Below average accommodation.

Below average accommodation.
Old, non renovated rooms.
Old plumbing - we lost water in the shower at the peak hour (when all beach siders come back to room).
No room service available - was looking for water past 8 pm. The shop/deli was closed, the only vending machine was out of order and room service could only give you unfiltered glass of water. They advised to travel 10 mins out to a safeway and get water or get ice and wait for it to melt!
No good view of the beach from balcony unless you are one lucky person to get the 3 or 5 rooms per floor that face the beach.
This hotel has no elevator (on the side we were on) so we had to carry the stroller with the baby everytime we wanted to get out of the hotel or back in..
Other than the proximity of this hotel to beach and whalers shopping area and other restaurant, this is pretty below average accommodation for Maui.

We attended the Legends of Ka'anapali Luau and had a spectacular time! We loved learning about the history along with wonderful signing and dancing. The food was great and the servers came around with drinks often.

Not sure how this hotel gets a 4.3 star rating but I would say 2.5 at best. Rooms & furniture are out dated, grounds need work, much of the concrete walks need to be repaired or replaced, etc. Very expensive menu, drinks are crazy expensive. (8oz Daqueri for $10.75). Breakfast for 2 adults (not buffet) ended up being $50+. Needed some help to just print out a tour ticket but was just directed to a computer with a $7 fee to gain access to the internet plus another fee to print! Not my idea of a customer friendly vacation spot!

The pictures are very deceiving. the hotel is very old compared to the other resorts in the area. the other resorts are much more modern and have much more activities for people. the pools were also very small and dirty. After just one night and a few hours in the morning we decided to check out and move to the hyatt.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! My husband and I woke up to a rodant in our room in the middle of the night, who was trying to get into our bags, and pooped all over our things! I was disgusted! They were un willing to do anything about it- offering us a "late check out" to make up for it. IBy staying here you are welcoming PESTS in your luggage, clothes, bodies, and it will ruin your vacation!!

We had a sea facing room, nice and clean. The staff was very warm and courteous. The complimentary breakfast was very helpful with two kids. Everyday they had some free fun activities for kids and also grown ups which we had sign up for. We would love to come back again.

The hotel was actually the worst hotel we had to stay in for 5 nights during our stay in Maui.
Uncomfortable, very dark rooms. Lovelessly furnished. Parking is extra for the stay ($ 90).
We got a welcome breakfast. A PowerPoint presentation was given here, which was to be viewed more as a sales presentation. And breakfast itself wasn't terribly tasty. When it was empty, that was it. The breakfast room was without windows and absolutely loveless ....
Can't recommend this hotel at all. Look around for small hotels in Haiku or Wailuku. At all other hotels we were able to borrow BoddieBoards for free and also had surprisingly white breakfast with us.

Great place to stay! Very comfortable and clean. Beautiful grounds and pool and a lovely Aloha vibe. Free WiFi in the whole resort area and a welcoming fruit plate with a card. The only thing I wished the rooms had was a chain lock because my three year old could easily open the door from the inside. I'd definitely stay here again.

Overall an awesome stay!! Only real complaints were the shack out by the beach that rents out the snorkeling gear etc. Never rented anything out the whole week because of "dangerous surf conditions" yes there were waves coming in and out but let me sign a waiver or something then. People cant usually bring there own snorkeling gear and boogie boards so was really dissappointed we couldn't do any of that right at our resort. Food is exspensive especially for quality! Rooms were always clean and amd neat. Amazing staff and very good "true Hawaiian" expeirence resort!! Would definitely come back again!!!

Customer service here was great. Staff are very friendly. Our partial ocean view room was perfect. I slept with the door cracked & loved sleeping to the sound of the waves. The cute little bar area (could use more seats/tables) and nightly music in the courtyard was a nice touch.

The hotel itself is dated and could use upgrades. The staff are great. The beach is fantastic, soft sand and warm water. Easy walks to kid-friendly snorkeling at Black Rock and the Whaler retail center for dining and shopping. Big open courtyard.

We stay here in November to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. The room was what we wanted, functional and nothing too fancy. What we wanted was the view and the beach....I have no worlds to describe sunset.

The beach was right out the hotels backyard, we rented chassis some days and others hung out by the pool.

The breakfast buffet (included with room) was great. With the time change we would be up at 4 am and have something in our room, then do breakfast for lunch. The suns brunch was amazing and has SO MANY options!

