Great location, mediocre rooms. Rooftop bar average by SoCal standards. Tried to charge me for overnight parking (didn't have car)

Very cool and popular place. Great rooms, love the amenities and staff is su per friendly. Would definitely stay here again!
Clean, restaurant and bar downstairs, complimentary cocktail as I walked in, and right on the water in front of Venice Beach. No complaints.
This is a great spot to come meet friends for drinks.
Service was good. Dinner was great. Breakfast was mediocre.
I had to leave my cars with them overnight. Everything was set up smoothly.
Great place, staff and location. Right in heart of Venice. Will definitely stay here again.
Staff are very pleasant and quickly address and questions and concerns.
Price not justified.
The only real plus is the direct access to the beach.
Really clean and cute hotel with awesome views! Staff is VERY accommodating and helpful. Definitely recommend!
The hotel's furnishing and structure looks quite old (not modern). I was hoping for a peaceful night's rest. I was on the 4th floor, and there were guests above me. I could hear footsteps and chairs scraping beginning at 6am - 9am+. I am guessing this is because the hotel is old, the noise insulation is not that good. The A/C / heater was also quite loud throughout the night.
Loved the rooftop bar. Only complaint is that there isn't much room when it gets crowded but overall a great place to enjoy a few drinks.
The rooms here are really nice. The hosts are super friendly and offered me a cocktail while I waited to be picked up. The only reason for four stars is the location is a little seedy.
Fantastic, convenient hotel, with free bike rentals for exploring the beach.
Super nice hotel probably one of the nicest in the area and it's one of the only hotel's close to the beach highly recommended you won't be disappointed!!
Great location for Venice Beach..room was spacious..beds were comfortable and they had valet parking which can b difficult to find ...staff was courteous and professional..will stay there again
High lounge at hotel Erwin is a delightful spot for drinks and relaxation! Great spot to catch a sunset or see the lights of the city. Bring a jacket, as it gets chilly in the evenings
It was overpriced and the some of the staff were Rude and the AC doesn't proper cool the rooms unless you occupy them 24 hours a day bc they are motion sensored it's ridiculousness
Amazing place,my girlfriend and I stayed there for a night, but this was a place we won't forget but from a good reason the service we got there was beyond any expectation, I highly recommends to book to this resort! It's very near to Universal Studios and there a variety of restaurants near by.
In the bottom line you must book to this hotel, I surly come again.
Great location but pretty loud outside, fan wasn't working and my room smelled a bit musty.
Centrally located in Venice, bicycle hires, great rooftop, and a short walk to Abbot Kinney a great primer to Venice Beach.
Stopped by for a drink at Barlow with a friend who was staying at Hotel Erwin. It was a very nice atmosphere but the staff seemed very unpleasant and not friendly at all.
I enjoyed the rooftop bar. It had a fantastic view of Venice beach and the staff were very accommodating.
Fun, friendly and low key... great spot if you want to surf early in the morning.
Rooftop bar: Take the less than 10min walk from Abbot Kinney and peep Hotel Erwin s rooftop bar (assuming you haven't already while you were completing the LA bucket list). The sea breeze goes great with one of the craft cocktails or some mahi-mahi tacos. Easy street parking and nutso sunsets are also a major plus. (THe Thrillist)
Staff is SUPER polite. First time here, but for the money, it couldn't be beat! Highly recommend getting a suite. We got the "first" level with a balcony, and view of the beach. It was great to be so close, after checking in we never moved the car!
The rooftop bar is one of my favorites, it has great music and a great view, recommended
Had drinks at the rooftop lounge for a coworker's bday. Overpriced drinks and food but you're really paying for the ocean view. The set up is nice and they have lamps for the cooler afternoons. I liked it but probably wouldn't come back because of the price and lack of quality drinks.
Staff was rude. We sat at a table without any Reserved sign. Ordered food and drinks. After 15 minutes a girl came and placed a Reserved sign on our table (!!!), told that this table has a reservation and asked us to leave. Pathetic.
I checked in late on a Thursday night, only to discover that I booked the wrong dates for my stay (through a 3rd party website).
I was fortunate that Brooke and Christy were at the front desk. They went over and above, and helped me rebook my stay for the correct dates, in just a few minutes. They turned a negative situation into a positive one.
Other aspects of the hotel are also awesome, from the rooftop bar to complimentary beverages in the lobby. Every staff member we have met at the hotel seems to love their job, and it really shows to the guests.
The overall experience here is incredible, and I will certainly be staying at Hotel Erwin anytime I travel to the area. Thank you!
Fun place, but loud. If you're on the top floor you will hear the rooftop lounge until 10pm. Might be a problem for families. Venice is a bit rough around the edges, but most of the crowd is non confrontational.
Hotel is very close to the beach but still reasonably quiet if your room is towards the back of the hotel; the street in front is very busy. Rooms are large and comfortable, staff is very helpful. There is construction work going on at the lobby, so it's very messy but not really bothersome.
