the bun... a standard flavorless white bun. A dog as delicious and juicy and flavorful as a Katz dog deserves a better bun to go with it!

First time in New York and had to try this place.

Not used to the ticketing system to order food, but everyone who walks through the door receives a ticket even if you're not ordering/paying. DON'T LOSE/THROW IT OUT! There is a fee if you try to walk out without one.

Came on a weekday night and there wasn't much of a line during the time. We ordered the pastrami sandwich to share. I don't normally eat pastrami, but this was delicious.

A NY Landmark:

A NY Landmark:

A little confusing and crowded place, not on any main avenue... but still reachable pretty easily for any Manhattan Tourist. The experience: at first you need to figure the system out: When you FIRST come in they give an order ticket at the door, then you got to the Cutter counter, choose the cutter dude, order the "meal" from the wall behind the cutters /food makers ( we looked at the things people ordered before us and simply asked what is the name of that order...), they mark to the ticket what you ordered (drinks too, but that happens at a separate counter next to the Cutter Counters) then you eat and finally you pay at the cashier (there are a couple places there for paying but easiest is to pay at the entrance where you originally got the tickets). And most of all, DON'T LOSE THE TICKETS! It will cost you money if you do. You can mark everything on one ticket if you like.

The food...it is a bit pricey, not your regular hamburger meal cost, double of that. But no matter what order...the stuff is really tasty and there is plenty of it. We ate one pastrami meal and three ate from it!

Great place if you want a certified meal experience! Any food establishment that has stayed this long is doing definitely something right. Would recommend it as the One Food Place in NY.

Oh, one thing...don't miss out on the deli walls! They are plastered with pictures (it is like a time capsule) of customers before you.

Somewhere along the line, I lost my enjoyment of pastrami sandwiches, but Katz reminded me what a good can taste like. With heaps of juicy, savory meat and tasty pickles, I'd have to say that the prices are just about justified. The storefront is also a landmark on its own.

I have read multiple reviews complaining how salty the sandwiches are and about their quality of service. But at least, their signature pastrami gave me a right amount of saltiness and the service we had was more than excellent. Plus, their own IPA on tap is wonderful.

This place has some good food but very expensive. I've been here a few times and I recommend that you try it since it is one if NYC's iconic food spots. I had a hot dog and paid $6 and the burger... Oh lord I don't even want to tell you how much, might pass out. If it was affordable I would have given it another start and a much better review that being said I do recommend that you try it out for yourself. I've been looking at the reviews and there are a lot of mixed feelings about this particular spot. I will definitely go back and grab a burger or dog but it won't be a frequent thing.

As visiting Brits we had to try Katz's deli and we were not disappointed. The best pastrami sandwich I have ever tasted, our carver was brilliant and the food was huge so bring your appetite. It's a queuing system which can be a shade slow but oh so worth the wait.

Heard of this place for years, my family never wanted to take me when I visited because "it's for tourists". Well yes, it is, and for every human who likes REAL food! Bite into a pastrami Reuben. Be reminded of what food was and should be. Calories be damned!

Five friends and I went there after a private party at about 1am and I could not believe the crowd (all ages) very cheery and loud. Everyone ordered their own BIG n DELICIOUS sandwiches and to our surprise they are HUGH and I mean it's loaded with your choice of meat (I think I can make 3 reg. sandwiches outta 1 of Katz,) Only 1 of us could finish a sandwich, we all took them home for lunch the next day. I must admit they're food is a bit pricey, my sandwich was $22 so I probably would only go on special occasions. I do highly recommend everyone gives this place a visit.

Best deli food in NYC. Traditional deli with friendly but surly staff. Brisket, corn beef and pastrami are delicious. Whether you get it to go, eat in or use waiter service you won't be disappointed. A sandwich big enough to share will cost about $22. Online orders get free shipping when you order $100.

Came here as a party of 3, ordered 1 chili dog + 2 hot pastrami sandwiches + 1 order of latkes + 1 order of steak fries + 1 order of chicken noodle soup + 1 plain cheesecake

The food is so good. The pastrami truly is thick and juicy, and there s so much of it. The spicy mustard pairs so well with the meat. The sandwich itself is massive and can easily last two meals.

The chicken noodle soup was really rich and there were a ton of noodles in there. Wouldn t go so far as to say it is a meal as advertised on the menu, but it s a good starter.

Latkes are homey and comforting; definitely greasy, but very worth it. You can have it with both applesauce and sour cream, but I m partial to the apple sauce.

Chili dog has a mountain of chili on it. This is definitely a meal and NOT an appetizer. It s massive. It s great.

The cheesecake is rich; after having so much food, polishing the meal off with one cheesecake for three people is more than enough.

There is waiter service here in one seating section, and that makes the first trip here way easier than trying to navigate lines. Katz s also accepts credit cards, but only at one designated cashier AND you need to have your photo ID (such as a drivers license) with you. We came at 6:30 on a Wednesday and there was no line here. Even at its busiest at 7:30, there weren t overwhelming lines.

Nice to visit seen it's history and food was good but service was incredibly slow. We had a table with waiter service but spent an hour and a half waiting for one single sandwich. In the mean time we saw people without waiter service coming, eating and going. So don't go for waiting service, it has no added value, on the contrary...

Besides the fact that its 30 bucks every time you go there it's a great place went twice already helpfull staff and delicious sandwiches would reccomend to any one who likes corned beef or pastrami

Had to come on my tour of NYC (really only because of When Harry Met Sally.) Came for brunch - had the cheese omelette and potato wedges - not badly priced compared to the sandwiches. Orange juice was depressing and the coffee hurt my teeth it was so strong. I've been once and have a picture with the "this is where Harry met Sally" sign, so I would likely avoid it on my next trip to New York.

Their set up needs improvement. The line breaks into smaller lines, but the smaller lines goes straight into the seating area, making it hard to get to the lines further down and find seats.Verdict: It's good, but I don't know if I'd go back. Like it's good to try, but it's not something I'd crave or anything. And their sandwiches are pretty pricey, $22 for a pastrami. I know meat can be expensive and they give you a good amount, but that's probably the most expensive sandwich I've had before.

Delicious meat! So much meat packed between the bread. Be prepared to wait in line, but there are many (i think 7 total) lines you can get in to order food, so just pick one. Must keep the ticket to pay and exit the deli, or you'll pay a hefty fine for losing the ticket.

The best pastrami in the world is right here. It doesn't get any better than this. We always want to go somewhere else just to try something else, but we always find ourselves back here because it is just that good.

This place can get a bit chaotic because line formations don't really exist, cash only, and pretty expensive for a pastrami sandwich.

However, quality of sandwich is pretty good and a huge contender of Los Angeles' Langer's Deli, which I still think is better than Katz.

All about the hype. You go up to the counter to order your food, not personal service, the meat is hand-cut but thick, I like my corned beef and pastrami very thinly sliced and that is not an option.

New Yorkers are known for being abrasive - it's part of the city's charm. But the service at this place takes things to a whole new level!

Enjoy sipping terrible coffee with your overpriced sandwich slapped together with the most careless hands in New York. Don't bother ordering their omelette though - it's just a whole raw onion mixed into under-cooked eggs.

Spitting in my food would have been an upgrade.
