The views from the bridge are what I loved more than the bridge itself. Fantastic.
great historical place ... recomend to study history before visiting the bridge to enhance your impressions from standing here
It is a very beautiful place and very romantic place
There was no toll but there was a car next to is that was broken into and the vista
First crossed this bridge about 45 years ago - never walked across it until yesterday - when we did both ways... Was everything I had hoped it would be - an absolute MUST DO!!
Walking across the Golden Gate Bridge, I was in awe of how enormous an undertaking this must have been in the 30s. If you have the time, I recommend taking a walk across the bridge. Pictures from afar don't do it justice! Along the way, there are informative plaques for you to learn more about the bridge.
Besides driving, there are lots of ways to get to the bridge, including the HOHO bus and San Francisco's Muni buses (the 76x on weekends is especially speedy).
Too cold for me. But we were able to walk across it for free and see some nice views.
I just got back. Great experience! Great view of the bay. Very loud though so it can be hard to here others. I definitely recommend going.
World Famous Landmark in SF
Pros: The bridge is beautiful. There is no other alternative. It shortens the distance between SF and Marin/North Bay. Beautiful view of the city of SF. Very distinct shade of red. Money printer for San Francisco.
Cons: Traffic can be absolutely horrible for daily commuters and tourists. Also, the bridge is very narrow, so be careful driving and walking on it.
Tips: Come on off hours during the weekday for the least crowded views and best scenery. Walk the bridge, but be careful of cyclists and other pedestrians. Bring a jacket and clothes; it is always VERY Cold on the bridge, even if it seems nice and sunny. Bring a camera!
Overall: It is a world famous landmark, the very definition for some of SF. It is beautiful and plays an important role in SF both culturally and economically.
A must-see in San Francisco! Start at the welcome center and walk across if you can.
Great place to visit, it has history and a souvenir shop. I think they should promote it more
A great place to visit for a scenic view comprising nature and the Golden gate bridge, which is an amazing art of engineering.
A must see in San Francisco. Several approaches, good to see by bike. Rent one in SF, cross the bridge and long coast into Sausalito then take the ferry back. Noisy.
Always breathtaking to cross. The Vista Point exit on the northside immediately after you cross is a must stop. The view from the 24 hr rest stop is unbelievable. When I was there, the sun was just about to set, and there were hundreds of sailboats in the bay, and the dog was starting to roll in over or thru the bridge towers. Simply beautiful. We actually spent the night in this 24 hrs rest stop and enjoyed the view in the morning with a cup of coffee. Definitely a great experience crossing the bridge and spending time looking at it from the Vista Point on the northside.
I crossed the Golden Gate Bridge not once but twice on my trip. It was truly an amazing experience. I recommend that anyone who visits San Francisco take the time to make the trip.
So scenic and beautiful place
.. one of the best places to visit in USA
It was beautiful, but I think they should have done a better job with signage for exactly when cyclists are allowed on the bridge. I think on weekends only pedestrians are allowed to cross the bridge on the walkway, but several cyclists/locals were still trying to do it and were not pleasant to the pedestrians/tourists.
The magic that happens when you're on the Golden Gate at sunset, facing the ocean, is an inexplicable experience of Goldeness indeed
The government minions are busy jacking up the toll. Talk about wealth redistribution:
Take from the hard working and give it to over paid, over pensioned.
Why do we still have tolls at all ??
Why aren't bridges just another piece of road??
Why are we paying people to sit in little smog filled rooms and be rude to drivers all day and night????
Lay them all off and put the money into paint, cones and such.....
The Golden Gate Bridge is truly awe inspiring. It is had not to be enthralled by this landmark and the work and years that went into constructing it and keeping it pristine despite millions of commuters crossing per year. When the San Francisco fog settles in, it is an ethereal sight
Biked the bridge with my adventurous 10-year-old nephew and then returned by ferry!
While it s a you have to say you ve been there destination, it s not amazing. We looked at it from the persidio side and the little park there is pretty gross - garbage, graffiti and homeless everywhere. Driving over it is just like driving in normal traffic in any city. So go but don t plan your whole day around it.
There are several vantage points for taking pictures with the Golden Gate. I highly recommend stopping down by the Fort-unless you dare the treacherous stairs on the other side of the hillside
It is very good place .. you can have a lot of perfect pics for you with different and crazy positions.
Nice views overlooking the city. Mountains in the background adds to it uniqueness
It's a beautiful bridge! The lanes are super narrow. Drive in the middle lane if it bothers you.
One of the best moments in my entire trip. The grandeur and scale of it is amazing. The surrounding water and hills give a picturesque view. Iconic
Plenty of pretty bridges in the world. This one is famous though.
I mean it's the Golden Gate Bridge, c'mon. It's awesome. I recommend taking an Uber or Lyft to the north side parking lot and walking back to the park on the south side.
I love that place the first time i went there it was awsome becase you get a great view of the enbarcadero but me being kind of scare of the hight if the brigdge that did not stop me from going its an awsome place to visit if you are around the bay area for vacation
Amazing place to go for a stroll suitable for all ages.
A wonder of engineering, however as the site denotes that now the Akashi of Kobe, Japan is the longest suspension bridge all over the world, less interesting than it, but the scenary around this bridge is incomparable to Japan's.
It's incorporated in 1828.links Napa and Sonoma valley with SFO.Munibus no 28 takes up to end point.round cafe is there to sit and sip coffee and to view tough iron bridge which almost remains covered in clouds.beautiful view from upside.one can walk through bridge and admire chilled breeze of Pacific ocean Alcatraz jail in mid of ocean and side view of SFO is amazing
Worth the visit!!! Amazing scenery!! Especially on a clear day!
