I had friends visiting NYC with a baby and the reception and kitchen staff were very helpful and made their stay very special. The bar, is overpriced beyond typical NYC markups, though. $25 (without tip) for a Kettle One Martini.

This is the quietest hotel that I ve ever stayed at, let alone in the middle of NYC! The location is perfect, the service is out of this World and the bar staff know how to roll out the red carpet for guests to make them feel valued. Sorry for eating so much of your truffle popcorn by the way but it goes so well with a delicious Belgian Moon.

Special shoutout to Peter Solis who helped us checkout. It was seamless and Peter knows how to complete a premium customer experience.

Bathroom not as clean as expected. Mini bar not restocked so the $25 dollar free drinks is useless. Couldn't phone for assistance anywhere in hotel as nobody picked up, then the phone died. Phoned from my cell to be told too short staffed to restock minibars on a saturday. I couldn't have contacted a soul even if jack the ripper was in my room. Dreadful service from what was once a great hotel!

The most gorgeous looking hotel in a great location. The lobby is large and well decorated and wonderful to sit and have a drink. The staff are without exception all helpful and friendly, with a special shout out to Adrian, the concierge who was extra helpful to us. The room was perfect. I wouldn't stay anywhere else on my return to New York.

We walked into the Intercontinental Barclay after midnight on June 28, after having our flight at LaGuardia delayed for six hours and eventually cancelled. We were fairly worn out and tired looking, being that it was one a.m. after a long airport delay. The lobby of the hotel was beautiful, but the front desk clerk was snobby and rude. It was clear that he did not want weary travelers in his hotel, as he hardly spoke a word to us. He didn't even lay his eyes on us once, as if his mind would be spoiled by the sight of tired LaGuardia rejects. We attempted to lighten to mood, but the clerk only scoffed when we made a little joke about getting the corporate rate. We finally received the room keys without any guidance as to where the room or elevators were, but we managed to find our room with a little navigation. However, it must be said that the hotel is very beautiful. The rooms and hallways are tastefully designed; you feel like you are in a palace. If it were not for Stodgy Front Desk Guy, this hotel would deserve five stars.

The Destination fee is a total scam. They charge a mandatory fee of 30$ per day promising credits for two services (F&B and laundry). Yet the services are not available. For instance, the maid did not pick up the laundry despite having put it in the appropriate bag with the appropriate form completely filled, resulting in us losing the 15$ daily laundry credit. When I broght up this with a manager the only answer i got was you agreed to the destination fee when you made the reservation, so you must pay it even if the services are not available . No apologies. Don t stay here. Find a place with a friendlier management and that, most importantly, doesn t charge you for services that you cannot really access.
