Awesome shelter doing great things for animals in the community. Go check it out and adopt or volunteer!
Friendly staff, amazing shelter wherr all the animals have their own room, and kids programs!
WONDERFUL FACILITY ANF GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! THANK YOU THANK YOU
Very nice and clean facility. We did not adopt any animals here but the staff are always friendly. Adoption fees are higher compares to San Mateo and East Bay. Our female maltepom were spayed here recently and everything went well. Post surgery healed as expected.
It was very good no problems adopting and nice peats
You will want to take all of them HOME !!!!
CLEAN & DRY, PETS ARE ALL in GOOD HEALTH!!!!
I took my pup in to get neutered and they were extremely attentive to all my questions and concerns. I docked a star because I didn't feel like they made an effort to make my pup feel comfortable. He was extremely shy and anxious the entire time which kept me worried throughout the day. Procedure went well though, so that's my only suggestion.
Beautiful shelter and friendly staff. They do a lot of good work here.
Wonderful, helpful, loving volunteers see to guests and take loving, attentive care of the animals. Clean, comfortable accommodations for creatures, with plenty of TLC for even mildly special cases like my forever-cat Nyx.
This is a great place to go after work on the weekends if you want to look at pets. In particular dogs or cats. They have some other animals as well. You don't have to feel pressured into adopting. You can simply be there to provide the pets some human stimulation. Some of them look really sad while others look really happy to see people stop by.
This place has animals of all sizes and moods for families of all sizes and moods. I was very fortunate to find a mean SOB in the form of an 8.5lb mini pinscher and Chihuahua mix who barked for twenty minutes before we could put a collar on him. Over the last two years together he's settled down and while bringing more to life, while still being as obsessed with gross smells as ever.
Thank you HHSV for helping me find my dumb and lovely and funny dog.
Very nice and helpful people on a low income and I had my Chihuahua and my pitbull they spay them for free very helpful people
This used to be a place that cared about animals under the old CEO from what I hear, but all I've seen is an organization that cares about profits and moving animals. They adopt out for free when there are too many just to get the animals off their hands, not very selectively mind you; they don't seem to give that much care whose incompetent or abusive hands the animal may end up in. Can't be selective when there's such abundance! I realize it's a fine line to walk in being selective, but they really no longer know of its existence. I don't see anything humane about that. And the people in the organization that do care simply get shut up, how dare they ask any questions or raise concerns.
There were a few complications and miscommunications concerning microchips, but if you have any concerns they will reach out to you. If you run into any issues they are more than willing to listen and explain what happened. They care about the people and dogs who come in here and I really appreciate that they contacted me when I was upset.
This is a very well maintained shelter and they place the highest emphasis on animal care and well-being. The staff and volunteers are dedicated to the rescue efforts and make the adoption process easy and comfortable.
No better place to bring a new friend into your life. Absolutely gorgeous shelter and amazing staff.
This place is pretty big and there's a decent amount of selections in animals. The volunteers are very attentive and gave really good advice. I liked how they also had a classroom area on one side of the building. The parking here is a bit cramped though. There's two rows that are designated for workers.
Awsome place perfect to adopt a companion cat or dog!
We had to rehome our dog, they provided very compassionate service , made sure we were all comfortable saying our goodbye, didn't villainizing us for the tough call we had to make. Thanks for finding lily a great home.
Our cat got taken to this location yesterday. Because he had a chip in him, they were able to contact us. However, we waited for 30 + minutes while the gal tried to figure out how to process the paperwork and verify that this was out cat. There was no one else in the lobby. They gave our cat a vaccine, even though we were contacted before we picked him up. Total cost to get him home was $50. Outrageous.
On the last Saturday of every month they have a free vet clinic. Get there early to sign in
For this visit it was for donation of warm blankets, next time for a tour. I have been a monetary doner every month for over 10 years.
Great experience very helpful with the adoption of our new puppy
This is always a pleasant experience to come visit. Our charity of choice for when we win giveaways and for donations.
I really appreciate the concern for any pet animals but the kind of shelter and money spent on them can also be used to help fellow human who is in homeless situation.
