This place is extremely overrated for the food they give you. We ordered shrimp and grits and lobster appetizer. The food was overpriced and very small portions. I will never go there to eat again.
We just had drinks place looks great had an issues with our drink order they gave a member of our party the wrong rum but cleared it up right away other drinks were good. Will go back to try the food which if good will raise the stars.
I didnt realize this place served food until I was walking around the area one evening. It was a pleasant experience with an atmosphere that feels like your in a library.
Yoooo I heard this place host swinger parties. As a man, I find this in bad taste considering its being held at a restaurant where people eat. You guys are gross man. Take my review down too and I ll post over and over again.
Only came for drink but even that was good. Beer selection was decent and there was a good selection of mixed drinks
Very good happy hour deals! had good drinks, crab legs, shrimp and oyster!
Excellent food selection, real bartenders and excellent service. A nice combination. Interesting and unique atmosphere, would definitely recommend.
Spectacular Brunch! Ordered the Crabcakes Benedict. The eggs on my benedict were perfectly poached with a deliciously runny yolk. The potatoes on the side were well seasoned and addicting to eat! The crabcake was also very crisp and flavorful. Also ordered the chocolate cake which was an enormous slice of layered cake with ganache, fudge, raspberries, and hazelnuts. Much more than we were expecting! Price wise, for what you get this place is a wonderful deal. They also have a large variety of drink options, so it is probably an excellent place to just grab drinks if you aren't looking for a big meal.
Make reservations! Place gets very busy for dinner and on the weekends. More on a pricey end. Start of with one of the flatbreads or crab cakes. Little Gem salad or Lamb Burger is perfect for lunch. They do have $2 happy hour food specials.
The environment is nice, but the service was slow. We were waiting a lot for drinks, for food, for our waitres as well. At the end the other girl charged us, because we couldn't see her... Food was good, I tried Brussels sprouts for $7 and it was a pretty big portion. It tasted good. Cocktails are $14, $15, Martha's vineyard was really good. Almost like a juice :)
Joined Hubbard Inn for their grand opening. A great turn out. Food was delicious, duck is highly recommended. Went upstairs to MASQ, their new nightclub. Service was great. Space looks amazing.
Very disappointed!! Went with my sister. The restaurant was pretty empty it was about 12:15 pm on a Wednesday. I ordered the lobster roll, my sister ordered the turkey burger, and we ordered the lobster bisque to share. We asked if we could get the soup right away as we were very hungry. 30 minutes later my lobster roll is delivered by the bus boy. We waited a few minutes...nothing...no soup no sandwich for my sister so we split the lobster roll, which I have to say was pretty good. 25 minutes later here comes my sister's turkey burger and the soup. No explanation from the waiter. We asked why we couldn't get the soup quicker he gave some lame excuse but no apology. The bus boy later came to check on us, we told him our issues and I saw him tell the waiter. The waited never addressed any issues then took 15 minutes to bring the check. Needless to say we only tipped the bus boy.
I've got a fetish for good food and this place gets me hot! Everything was just so yummy. This was one of the best mouth-watering steaks I've had grace my taste buds in a long time. The desserts must be sprinkled with crack because I just craved for more and more. I'm definitely coming back for more!
Amazing food, nice warm and inviting atmosphere. Server was perfectly attentive. Here's a little secret, go on Sunday evening and you will not have to fight crowds. Bacon wrapped dates, lobster ravioli, lamb shank.... It's all good.
Great place to host large events. Service is always amazing.
Good food, good service, it's a bit expensive though.
Great place to sit back and enjoy drinks with friends.
Nice bar and restaurant. Food is fantastic and they have huge selection of craft beer and liquor. Good friendly service as well.
Mostly everything made from scratch down to the ketchup. Even their pancakes remind me of my mother's homemade buttermilk pancakes. You will not be disappointed at alllllll!!!!!!
Great place to get a burger. Wish the outside seating got more light.
Expensive buy super good service and food + drinks. Great scotch selection too.
Cool bar. Went during the Harry Potter pop up and it was very crowded. Expensive drinks and crowded bar. However the decor was pretty cool.
I ve been here for a variety of events, ranging from Sunday brunch to a holiday party on a Friday night. This place never disappoints.
Hubbard Inn (2.0) is great! It has a nice, refreshing, and open feeling. The menu is great, literally one of the better meals I ve had in a while and that s saying a lot with so many great restaurants in Chicago. We tried several apps and they were all good. The Amish Chicken was very good as well, can definitely share. Service was impeccable and our waitress made great suggestions. I highly suggest Hubbard Inn!!!
