Hubbard Inn Review

Super cozy spot! Nice and quiet on a Monday night. Other nights I've seen it packed. Upstairs library bar only open weekends.

Had lunch there during NeoCon. The turkey burger was tasty and the bar service was very good.

While the ambiance of this restaurant is great, I can't say the same about the service. My friends and I made reservations for brunch and, despite the place being empty, our food took almost an entire hour to come out. Honestly, we were okay with the wait since we had company, however the worst part of the experience was the waiter randomly added $12 to the subtotal on our bill. Unfortunately, we were unable to split the bill at the restaurant so I offered to pay with my card and split it later. Even though I checked the bill, I didn't whip out a calculator to make sure every line item adds up to the subtotal until later when I was actually splitting the bill among my friends When I called to correct the issue, I was promised an email that would sort out the issue and refund my $12 (along with the adjusted tax and gratuity amounts). No such email was sent. I tried emailing them to resolve the issue a week later and no response. Now, every time I call I'm put on hold for 10+ min and then the phone hangs up automatically. I'm very upset with this experience. Honestly, not even a matter of the $12, more that they cheated me and now don't want to correct the issue. Will never be dining at Hubbard Inn again.

Great for drinks and socializing but not a vegan friendly menu at all. They don't claim to be veg friendly so not docking them any points but just a word of warning to my vegetarian brethren.

The Harry Potter event kinda sucked. It took forever for the themed drinks to get to the second floor and when I tried to get a drink from the first floor they ran out of clean cups. Didn't have a good experience!!

Very cool decor. Drinks are a little pricy but interesting variety. Staff are friendly but not chatty - def not a place to come alone. Atmosphere looked great for groups though! Tons of seating.

Was here for the Harry Potter Brunch. Over an hour wait due to them overselling it, mediocre mimosas, and a really basic food fare. Very little of this was themed around Harry Potter and it was clearly just marketing gimmicks that we unfortunately fell for. This was made worse by overhearing a supervisor berating staff for bringing out more food at 2:50 pm because it was supposed to be cut off at 3. However, many people weren't able to get in until after 2 and then had to wait another hour for food with the event set to run until 6 (we thankfully got in early enough for food because we read the fine print about food ending at 3... But it was the fine print and not clear). Overall, just a very dishonest and terrible business practices. Prior to these events, I would have recommended Hubbard Inn but now I can't say enough bad things about it and it's terrible event planning.

Chicken BLT is delicious and decadent. Good choice if you need a meal quick, but not fast food.

Oyster bar happy hour I hate to tell people about it but damn it was good

Not a lot of options for vegans here, but a great place for cocktails.

Sucks. Paid for a Halloween party until 6 pm entire place got kicked out at 5:45pm. No food, barely any drinks. Jerk security and bouncers. Don't give this place your business.

Place is amazing! It has 3 different floors. First floor is a restaurant- second floor a upscale cocktail lounge 3rd floor nightclub sexy lounge. Awesome food and drinks. Good trendy place in river north!

Love their cocktails and their out door area in the summer. The food is pretty good too. The steak tartare is great and a lot of the flat breads are good. Also love the scallops. A solid spot.

Very expensive with a long wait. Went to a Harry Potter themed event that seemed more like a cash grab than a genuine experience.

Great location, in the heart of River North by all the Hubbard bars/restaurants. Upscale bar food, but not ridiculously priced, and really good quality and variation. Excellent selection of beer for a place that isn't necessarily known for their beer list. Nice outdoor patio, great upstairs seating and good inside as well. Why am I not giving this 5-star? Honestly, I would, if it weren't for the management. Don't know any names, but from my experiences, they have an air of arrogance that's off putting. Overall though, not enough to stop me from coming back.

In short this place is amazing! :)

The decor is a great mix of rustic, classy, and hip, and the spaces are completely customizable. The food is crazy good and they have a lot of yummy options to fit different dietary restrictions (gluten free, vegan, etc). This place comes at a VERY reasonable price, and you won t find any hidden costs.

But, above everything the service is red-carpet status. Eileen helped us get set up with a contract for our event, showed us the venue, and oversaw our tasting. We left feeling like royalty, which made us happy because it s really important to us that our guests have a good experience during our wedding festivities. (Thank you Eileen!!) we are so looking to hosting g our rehearsal dinner here.

10/10 restaurant! Bartender Berry was amazing! The shared apps were perfect for our table! Loved every cocktail I tried, and would recommend to all my friends. If you haven't already tried Hubbard Inn, you need to!

One of the few places I hadn't tried on Hubbard - unfortunately went for a business lunch, so I'll have to return to try cocktails.

Yes to the bacon-wrapped dates (exact same recipe as American Junkie's, FYI) and the caprese salad (beefsteak tomatoes and burrata, yes please), maybe to the mushroom and asparagus flatbread. It needed salt and a little more kick, but it was decent for a light lunch.

Looking forward to returning for the Coco Basil Martini that I saw on the blackboard!

The remodel is so nice! Definitely the perfect spot to come for happy hour drinks!

Talk about awful service. We waited an hour last night for a table of two. During that time, we saw group after group sit down. The hostess said she would call us when our seat was open. During that hour, I never saw her pick up the phone. There were six completely open tables, so I asked her how long the wait would be. She said she was only 2/3s through her list, so it would be awhile, but that we should go to the bar and get sinks while we wait. Really? Seems like hey just want to get more money from us. We left and went to Bull and Bear right down the street. We were seated right away, and our hostess and waitress were so friendly. Needless to say, I will not be returning to the Hubbard Inn.

