Both bathroom door locks were not functioning, as well as one of the bedrooms with the restroom in it door lock was broken too. Both TV's would not work, had 2 service guys for 2 hours mess with the TV's and they could not get them to work. Ridiculous. Other than that everything else was fantastic! Pool staff was friendly and helpful, front desk was informative to any questions we had. The condos were very spacious. Walking distance to beach was very convenient. Our stay was great, not sure if i'd come back here for the price though.

When we checked in we were told they were overbooked, and were moved to another hotel. We were looking forward to some of this hotels activities. The hotel we were moved to is rennovating so there is a lot of hammering and construction noise, we were notified we would have no running water between 10am and 2pm. This really sucks.

We were here for the Sunday champagne brunch. Food was excellent and the service was great. Only issue we had were all the birds flying around. The food was amazing and the selection was awesome. Enjoyed our meal. Will defiantly be back when we visit Maui again.

Very Hawaiian hotel. Great location, right on the Ka'anapali beach. With a flash sale, we got a good price and the room & balcony overlooked the beach from about 20ft away - WoW! The whale shaped pool was small, but enjoyed by many and of course the ocean was a couple hundred feet away. The hotel is right on the Ka'anapali beach walk which makes it easy to walk to any of the other hotels & restaurants on Ka'anapali beach and to the Whalers Village shopping area. The hotel was under construction, so the restaurant/bar/?? near the beach was closed and there was one restaurant near the lobby that was open for breakfast & dinner. Our room was in the north wing which was separate from the construction. It was a little dated, but clean and comfortable. To summarize, we had a very enjoyable vacation.

Our stay here was fantastic, the location is great and quiet. The hotel is smaller in size than the surrounding ones, which made it feel much less busy and crowded. The large lawn provides plenty of space to tan or just relax, never a shortage of loungers. The sunsets from here are gorgeous!

The rooms are decent, the decor is no thrills but comes equipped with all the necessities, who stays in their rooms with views and beaches like this! The grounds are well maintained with many beautiful flowers and trees. The staff go out of their way to help and always say "Aloha".

If you want a place with charm and a real Hawaiian feel, this is the place. Would return in a heartbeat.

We stayed in a few different Hotels during our trip to Hawaii but none offered the charm and feel that Ka'anapali Beach Hotel did. The grounds are immaculately kept and the service and staff is second to none. We opted to have the included breakfast package with our stay and it was definitely worth the added cost. The food was great and was changed up daily. Will definitely plan to stay here again if we ever get back to Hawaii.

Stayed here for 6 days. The room should have had a door on the bathroom - no privacy in the room. Breakfast was good each day - but overpriced. Room had 2 towles - they brought up another 2, Then each day when cleaning the room they always took 4 and left 2 - no common sense.

Stayed here twice so far, friendly staff, nice/decent room with amazing Hawaiian style. Super close to our favorite black rock and some shops down the beach. Enjoyed every day stay. Would come back again.

Outstanding. This hotel stole our hearts. It's family oriented, and the beach is amazing. Our daughter loved the whale shaped pool. They have a great kids program that let's them collect gifts and learn more about Hawaii. I can't imagine staying anywhere else on Maui. It was that perfect.

The hotel stay over a week was okay. We moved rooms from floor 2 to 5 due to other visitors smoking on their balcony in an adjoing room. The smoke was being pushed through the doorway between the rooms. Floor 1 and floor 6 are available for smoking. If I had known this ahead of time, I would have tried to stay at a different hotel.

The buildings are outdated and look and feel like my old college dorms. Other hotels and condos nearby are more modern.

While I didn't stay at the hotel, we did check out the grounds which were beautiful. If you stay on kaanapali you are going to be in a top notch facility as Kaanapali beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on Maui.

Very friendly staff, it is of a normal standard for a resort hotel though the restaurant didn't look too appealing when compared to others a short walk down the beach. Rooms could do with some updating in places. Hotel charges for the use of the safe in the rooms.

The food and service was remarkable as soon as we walked in, including a breakfast buffet and a live band during dinner. The pool was big and roomy and the resort had direct aces to the public beach and parasailing. The only downside to the resort was the lack of a hot tub and small room. I'm sure I would have rated 5 stars if it wasn't expensive to get a better room.