What a fabulous spot tucked into busy spot on Hubbard. I felt like I stepped back in time (except with really great food) :) I ended up hanging out for about 5 hours in the back Library which was such a treat! The Front Area of the restaurant/bar are bustling, fun, loud and busy. It was fun to sit in the back out of the fray and watch all the early evening activities - all from the comfort of a nice nook with leather couches, comfy chairs and an electric but authentic looking fireplace!
The staff and management are fantastic - Jason & the crew took great care of us. I had a small gathering of local friends, many of whom had not been there and now I know they will be back!
Food: The flatbread pizzas are top notch. I had the mushroom/asparagus flatbread - super crispy, great taste & the asparagus was perfectly cooked (with a little crunch!) We also had the chorizo flatbread which was noms noms. Definitely try out the lobster deviled eggs (because.... lobster + deviled eggs!) I also had the bacon wrapped dates which had a nice drizzle of red pepper sauce which was a different flavor pairing but I liked it.
Overall, Hubbard Inn is an incredibly impressive place - 3 floors of all different spots - really old world settings interspersed with fun decor and kickass artwork. If you are thinking about a private event downtown, you need to consider this place - so many options.
I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Chicago!
Fantastic! As aways, great food, service and ambiance. Throw in a Groupon, and its a no brainer. We go there even without the Groupon.
Went for breakfast and got the Crab Benedict, it was alright. The potatoes that come with it were great though. It was a variety of potatoes
Don't wait too long to go to the bathroom, it's a hike!
The remodel of Hubbard Inn is dope! Check out the second floor lounge ... it s beautiful! Flowers everywhere!! They completely redid the menu and I was very impressed! Great cocktails as well!
Huh. My review from March was deleted. That's not suspicious or anything.
This place is awful. The table and seats have stains and are cramped together, and that's the smallest problem.
The menu is impossible to conquer. Anytime something sounded good, it was paired with something that didn't match it AT ALL. After struggling with it for around 15 minutes, I decided not to get anything. When I told this to the waiter, he made a face at me before yelling angrily and reading a few random menu options from memory. It's great that he has the descriptions memorized, but I can read. He doesn't need to throw a tantrum.
When I finally gave up on his yelling and decided to get something, I started to tell him, he made a face, and walked away. What a jerk!
I ordered a small plate of cheese when he finally came back with everyone else's plates. What did I get? Two pieces of Kraft cheese that hadn't been cooled or wrapped in a few days, a pinch of mixed nuts, some raisin bread bites, and a little cluster of grapes. The grapes were fine. That tiny plate was not worth $6.
The bathrooms are not accessible to handicapped patrons. They're down a tall flight of stairs and a good thirty feet or so from the landing. Further, the toilets don't even flush. They just bubble and stir your contributions. GROSS!
This is an actual hell of an experience. I've been to some bad places, but it's going to be hard to beat this one.
The service, ambiance and decor are pretty impressive here. The space can be reserved for small weddings and parties.
They are rude as hell and closed early. Racist af too.
Loved it, took my girlfriend here for her birthday. Taylor our waitress was helpful and friendly. Started with a sidecar cocktail, very nice. Really enjoyed our meal, lobster ravioli, lamb shank, salmon, asparagus, brussels sprouts and creme brulee, everything was delicious. Pretty space, will return soon.
I had a great experience at Hubbard Inn last Friday night. The ambiance was set with the rustic chandeliers and decor. The DJ was great and the drinks were amazing!
The bacon wrapped dates were a great starter.
The pan seared scallops were perfectly cooked.
The bar downstairs is very busy on weekends. Escape upstairs for a different vibe.
Good take on an old fashioned here.
Decent prix fixe lunch deal, if a little pricey. Acceptable beer selection (though often out of things listed on the menu). Nice space. 3.5 stars.
They are rude. They closed a half hour early and rudely forced us out. They gave me the wrong drink and refused to fix it. They were nicer to the white people than any people of color in there. Overall the worst experience at a bar I ve had.
I really enjoyed our meal. Cool place and great seafood specials.
I don't plan on coming here again because the service was terrible! My friends and I came for a birthday dinner. Our server was very rude and unfriendly. I suspect that because we were a large group and he automatically got a decent tip, that he didn't feel that there was a need/motivation to provide quality service. We had a small disagreement over the name of a drink, I ended up looking it up myself. I was correct and he and the bartender just didn't recognize the drink's full name. This normally wouldn't bother me, however, due to his approach it really added to the negative mood. I was appalled at the service considering how positive the reviews were for the restaurant. Needless to say our expectations were not met.
