The cat I adopted from the humane society is the most sweet and adorable cat ever! I've been super impressed by the humane society staff both at the Petco Sunnyvale location as well as at their main office location. Unfortunately, my kitty ended up having ringworm and we are having to treat him which is a very difficult process. However, the humane society medical staff has gone out of their way to make sure we have everything we need and that Milo is very well taken care of. I cannot speak highly enough of their staff and their medical center staff!

I found a Dog wandering around my neighbothood, She was extremely skinny and looked tired. I gave her some food and water and looked online for a shelter (as much as I wanted to keep her, I already have too many pets) I came across this place and took her there right away. Its a great looking facility and the staff were very helpful. Luckily the owner of the dog I found was able to get her back the next day.

After adopting a puppy here I found out the price includes training classes. I wasn't happy about already paying for classes I could have gotten some where else for cheaper. Plus I started having aggression issues with the puppy and asked if I could bring back the puppy and try a different dog. They said the adoption fee is not refundable and not transferable if I want to get another dog I have to pay full price. So only go here if you're 100% sure you're keeping the dog and hope it doesn't have aggression issues because if it does you're stuck with the animal or a hit in the wallet.

I can't thank the staff here enough, the ladies were so kind and offered to take in my kitten for adaption on the basis that i paid cash which was not an issue, just needed a safe home for my little girl. I'm giving a solid recommendation here to anyone thinking of visiting this place and the service they are likely to recieve will be excellent.
I miss my tabby so much but have peace of mind they will do the right thing and give her a safe home to enjoy the rest of her life. Thank you.

I had come into this place before and it was great- my dad, my girlfriend and I got to see a couple of dogs we were looking to possibly adopt. However my last visit was the exact opposite. All we were trying to do was look at one dog, and after signing in, we waited around for nearly a hour (because that is what we were told to do), and when we asked again when we would be able to see the dog, the same person who told us to wait said that we were probably not going to be able to meet him. We waited an hour for nothing. There was no heads up beforehand and the communication from staff was very bad. The dog will probably get adopted before I can convince my whole family to go back, as we are rarely in a position for all of us to visit and discuss the possibly of getting a specific dog. If you guys are understaffed then I could understand that, but again- no communication. The only thing they said was that there were not *as many* volunteers as usual, but that it would be okay because we would just have to wait. Well, you see how that turned out. Nice.

Everyone there is very nice. However, we had to put down our beloved pet, and that's the place you go to do it, by appointment. She was a small, lovely animal. But when they gave her the first dose of stuff, I don't think they knew how to deal with small dogs, she yelped in pain, probably the first time in her 14 year life. Of course it didn't last long, but that whole day broke my heart, and that she had to endure pain in her last moments makes it much worse.

This was first experience visiting the Pet Pantry, which blessed my doggie beyond what expected. I'm so grateful I applied on line at the Humane Society. I was approved in 2 business days. I visited the Pantry, after church 12:30 and was assisted by loading my car with more than enough nourishing doggie foods for my lil baby BellaMia.

I have used the humane society a number of times and they have always been there for me. Long story short a kitten showed up at our house the night before Christmas last year but we were in no position to keep it. They were open and able to help despite the late hour and even on a major holiday.

I'm a dog park member, and the HSSV dog park is the best in town. Also the pet store and the rest of the facilities are really nice. They offer puppy training classes to help anyone train their new puppy not just those who adopted from HSSV.

This place is heaven for poor family less homes. We adopted our beautiful Dessa and I have not had a better trained and relaxed dog in my life. She is a perfect match for my son. I have no idea of her life experiences , but strangely she was meant to be ours. The Humane Society is immaculate with a beautiful playground for dogs to romp and play. Volunteers care so deeply for all the animals making our adoption of Dessa the best! We can t go anywhere without anyone thinking she s the Target dog! They always want to know how she is doing! Vaccines are inexpensive there as well. Plenty of adorable cats and kittens livin the life there, too. It s hard to leave.

Wonderful mission, staff and volunteers really are passionate about what they do. I appreciate that they followed up after our adoption experience to see how things were going for Bruce. They also guided us to a good vet and gave us some toys that our cat had grown used to and liked at the center. I m thankful to HSSV for their dedication and care and for helping us match with Bruce.