I can t wait to got back!

All the staff was great, except for the guy that was sitting at the bottom of the stairs to help with luggage but walked away as we approached. Requested a two double bed room in December for March and was put in a 3 story walk up building with filthy floors, walls and dirty asbestos ceilings that have never been painted. The pocket door to the small toilet and plastic shower with no place for a bar of soap or bottle didn't close easily and was just run down. Very dated and not clean looking cause it's so old. Wanted the Hawaiian feel without the dirt. No excuses for not painting and cleaning.

The staff was very friendly, always smiling and lovely. The location was also convenient within walking distance of Beach walks to whalersvillage and other hotels. The hotel, unlike the surrounding hotels, was an old-fashioned Hawaiian-inspired place. The courtyard with the pool was very green and the scenery from the veranda was very nice with a natural atmosphere. The room was clean and tidy, and it was an easy environment to spend every day. The audience was very good, as there were many people who read slowly in the courtyard or poolside, such as old couples, unlike the surrounding hotels, and there was no noisy atmosphere and it was very good. If I had another chance to visit Maui, I wanted to stay again.

Currently staying in the hotel for four days. Great location to stay. Friendly staff. Very courteous. Very helpful.
Everyday there is a music which you can see while having dinner. Great beach.
Now coming to the room, Room needs a uplift, not like other chains, Beds are good . One thing that needs a fix right away is cockroaches. For the price you pay, this is not something you expect. 4 star is for the location and the staff. Please fix the cockroach issue. Wish I could give 5.

We are kamaaina here on Maui & booked this hotel for the first time during 4th of July weekend. Booked for 2 days but, after 2 hours of being here, we had to check out. The room was not what we requested, it was like walking into a 1971 seen (out-dated) big time. The pool was so small that our children refused to get in it with the other 50-60 guests (really makes you want to go to the ocean where its definitely cleaner to swim). The cheeseburger drink combo at the tiki grill was almost $15.00 with tax. No kamaaina rates or discounts offered. When at the front desk, we heard front desk agent offering the tourist 20% discount for the same tiki grill but we did not get the same offer. 2 thumbs down on that!!! After 2 hours of this hotel, we tried to check-out and get a 1 day refund because of poor hotel experience and it took 1 hour of run around service just to find out that we would not be eligible for a credit of any sort. So terrible. Not the most Hawaiian hotel at all and makes Hawaiians look bad. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!! On the up note, we did check into the Westin next driveway down for only $4.00 more per day and stayed an extra day because the hotel, all the staff members, the food and the pool was FABULOUS!!!! Don't make the same mistake we did by booking this hotel........

This hotel is amazing for beach front views. There is a small court yard with a pool, giant chess, tiki bar and grill. I recommend staying on the ground floor as close to the beach as you can. This way you can walk off of your room's small porch onto the grass and beach. The hotel is a small walk down the beach from Whaler's Village, which has food, clothing, ABC stores, etc. Over all, the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel is a great hotel for anyone, and it's my personal favorite.

Room looks old, the TV set is too old. You can see it is a old hotel. But, good beach, clear water and walk to black rock, we saw lots of fish and turtle. The room service good. Other hotels in this area are cost more. So if you don't mind the old room, this is a good choice.

Right on the beach and the a/c worked, more than we could say for the condo's we stayed in the previous 3 nights. The weather is changing in Maui like many places. one degree C, does make a difference how hot the nights are, even there.

Outstanding resort. The staff are incredibly kind, the organization is orderly and thought out, the activities are a delight and fun. The food is pretty good. The rooms are more than recent. Our room was right on the corner next to the beach so all night we listened to the water waves crashing. It was beautiful. Love it activities and amenities. Not far from malls, walking distance along the beach to mall and other resorts. Great beach front. Wasn't over crowded. No annoying vendors. The water was gorgeous. Tons of excursions. Whale watching, snorkeling, coral, fish, turtles and more. Highly recommended.