The food itself was average. I had the lobster roll with fries. Several of us had complaints about it not being warm enough and it seeming like it was left sitting out. My friends enjoyed the shrimp and fettuccine, tacos, and chocolate cake. The silver lining of the evening was that a mutual friend works at the club and was incredibly nice. However, this did not excuse our experience with Robert.
This place has the potential for greatness but sadly, it s awful. The bottom shelf $20 dinks are a solid ripoff, the bathrooms are FILTHY <FILTHY> and the service is incredibly slow. The ambience is lux for sure, but saddle, well never step foot in this location again.
Very good brunch place. Was happy with my groupon purchase but probably would not come back unless I buy another groupon. Standard River North prices.
This place is amazing me and my friends go here all the time for the food. The bision burger meat is juicy, well seasoned. we overall had a great experience . The toppings on the burger are great the pickles here have the perfect crunch. The decor is an amazing classic new European style, it always does great for a good instgram/Snapchat story.
What a wonderful place for a wedding rehearsal reception. Staff was amazing and such a beautiful venue!
We recently held our holiday party at the Hubbard Inn and absolutely loved it! Their event space was nicely decorated for the holidays and the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. We were able to do a walkthrough beforehand to make sure everything was set up exactly the way we wanted which was extremely helpful. We were also impressed with the food and drinks served. Highly recommend Hubbard Inn for future events!
Had fun here, it was very full but it was a Saturday so that was expected. The lower level is a bar with a warm atmosphere and the upper level is a dance club style area.
great atmosphere and happy hour food specials. Their raw bar is super reasonable!
Was at a business event upstairs in Blue Violet room. The hors d'oeuvres brought around were phenomenal. Little crab cakes and the steak sliders were my favorites. Bar and tender were great. Good attention given to patrons, and a great ambience with all the greenery and flowers on ceiling. The darker more intimate seating corners are a nice touch. Same floor rest rooms and coat check excellent.
Always a great time at Hubbard Inn.
I love their brunch menu and I also love how well the staff treats you.
Its like the really care about who visits there inn.
I also like that there is always a great selesction of tea and coffee
Didn't really get crowded till 1030-11, but awesome crowd, good drinks
This is the worst place to be..The owner is absolutely rude and literally walks people out of here. Stay away and spend your hard earned money elsewhere!!!
Came in for happy hour with my girls, this place is perfect for after work drinks and the food was great for us to share. Our server was so nice! Had the oysters, octopus tostadas, beef tartare and lemon drop martinis that were bomb! Definitely coming back soon! Love the remodel best place to come on Hubbard street :))
Food wasn't as good as I expected for the price we paid. Portions were pretty small as well.
Loud, standard crap drinks, drunk patrons who are jerks, and douchey beyond belief. Gave it to stars because at least my wife and I were able to dance and have some fun, but left with partial deafness afterward.
This place is good for parties and the food is solid. I've been there for a couple of parties where it turns into a nightclub later and I've enjoyed myself it's worth a visit.
One of the best happy hours in Chicago. Great fresh clams & oysters for a good deal. Also you can t beat a $5 Manhattan from 4-7pm. Definitely drunk after 3 drinks.
My fiancee and I went there for brunch and had a great experience. We had the lobster omelette and the steak and eggs. The lobster omelette comes with 3 different kinds of friend potatoes, a rich hollandaise and it was stuffed full of spinach and mushrooms. The only complaint is the lobster was a bit lacking. The small pieces were lost among the other delicious components. The steak and eggs were good as well, which has a salsa verde and avocado. Looking around, the stuffed french toast looked AMAZING. It is french toast stuffed with bananas, chocolate sauce and deep fried to two large sandwiches of morning goodness. I will definitely have to go back and try those. The service was good, cocktails were tastey, coffee...ok. Overall a great place for brunch.
Be careful on the Friday happy hour, service super slow.
Nice location, great food and awesome experience...
Excellent location and a great place to people watch. Definitely sit outside on a nice day and enjoy Chicago! The kale salad is great, and great service is included
The place was fun. The food was good. The music was way too loud. The noise volume was more like a bar than a restaurant. Unnecessarily loud and impossible to talk to anyone. Take the volume down several notches.
I always have a great time at Hubbard. Doesn't matter what level. Key Club brunches are the best time of the month.
Love the location of this place on Hubbard street. It is dark and homey in here, with lots of sharing items on their menu.
They had a wonderful Harry Potter themed countdown to Halloween. Drinks are overpriced.
My wife and I went here for 27th anniversary and they all treated us like royalty. Manny and Eileen were both top notch. They made our special day even better.
Thanks again,
Ron Miller aka MillerTyme
Pricey but the atmosphere is great. Came for a Harry Potter movie night and it was impressive!