Arriving at 8pm, there was only one staff member dealing with a queue of 5 people ahead of us. Not a great first impression. Parking is not plentiful for such a large hotel: we managed to secure the last spot in the outdoor section. The room smells musty but has all essentials and everything is clean. We popped to thr bar at 9pm to see if we could grab a snack, but all eateries were closed and the bar closed at 10pm. The bar lady was lovely, though. Next morning we decided to 'grab and go' at the snack bar; the food was tasty but the server wasn't friendly. We then asked the receptionist at the restaurant if we needed to book for dinner and were told we could eat the Thanksgiving dinner at 11am (it was 10am & we'd just eaten) as they were fully booked at night. We went to see if the main reception could help and were told the only option was pizza, snack bar or to eat off site. When my husband said that wasn't what we'd expected, he was told to go back to the restaurant to speak to the manager there.
The receptionist then made a derogatory comment as we walked away. As seasoned hotel guests, (this is our 12th in the last month and 3rd in Hawaii) we assume that it is a given that hotel guests can eat comfortably in the on site restaurant. If this isn't the case, it is remiss that guests aren't informed by email beforehand that reservations are required. Consequently, we ate off site at a fabulous restaurant 5 minutes walk away called Leilani's, where the staff couldn't have been kinder or more professional.

This is where the beach access path is from the street. Never stayed at this hotel as an overnight guest, had a drink at the bar, or stepped foot onto their actual propert for that matter. This review is simply for the walkway that lies directly next to the parking lot. Aloha!

Definitely dated, but spectacular views. Only major drawback is the tiny pool. No resort would build that small of a pool anymore. Typical overpriced drinks and food for a resort, but at least its good. Bar serves a static list of drinks. Don't challenge them with anything fancy. Friendly workers.

Was there May 18, 2016 for our 25th anniv. Everything was great. Large and clean rooms, large bathrooms. Had a great garden view/ocean view. Close to shopping, resturants and most in walking distance. Great breakfast buffet, food was real good and a large variety and reasonably priced for Maui. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. I would stay there everytime I go to Maui in the future.

Beach is like a pillow. Staff is outstanding! Rooms were extremely comfortable. Pool was great for our 7 and 42 year old kids :) We came here for our honeymoon 20 years ago; it did not disappoint then and was even better this time. Stayed during Hurricane Lane and wildfires. The management gave us free food for the days we were stuck. They kept us updated of any emergency plans. Felt safe with my family the entire time. We wIll never stay anywhere else on the islands!!!

The hotel is located in the middle of the Kaanapali hotel stretch. A five minute walk from Whalers Village, it's convenient to either eat at the hotel or go to the shops to eat. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The hotel restaurant is not fancy, but the food and service is good. The hotel is not one of the newer fancy ones, but it's easy to get around and right on the beach. And for all you Pokemon Go players, it has 4 pokestops and a lot of activity, at least while we've been staying here.

Rooms are dingy and a little smelly. Bathrooms are small and there is no elevator. Everything feels a little run-down. Staff is extremely friendly and grounds are nice. Two star buildings, five star grounds and staff.

Normally have a great experience there but the hotel is getting rundown and they don t do a great job of keeping up with it. The surrounding hotels offer much nicer accommodations at around the same prices. Love the beach at this hotel and the staff is friendly but when they screw up or have faulty equipment (laundry facilities and door locks) they don t even apologize. I used to think the people who worked there loved their jobs but it has changed over the last 3 years.

We started out in a room right next to the elevator shaft (noisy late into the night), then had problems where the room keys wouldn't work the next day. When we went to the front desk, we were moved to another room without needing to complain move than indicating our experience so far. The hotel is in a great location and the staff worked to make sure we were happy.

Merits its 3-star rating. Delightfully friendly staff who are genuinely interested in each guest, sharing their sense of humor and happy to help with tourist info or just sharing a slice of life. Preceding universally true except for restaurant staff, who seemed harried and not very attentive, and (strangely) the concierge team, who were friendly enough but who often couldn't provide same quality of advice as the general staff. Room was comfortable and reasonably furnished. Sound of running water from showers on above and below floors came through very loud at any/all hours. Main light and fan controls unconventional and took a few days of trial and error to master. Even at the lowest setting the A/C was too chilly, but room became too warm without it. Bathroom was always clean and functional, but could have used a refresh in the last few years. Beach was easily accessible and attending staff were friendly (see above). No fish/turtles, although they were present at adjacent property (Black Rock). Overall, the generally great staff overcame the shortcomings.

