Stayed for 6 days and 5 nights in January. The property is absolutely beautiful! We upgraded to the over the water bungalow and it was well worth the stay!
The room was recently renovated and in great condition! The view from the room was breathtaking!
Our favorite part was jumping off the patio to snorkel in the small lagoon!

We love this resort! We are right next to the dolphins and can see the turtle rehabilitation lagoon! The over water bungalow is amazing and this is true paradise! Of course the food and drinks cost a pretty penny but this resort is worth it! And my husband and i totally reccomend renting a car for the day and driving around the island!

Magnificent resort with the presence of dophins and turtles, very beautiful vegetation. The view of the lagoon amazed us. The pool was very nice at the end of the day .. the room in the building part was large and the bed very comfortable. I thank the staff who were very attentive to make this stay unforgettable ...

This experience just wasn't as good our other tips to similar locations. After a long flight to the Island it took them forever to make a room ready (we waited for over 5 hours- they are very strict and unaccomodating if your only flight options put you on the island early). The excursions were the worst, English website, English brochure, no English during the "tour". We actually tried to cancel or redirect the funds of our second excursion to something like the spa, or even a restaurant after we had a bad experience on our first one, but because we booked ahead of time we were going to lose half the cost (which I wish we would have done anyways). It was incredibly unpleasant knowing we were wasting precious vacation island time on what they called "the best tour we offer" when renting a scooter or a little boat would heve been much better. I can't recommend the intercontinental, but if you do go, be sure to walk up the hill to the holy steak house, it was lovely, the top dive shop was very hospitable as well.

I feel very saddened to write this review. I was really hoping that some of the negative reviews here were just exceptions. However, I experienced very inconsistent service for the short duration of my trip. Most of this stemmed from the dining experience. We luckily decided to eat dinner early at the Fare Hana and were the only customers. We ordered and received our food very quickly. When my wife wanted to order dessert, the restaurant was getting a steady stream of diners and that's where things really began to suffer. We received the dessert menu, but a waiter never came by to take our order for over half an hour. There were customers sitting next to us who did not even get there dinner orders taken, so we were considered lucky. We decided to give up on dessert and take a stroll around the property. Upon walking by the restaurant, we found 2 of dessert menus still on our table with our half used napkins. No one had come by to check, it seems. When I gave the receptionist a heads up, he claimed that they were busy with the Wednesday themed dinner. This does not add up considering that our restaurant looked extremely busy and they simply did not have the staff to keep up.

We experienced the same type of slow response during breakfast service, but not as bad as dinner. It's also a bit more understandable that we were ordering ala carte. My whole consensus is that this property is inconsistent with Intercontinental Tahiti and other IHG properties. It made me really wonder if the IHG group should downgrade this property to a lower ranking in the IHG group.

Pros:
- 1 hour free kayak, paddleboard
- Unlimited use of snorkel set
- Calm water around the lagoon makes it ideal for recreational swimmers and children.
- Beautiful surroundings, with the right attention this property could really shine.
- Close to Holy Steak restaurant, walk right across the street.

Cons:
- Missed our housekeeping on one of the days.
- Slow dining service
- Very poorly kept gym, the floor is a converted bungalow and if you drop it a weight, the floor is not padded.
- Many areas are often unstaffed, we walked by the front desk one evening without a single receptionist available. This also happened at the bell desk.

Great hotel! Very nice and beautiful.. but ZERO ethical mindset. They will sell you that they keep dolphins to take care of them. This is wrong, they are just another way to make money. This is awful. They have barely enough space / deepness to swim for dolphin their sizes. They are exploited to please hotel customers who have No ethics and don t mind the disastrous living conditions of the dolphins. Absolutely disgracious.

Well deserved 4 star rating. There is a small room for improvement, and like many other hotels on Tahiti, this one is on need of remodeling. Examples for this need are numerous and there is no need to go in detail. Service is of truly 5 star hotel. Staff will leave no stone unturned to find away to assist you. Modernization of the entire property will leave the hotel without competition. Location of the hotel is good as well.

Wow is this place meh. Expected so much more. Beach was gross. Boats anchored close by ruining tranquility of bay. Sea cucumbers invade the shallows so impossible to walk without stepping on. Not great beach experience. Spa services astronomically over priced compared to other restorts on the islamd. Some just down the street (Hilton). I have traveled all over the South Pacific for new years. I've never paid more than $150 for a Nye party and most don't charge more than the regular dinner experience. The NYE party at Intercontinental was $275?!? Ftw?! Seriously? Just wow.