The Humane Society Shelter in Milpitas is top notch. The dogs all looked well. The individual dog pens were very clean, neat and cozy. The dogs all seemed to be comfotable and mellow . I didn't see any dogs that exhibited stressed behavior. I wish I could take tem all home.
The staff were also wonderful. They were very happy to answer questions and to talk with you.
They are well kept animals and volunteers are very kind and help animals socialize.
Took dog training classes here. Loved the small class sizes and thoughtful training. Kelsey was a wonderful trainer.
We love coming here to this excellent facility for animals in need. The dog park requires membership and is awesome, however there is very little people who sign up so it's a bit empty and not many dogs for our's to socialize with. My daughter has brought money in multiple times for donation and the staff seem appreciative and kind.
Very nice facility and provides good helps for pet owners. Of course, it takes good care of animals as well. The staffs are friendly and helpful.
Volunteers were very nice and the place is well kept.
Good people, and a fantastic environment! The cats get to live in clean and well-furnished "condos", equipped with toys, litter boxes, scratching posts, blankets, food and water. You can't beat HSSV if you are looking for a pet to adopt! :-)
The number one place for spaying and neutering. Very reasonably priced.
Wonderful /helpful staff. They have a great variety of young and older pets waiting for a new home
Cat, the woman who helped us adopt our ketten, was SUPER AWESOME! This is thr best facility to go to adopt. All the animals have enough room, seem calm and content. No one is suffering. There's a really peaceful and quiet vibe. Perfect.
This is a great place! They take great care of the animals and are very careful about their health and happiness!
I like how the know lots of thing about the animals and are specific. I like Mocha the hamster. She is so cute.
I'm telling you it's a trap. They have all these needy dogs, puppies, cats, kittens and rabbits and the occasional bird just waiting to steal your heart. Worse, they'll let you pet and play with them.
We visited 3 times over a 6 week period of time and Silvie (grey 8 year old female long hair cat) just had to come home with us.
Don't waste money a pure breeds. The humane societies have animals in need.
This is a very nice facility, especially the cat room where you can learn how they get along with others. The staff understands each of their charges and can be a great help in deciding on your next pet.
First of all my 1 star review goes to a specific adoption counselor. I wish I could give this facility 10 stars for the wonderful volunteers and the staff that cares for the animals. This shelter is very clean and all the animals look very comfortable. Ok back to my experience... On Sunday my kids and I went to adopt a cat. We had a wonderful time bonding with the cats we wanted to adopt. We proceeded to talk with adoption counselor. She asked all the standard questions and then she asked if we had a dog. I replied yes and she asked if the dog was indoor or outdoor, I said my dog is both indoor and outdoor. She immediately got defensive and kept hounded me and speaking poorly to me about how me keeping my dog outside sometimes is harmful. Now I understand they have a job to do in placing the animals in the best home possible but she was doing more then her job she was downright rude. She made my older daughter cry because she scared her and we were not able to proceed with the adoption of the cats we fell in love with. This story does have a happy ended because after 3 hours at the shelter we finally were able to find out new fur babies and a new adoption counselor helped us and was great!
Clean, good treatments of animals. Not much variety. A lot of bull dogs and Chihuahuas.
Ultra friendly and helpful when my friend brought some males for the trap and release program ! :-)
Visited for the first time today and was thoroughly impressed with this facility. The staff were incredibly helpful and the pets were obviously well cared for and loved. It was immaculately clean and the grounds were gorgeous. I will definitely be adopting my next pet and donating annually to the Humane Society of Silicon Valley. These places tend to be rather emotional for me but I left comforted that all the adoptable pets here were in caring hands. Much respect to everyone who contributes to this amazing organization.
They do great work but some of the staff can be really rude
Volunteers are so friendly and amazing. Pets are held in great environments and have such wonderful personalities <3
Never seen a better humane society, it looks amazing. We're adopting a dog for our current one and they're very helpful and cooperative.