Exterior is very unassuming. You can easily walk right by and miss it. Inside it feels like an old study with lots of woodwork and cushy seats. The food was fine, but nothing jumped out as extra special that I'd have again.

Fun menu designed for sharing. High end cocktail program. Each level is a different feel and completely different adventure.

Bacon wrapped dates were very very good, along side the chicken for dinner. Crowd had a nice buzz and the cocktails were cold and served quickly by the staff. Entry staff were warm and greeted us, let us hit the bar before we sat and did a great job. A+ location, food and staff.

Great looking bar and quick entry in. Door man was friendly. Once we were seated no one ever came to check on us. We waited for about 10 minutes before I went and stood at the bar to try and order my drinks. (I was the only person standing there at the time). Bartender never acknowledged me and a waitress walked by and when I asked for her assistance to order a drink she said she would be right with me. I sat back down and after another 10 minutes or so we were never checked on to order a drink. This is a very nice looking bar and I would ve easily spent $100+ here but the lack of attentiveness of the staff (and it wasn t even that busy) was unacceptable.

Tried this place for the first time for their seafood happy hour (I'm not sure that's what they officially call it) at the invitation of a friend. Great atmosphere and was just crowded enough for an early Friday evening to still feel welcoming but not overwhelming. The cocktail shrimp, scallop crudo, and oysters were delicious, but the crab legs left much to be desired. The service was good but not great. I'll definitely be going back though!

This is hidden gem. I have attending the networking event and I was in awe for amazing interior. The drinks was good and food fresh and tasty.

This is hands down one of my favorite bars in the city. Manny, the GM and his staff are friendly, professional and exceptionally courteous. As a Business professsional it is my "Go To" place because it offers fantastic drinks, well presented appetizers, fantastic music on all three levels and the security professionals who are not the typical overgown imposing and inconsiderate meatheads so prevalent at nearby bars. They are intelligent, well spoken and professional always. I brought my parents there for my engagement after party and we were treated like royalty. Thank you Manny and team.

A great place to launch the night. The antique library decor on the second floor adds a perfect backdrop for discussions of lofty topics fueled by spirits. If you get a chance, take a moment and skim through the titles of the books on the shelves many of which can make for good conversation.

the drinks are a little strong here -- but quite yummy. a little pricey but the midnight moscow mule has cherry in it and it's quite sour -- which i loved! they have some good beers here too. everything here has great flavor. didn't try the food but they looked delicious!

Slow service, and I didn't appreciate being buddy-slapped by the bartender out of the blue when I was talking with a friend. Not recommended.

Very "River-Northy" - service is slow and the place get's really, really crowded on the weekends. Drinks are average-priced, which is nice, and their beer selection is pretty good.

We went here for the $2 appetizers Tuesday through Friday. We had the oysters ($1 each), the crab legs, the lobster cocktail, and the scallop crudo. The oysters were better than I expected for $1 each. We had 5. I really liked the scallop crudo, seasoned well and very fresh. The lobster cocktail was just lobster diced and put into a cup. There was no cocktail aspect to it. The crab legs were a little dry, I guess because they were sitting out on a tub of ice. We did not try any of the full menu, we will save that review for another time. For the prices we paid, were satisifie with what we got. The beer and cocktail prices seemed very fair.

I was looking for a place to go for date night and Hubbard Inn looked nice, so we gave it a try. We arrived and grabbed a seat at the bar and thats when things went downhill. The bartender, (woman, brown/blond wavy hair) was so rude and unhelpful that we left without ordering anything. I have never done that in my life, but my date and i were almost speechless with her attitude. We ended up having an amazing night at other places around Hubbard Inn with excellent service and staff that were helpful and friendly. We wont be going back to Hubbard Inn

Generally I'm here much later on a weekend and it can get...how do I put it...douchey.
But come on a weeknight after work and the environment is far more tolerable. The food is ok...nothing has ever stood out but the cocktails are pretty good. Priced very inline with the rest of River North. That means $25-$35 for food and depending on if you're a lush like me or a normal person, cocktails range from $13 to oops I forgot how many I've ordered and I don't want to check my bank account tomorrow.

Great laid back, hip vibe. There is no place like it. All class!

If you are white and you can't dance, show off your white moves here! As a white man that can't dance this is my new favorite place for fri/sat nights.

As someone who has successfully conquered the entire black board full of drinks at Hubbard Inn, I can say this place has really delicious drinks. Anyone is sure to find something they like here. The crowd here is really good and the bartenders are willing to experiment/mix drinks for you even if they're not on the menu.

3 floors. Good food served on first and nice bar. Second floor is the best in my opinion with a great view. Decorated great with a lot of dark leather and wood, and giant candelabras. 3rd floor is super dark with dance music and can have a bad element. Drinks are expensive though.

Cool scene, probably for the younger scene, but upscale and chic. Good cocktails.

I like this place... lots of great atmosphere and the bone marrow is to die for! The whole Hubbard scene is getting really really crowded though. My girlfriends and I like hanging out at the bar upstairs, you can sit and there isn't the meat market feel of bull and bear.

Had decent experiences in the past, but back in February, I was charged more than double for what I signed for. My credit card company couldn't do anything about it so I ended up paying over $300 what I was supposed to. The manager never responded to my calls, even though the employee who answered my phone calls indicated this was clearly a mistake. Not much I can do at this point, which is unfortunate. Super bummed.

Went for a harry Potter brunch. Wasn't very well thought out, there was no where to sit, free mamosas and only 2 bartenders, no garbage cans for plates and started playing club music at 2pm...not very Harry Potter-like....
