The hotel staff was fantastic addressing any need we had and accommodating a few special requests. The room was spacious and well maintained. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an overnight stay in midtown, as it is very conveniently located.

Beautiful place, but don t plan on getting a good night s sleep. The walls are paper thin and requesting a quiet room is not an option. Was placed next to a loud group of guys and hotel staff were unhelpful and condescending when I called to ask what could be done. I understand if rooms are full we cannot be moved, but making any attempt to help, or at the very least show consideration is the standard at any hotel worth staying at.

I stayed for 6 nights, was upgraded to a bigger room on arrival. The hotel is very conveniently located with the empire State building with 5min walk and time sqaure and Central Park 15-20 min walks. The service was really good with really nice and smiling staff.

Nice hotel but personnel working in the bar did not provide the same high level of service as other employees. We we're in a suite on the same floor as a college basketball ball team and were awakened very early by coaching staff banging on players doors giving them wake-up calls. We would get back to sleep only to have the door banging and shouting of "wake up call" begin again.

It is a nice hotel and it is in a great location. The issue that I have is with the staff. Normally I'm not picky about the staff but the uppity attitude and the lack of customer service threw me over the edge! The person at the concierge desk on multiple occasions was very rude with giving us directions and ideas of places to go. Of all the places to go in New York City and they only recommend places in Grand Central Station I mean come on! The check-in staff was friendly but I kept on getting conflicting information from then each time I talk to them. And lastly the cost of the hotel was high for what it is and what you get

My husband and i just got back from our 4 day stay at the intercontinental for our anniversary and I could honestly say that our stay was not even close to feeling like a vacation. Firstly, our sheets were dirty on two separate occasions, secondly my husband had called down to guest services at 11:30pm for a dental kit over 5 times (mind you, they ended up bringing it up at around 3am), and some of the staff were extremely rude over the phone and unprofessional throughout our stay. Lastly, while checking out at the front desk we saw bogus charges which we were also promised a $25 credit to any food/beverages daily throughout our stay which upon checking out the lady at the front desk denied any sort of promise. Save yourself the hassle and go to another hotel in the area.

Room looked nice, people were nice. Hallways looked recently restored. However, inside our room the hallway was incredibly loud. Also had to track down a sewage smell in our room. It appeared to be our pillows any time we pressed on them. Yeah. Kinda gross!

Stayed here for 6 nights. Location is not bad. However, they could use some work on cleanliness. Room was dusty. There was residue under the items on the washroom and in the cups. Ironing board had a weird smell to it. Rooms are also not very soundproof. You can hear voices from the next room. Also there is no water offered in the lobby which I thought was pretty standard among most hotels these days.

Had a fairly terribly experience at the Intercontinental Barclay. Check-in was a bit if a disaster. We were told our room had a "rush" put on it. Then waited 2hours. Followed up with the front desk. Only to find out the room had been ready for an hr and we just never received a call. Was supposed to receive a 'Welcome Bag' from the bride&groom upon checkin. Of which wasn't able to enjoy or take advantage of until After coming back to the room to go to sleep. Was also treated Very rudely at the bar/restaurant at breakfast the next morning. Sat down to eat with a hour left before breakfast closed and was Immediately presented with the check. Was then asked if I could settle up about 5mins after the check was brought out. Basically was made to feel I wasn't welcome there despite being a paying guest if the hotel. Wouldn't stay here again. Staff was overall very inattentive and rude.

In terms of location and property quality, the hotel is certainly 5 stars. However, their status recognition is a bit iffy. I'm an Ambassador, and was placed in a tiny room next to the elevators on a low floor with no view. The room was supposedly an upgrade, but I find that a little hard to believe. Also, they did not proactively provide an Ambassador welcome amenity. I had to call up and ask where it was, and only then was I offered one. On the flip side, after complaining about my noisy neighbors, I was moved to a larger room on one of the highest floors. I would stay again, but I feel that the hotel should strive to pay more attention to detail.

Awesome hotel, it is not dated I would consider it classy, and classy has no set date to expire as far as I know. The service is great, the restaurants inside are delicious, and room service is great. The rooms were cleaned daily and the bed was very comfortable. What else could you ask for?

I stayed at the Barclay this week twice. The rooms were fine, but I had a very nasty experience with the reception desk. A man named Chris was patronizing, rude and generally unhelpful. I checked in both times very late at night, so I don't expect much other than efficiency and perhaps pleasantness. From Chris I got neither. Worse, at check out, we had been charged for an iPad plug in the minibar. We hadn't taken it, just lifted it out of its receptacle in the minibar to see what it cost ($35). My wife told Chris that and he said "That's why we don't touch things." JERK. My wife is a 43 year old woman, I wouldn't talk to my 11 year old that way let alone with a grown woman. The location and renovations made me satisfied with my stay, but Chris is not who I would want as the face of my business.

In terms of benefits as well as services, the Intercontinental Barclay is establishing itself as a benchmark establishment. Spacious and very clean room with qualified, attentive and professional staff, a big thumbs up to its General Manager Sofia Vandaele.

Staying at the Intercontinental Barclay Hotel was such an enjoyable experience! The staff was very courteous, friendly, and extremely helpful! The decor and overall environment was very luxurious, lots of room, and extremely elegant!
The room was very clean, updated, comfortable, well-furnished, and very comfortable! The bathroom was impeccable! The hotel is a very short walk from Grand Central, and close to Rockefeller Center! Lots of great Steakhouses and Restaurants very close by (would recommend checking out Bobby Vans!).
I would highly recommend staying at the Intercontinental Barclay Hotel - regardless of whether you are in the city for a day, a weekend, or a week!

I am a sucker for anything from the 20s. The renovation they did sent them back into the 20s. Great Gin parlour downstairs. Rooms are roomy but sophisticated. Tough location to get to but worth it.
