Very nice hotel. Beautiful pools and view from the room. However, no room service and drinks were very expensive. Almost like they don't want you drinking there, $8 for a beer. You can go anywhere else in town and get a beer for $3.

If you are looking for convenience and a hotel at the beach then Tamarindo Diria could be the place for you. It has direct access to the beach with sun chairs for rent, several bars an restaurants, and is located in the center of the village Tamarindo with additional possibilities.

Property is fantastic: beachfront, great views, swim up bars, spacious rooms... wifi connectivity stinks (boots you off frequently and is spotty - and no I wasn't always on my phone) Shower pressure is weak. Service at main bar is horrible. Literally 4-5 bartenders hanging around and no one is serving anyone, it was ridiculous. Shout out to Michael and Adelayda for their service. Do try the fish tacos. They're phenomenal!

The room is quite small for the price but it's right on the beach and it's wonderful having the ocean so close. The breakfast buffet is great, but don't plan your dinners at the hotel because there are so many other places close with better food.

This resort is beautiful, and is located right on the beach with scenic views. Lay on the beach or enjoy happy hour with a view. Enjoy one of several pools with plenty of options for other adventures. Horseback riding, snorkeling, ATV tour, surfing and the food is yummmmmm.

The "grassy beach" is well landscaped, plenty of shade, and has a low wall to keep the beach salespeople at bay. Views are amazing and the property is well positioned for the sunsets. The lagoon pool is zero-entry and is well landscaped. The beachfront restaurant looks like it is out of a movie. Someone is always sweeping or cleaning somewhere. There are just enough iguanas. Shopping and the main road splits the hotel. Grocery stores are close and reasonably priced. Restaurants abound within walking distance.

Worst bar service I've ever encountered. Ever. Ruined my fish by over cooking it, can't get the bartender to acknowledge me for at least 10 minutes, and whenever he makes me an espresso, after I've waited too long for it, he drops it in front of me with no spoon, no sweetener, no milk then I have to wait 3 more minutes to get his attention again and he acts like I'm putting him out even though I asked for those things when I ordered. No management or presence of anyone who is on charge anywhere in this hotel. They have alot to learn here.

Great location on Tamarindo beach. Very few resorts in this area and I'm glad we chose this one. Comfortable rooms and good food and drink. Reasonably priced for a resort but wish there was an all inclusive option. Also plenty of other places to eat within walking distance.

Excellent. I compared prices and to go in a group is the best, for nothing a hostel was cheaper. The food is excellent and the attention is very careful. They give you coffee in the room and it is the best in the universe: D I highly recommend it.

The ocean view room was very nice. The room was very nicely furnished, with the small refrigerator very well hidden. The AC unit was quiet but sufficient to keep the room cool as the afternoon sun moved over-head. The bathroom was well laid out and worked well for our family. The beach in front of the hotel was amazing, with wonderful waves that the boys spent hours jumping it. We greatly enjoyed the Diria.

- Rooms were small

- Rooms were small
- Great restaurants like Nari and Montepallo and the fish place
- Great ways to surf
- Rich, brown sand
- I highly recommend Diamonte and REQUEST TO GO WITH MARIELLA; SHE IS THE PLUG
- Sun sets early at like 6:00
- Not much nightlife
- I loved the band that came around to play music at night. One of my favorite memories was when they played for two people in their 70s who did not tip them, so they played again for them.
- Wake up early to catch the day
- Big late at night beach parties
- Ton of monkeys
Overall, great experience

Staff were courteous and pleasant. Hotel is very clean. The chef even accommodated my dietary preferences for a special NYE dinner they provided. Our ocean front room was the best. Great view.

Me and my wife (early 30's from NYC) came to Costa Rica (Firtst Time) and choose Tamarindo because all of our friends ranted and raved about the town. Tamarindo is a small, beautiful and truly a blissfull town for those in craving for Some Sun, R&R and Water activities. Also, you can goto Guachepelin which is a volcano about hour and half away from Tamarindo. Hotel: Please note that Tamarindo does not have big resorts or grand hotels. Diria is the biggest in town and has resort type amenities. Hotel is great for family, couples, kids and all. Hotel has 3 pools: the main lobby pool (descent size), the there are 2 huge resort like pools with bar. One for adults and other for family. Both were great. The breakfast was great. Gives you trons of options from omelettes to waffles, to fresh fruits fresh juices and great breads. Best part of breakfast: the amazing VIEW and COFFEE; They use BRIT which is amazing. I love coffee and could not stop drinking. Rooms: We had a traditional room which had king size bed, flat screen TV( Make sure you turn on AUTO SAP OFF) or else its all in Spanish. Air conditioned, huge bathroom and free WIFI. We got upgraded to Ocean view, ocean front fist floor rooms on the second day. Amazing views, bathrooms a bit smaller but great veranda to see the sunset and enjoy a nice cold Imeperial. The staff were all great and never had a bad experience. The beach was good. IF you are looking for pristine turquoise waters or Caribbean like waters, this is not the place for you. Nonetheless, beach was great, water was very nice and the enjoyable for swimming, paddle boarding, body boarding, kayak, surf or just sit and relax and enjoy the sounds. The beach was also good for walking, its endless and miles to walk or run or ride a bike. The town: AMAZING TOWN. People are friendly, respectful, courteous, and helping. The local shops had variety of things to buy and NEVER HAGGLED, always were professional and courteous. The food: where can I start. My wife is vegetarian and we have set standards for food since we come from NYC. Everything was 4.5/5 or 5.5. Everything was amazing, from the Falafel Bar to the Pizza, to the Tacos or Sushi. All the restaurants or little shacks were amazing and clean and upheld the US standards or even higher. Quality of food was amazing, for someone who is picky or even limited to certain food, this is the place for you. you can find joy in every type of food. Please note that Tamarindo is a bit on the pricey side compared to the rest of Costa Rica, barring San Jose. But it is am amazing place togo for 4nights or 5 nights max. Hope this was helpful and PURA VIDA!!!!read less