The staff here are amazing and super friendly! I want to give a shout out and big a thank you to the guest relations manager, Axelle! She was super friendly and helped us have the best possible honeymoon we could get. She was really patient with my various requests and questions and never stopped smiling! Thank you so very much Axelle! I also want to thank the concierge, Christeen for also being super helpful! She helped us understand the different activities and make our decision. I strongly recommend the ATV activity as the views are gorgeous! She recommended it and it was a great recommendation. Everyone in this hotel from the manager to the waitresses to everyone else are always smiling and greeting you. We absolutely loved our stay here and I strongly recommend it to everyone. We stayed in both a beach bungalow and an overwater bungalow and both were amazing! Thank you to everyone here!

Beautiful resort at a beautiful location.

Beautiful resort at a beautiful location.
Our room 510 is a true over the water bungalow. Perfect location to be away from most. A little bit of a long walk, but they will always give you a ride just ask. The room has a king bed with a couch that could be turned into a bed. Coffee maker , and a mini refrigerator. They supply you with a complementary large bottle of water per day. The deck was great because it had a shaded area that would keep you dry if it was raining. Mostly kept me out of the sun, but there was deck area to use the lounge chairs to sun yourself. Air conditioner worked great and they also had ceiling fans. Always hot water for the shower. The shower was open to the tub, but I loved the openness. Two sinks and a private toilet closet. The wifi was complimentary and worked well at the room. Not many TV channels in English. They were doing some construction renovations but it really didn't impact us. The only restuarant open was Hana Fare . The menu was limited if you didn't want fish, but had lots of vegetarian options. Some of the food was great, ie tuna sashimi, the swordfish steak was thin and over cooked. My shrimp dish was cooked perfectly. Hit or miss. Breakfast was good and plenty of choices. The employees seem very nice and happy to help. I had some difficulty in checking in to the Air Tahiti site because it was in French. The gentleman at the front help guide me and get our documents printed out. The only little things are the finishes are not a 5 star, but this is a 4 star resort. I was not disappointed in any way and my dream vacation was fulfilled.

The Intercontinental hotel on Moorea has 3 dolphins living in captivity. I have heard a few reasons why they are being held there. We went to have a look and it was heart breaking. They do not have enough space to swim around and most of the space they have is quite shallow. Just over their fences there is a huge lagoon but they are being denied the amount of space any dolphin needs to swim and play. The whole 30mins we were there the dolphins were swimming along the fences, clearly looking for a breach to squeeze through. The hotel is using the dolphins to make money off ignorant tourists who believe this is a once in a life time experience. They claim that the dolphins won't survive in the wild, how do they expect 3 dolphins to survive in a shallow pool?? There is so much water around the Intercontinental hotel but it is all reserved for the guests to do there snorkelling in a safe environment. It is not right that such majestic, intelligent and smart creatures have to live in such a condition. Something needs to be done about this, there should be a bit more awareness about the dolphins being kept at the Intercontinental hotel on Moorea.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The breakfast buffet was good with many options. There are no over water bungalows, but you do have a platform to jump off into the warm waters and return. The water is deeper by our room and plenty of fish stingrays and sharks that don't harm you to see.

This place is incredible! After reading a few negative reviews I wasn t sure what to expect. The soft product is a 10. The staff was incredible. Fred at the front desk upgraded us to a beach villa upon arrival just for being IHG members. The lobby is gorgeous and the rooms have an authentic Tahitian feel. It s clear they have been maintained and updated throughout the years. The only downside about the hard product is the over the water villas are not true over the water villas. They are more like beach villas with a porch over the water. For me I was happily surprised after reading some of the reviews. 5 stars all the way intercontinental Moorea

We had a fantastic stay at one of their beach front bungalows and loved every minute of it. There was construction going on but it was only by the front desk area, away from the beach front bungalows. The room was very clean. We did the seafood buffet and show one night and it was awesome, the dancers did a great job! The breakfast buffet was fantastic! The staff was extremely friendly, especially one of the concierge s, Pierre, he went above and beyond to help answer every question we had about activities and gave us his undivided attention. I would highly recommend this gorgeous hotel!

Very disappointing hotel. We had booked a beach villa which was not really on the beach but on a small stream of water with a small man made sandy portion made to look like a beach. The water also looked very dirty and uninviting. There seems to be a general feeling from the earlier reviews that the hotel is deceptive in this regard when it comes to Description of their rooms as the Overwater Bungalows were also not really fitting the description. The entire resort was also generally very very dirty. Our room which was rather an expensive room was very very shabby at best. At the pool there were no towels. No one to help get towels (very poor at such an expensive hotel) and the only way to get the towels was to walk into the beach and get it from a hut.
The maintenance of the hotel was the poorest I have seen for any premium hotel in the world. From the buildings and the villas to the gardens which looked totally unkempt and uncared for. Some sections didn't even look properly watered, which is saying a lot in a tropical country.

An argument can also me made for the dolphin enclosure being unethical. It clearly was very very tiny and shallow for what is an ocean going animal.

Overall possibly the most disappointing hotel I have stayed in for a long time.