Update Needed<br/>A return to Maui, Hawaii served two purposes; to revisit friends from my first encounter six years ago and to do some research for my next book. Staying at Ka anapali Beach Hotel was a first for me so as I do with my other hotel reviews, the pros and cons.<br/>Pros:<br/>The hotel location was perfect within a long strip of other popular hotels in the area. Access to the beach was easy and reachable in less than ten minutes.<br/>The exterior was pleasant upon arrival and the bell hops were in attendance to assist with our luggage and to park our vehicle.<br/>Check-in was effortless and the clerk that took care of us was excellent and fun to chat with.<br/>The grounds around the hotel were always kept up with easy access to all areas.<br/>The Ohana welcome breakfast was a nice way to obtain overall general information regarding tours and general information about the hotel.<br/>The staff were pleasant. <br/>A touching departing gift from the hotel is the lei kukui with the telling of the significance behind it.<br/>Cons:<br/>The rooms interior appeared very dated, like late 60 s. <br/>Furniture in the room needs updating. The current look contributed to the dated feel.<br/>At times the temperature in the room had a damp feel. <br/>The bathroom had no ventilation system. I had to leave the door cracked during my shower to allow for air movement. <br/>The bathroom also had an old look to it as the molding was damaged and paint was peeling in some areas.<br/>We were disappointed with the roll away bed that was added to our bill due to another person that joined our trip. It sat so low to the floor that it seemed that it was meant for a child.<br/>The restaurant and grill area were pricey in my opinion considering what we received for our meal. (Thirteen dollars just for a burger and no sides!)<br/>Parking was tight if you did your own. At times it took ten minutes of driving around to find a space if were late in the day when people returned from being out most of the day.<br/>Overall: A fresh, new look would give a more welcome feel to the guest rooms.

Rooms are very old and worn. Everything stinks moldy and smells of mold.
After a few days, all items of clothing are damp and smell musty.
Door openers to the room usually do not work.

Rooms are clean, you can't say anything. Otherwise beautiful area with a great beach. Breakfast buffet optionally bookable for 26 USD per person and everything you need is available. The padding such as Milk is only given when requested 5 times, which unfortunately very much
is negative.
You also have to spend about 15 minutes in the
So-called waiting area wait until the staff finally sit down at a table, although about 20 tables are free. At $ 26 a cheek and you can't understand why this is done here. Staff at the entrance to the breakfast restaurant were always very rude.
The fresh fruits and scrambled eggs are positive, they are delicious.
Safe costs extra, which is standard nowadays.

My husband and I went to the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel for our honeymoon and we loved it! We paid a little more for a beachside hotel room and the view was incredible. We also had a bit more privacy because we were in the corner and it was perfect for us. We were on a budget so compared to some of the other places around, it didn't seem as luxury when we booked this hotel but for the price it was fantastic. It also didn't feel too much like we were at a family hotel because we went in the middle of the week in October so it felt adult. I also really appreciated the cultural aspects of the hotel and the super fun shows at night (by the pool bar which had super tasty drinks) and especially the luau, which our server made SURE our drinks were never empty! It was so much fun! The only issue we had was that the restaurant installed some sound machines to divert birds and cats from the outdoor space which was really high pitched and horribly irritating but when we told them how uncomfortable the sounds made us (they couldn't really hear them but I could) they turned them off, which I really appreciated. We hope to come back during some of our anniversaries to get our white beads to add to our leis!

The rooms are old keep your food up or you will have bugs, I think it's just the climate. The only reason I gave this place 5 stars was because of the staff they are amazing! The Hale Hookipa was awesome that was my daughter's favorite part of her vacation. She loved getting stamps and learning the culture. They showed her how to make a bracelet she was so excited and proud of herself. We learned so much from the classes and even learned some safety things that everyone should learn. they recommended beaches that she could snorkel at she got to see turtles. I hope they really take very good care of thier staff because they are hands down the reason why we will return . Maholo

Fantastic place. Feels like pure paradise. Homely, ideal for a base to use for tips around Maui. Only down side is the prices of drinks especially $5 (daytime, extra 50c at night) for a baby sized beer!

The rooms at this hotel are fine, they are clean and big enough, though they could use some upgrading. However, most of my time was not spent in the room anyway. For me, location was most important. The hotel has a wonderful grassy, shady courtyard area with a few small stands and an outdoor performance area, as well as a pool. Directly behind it is the beach, which is lovely. Unlike the area some of the other hotels are situated on, this beach has plenty of sand, making a day outside so much more comfortable. It is also close to the famous Black Rock. The hotel is only a short walk away from a shopping area and a Maui bus stop. A great, convenient place to stay.
