Best music store in Oly. Best service, great atmosphere.
First time visiting; took some albums to trade in for cash, very happy that I don't have to move them (ever again!). Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, shop clean & well organized. I look forward to going back to just browse.
This place is amazing! So much unique vintage stuff!
Whenever I go i have a wonderful time. The energy inside is so rad and they got lots of stuff to look at. Also the people who work there are helpful and just such cool people, honestly I'm a lil jealous of how cool they are. Please go and support Rainy Day Records when they are open!!
They sell plastic sleeves for 12" records, have cool flyers all over, you can rent cool movies, they have lots of vinyl, and Rainy Day has been around for many years. The staff is knowledgeable and you can have them order releases for you.
Huge selection of new and used CDs and records and an amusing collection of clever or cute postcards. You can even rent DVDs! The staff is incredibly pleasant and helpful. If you're looking for something specific, I'm sure they can help.
They paid me a paltry sum for my records and told me they weren't worth anything. Then days later, I saw my records for sale at exorbitant amounts. Jeez, would have been nice to know, guys. I have bills. . .
They find me what I need! The obscure and rare, imports, etc., they have always been extremely helpful.
Great new & vintage CD's', DVD's & Vinyls with great prices!
My favorite record store! I've been going for 30+ years and they Never disappoint. You can buy seek or trade just about anything and the service is excellent.
This place mostly sucks. The selection is ok at best and I really don't care for having some greasy olympia wannabe judging me for every selection I make. Every time someone walks out the door with a purchase the staff all talk out loud about what they purchase.
Very knowledgeable and incredibly helpful staff! I loved my experience there.
Everything from oldies to today's music and the atmosphere is amazing.
This store is a gem. The staff is kind and helpful. One man gave my son a Garfield stuffed animal they had on display just to be kind! It made my boy s day. Great selection of new and used albums, check it out!
I always find things I need and want and sometimes find things I didn't know I needed and wanted.
This is a great record store. They sell both new and used, but nicely have the areas separated. I didn't purchase anything used but I did purchase several new records. The selection is great! They have a nice selection of newer stuff along with reissues from the 60's, 70"s, 80's and 90's. Also a nice selection or metal, rock and world music. If you are in Olympia and collect vinyl this place is not to be missed.
Almost impossible to get help, service severely lacking. I spent 60 dollars on two albums and felt like I was putting them out by spending my money.
Possibly the best place in earth. The only thing I can complain about is 1 (very liberal) worker. I asked him if there was any "Third Eye blind" in stock and he rudely said "No. We don't have third eye blind and we don't have any 90's music." But when I went searching for some Vinyls, I found "Third Eye Blind 20th anniversary." AND "Nevermind" by Nirvana (A 90s band). So yea. Other than that, Rainy Day has a great selection and it smells great there. (The album below is "Unknown Pleasures" by Joy Division)
LOVE this funky local business where DVDs can still be rented, and staff is always willing to help.
This place is pretty cool. The workers are nice. The only problem I had was I brought in records and without even taking a glance they said they didn't want them. But it's cool I guess I got some never played Mozart to listen to.
Great selection, reasonable prices, and knowledgeable staff. I have been here multiple times and can usually find what I am looking for, the few times I haven't been able to find what I wanted the staff was either able to order it for me or point me in the right direction.
Comfortable place to browse for just about any kind of music. Take plenty of time to listen to the music being played in the store. Cool old fashioned record store.
A classic indie record store. If your a music nerd, and want to a real record store in the Olympia area, this is the place to check out
I ve been here two years in a row but I d be here a lot more often if I didn t live in California! Great selection, great service, and prices that are hard to beat! The next time I m in Washington I will be here again.
Amazing and they hooked us up with a sought after promo. Lots of selection.
Love this old-school record store. Friendly staff. Very helpful. Thousands of selections.
I go here all the time. Fun place to be, and the people who work there and shop there are great. Everyone's family, how it should be.
Pros: Lots of cool records. Very helpful staff!
Cons: Parking is limited.
Nice clean place. Friendly and helpful.
Prices could be a little lower.
Best place for records, cds, tapes, turntables and other retro pop cultural items in downtown olympia.
Pretty cool shop with a nice variety of albums. Prices are comparable to other local shops
Cool funky old school record store with vibtage to current releases. Great staff and cool vibe.