I visited three different shelters yesterday. One in Tracy, one in Manteca and this one in Milpitas.

If I were an animal, I would want to live here. There are volunteers everywhere that are more than willing to help you. I lost one of my dogs just before Christmas. I am now ready. To look for another one. These animals are not kept in cages. They have private rooms. They are all extremely clean. Each pet has a privacy Hut several blankets to cuddle on toys to play with and plenty of food and water. They're not your typical cement floor. They have a type of rubbery coating on them, which I'm sure makes it easy to keep clean. And as I was being guided through the viewing area, I had a chance to go in the back where the general public doesn't normally get to go. In the kitchen area there were dozens of clean. Water and food bowls draining on the counter. There is hand sanitizer everywhere So that you can sanitize your hands between visits with different pets. And don't get me started on the cats playroom! There's even a special place for rabbits. They have their own store, and Grooming Center. There are several fenced-in dog parks. Everywhere you look there are recognition plaques and stepping stones and that sort of thing to pay tribute to the many people that donate their time and their money. They even have their own medical facility there. Where they do shots, chipping and spay neuter. I was completely impressed. I would highly recommend a tour through this place, even if you're not looking to adopt at this time. Everyone needs to see the good work they do there. I also noticed a lot of stray cats. I believe they have a program where they trap them. They give them Medical Care shots. Spay neuter etcetera. And if I'm not mistaken, they make a small notch in their ear. Just so that they know that that is a pet that cannot reproduce. They're just lounging around the property. They must feed them. Even the feral cats are happy there. This place is truly amazing. I only took one picture while I was there. This is Molly. She's very sweet And ready for her forever home.

I'm torn, so torn. I want to love this facility, b...

I'm torn, so torn. I want to love this facility, but we have had terrible experiences.

We just moved to the area (about three months ago), coming from ATL, GA. We been to many shelters and human socities, as we are some of the biggest animal people.... This was one of the nicest facilities we've ever seen. The rooms are appropriate size for the dogs, they all have fantastic accessories for their rooms, & all of the animals look like they are being greatly taken care of while they stay there waiting for their new family and homes. The parks out front are incredible, and after doing research on the facility, it seems this is an incredible one stop shop for any of your pet needs. Even a pet store on site. This is rare and hard to find!

Here's where I am torn. I don't know if we were just in the wrong place at the wrong time twice, or if this is a normal occurrence... But I wanted to review my experience because despite the fantastic facility, we had a pretty miserable time here.

We are in the market for a new pup. We have an almost two year old who loves dogs, and we wanted to add a furry friend to our family that she could love on and grow old with. We were looking at small to medium size dogs, which they had a great selection for. We went up there on Saturday to find that a lot of the little pups were out in the park for playtime. My daughter got to greet many of them on the outside of the fence. We saw one we fell in love with and went inside to ask for more information on him. The volunteers didn't have any info on the dog and told us that frankly that meant he was not available for some particular reason they didn't know at the time (could be behavioral, medical, etc.). All we knew is he wasnt available to have interaction even though he was outside with a play group from the facility. We were told to check back daily. We left and went home. We were kind of upset that no one was willing to dig a little further to give us more details - but were okay with checking back. We went home (less than 15 min away), and the dog we were interested in was posted once we got home. He was gone before we could get back up to the facility.

We were watching the adoption page as we then realized how quickly things progress at this location. We noted three new terrier mixes were added Saturday night after the shelter was closed. We showed up Sunday morning about 20 minutes after opening and checked in at the iPads. When I asked what position we were in line to see the three puppies. I was told we were third. When it came our time to see the puppies (2 were claimed by the first two people who viewed), a volunteer went to walk us back, and we were stopped by another volunteer to say someone was before us. Despite letting it be known we were there before when I asked & being originally told we were next, they let the other family in front of us. That was the difference of us getting a chance at the puppy versus not.

I'm sorry for the novel, but it wasn't just one experience for my family that we felt left behind on our wants to rescue a dog here. Like I mentioned, I can't determine if we were just in the wrong place at the wrong time twice or if these issues truly derive from a staff that didn't have it together at all.

We left broken hearted.

A wonderful adoption center and learning facility. The animals here are treated so well, and the staff here clearly care a ton about animals. We adopted a kitten through one of their satellite adoption centers, and the process was easy. They have a great training program for fostering animals and volunteering in office, and the main office is a beautiful facility that is well maintained. You couldn't pick a better place to adopt from, donate money to, or take obedience classes at.