Pretty grounds, ok hotel rooms, great views but the service in the reaturants and bars were unacceptable. I would not go back to be treated like that. Trash of some sort in two of my girlfriends drinks, then they argued with us about paying for them. Find someone where else to give your business

We were two nights and had a great time. The food was delicious. The cleanliness and the decoration is excellent. The place that overlooks the beach is simply beautiful. The negative aspects were promptly two: IN the recreation service they did not have the implements to enjoy the tennis court, they gave us a broken ball. The TV screen never worked in the room.

This centrally located hotel is the perfect property for groups visiting Tamarindo. With multiple pools, fine dining, beautiful suites, and endless spa services - there is nothing you can't do at this resort. It's central location in town allows easy access to everything Tamarindo has to offer from bars, activities, unique shops, restaurants, and of course, the beach! Thank you to the amazing staff here for always taking great care of our groups!

This hotel is split by the main road through Tamar...

This hotel is split by the main road through Tamarindo. Part of the property is on the beach, the other part is across the street. My Wife and I stayed in an ocean view room on the beach side. The hotel grounds are beautiful. The beach is great.

Unfortunately, there is a place next door playing music loud enough to cause the windows and pictures on the walls to shake and rattle in every part of our room. It's just shy of 1 am. This is a problem. I'm paying for a hotel room primarily for the bed and bathroom. The bed is useless right now. The neighbors around me are equally annoyed. While this is not directly the hotel's fault, this is not what I signed up for. I contacted the front desk, and they gave me the impression that this is not uncommon, and that's just the way it is. Perhaps someone at the hotel will be motivated to do something about this if they receive enough complaints? The important thing is that if you are booking Tamarindo over a Saturday and don't plan on going to the party, you may want to book elsewhere. Other nights (other than Saturday) have not been this bad. Music still goes to 11pm or so, but that's understandable for this kind of town. Point is, it's not quiet here at night.

Anyway, enough of that. About the hotel... Check in was great. Parking is across the street. We are visiting during Christmas, which is a busy time, so the parking lot is a bit tight. Room is okay. Not too small, but definitely not large. King size bed though, so that's good. Bathroom is a bit small and is dated. Shower head has major calcium build up and needs cleaning. The shower curtain is really not enough to cover the stall opening and it's not very clean either. Tile work is a bit of a mess as well (the grout seriously needs cleaning). Otherwise, the room is generally kept clean (bedding, flooring, etc.).

The service at this hotel is often painfully slow. We had trouble getting silverware during breakfast, and service at the half empty bar was terrible. I was lucky and was able to get a drink ordered quickly, the check took about 10-15 minutes though, and the guy that showed up about a minute after me waited almost 10 minutes just to order. We spoke with some other guests, and they had similar experiences with the service in the bar area trying to order food. The only time I saw folks moving quickly around here was at 10am when breakfast was over. The entire buffet was clear by 10:02. Other than breakfast (which is included), we did not eat at the hotel.

The beach and the town are nice, though. A lot of great restaurants to choose from, and there is plenty to do in the area.

My biggest issue with Tamarindo Diria is the value. We paid a pretty high rate, but I don't feel like we got our money's worth. Service is slow. Showers are not very clean. Saturday night parties at neighboring properties make the bed obsolete. That said, the grounds are very pretty and well maintained, the pools are nice, and the beach location is awesome when the neighboring properties aren't ruining a nice night's sleep for an entire hotel wing. At a lower rate, I would consider this a great stay, but at the price we are paying, it's mediocre at best. For comparison, on this trip we also stayed at the Secrets resort North of Tamarindo in Papagayo, the all-inclusive price was about 20% more than what we are paying here (which included three meals, and well, pretty much everything). Tamarindo Diria could improve their value by reducing rates or by cleaning the shower heads, replacing the shower curtain with something substantial, giving the grout a sold scrubbing, and by improving service attentiveness. Also, by negotiating with the neighboring properties and working out reasonable hours to turn the volume down (2 am is not reasonable in a place where 7 am wake ups are common for daily excursions). The neighbors are hurting the value of this property, and that is a shame.

One of the best beachfront hotels .. but I don't think it's a good place if they give you a room across the street .. or rent a similar condo across the street .. with such a busy place like tamarind. It is not a very good thing to have to be crossing the street!