The Golden Gate Bridge is iconic and huge. You can drive, bike or walk across!
There are quick free stops with good pictures of the bridge. Avoid the paid parking areas. There are also bathrooms at the lookout points.
Best way to feel the San Francisco. Go with good time. Feel the winds.
Beautiful! Such a magnificent thing standing there with all its glory, attracting so many tourists and visitors every day.. It's quite the favorite spot for many people, so weekdays before 5pm is the recommended time otherwise, there is trouble finding parking space .. but, it's a place you don't wanna cross off the bucket list.
While my wife an I were out getting some exercise by "Urban Hiking" we decided to walk to and across the Golden Gate. Something everyone should do. If you get to either pillar of the bridge from either side, the crowd thins out. The center walk way of the bridge is lightly crowded.
Fantastic walk across. Foggy. Windy. Watch out for bicycles.
Great easy walk out onto the bridge to enjoy great views of the bay.
Just love it but I hate the smell of pee almost everywhere.
It's the Golden Gate bridge, you never know what your experience may be. Covered in clouds coming from the mountains, sunny day, super windy when you walk it, night lights, City view, anytime any day your experience can change. Like nothing you've ever experienced.
It s great to visit in a sunny day! However, you still will enjoy the view even with cloud & mist around.... don t forget to bring your light jacket & camera!
This is just my opinion, but you have to put forth a lot of effort to not like this bridge. There s so many different places for good views on both sides of the day, and you can also walk or bike across the bridge. It is more than a landmark of the city, it s a national landmark.
The view the bridge, Alcatraz and everything in between just breath taking.
Really worth it to go to the view point. Easy access, plenty of parking and a view of SF and the Golden Gate bridge you won't get anywhere else.
Great views but be careful if you want to ride it, so do hundreds of other people
Iconic American span! Aside from the "golden" (reddish orange) color, the art deco elements that are evidence of the period it was constructed is a sight to be seen!
The View was absolutely amazing the only thing is the other bicyclers were driving really fast and for a new Rider it was kind of scary having them wisk by just know that the left lane is for oncoming bikes and the right lane is for you just like driving a car dont in the other lane or you could crash with someone
Historical Bridge. Must see when visiting San Francisco.
Great bicycle ride across the bridge and back what an awesome thing to do with a loved one
A must see on the American west coast. Try walking across the bride to the Marin headlands for great views of the city with the bridge and must have pictures/instas.
Must admit this bridge was so beautiful! WOW!! It was definitely crowded as it is a popular attraction. I must admit I was able to capture the scenery. Definitely a romantic spot! I recall seeing "Full House" back in the day and seeing the bridge. It's free! We got a parking spot but definitely scarce.
Our trip to Golden Gate Bridge is amazing. My kid really liked and inspired him to draw a picture of it. Its really marvel piece of modern technology.
Although its just a bridge, the sights are spectacular! From the water and scenery, the traffic on the bridge, everything is so full of life and energy!
Absolutely beautiful! Breathtaking view. Right across the bridge is Sausalito which is another gorgeous little city to visit. Great shops, view of San Francisco, and wonderful restaurants! A fantastic way to spend a day!!
Wonderful feat of engineering and architecture. An inspiring place to visit and learn.
Awesome place to spend an evening with friends and family.
You can enjoy by either walking or cycling across this bridge.
There are some mid points in this bridge where you can stop and enjoy the view without blocking the passers.
If you have car then better part either side of the bridge and take a walk.
A long bridge of industrial ages made from steel.
This site is usually very foggy. It took about 50 minutes to walk from one side to another. The view from the above over the sea is definitely remarkable.
Beware you have to encounter crowds of tourists .
One of our planets greatest marvels. I felt like I was part of attempt to connect the world just by walking a studying this architectural masterpiece.
Truly one of the most unique spots to visit in all of the United States. Breathtaking views and you will be astounded by the towering size of the bridge. One of the things that you must do if you ever visit San Francisco. Guaranteed for some picturesque moments and memories.
Really great day. Dress for cold weather no matter what, it get so windy out there. Takes a bit longer than expected, we hired bikes to ride across which was super fun. It ended up taking around 2 hours. The direction of bikes changes at certain times, that was a little confusing figuring out which way to go but makes sense once you get there.
Incredible place to walk, jog, cycle and people watch. Views are fantastic. Gets really crowded on weekends and in good weather, but that shouldn't deter you from checking it out.
The day I visited it was cool, cloudy and threatened rain. Although when I arrived the top of the bridge was covered by clouds it soon cleared so we could see the whole bridge.
There are plenty of accessable viewing areas to see the bridge at different angles and elevations.
The welcome center has lots of souvenirs and even rain ponchos should it rain and prices are decent given the tourism nature of the location.
Washrooms are cleaned regularly and are plentiful for the amount of tourists that come and go.
Be sure to pay attention and look toward downtown San Francisco, you can get a great view at the highest elevation up near the cafe and the flag.
I'm glad that I got so spend a few hours there.
Overall the walk felt very long, compared to the drive. 99% of the time there is too much fog to see the bridge itself, which is a shame. Walking it is still a great experience and I think you should just do it. Is it amazing? No. Is it worth your time? Kind of. Do I recommend doing it? Yes.
Beautiful. Make sure you paid the toll as soon as possible, cost $8 but if you don't, extra fee of $50.