My family and I went here for Sunday brunch. The employees are very friendly and helpful. The food on the other hand was a little disappointing. It seems as though the food quality has gone down a bit. Not everything was bad. For the price you expect it to all be of a higher quality. It is a shame because this was our favorite place for Sunday brunch. It looks like we will be looking for another venue to take its place.

We stayed last year at this hotel's sister propert...

We stayed last year at this hotel's sister property, Plantation Inn in Lahaina, and had a great experience. We were sorely disappointed in this experience though. Let's at least start with the good stuff. Location is great, right by Black Rock for snorkeling and right on Kaanapali beach. Room seemed mostly clean except for a few bugs here and there. Staff is mostly friendly, and they have some cute "ohana" traditions to make you feel special, like a lei ceremony before you depart.
And now, the unfortunate parts. We were on our honeymoon, and booked a package that included snorkeling gear for 2 for 2 days, "mesh" hats, a dinner for 2, lunch for 2, and an included car rental. This package was an incredible waste of money and I highly highly recommend you don't book a package here. Let me break it down.
CAR RENTAL INCLUDED- We arrived at airport Budget car rental to lines over 2 hours long - just to check in, not even to get your car (which was another mass of people waiting). This is apparently the norm, according to reviews. The fact that this hotel would sell a package including a basic, cheap car rental from this place that they absolutely know is terribly rated and reviewed is really quite dumb, since their visitors' first experience is waiting hours just to get this car., which is not exactly how people want to start their vacation. We decided to forgo the Budget rental, went to Hertz next door, and had a car in 5 minutes. At the hotel check in, we explained the situation and were rudely told by the manager that "we could have Ubered to the hotel, there are lots of ways to get around the island." Now why would we do that? We PAID to have the car included. The hotel was not willing to do anything- no partial refund of the car rental cost (even though they could cancel the car and not be charged for it), no offers of anything to make up for it (literally free breakfast for a couple days would have sufficed, but nope, no dice). But she told us "we left you a nice welcome gift in your room." Which turned out to be a bottle of Barefoot Bubbly. Wow. We don't even drink champagne. So lame.
SNORKELING GEAR INCLUDED- We went to get our 2 day snorkeling gear and were told they would not give it to us due to "red flags indicating high surf." We looked a few yards down the beach to where hundreds of snorkelers were having fun at Black Rock (both days). Kaanapali Beach Hotel continued to insist that it was for our safety that they would not give us the gear. They offered cabanas instead. We didn't want cabanas, we wanted to snorkel, safely, like all the other people in the water. What in incredible ruse and waste of our money- and again, no refund for that part of the package offered. We ended up using the one mask we had brought and had an incredible time snorkeling, individually, seeing all kinds of fish and turtles.
DINNER- The included dinner at the beach restaurant was fairly good- no complaints there, and in fact, I commend the staff for their friendliness, which was far and above the friendliness of any desk staff or tiki staff.
LUNCH- Stale caesar salad and a fish sandwich with fries. Don't expect anything fancy for lunch included in your package. It's basic shack food, and OK but not great.
HATS- "Mesh" hats are code for trucker hats. You get 2 lovely cheap trucker hats with your package. No comment here really, just FYI.

Overall, if you're planning to stay here, I recommend getting the least expensive room you can get (our "ocean view" room only had a view of the ocean if you actually walked out onto the balcony and looked at the ocean- no view from the bed or chairs in the room) and just enjoy being right on Kaanapali Beach. Don't expect a high level of service, and you'll be fine. As for us, they brought our honeymoon down for sure, and the package was an utter waste of money above just getting a plain old room here. As of now, we can't say we'll be back.

Such excellent service and attitude. A true Hawai i experience. This place has what the other resorts don t.... true Hawaiian experiences. Not just a pool and a spa. Pineapple cutting, lei making, nightly live music, and more. While the rooms and facilities may be dated they are well kept and the value is impossible to beat!