Worst hotel experience in a long time. Hotel says they give preference to hotel guests over bar patrons but in practice that isn t the case. Good luck getting to your room with bags in hand anytime between 5 - 9. Waitresses will drop food off and you won t see them again and they will make snarky comments as they walk away. (Happened a few times) Front desk attendants don t have any information for you about what they offer on property. Had to play 21 questions with her and still got very little information. Rooms are ok. Weren t told you could make a reservation or wait for a table on the roof, we re just told nothing was available. After sitting in a common space and seeing people being served all around us we had had enough. Spoke to the manager. He tried to make it batter by giving us a bar credit. We were over the experience and cut our stay short. That was all within just the first 3 hours of being there. Not worth the price they are asking per night. Maybe half would be more appropriate. **UPDATE: Upon checking out a day early the manager took care of my overnight parking charge and any charges to the room. He was apologetic and nice about it however, he didn t seem to take ownership for anything just said, and I quote, Venice Beach isn t for everyone. Take that how you want.
Loved this hotel! They treated my wife and I to breakfast. The rooms were recently remodeled and are as nice as they come. Also, the rooftop bar has the most amazing view!
I adore this place as a get away to complete my projects.. etc, And I'll tell you why. Same staff, who REMEMBERS who you are.Great roof top bar, great food.
The rooftop is very magical. Love it. Pacific ocean and venice beach view is wonderful
Cool rooftop bar, grab a blanket from the host stand when it gets cold.
Very run down and in need of major overhaul. Poor front of house staff with a 'couldn't give a damn' attitude. Made a reservation for the roof top bar a long time ago and got turned away as soon as we stepped out of the lift with our son who is 18, and who incidentally would not have been drinking alcohol. No mention of age restrictions when booking. Very disappointing. All in all a run down hotel which happens to have a view of the sunset which we were able to view from another venue just a short distance away! Will not be recommending this to anyone...
Nice hotel and great rooftop bar, though the layout doesn't leave much room for seating, so book ahead
Fantastic view of Venice Beach, a great place to bring out of towners
This is a review of the rooftop bar.
There are very few rooftop bars with views of the beach. I would recommend going here during the day rather than in the evening because it gets cold at night. They do have blankets if you get cold. Drink prices are pretty standard for a place of this caliber.
Love this place! First timer. Can t beat the location, right on the beach. The service from the parking to room service is top shelf! Rooftop patio is unbelievable! Unfortunately this area has allot of homeless people around ):
The Hostess will try anything to get you the best seat when you reserve. Also, the witness are too busy to stand out.
This was a very nice place to stay. It is very clean and well maintained. The bathroom was huge. The continental breakfast was very good. Great place to stay
The rooms were pretty spacious and the decor was somewhat minimalistic but great. The service at the lobby was good. While they don't have a gym, they'll offer you free passes in a nearby gym (which we didn't use). The bedding was really good, we slept very well.
We payed extra to book a room with a view; the room was in the sixth (top) floor and, while it didn't face directly towards the ocean, we did have somewhat of a view of the sea and the beach. I'm not entirely persuaded it was worth it.
The hotel has a rooftop terrace/bar, which seems to be very popular. It has great views! Unfortunately, the sound leaks somewhat to the rooms in the sixth floor (though, as I said, we slept very well regardless).
The location is top notch.
Absolutely loved it there. Close to all the entertainment
Comped me my minibar tab. Awesome Sunsets over the ocean from the casual rooftop bar.
Good hotel, great location, was quite loud staying below the rooftop bar on the sixth floor
I attended a private event on the rooftop, so didn't experience the hotel per se. The venue was cool, excellent views, great service and a welcome at the front door. I'd come back.
Amazing hotel with wonderful views from the rooftop and balconies
Drinks at the rooftop bar. The bartenders were very helpful and patient in getting us drink recommendations.
Thr best hotel on Venice Beach, hands down. You could never go wrong when reserving at Hotel Erwin!
I just called the hotel directly, ask if they had anything available for this weekend?
front desk told me yes you can call us back in an hour or you can leave your phone number.
I left them my phone number and as I was trying to ask more questions I was told that they have to let me go?
didn't want to hear my questions, didn't even offer to put me on hold.
should I even waste my money staying here?
*This review is for High (rooftop bar)*
This is a great rooftop bar in Venice right next to the beach that offers some amazing, unobstructed views. Even though there was standing room only when we got there (Sunday afternoon), the place wasn't cramped or busy. This was my second time here, and it's been an enjoyable experience both times. It does get busier during sunset hours, but I prefer being here during the day anyway.
Furniture in the room seemed a little dated, even for Venice, but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Great location.
We were at the rooftop for a summer office party. The views of the beach were spectacular. We had tacos, which were great, as well as many drinks prepared by our personal bartender. Would recommend for others to check out.
Love the fact that it's one of the only roof top bars with oceanfront view
EXCELLENT GREAT STAFF GOOD RAYES VERY CLEAN AND VENICE BEACH FIVE MIN WALK
Amazing location, clean, simple rooms and good service