Took my shih tzu here during peak summer and he came back absolutely ready to rock the summers. The place has a decent amount of waiting but for a place like this it's absolutely worth it. The humane society is just such a happy place . The people working at the grooming center were very pleasant and courteous.
Parking was not an issue at all.
I had to book an appointment over an email and that works out better for me rather than being put on hold for hours before someone answers my call.
So glad I found this place. We will back again here in a few months.
The only humane humane society on the planet. -PETA
I got my dog from the Neighborhood Adoption Center in the Sunnyvale Petco. She was clearly well taken care of and has been an amazing addition to the family. The staff were amazing and answered all of my questions (I asked a lot of questions). I'm currently taking my dog to the obedience class offered by the HSSV in Milpitas. Not only is this class easily the most inexpensive obedience class in the area - it's also been so effective and enjoyable.
We just went for a foster program. The place is really amazing. It looks like they take good care of animals. The place is new, big and clean. A lot of people are volunteering. They offer fostering, adoption, medical care, training.... A very complete program!
These guys were absolutely amazing with my cat. Super helpful, and went far beyond expectation to insure the well being of my lil feline friend.
Best place to adopt a new furry member of to the family go check them out
Beautiful Facility, very large. Mostly very nice staff. However when rescuing Farrell cats I don't understand why they make it so difficult. No wonder no one wants to do it....way easier with dogs. Sadly
Turned in a baby kitten 6 weeks or under they said was extremely hungry looked like it too
The foster program really helped the stray kitten I adopted however Buzz (kitty)was socialized and loves people. I adopted him at 4 mo. old.
Very nice people... the building was extremely clean and the dogs looked well taken care of more like a doggie Hotel
Beautiful place, great staff and amazing animals! :)
This place has horrible service I went to donate a Guinea pig after calling and checking the web site they said it was free paid for by private donor for Geneva pigs and rodents. I went there and the lady kat her name tells me they will be right with me I said my new born is in the car with my wife after 15 minutes of people walking by me and they just seem to be on there phones most likely on face book they tell me I have to be a resident from Sunnyvale in order for them to help I said that makes no since your facility is located in milpitas why would I have to be a resident of Sunnyvale? She said that's the process I said doesn't add up anyways sound like You only cater to the rich and if you cared about animals you would help me I had the Geneva pig all the accessories about 200 dollars worth would have been perfect for someone who needed a pet she just continued being very rude so later today I will call the supervisor Milisa and express my concerns. Anyhow I will never donate or go here for until they learn some manners.
Great people and willing to go to great lengths to help find your lost pet!
If very special, we got one more member of the family.
Very friendly and helpful medical service for our animal companions.
i think they should put more toys in the cages but i love how you acolyte care for sweet little animals i love that you rescue all animals from harm.i am glad that you acolyte care for animals i like how you give them love and care.i am glad that you take the dog out and give it food and water. i love how at least you gave them a place to stay. i am glad that you make sure that they are cared for.thank you for saving many lives.
This is the nicest pet shelter I've ever experienced. We adopted Kitty Cullen
Amazing organization, they do so much good work. I look forward to retirement, when I will be able to volunteer here.
They have so much love for all the animals. This is a great place to find a rescue animal who needs a forever home.
We brought our rescue dog hair because the vaccination prices are far better than at our private vets office. The front desk person was very helpful. However the office was very chaotic and we had no idea that the weight would be so long.
Such an amazing place. Very nice building. The animals are all indoors. There's a pet supply store within the building. The people really care about the animals. Weekends are busy. I suggest going on a weekday morning or midday. They don't have a "death row". In other words they don't euthanize animals that are long residents. That is enough in itself for me. The rest is just icing on the cake.
One of the best shelters I have ever been to. Separate rooms for cats and dogs, lots of volunteers giving love and care to animals. Adoption counselors trying to find the best match for you. Super clean and welcoming environment. They even have classical music playing quietly to make pets more comfortable. Come check it out and adopt a pet!
Great organization and wonderful dogs. We have been a foster home for 7 dogs from this location and they are always very communicative and clearly really care about the animals.
If you are looking for a furry addition to the family, or want to donate to a good cause, this place is perfect.