What all the reviewers said goes for me. Huge affordable collection, great & knowledgeable staff, & easy in and out.
Is the only Place to go if you're looking for manage vinyl and any thing that goes along with it Record needles or anything else if they don't have it they might know where you can locate it very reasonable and friendly staff would recommend to anyone and everyone if in the area stop by and check them out such a good review and I don't work for them lol
Great selection, helpful staff, easy to listen before buying, always willing to order anything that isn t stocked.
A small to medium size shop with a well chosen but limited selection.
The selection is pretty alright, and I really like getting used DVD's there. Often I find the employees to not be very kind, and they are especially rude if you are a college student (going so far as to not allow students to rent movies).
Love they have current music on vinyl, as well as classics. Quick responses to emails.
Great selection of used & new vinyl, some free vinyl put out in boxes sometimes. Local Olympia culture represented in patches/stickers/cards/postcards/Local artists for sale. Small selection of used DVD & some VHS. Great cassette selection mostly new, some used, and amazing mixed tapes put together by a staff member. Also offer some audio components including turntables.
Awesome record store. A definite reminder of stores from the 70s ans 80s. Great selections of vinyl and CDs, with ties back to the OLY Riot Grrl movement.
Rainy day is an Olympia staple, and the staff is so wonderful and helpful. They have ordered in limited release special edition records for me and always at an amazing price. They are going great keeping the community and their staff safe during covid, which is no easy task especially when half the community thinks covid is a joke and behaves accordingly. Thank you for all of your hard work and for doing all that you do!!
Great music shop! Found some old goodies for low prices! Loved the decorations and environment.
Fun local business. Used and new items. Good pricing.
Used to love this place. Vibe totally changed since COVID. Everyone working in here seems wayyyyy too uptight now. The micromanaging is a bit extreme for my taste. As a Marine veteran, that s saying a lot. Really did not appreciate being stared at constantly as I was browsing the records. There s better record shops to look at (Tacoma) during the pandemic without this level of uptightness. I don t think I ll visit here again, atleast until the pandemic is over...
Wow. Had things that I didn't expect. Blew my mind, such an amazing store!
Cute record shop in Olympia with a phenomenal selection of indi labels and a decent used selection as well. Worth a stop if you're in the area and records are your thing!
Funky record store. Mostly new vinyl w/ a decent used selection and fair prices.
Yikes, these were super over priced and not much of a selection at alllll. I'm used to an abu dance of record shops all over the portland/beaverton area with prices from $3-20 and these were $24-35!!! Very little selection. Couldn't find anything I actually would purchase besides a glass animals. If you like to hunt for good records, pick a different shop.
Decent collection of used and new vinyl that is worthy of checking out if you are in the downtown Oly area.
Got some great new records for cheap under the second hand section and a lot of new records got 25% off their price. Besides from that the store looks great!
Absolutely amazing! The girl working tonight was super sweet and helpful. Would come here just for the environment and people.
Wow they have a large selection of Vinyl. You can always find a treasure in this place.
What a great little downtown shop. A fun place to shop, and you can even rent movies. "Hippies enter through the side door." I looked all over but couldn't find it. Love this place.
If you like vinyl this is your place! Great staff and good selection of new and used.
Great selection of new and used vinyl and CDs. A must-visit whenever we're in Olympia.
I wish I could buy something here every day. The people here are very friendly too.
An Olympia institution! They have everything from used punk records to brand new major label vinyl. Don't leave oly without a visit!
Great record shop in downtown! Great selection too! Vibe is pretty chill and the staff is really helpful.
There is a bigger selection on new records than there is for used, but overall I ve been able to find what I m looking for.
Overall, 9/10 definitely will come back!
Top notch for old and new vinyl plus lots of other cool stuff!
I am baffled at this business...they could get more business but their hours dont mesh with the adult working population....who has money to spend...then they close when the smoke comes in because they dont have the intelligence to figure out how to keep their doors closed and still conduct business. Guess we drive to tacoma or shelton to get our vinyls.
Rainy Day is quite possibly one of my favorite places in Downtown Olympia.. the staff is absolutely amazing and the energy is amazing. I have ordered 2 different Album's from them now because they didn't carry them in the store. Got them in time and extremely impressed that they got them for so cheap. James has helped me learn a lot about records being that I am starting my own collection.