The facility is brand new and beautifully constructed. It has ample parking. There is a private dog park for members only. This location always has plenty of dogs, rabbits, and cats looking for loving homes. The animals always look happy and healthy. I have been a foster parent for years and the vets are very friendly and accommodating.

Love this place! they helped us find the right dog for our family. This is dinah with my oldest son and she is a shiba inu mix. she is the newest member of our little family. Jessica was the absolute greatest with us, she stayed late to make sure all the paperwork was completed and that we knew all we needed to know. I am truly thankful.

I live in the free spay and neuter zip code, but because I help rescue some dogs and cats, I'm punished and can't use the service for my own animals and when I tried to speak to the head vet she did not return my call. i've had a great experience with HSSV. they offer free spay/neuter options for certain zip codes, and they have a PUP (Preventing Unwanted Pregnancies) program that has really come through for us and our bunnies who had surprise litters. Everyone I have communicated with or come across there has been very nice and helpful. The staff really does seem to care, and I feel very comfortable surrendering our bunnies to them. The first litter of three bunnies I surrendered have already found forever homes in less than a month. I just surrendered a litter of four and am confident that they are in good hands with HSSV. The facility is clean and the adoption center is beautiful and spacious. They have a lot of wonderful pets up for adoption.

Wonderful humane society that get local animals, plus animals from smaller towns outside the bay that weren't getting adopted at their local shelters. Kind, professional staff with nice volunteer opportunities, including a doggy day out program where you take a dog out to play from 9am to 1pm. Animals move quickly at this shelter, if you're looking to adopt a specific animal, you'll need to be on your toes and act fast.

Clean and well kept facilities. The place is huge with separate surrender and adoption areas. The staff is patient and supportive and the animals are well looked after. I asked to see 5 dogs before deciding on an adoption and they never rushed me.

One star docked because they were VERY late in sending us the puppy's vaccination record, which resulted in confusion at the vet. Now we have to restart the flu vaccination cycle because of their tardiness.

This is an impressive facility with caring employees and volunteers. Besides taking in stray animals, they really work with the community to make a better place for animals. They have a vet clinic, puppy classes, fantastic dog play areas, pet store, etc. It's really easy to view adoptable pets.

They also have a great volunteer and foster program providing good education. Foster parents are provided with everything needed to foster including food, cat litter, toys, etc

I have adopted from this place. They are clean and nice. Staffs are friendly. However when you have a question and needs answer that will not happen, unless you are physically there in person. There is answering machine. And they will call you back like next day or two. Their price for shots are reasonable. If you want to make a reservation for spay or neuter operation you have to wait three months. I understand that I have to wait but what I don't understand is that you cannot make a reservation via online!! They need better communication system- have someone answer the phone instead of listening to the message and calling back which I think would waste more time! Also have a better communication layout. For example I have been going there for years but did not know they have a social for puppies on Sunday morning. Wish they have it either on Saturday or 1 or 2 PM on Sunday for those who cannot attend Sunday morning.

This place is very cool and AWESOME. They allow you to hold the animals and pet them. In other stores you have to pay five bucks or more to pet or just see the animals. Also, this shelter is very luxury for the animals. The kittens get there own private room with two other kittens. I mean thats LUXURY. We adopted our german shepherd puppy from this shelter. He was in good hands and shape.
I will rate this 5 stars

We adopted our two Rottie/Shepard boys here two years ago and as a former volunteer in this field I can only say that I was incredibly impressed with the facilities. Clean, large and sunny enough for the animals; the dogs' areas are really more the size of hospital rooms.
There is a large outdoor area for the dogs to train in agility and to roam and socialize with prospective owners and volunteers, as well as mini backyards to socialize in with the dogs.
Zeus had a ACL repair (common with both both breeds) before we adopted him, which they graciously fixed in house. If we had adopted him and had to do this ourselves, it would have been in the thousands. Their vet is a saint.
The lady who made a promotional photo collage of our boys wanted to come say good-bye. (Then she gave us the poster! ) As did the veterinarian and various volunteers/staff.
I can't say enough good things. I would highly recommend this facility if you're looking for a forever pet ( or two).
