Absolutely amazing! One of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in. Central located for shops, bars, restaurants etc. Friendly staff, rooms have everything you need. There is the most amazing aroma when you arrive & you are greeted by friendly staff. It's spotlessly clean & the bar area is comfortable & relaxing. We'll definitely stay here again

Staff are rude, don't have the rooms that you booked and paid for. Moved to smaller odd rooms and told it was done as compensation. Poor communication between staff, some of which need better customer service training most notably Francesca. Rather stay else where than here!

Location is great and the hotel is beautiful. Rooms are small and dark, eith minimal upgrades for Royal Ambassador. They have said they won't wave the resort fees for RA, either (even though IC Times Square does)

Room cleaning not done particularly well. $30 per day forced fee for drinks/breakfast. I m in New York, I m going to explore the place. To make use of the money took Coca Cola and orange juice out the fridge, 21 dollars for that. Not replenished to then paying for no reason. When you are pricing up the hotel remember to add $30 per night fee, adds up. Not impressed.

First time staying at the Barclay. It s an older hotel but well maintained. It s convenient to Times Square and the theatre district with being able to walk to both locations within about 15 minutes. Close to the hotel is an underground tunnel which allows you to walk to the Grand Central Station. Be warned that the tunnel isn t open 24x7. We purchased the club access which included breakfast, an afternoon snack and between 5-8 pm included light snacks and beer and wine along with soda and water. The bathrooms are pretty small but we did expect that due to the age of the hotel. We had no issues with our stay.

We had to wait quite awhile for our room. Rooms are small (I mean it's new york), and they don't even give you mugs on your room, they give you flimsy paper cups. Wouldn't recommend this hotel, you can find a better hotel in this price range. Not ideal for families.

Great location in Manhattan, close to the Rockfeller center, 5th avenue, Central Station and the Chrysler Building. The hotel is very charming and very busy with tourists from all over the world and from the United States itself.
Strengths are the bed, very good indeed, cleanliness, housekeeping and location. The breakfast buffet is good, but very expensive compared to nearby places such as Fresch & Co and the hotel's own coffee maker which is fantastic. It was worth the experience.

Absolutely amazing! This hotel is brilliant in beds, standards, performance and well-being. It shows great promise and determination when suiting it's guests. The prices are a little high and aren't particularly the best areas of the hotel. But, you get what you pay for. The beds are the best because they have an outstanding balance in comfort and hardness. Hopefully it's the same with you guys!

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE/ BILLING EXPERIENCE!

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE/ BILLING EXPERIENCE!

Stayed at this hotel for one night. Was delivered room service that I did not order. As soon as I was aware of the charge, I called from my room to the front desk and the restaurant told me that I would not be charged. Not only was I charged four days later for the amount, but it has taken me 10 calls to finally get it reversed. Now, instead of being refunded for the amount I have been CHARGED an EXTRA $100! I have spoken to several managers, client services and managers of the restaurant and everyone says that they will call me back. It has been three days, 11 phone calls and 4 hours of problem after problem! They have still not been able to fix it.

Expected more from a 4-Star Manhattan hotel. We stayed here for a week.

Things we did not like: Mini fridge completely full of alcohol w/ sensors - would have liked more/ some room for our own things. No tea options in room and no water kettle* in room (we're Asian) just a bulky Krueig (spelling?) machine w/ weak coffee options. Bedside table drawer was half full with discarded pamphlets, wet plastic bag, and other random. Called a few times for additional clean glasses and services without response/ delivery.

Things we liked: Location was fantastic, close to GCS, Subway, etc. Close to Midtown touristy things (Broadway, museums, TS) without being in the center of the chaos. *We were able to get an electric water kettle (but no tea). Bed was very comfortable. Nice and quiet room (some street noise, we're city people, this did not bother us).

Very bad. We arrived that they had canceled our reservation for no reason as they had also been paid. We contacted the agency that fixed everything. Too bad that after a few days they didn't let us know anything. Then we contact our agency that sends us an e-mail from the hotel manager in which he says that for the inconvenience they would have made us gadgets. Instead they gave us nothing. Avoid it

I've been here before their renovation and now back after their renovation. It is now very nice and rooms are roomy and clean. I love the colonial style throughout the hotel.

The only thing they need to work on in order to get 5 stars is their people. Being a Gold member of the IHG chain, I don't receive the same courtesy as other IHG hotels, receptionist was doing bare minimum even though there was no queue.

BEWARE Any complaints or Issues brought to Hotels attention, in ALL likelihood, WILL NOT BE ADDRESSED or FOLLOWED Up upon.
EXTREMELY POOR MANAGEMENT!Given the rate of $375 per night, the Front Desk personnel have no desire or understanding to correct any deficiencies We brought to their attention. One had a very Snippy attitude. Housekeeping could not replenish the in room bar even after 3 request. Gave one housekeeper $12 to do so, on 4th try, to no avail.
Housekeeping failed to replenish even the complimentary fruit, leaving the old fruit and utensils still in room on day 3. No replacement of even a light bulb! Sad!
Lazy employees
Failures to follow through on any issue.
Management still has yet to call us after leaving 2 messages.
Accommodations for ADA, request are a Joke. They fail to comprehend.
Never to stay @ this Location again!
Better service @ Motel 6, perhaps.
To funny, but also, maybe true.

Warm welcome by a friendly staff and the anniversary cake on the table in our room. In general, very clean and modern hotel.

The only downside was that we could easily hear our neighbours watching a TV, and people walking down the hall. The walls and doors are extremely thin and you can hear everything- not a great option if you can t be disturbed.