Nice luxurious hotel. The staff is very sweet and helpful. You have a lot of activities that you can do. For example: stand up paddle, canoe, dolphins watching and swimming, gym, massages, turtles clinic.etc
In the evening the are special diner shows and events. The sunset is breathtaking:)

Great hotel. Free Kaiaks and stand up paddle for 1 hour.
Crossing the road you can have lunch and dinner at the Holy steakhouse. Or buy stuff on the grocery store.
Everything is too expensive, from drinks to meals in the hotel.

The hotel did not want to trade us dinner for lunch when it accepted for another client !!! Is it at the head of the customer ?!
Nice hotel and porter staff and restaurant all quite pleasant

Can I give them 0?

Horrible customer service, horrendous rooms; not to mention the rooster on my patio and no privacy.
I m here right now and miserable, debating whether to fly out earlier and just wash the $ spent on this hotel.
The room is full of mosquitos and the pictures on the website are all a facade. The bathroom is dingy and the toilet is broken. When I politely called to complain to switch rooms they said it was only possible for the next day and for tonight the best they can do is just spray my room down with repellant; when I asked about the side effects of the spray on humans - pretty sure she didn t know what that meant.
Rude manager.
Pool is full of kids splashing and dropping ice cream.
Advice - don t book this hotel

I stayed there while there was a strike and even though some services were limited I still felt taken care of and the staff was very helpful. Could see all sorts of sea life on the grounds including sharks, rays, and turtles in the wild.

The decision to come here, took awhile to plan and sacrifices were made, but it was worth it, this is only day two, i woke up at 0430 waited to see the sunrise walked over to see the dolphins, they came up and wasted no time giving me a hello back, then i went for breakfast, which was phenomenal every thing was awesome, the omelette i had was spot on, today is day 2. Life is for living not just existing... Go live.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the IC Moorea. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by the front desk staff and were shown to our room early. The room was large, clean and had a nice view of the private beach and pool. Despite being close to the activities it was very quiet and peaceful even when we were sitting on our porch. The AC kept our room comfy and cool! We had several dinners at the hotel and they were all delicious!! The front desk has a great 1 mile loop lap around the property for running and walking!! I would definitely stay here again!!

Very nice 4 star property with great lagoon. Has turtles and dolphins. Cleanliness above average but had ant and smell problems in bungalow. Service however is extremely slow. Much slower than even island time. 2 stars for poor service. Must be very patient if you decide to stay here. Overall 3 star property.

To sum up our stay in one word, Terrible. This is one of the worst hotels we've ever stayed in and we travels quite a bit, both for work and holiday. As we arrived, on Mo'orea, we hadn't been contacted by the hotel with regards to transportation from the ferry terminal, but we thought there would be someone from the hotel there, but alas, that was not the case. There are very few taxis on the island, so your best bet is to rent a car. We were lucky enough to get the last car the Avis office across the road from the ferry terminal. Considering it's over half an hour drive to the hotel from the ferry terminal, at least a paid transit option ought to be offered by a four start hotel. Once we arrived at the hotel, none of the staff offered to help with our bags. Once we had checked in, someone did help take the bags to our room. Our room was very old and worn, but the worst part was the smell in the bathroom, as it stunk like a public toilet and got worse during our stay. The water pressure in the shower/bath was not even to have a good wash. The AC had simply I-II-III knob, which meant room was cold, colder or freezing. The only good thing in the room was the firm mattress. The food in the resorts restaurants was outright terrible. I ordered their "top seller" the first night and the meat was like shoe leather. My side of "mashed" potato was a bowl of rather large lumps of potato. My partners grilled octopus consisted of a single tentacle, hardly worth the price and it wasn't cooked particularly well either and her rice was under-cooked. The included breakfast buffet was terrible, with flies everywhere. The quality of the food was so sub-par that we've had better breakfasts in $30 per night hotels in Asia. As for the hotel grounds, the ocean looks nasty, as the bottom is covered in a layer of grey muck and garbage. Their dolphin pool isn't deep enough for the poor animals and there was exactly zero staff at hand when we walked over to have a look. The turtle "rescue" center looked more like a torture center, with one of the larger turtles banging its head against the fence trying to get out. The only positive part of the resort was the rather large and well kept swimming pool, but it's not the one thing a resort should stand out for. If you're thinking about staying here, consider the Hilton instead, as we went there for lunch one day and it was a much nicer resort. Also don't miss out Holy Steak across the road, it's the best dining option within walking distance from the hotel. Overall, this was a truly terrible stay.

Friendliness, is what distinguishes this hotel. Good food. Comfortable rooms Excellent place to see multicolored fish at low depth. You can see dolphins and sea turtles. They offer several excursions.

The staff does a good job balancing the diverse range of clientele from different countries. The expansive grounds are beautiful, more enjoyable than ptoperty in Tahiti. My partner and I were visiting for an adventure trip while many USA couples looked to be on honeymoon. Many islanders traveling a short distance brought children.