250 dollars. All American standard! Great hotel in Manhattan, breakfast 50 dollars. Expensive, but ... eaten from the Japanese in the market against, all the same blueberries, watermelons, melons for $ 11.

This hotel was very elegant in a non-flashy way. I don't think I have seen a better Hotel staff anywhere. It's the kind of place where staff who meets you the day before remembers your name and greets you in the lobby. Even the housekeeping staff were a step above what you would see another properties. The rooms were elegant yet understated. Live jazz in the lobby every night was a nice touch. I've never had a better Hotel Concierge than Adrian. If you're staying here make sure to look him up.

Well, it's pretty, I'll give you that, but I wouldn't come here if you actually want to sleep. The heat isn't enabled in mid-October, and there is a god-awful industrial screeching from 6:30-??? (at least 7:30) even on weekend mornings, and even when you request a quiet room. Also, if you don't turn on the heat, at least provide thick blankets. Pro tip. Oh, and the TVs and WiFi are low quality.

came for the holiday season with the family with Virgin Holidays, you will need a credit card for security tax of around $500 and hope you don't get charged...we did not thank god but was a surprise to us when checking in. But the room was great, cant complain with the view from the window as we was on the 5th floor and its NYC so the view is other buildings. Maybe the hotel needs to upgrade the windows as you can hear the traffic below. Staff where nice and polite and helped you when needed. would come back here in the future.

In my travels, I like to stay at Intercontinental Hotels, this one was nice, small and clean but if you want the total customer service experience, this is not the place. Don't get me wrong people were nice but you can tell that's not what they wanted to be. They seemed tired and out of patience. Perhaps it was the weather (so cold). Room service was astronomically expensive, $200 bucks for 3 burgers and 3 ice creams, but that's my fault for ordering it. The Concierge seemed inconvenienced by my asking questions of activities in NYC. She was still nice but gave me the impression she was annoyed by it all. We compared it a lot to the Intercontinental Hotel in San Francisco where the customer service was superb. You felt very welcome there and it just added to the whole experience. So I think that if the hotel personnel would have been slightly nicer and welcoming, I would have given this hotel 4 stars. The location is great, very convenient, it is not one of those massive hotels so it feels inviting, it's tasteful, the hallways are quiet so you can sleep without disruption but it just missed that one element. The price was good for a NYC hotel so now that I know what to expect in the sense of people, I would probably consider staying there again but not expect anything from them and therefore not be disappointed, when it comes to customer service.

Reception, bell staff, bar is all good food is quite good. Restaurant is small and service slow and miserable. Housekeeping is equivalent to a 2* hotel, just awful and spoils what could be a lovely pleace

I am not one to write scathing reviews since I prefer to focus on the positive, but what we experienced at this hotel is nothing short of criminal. My husband and I travel fairly extensively, both domestically and internationally, and have stayed at a good number of hotels, inns, resorts, etc. Although I've read reviews similar to the one below, I never imagined something like this would happen to us.

We booked four rooms nearly four months in advance. The rooms were booked directly through the hotel's website at the pre-paid, non-refundable rate and our card was charged at the time of booking for the entire rate of nearly $3,000, including taxes.

Upon our arrival, we were asked for ID and credit card....typical check-in procedure and we expected a charge pending for incidentals perhaps in the amount of a couple hundred dollars. However, our card was run without so much as an explanation in advance as to what was being charged and after the card was run, we were told "oops...I didn't realize your reservations were pre-paid...but the charge will be reversed at check-out". Tired from travel and anxious to get on our way, we made it up to our rooms. Since we were were not given a copy of our check-in paperwork, my husband checked his card and found a charge of nearly $2,000 was pending! He immediately went back to the lobby and spoke with a manager who said he would see what he could do to get the charge reversed and call us. We felt confident that the issue would be resolved and went about our day. We got no call and the next day, not only was the charge not reversed, but a new charge of $300 was pending from the hotel. Back down we go to talk to a manager and are told that the $300 charge is a daily charge for incidentals. As I mentioned, we travel fairly frequently and have never been subject to DAILY charges for incidentals to the tune of $200-$300 (not even sure how they arrived at the different amounts). After my husband explained that they were already tying up nearly $2,000 of his funds due to their error, this manager (yet another one...we spoke to a different one every day) assured him that he would work on getting the charges reversed and put a hold on any additional charges to our card. Day three: $200 charge to our card for daily incidentals and another talk with a different manager. On day four (the day before our departure), upon speaking with yet another manager and after much debate and disagreement, we were offered a $400 room credit for our inconvenience. Upon checkout, not only was there no $400 room credit, they wanted us to sign off on a charge of over $450 for our bar tab and breakfast (which we only charged to use up the $400 credit we were told we would have). We refused to sign anything and told them we would be contesting all charges. When we checked our account at the airport, there were yet another two charges for $25 and $9, which we can only assume they will contend are for mini-bar or other room charges although we used nothing from the mini-bars (didn't even open them) and never ordered room service, etc.

None of the "managers" was competent, helpful, accommodating or apologetic. By the time we checked out, over $2,500 in charges were pending, meaning those funds were not available to us during our trip, for rooms that we had pre-paid for in full nearly four months in advance. We are working with our bank to contest the charges (great way to come home from what was supposed to be a fun family weekend trip).

Please be aware! I am not exaggerating or over embellishing...I cannot even express how disgusted we are by our experience with this hotel. There are plenty of reputable hotels in NYC and we will never stay at this hotel or any other Intercontinental hotel and we will go out of our way to dissuade anyone from even considering staying with them. I am ashamed to have to give them one star.
